No one expected this day to come so soon.
The day they lost her.
In a blink, she was gone.
The sun shines through the beautiful stained glass windows of the church, casting broken rainbows across the room.
The same church they got married in.
But no one can stop to admire the beauty or reminisce of those happy moments as it is overcast by clouds of pure anguish and grief.
Even though the sun shines no one can enjoy it as they all watch heartbroken as the casket is walked down the aisle.
No one can miss the tear-stained cheeks and bleary red eyes of Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Clint Barton, Tony Stark, and Scott Lang as they carry the pure white casket toward the front of the room, where their favorite picture of her sits. On their honeymoon, looking so happy and in love as her eyes sparkle.
A terrible reminder that they sparkle no more.
Not a word is spoken as the pallbearers set down the precious casket and move to their seats in the front rows of the cathedral, only quiet piano music fills the silence of the cathedral.
Dahlias lay atop her casket, her favorite flowers, ones she would turn into flower crowns for all of her children when they bloomed in her garden.
How did we get here?
One moment she was smiling and laughing, ready to save the world.
The next she was gone.
No more smiles
No more laughter
No more late nights spent under the stars
No more early mornings cooking breakfast
No more hugs and kisses
No more I love yous
The only thing left is sorrow and grief.
Tears stain the grass as the Avengers and those close to her watch her be lowered into the ground.
The cemetery is beautiful with cherry trees and twittering birds.
But no one can appreciate the beauty around them as they say goodbye to the most beautiful soul they know.
