Work Text:
You have always admired how effortlessly Pedro switched between English and Spanish, sometimes even mid-sentence. You loved the way his words flowed smoothly and the richness of the language. Although you have taken a few classes in high school, your Spanish was rusty, and you never really got the chance to practice.
One day, over breakfast at a cozy café, Pedro noticed how fascinated you were with him when he spoke the language. "You know, I could teach you some Spanish," he suggested with a warm smile.
Your eyes widened in surprise. "Really? You'd do that for me?"
Pedro nodded eagerly. "Of course! It would be my pleasure."
From that day on, Pedro became your personal Spanish tutor. He would start each lesson by teaching you the basics - the alphabet, basic greetings, and common phrases. You were an eager student, and Pedro was a patient and encouraging teacher.
As the lessons progressed, Pedro would incorporate more complex grammar rules and conversation skills. You were making steady progress, encouraged by Pedro's praises.
One evening, as the two of you were sitting on the couch, Pedro turned to you and spoke in Spanish. "¿Quieres ir al cine conmigo mañana?" he asked with a grin.
Your eyes lit up with excitement. "Yes! You just asked me to go to the movies with you in Spanish!" you exclaimed, static over the fact you can actually understand the language you've been learning for the past couple of weeks.
Pedro laughed. "And you understood me perfectly! You're doing great, you."
Over the following weeks, your Spanish skills improved significantly, and you even started speaking it more confidently in public. Pedro was impressed with your progress and how much you had come to love the language.
As you cuddled on the couch one lazy Sunday afternoon, Pedro turned to you and said, "You know, I think you might be even better at Spanish than I am now."
You giggled. "No way! You're still the master. But thank you for teaching me. I feel so much more connected to your culture now."
Pedro smiled and kissed your forehead. "Anything for you, mi amor."
