The Taste of Your Smoke

Summary:

Because of Ezreal’s stress, he couldn’t help but to smoke when Kai'Sa was there. This was the first time she saw him smoking, and wanted to try it out for the first time. Well, Ezreal was hesitant at first, but because of Kai'Sa's frightening threat, he has another way for her to let it try.

Notes:

So I saw this Vash x Wolfwood comic on Twitter and I somehow had an idea of making a fanfiction about my OTP.

Hope you guys like and enjoy this one! <3

Edit: I decided to rewrite this because why not? I hope y'all like this!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was a long fucking day. Ezreal was lying on the warm sand of Shurima, feeling every ache on his whole body. He was so tired, and sloppy that he couldn't move a single inch. He was chased down by hunters, hungry predators, and his lads who betrayed him like he was nothing but a tool. Remembering them all one by one makes him dizzy, and sick.

He looked up at the night sky with the moon shining brightly with the burning stars, and sighed heavily. He breathed in the scent of the cold wind of Shurima to calm himself down, to relieve his stress, but somehow, it wasn't enough for him.

He tried to sit up to reach for his backpack on his left side as much as he could, but he groaned in pain. He felt like he was gonna pass out for a second. Suddenly, he saw someone walking up to him or so he thought, walking up to his backpack, and handed it to him.

He looked up to see who this kind person was until his eyes widened. It was Kai'Sa. God. She was so beautiful. He could look at her for hours, and compliment her with such sweet, loving words.

“I didn't expect you to be here, beautiful,” Ezreal tried to flirt with Kai'Sa despite his current situation, and yelped in pain when his girlfriend threw his backpack on his stomach a bit hard, “Ouch! Well, that's not a nice way of saying hello.”

“Says the one who was flirting with me a moment ago.” Kai'Sa rolled her eyes, folding her arms while looking down at him.

“Oh, come on. You love it when I flirt with you.” Ezreal smirked, and opened his backpack. He grabbed a box of cigarettes, and a lighter that he got from the undercity, Zaun. “And you gotta deal with it. You’re stuck with me.”

Kai'Sa frowned, and sighed as she sat down beside him, crossing her legs comfortably. The atmosphere around them was silent for a while when Ezreal realized that she was looking at the box. He chuckled softly, and opened it as he brought out a cigarette.

"This is a cigarette." Ezreal said in a soft whisper, and Kai’Sa looked at him. Why are her lavender eyes so hypnotizing to look at?

“I know what that is.”

“Just felt like I needed to tell you.”

Of course she knew what a cigarette was. She used to see her father smoke outside of their house when she was a little girl. She never understood why people enjoyed smoking when they knew it could kill them. Her little self would always tell her father that smoking was bad, and her father would always laugh at her for how adorable she was, and that she got her mother’s personality. But after that, he stopped, and he never does that again.

Maybe she could stop her boyfriend as well.

“Don't stop me or whatever,” Ezreal said in an energetic tone, hiding his exhaustion from her. “I just want to smoke. I need this. Besides, I'm a grown man.”

Or maybe not.

She could never stop him. He was too stubborn, and she couldn’t do anything about it.

Kai'Sa decided to stay silent, and watched him lighting up the cigarette as he placed it on his lips. Ezreal could see her getting worried for him which made him smile faintly. She really does care for him even though she could be hella scary sometimes. He inhaled in, and exhaled as the gray smoke flew away with the wind, sighing heavily. He then held his cigarette, and closed his eyes for a moment to rest them.

That’s when Kai’Sa finally understood. Ezreal was tired; just like her father was.

She opened her mouth, and Ezreal heard her calming, soothing voice that was like music to his ears. He opened his eyes, and looked at her; his eyes were like the blue sky.

“You’re tired…”

He looked at her for a while, and all he could do was smile. He knew he would make her angry if he chose to lie.  “Yeah, I am.”

“Do you smoke because that thing helps you feel better?”

A long silence fell between them. The silence then broke when he sighed, and nodded his head slowly.

“Ding, ding! You got that right.”

This made Kai’Sa felt lonely for him, and especially for her father. She never knew that they both felt that way. She then looked at his hand, and held it softly as she squeezed it gently.

"You know that there are other things that can relieve your stress, right?"

Ezreal looked at her hand, and squeezed it back gently, and chuckled. He reminded her of his long lost mother when she caught his long lost father smoking outside the balcony. It had been a while since he thought about them.

“Yes, I know. It’s just a habit now, I suppose.”

It didn't take a while as Kai'Sa nodded her head. A habit can still be stopped, but she knew she had to understand him at this very moment. Ezreal waited patiently for her to respond.

“After this, you have to promise me that you will never do this again.”

He was caught off guard, and laughed as he ruffled her long, dark hair, making her groan in annoyance. He then leaned closer to her, and whispered into her ear.

“Are you that worried for me, angel?”

Kai’Sa felt her spine shiver. Why did he sound so seductive all of a sudden?

“Yes. I am.” She said in a cold tone, but she was genuine at the same time.

He stayed speechless, and couldn’t help but feel his heart racing. His cheeks were getting warm, and red as he breathed heavily. He felt like he was falling for her all over again.

“Well, if you’re the one who’s stopping me, then I’ll stop.”

“Promise me.” She said with determination in her eyes.

“I promise.”

“Good.”

He laughed once more, then out of the blue, Kai’Sa leaned closer to him as well, and luckily, he still had some space to breathe.

“But before you do, I want to try some of that.”

His eyes widened, and looked at his cigarette as he chuckled. “You're not gonna like it.”

“Well, I still want to try it out.”

“Why? What happened to the pep talk you were doing?”

Kai’Sa frowned at him. He flinced, and laughed nervously.

“Angel, don’t do that.”

“Do what?”

“You know, that frown of yours.” He said in a nervous tone.

She raised her eyebrow in confusion, and rolled her eyes when she realized. “I know what you’re trying to do, and it’s not going to work on me.”

“Kai’Sa…” Ezreal said her name softly, and he didn’t know what else to do.

“Ezreal.” Kai’Sa also said his name as well, but it was a bit frightening.

He groaned like a child, and looked at his cigarette, and looked back at her. He then sighed loudly, accepting his defeat. "Are you sure? There's no turning back, you know."

“I know.”

And that was when Ezreal smirked, and Kai'Sa knew he had thought of an idea. A bad one, apparently.

"You want to try it really badly?" He asked, and used his seductive tone again.

But this time, Kai'Sa didn’t feel her spine shiver, and glared at him, making Ezreal's spine shiver this time. That was totally scary. Okay. Let's not say that in a weird way, he thought.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" He panicked, and chuckled nervously. "Alright. I'll let you try it. But can I do it for you?"

Kai'Sa blinked many times, and was getting confused a lot more. "I can do it on my own. I am a grown woman myself."

Ezreal snorted, and it was his turn to roll his eyes. He clicked his tongue, and smirked at her once more. "I know, angel, but trust me on this one. You won’t be disappointed."

And once again, silence fell between them as Kai'Sa was taking her time to think. She then sighed, giving him a warning by just her expression. “It better be worth it, Ezreal. What am I supposed to do?”

"Of course, of course," Ezreal nodded his head, reassuring her. "You just have to open your mouth. Not too big, not too wide. Is that clear?"

“Huh?”

“Angel, don’t overthink too much,” He said. “You just need to open your mouth for me. That’s it.”

“Why the hell do you want me to- ugh.” Kai'Sa was getting annoyed, and impatient already. This is Ezreal; the stupid, annoying, clumsy, and ugh… attractively handsome, and cute Prodigal Explorer. What was she ever going to do with this man?

Ezreal couldn't help but chuckle. “I guess that’s clear to you.”

“Just get on with it already.”

“Damn, you’re so impatient, my angel.”

He then placed the cigarette back on his lips, and inhaled deeply. After a couple of seconds, he smirked deviously at her, and held his cigarette. He gave her a look, telling her to act fast.

She breathed in heavily, getting nervous, and opened her mouth. Not too big, and not too wide just like what he had said to her. He then gently caressed Kai'Sa's cheek, making her gasp as he leaned closer to her face. He slid his finger to her chin, lifting her up close, and closed his eyes as he breathed out the smoke that went into Kai'Sa's mouth perfectly.

She unexpectedly closed her eyes, and breathed in his smoke deeply. When Ezreal was finished, he pulled away while smirking, and was counting a three second head start. As he hit one second, Kai’Sa’s started coughing rapidly, trying to cover her mouth.

“Yep, I’ve been there,” He rubbed her back soothingly, but his smirk was still visible on his face. “So? How was it?”

She panted a bit, and looked at Ezreal with such a red, obvious blush on her whole face. He then noticed that her lavender eyes were slowly starting to glow. He had never seen her eyes glow before, and wow… it suits her.

“W-What was that?!” He swore he heard her voice crack. Was it from embarrassment? Was she getting shy? Well, to top it off, Ezreal found it absolutely adorable.

“Uh, what do you mean?” He pretended to be a dumb bitch, and smiled as Kai'Sa gritted her teeth, her hot fangs starting to show.

“You… you just…”

She paused, and looked down as she continued breathing heavily. Thankfully, her hair slipped down to cover her whole face, and to avoid Ezreal's stupid mesmerizing gaze. He then touched her cheek to her chin, and could still feel his warm touch. She weirdly wanted him to do that again. It gave her too many butterflies in her stomach, and it felt… surprisingly good. She covered her lips, and this time, she breathed softly, and slowly as she tried to remember the taste of his flavorful, scorching smoke .

She shook her head, and looked up at Ezreal who was already looking at her, waiting for her patiently. It annoyed her even more that his smile hasn’t disappeared on his face.

But she felt relieved to see him okay again. This is Ezreal who she knew, and loved.

“Don’t you dare do something stupid again.”

“Hey, you’re the one who wanted to try smoking. I just did what I had to do.” He laughed, and placed the cigarette back on his lips, and took a shot of smoke again. He then smirked at her as he sighed. “You still haven’t answered my question, though.”

Kai'Sa punched Ezreal on the shoulder, making him yelp. “Ow!”

She looked away furiously, and stayed silent.

“You liked it.” Ezreal started, whispering into her ear.

She breathed heavily from surprise, and her shiver was back as she turned her head to look at him again. “I did not.”

“You did.” He leaned closer, a lot closer to her face this time.

“I did not.”

He smirked, and stole a kiss from her as he pulled away quickly, changing the topic like nothing happened. “Have I ever told you have such delicious lips?”

She blushed, and grabbed his shirt hardly as she pulled him, kissing him deeply, and passionately. She couldn’t control herself anymore. She missed him too much.

He gasped. He wasn’t expecting her to do that, but he didn’t hesitate, and kissed her back with the same amount of passion as he held the back of her head to support her. They both broke the kiss after, breathing heavily, and panting like raging animals, their hearts beating loudly, and fast. It had been a while since they’ve done that.

“Yes. You told me that many times.” Kai’Sa replied, her breathing still hitched.

“And have I ever told you you’re beautiful?” Ezreal whispered as he caressed her cheek lovingly.

Kai’Sa chuckled, and caressed his cheek as well. “Yes, Ez. Many, many times.”

“And I won’t stop saying it.” He smiled at her.

“I know.”
