Chapter Text
There are breaks in every routine.
The sun’s rays peeking in through the window through the thick, green curtains AlHaitham adorned his bedroom with, much to Kaveh’s chagrin. The forest green’s colour is unsightly in the light of the sun, the cause of many an argument, usually about its general ugliness devolving into a challenge for Kaveh to find a better colour, other than black, to better suit the bedroom and also keep the sunlight out of AlHaitham’s eyes. Kaveh suggested they swap their sides of the bed, AlHaitham declined immediately, and it was not the end of it, but it was no longer a viable solution.
On a usual, mundane day like this, AlHaitham is the one waking Kaveh up to the smell of freshly cooked breakfast and brewed coffee with a kiss on his cheek befitting a man who keeps the softer curves of himself under the c loak of privacy. Kaveh would joke about him being the housewife in their relationship, to which AlHaitham would quip he is also the breadwinner so where does that leave Kaveh, in return.
On this particular morning, however, Kaveh wakes to the sight of silver-grey hair messily strewn about the pillow, a dexterous hand clasped in his own that AlHaitham must have unconsciously reached for in the night. Heterochromatic eyes are hidden behind the veil of sleep, features softened by his dreamlike state. Kaveh smiles adoringly at the sight.
Leaning forward, a soothing hand on AlHaitham's deceitfully supple cheek, Kaveh presses his lips to his, kissing him awake.
"Good morning, Haitham."
AlHaitham gives a gentle groan in defiance, snuggling closer to the blond instead, head dipped into the space between Kaveh's neck and shoulder. A quiet, fond chuckle escapes Kaveh at the affection.
"Five minutes," AlHaitham mumbles against his skin, woeful at the idea of leaving the warm, comfortable bed, of not feeling Kaveh's weight and heat under his arms, for a job he will be glad to leave soon.
Kaveh cherishes those five small minutes before their usual routine naturally presents itself, revelling in the sleepiness that AlHaitham's warm, strong body causes.
