let me love you

Summary:

Dazai and Chuuya have a night in after a day of meetings and it goes about how you would expect, just in a very fluffy way.

this takes place right before don’t let me love you, i wrote it as some what of a prequel, but it can be read as a stand alone.

Work Text:

Chuuya and Dazai were caught in one of the worst rain storms of the season.  Both tired, soaked to the bone, and yet neither of them cared about the weather, or the lack of an umbrella. The two walked side by side to Chuuya’s apartment, lost in conversation about anything and everything. About their latest mission, pranks Dazai had pulled, their subordinates, and other past memories.

“If you ask me, the look on Hirotsu’s face was worth it all.” Dazai smirked. His hair soaked from the rain and nearly covered his good eye. Chuuya couldn’t help but to wonder if he could really see like that. Luckily, they were almost at his place.

“Yeah, yeah. You’re going to give that old man a heart attack one day.” Chuuya rolled his eyes.

“I wouldn’t say I would be the one to give him one. There’s two new members of the Black Lizard, the red head with a bandaged nose will definitely beat me to it.” Dazai replied. Chuuya could feel his hand brush against his glove.

He wanted nothing more than to hold his hand, but they made a commitment when they first started dating. No affection outside or beyond a private setting. Neither of them could trust other members to not tell Mori. While of course Koyo and Hirotsu knew, those were to be the only ones who knew. They both trusted them enough to keep their secret and not tell anyone.

Chuuya rolled his eyes as the pair walked into the apartment building. A little more bickering and playful jabs later they were at his apartment. It was on the nicer end, spacious with marble countertops and nice furniture and of course a great view that overlooked Yokohama.

He walked in, followed closely by Dazai. And as soon as the door snapped shut behind him, Chuuya was pulled into a kiss. Dazai’s hand on his lower back, pulling Chuuya towards him, the other on his hip. Chuuya’s arms hooked around the other’s neck.

Dazai let go of the kiss first, “I’ve been wanting to do that since we left the meeting.” He said, trying to catch his breath, resting his forehead, the best he could, against Chuuya’s.

Chuuya gave a soft smile and kissed his cheek. “Well, if you take a shower now we can catch up with kissing later.”

That led Dazai to groan and toss his head back, removing his hands from Chuuya’s body, letting them go limp by his body. After a second of thought and a glare from Chuuya, who was taking off his shoes and hanging up his coat and hat. Dazai groaned again, took his shoes off and went to the bathroom to shower, muttering nonsense and complaining the whole time.

Chuuya shook his head and took the discarded coats to the laundry room. He made his way to the master bedroom, pulling out grey sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt to take a shower of his own.

He stepped out of the bathroom feeling much better and cleaner. His red hair hung loose around his shoulders and eyes. The shirt was a little loose on him, hanging just below his hips.

“You smell good.” Dazai muttered into his shoulder, wrapping his arms around Chuuya’s waist.

“Were you waiting in my room? Fucking creep.” Chuuya tried his best to snap at the taller man, trying to break free from the grasp.

“I got lonely.” Dazai said as he turned Chuuya around to face him, his arms still around Chuuya.

Dazai had stopped wearing his bandages on his neck around Chuuya a couple months after they started dating. Claiming that he should see the scars. Chuuya opposed it at first, telling Dazai that he didn’t have to. In the end he ended up showing the discolored rings around his neck.

Chuuya is used to seeing his arms unbandaged, though his heart breaks a little when a new cut or scar appears. He makes sure to give the other extra attention and love when it happens.

“I was also promised kisses.” Dazai gave a lazy smile. His hair was damp and hung loose around his face.

Chuuya rolled his eyes, and leaned up to kiss him. Dazai pulled his hips closer to him, deepening the kiss. The taller man started walking backwards towards the bed, sitting once his knees hit the edge and pulled Chuuya into his lap.

The kiss got heated quickly, Chuuya’s arms wrapped tighter around Dazai neck, his fingers grasping at the hair that was close, pulling their bodies closer together. While Dazai’s hands made their way up to the other’s hair, pulling the red hair just enough to break the kiss and started leaving little kisses down to his shoulder mouthing at his collar bone.

Chuuya was trying to catch his breath, but Dazai was making it hard. Leaving kisses all over his neck, running his hands through his hair, feeling him press up against him, making him gasp or hum.

He was too lost to realize Dazai’s hands left his hair. Only letting out a gasp as felt his cold hands on his bare torso. Slowly Dazai started lifting up Chuuya’s shirt higher.

“Hey Dazai?” Chuuya muttered, running his fingers through wavy brown hair.

Dazai pulled back, and looked at Chuuya. His brown eyes half closed, lips shiny with spit and bright pink.

“Have you ate today?” Chuuya smirked, knowing it’s not what the other thought he was gonna ask.

Dazai’s eyes shifted, then went back to Chuuya a sly smirk appeared on his face as he was opening his mouth to speak.

“I know what you’re thinking and that doesn’t count mackerel.” Chuuya sighed, cutting him off before Dazai had a chance to reply.

“Oh, but I thought chibi liked it.” Dazai said, nuzzling into his neck leaving a couple kisses.

Chuuya got up from his lap, “Come on, we need to eat. Besides, I’m starving.” fixing his shirt as he walked toward the door.

“Stupid Chibi.” He heard Dazai mutter as he fell back into the bed.

Chuuya made his way to his kitchen, and started pulling out a couple instant ramen bowls. It’s already 11 p.m. and the last thing he wants to do is make a full dinner.

“So what’s the dog making for dinner?” Dazai asked, leaning on the countertop on the other side of him.

Chuuya rolled his eyes, “Ramen, I’m waiting on the water to heat up.”

“Can’t we do something while the water is heating up?” Dazai smirked as he made his way across the kitchen to wrap his hands around Chuuya’s waist.

“Yeah, you get the drinks ready.” Chuuya replied, giving the other a little peck on the cheek.

Dazai dropped his arms and sighed dramatically, “Oh chibi doesn’t care that I’m going to die.”

The red head rolled his eyes and slipped past Dazai to get the chopsticks.

“Shut up, you’re not gonna die. You’re just clingy.” Chuuya replied as he pulled open the top to the bowls of ramen.

Dazai muttered a response that Chuuya couldn’t hear. Probably more complaining, but he pulled out the whiskey for himself and a bottle of wine pouring each into the respective glass.

“We need to get more whiskey soon.” Dazai said as he put the glasses away. “It’s about to be empty.”

Chuuya turned from the ramen and looked at the bottle, “It’s half empty mackerel. You’re fine.”

“Yeah, but Chuuya gets to keep all the bottles of wine he wants.” He crossed his arms and looked at the wine case.

He shrugged. “When you start buying your own and bring it here you can keep as much as you want. Besides, I’m the one that keeps you stocked on your stupid canned crab.”

“Yeah, yeah. I guess the chibi can show he loves me.” Dazai said, waving a dismissive hand.

Chuuya clicked his tongue at the remark. He knows Dazai means nothing by it.

“Grab your food, asshole.” Chuuya grumbled, taking his ramen and headed to the couch.

“So what are we watching today?” Dazai said flopped down on the couch after he set the ramen down.

“Careful asshole, you’re gonna make me spill it.” Chuuya replied, holding on to the bowl tighter, and lifting it up so the hot broth doesn’t spill on him. “It doesn’t matter you can choose tonight.”

They ended up watching a thriller about a serial killer in the States. Both taking turns on how the killings could have been done better, while Dazai would ramble on about the killer’s mistakes and what led him to be arrested. And by the end Dazai was curled into Chuuya, head resting on the red head’s chest while his arm wrapped around Dazai, massaging the top of his head.

Dazai was rambling on about how shitty the killer was and how easy he could have gotten away with it, “I mean, we do this stuff every day. He shouldn’t have kept himself invested in the investigation that’s wha-”

Chuuya stopped his rambling with a kiss. He could feel Dazai hum into the kiss as he slowly pushed him beneath him. Once he was pinned beneath Dazai, he ran his hands underneath the other’s shirt. Slowly and lightly dragging his nails across his back.

Dazai deepened the kiss, pressing his body against Chuuya. Who let out an appreciative hum as he felt the weight of the other, and rutted against Dazai. He broke the kiss and looked down at Chuuya.

Dazai’s hazel eyes were dark, his lips pink, and a flush high on his face. His breaths were heavy as he tried to catch it.

Chuuya’s sure he looked no better, but still decided to tease him. “What? I thought you were wanting a kiss mackerel?”

He rolled his eyes and pulled Chuuya up with him, so he was sitting in his lap once again.

Chuuya instantly wrapped his arms around Dazai, lightly situating himself, trying to get comfortable. Leading Dazai to let out a light groan from the friction.

His eyes went to Dazai’s immediately, a small smirk on his lips.

“Chibi acts like he’s not hard too.” Dazai almost scoffed, taking Chuuya’s hips, pulling him closer. Making him close his eyes, and open his mouth to sigh.

“God, slug is so easy to rile up.” He whispered against his ear and slowly started to kiss his neck. Chuuya closed his eyes and let out a small whine as Dazai bit down on his shoulder.

“So, so easy.” Dazai spoke again, one hand stayed at his hip while the other found its way to Chuuya’s throat, pulling him closer.

Chuuya panted lightly. “Then do something about it, dumbass.” His eyes half lidded as he looked at the man in front of him.

He let out a hum and kissed Chuuya again, pulling him in by the throat. Dazai’s other hand slid up his torso and around his back, holding him tight against his body.

Chuuya’s hands played with the hem of Dazai’s shirt, slowly sliding his hands up his shirt, dragging his nails until he got to his shoulders. Dazai broke the kiss and slid his shirt off his head, getting ready to do the same with Chuuya’s.

Three knocks came at Chuuya’s door. The two broke apart and stared at each other. Dazai’s face paled and his eyes went wide. The red head felt a pang of sadness in his chest but pulled himself together when the knocks came again.

“Hold on a second!” Chuuya called out to the person knocking.  “Hide and I’ll answer it.” He whispered, getting off the other man. He wrapped a blanket around his shoulders and body.

God forbid it’s someone from the organization who has to see him looking like this and hard.

He stuck a hand out and opened the door, preparing himself for Mori or Koyo to be at the other side.

“Oh, Chuuya darling, did I wake you?” An older grey haired lady stood on the other side of the door.

This is somehow worse than Mori barging in.

“No, Ms. Myoga.” Chuuya bowed. “I was just watching a movie.”

“Good, good. I just came to remind you that you promised to feed my cats for two days.” the old lady returned, returning a slight bow.

“Yes, I haven’t forgotten.” Chuuya smiled, hoping to get this over sooner.

“Here are the instructions for the cats,” she said, handing him a piece of paper. “each one has their own special needs, of course. Soonie, she’s the loudest one. She’s a sweetheart once she warms up to you. Doongie, as long as you give him treats he shouldn’t cause you too much trouble. Dori, we’ll he’s Dori. He’s bound to give you some trouble but it shouldn’t be anything you can’t handle. I also left my phone number on the paper if you need anything-” she went on with the same instructions she left him the last couple of times he watched her cats.

He admires the love she has for her cats but damn.

“Oh, who am I kidding, you always do great at watching them. I’ll be going now darling, if you need anything don’t hesitate to call. Besides, I don’t want to keep you from your brown headed fellow.” She finished her rambling with a bow.

Chuuya froze for a second before bowing back.

“He’s good looking, you did a fine job finding that one.” she whispered, giving him a wink then walking back down to her apartment. He was too stunned to speak, he could feel the blush rise on his face.

They got busted, not by Mori. But by his crazy cat lady neighbor.

As soon as Chuuya closed the door, Dazai burst out laughing from the kitchen.

“It’s not funny stupid mackerel.” Chuuya sulked, pulling his blanket closer to him. Embarrassment wasn’t the right word to describe how he was feeling.

“Yeah it is. The old hag talked about nothing but her cats for five minutes, then admitted she knew about me. It’s kinda funny. Besides, seeing chibi this embarrassed is always entertaining.” Dazai laughed, as he came around the corner.

“Don’t call her an old hag, mackerel, her name is Ms. Myoga.” He replied, turning to glare at Dazai.

“Mhm okay. I’ll make sure to thank her for calling me good looking.” Dazai chuckled as he walked towards Chuuya. “Now where were we?” he said as he pushed Chuuya’s blanket off his body.

“Well for starters, you didn’t have your shirt on.” Chuuya smirked, running his fingers up under Dazai’s shirt.

“My apologies.” Dazai smirked back, and pulled his shirt off his body. He grabbed Chuuya by the back of the neck, and pulled him in, smashing their lips together in a kiss.

“Back to the couch or the bed, darling?” Dazai muttered, barely breaking the kiss.

“Bed.” Chuuya was barely able to get out before he was dragged to the master bedroom and Dazai was soon back on top of him, pulling off his shirt and reattaching their lips.

Dazai's went back to his throat, holding on tighter than before, as he rutted against Chuuya making the smaller man moan into the kiss.

“Like I said, easy .” Dazai murmured against his lips before kissing lower on his neck than before.

“Shut up dumbass I’m not that fuckin easy.” Chuuya groaned louder as Dazai’s hand slipped under his sweatpants and started rubbing him through his boxers.

Chuuya’s hands went to Dazai’s hair tugging at it. Dazai’s hand left his throat and pulled the hands from his hair. pinning them above Chuuya’s head.

“Dazai- fuck.” Chuuya groaned looking at the man who is now looking down at him.

“Oh come on now, chibi knows I don’t like pain.” Dazai said, his voice slightly deeper. He palmed Chuuya harder than before, having him bite his lip to keep from moaning.

Dazai removed his hand from Chuuya’s pants, using it to keep himself supported as he left open mouth kisses down his chest and torso, sucking here and there. Chuuya groaned at the thought of having to cover the visible marks in the morning.

A shiver went up his spine and he gasped at the feeling of  Dazai licking a stripe back up his chest.

“What is it darling? You need to say something? Go ahead, say it.” Dazai teased as he looked into his eyes.

“Touch me, kiss me, please.” Chuuya almost begged. Needing the feeling of Dazai’s lips back on his, his hands on his body.

Dazai kissed him again. His hands let go of Chuuya’s and started working Chuuya’s sweatpants down and off his legs.

The kiss was desperate, tongues and teeth clashing. Dazai pushed him further into the bed. Chuuya’s hands pulled down Dazai’s sweats as far as he could without breaking the kiss. There were no short jokes or comments from Dazai, just him pulling them the rest of the way off.

Dazai’s hands traveled down Chuuya’s body as he kissed his way down once again. He looked up at Chuuya, “You sure?” was all he asked.

Chuuya nodded, hands gripping the pillows by his head.

“Words Chuuya.” Dazai said clearly, though his eyes were full of want and lust.

“Yes, I’m sure Dazai. Just fuckin do something.” Chuuya replied, holding back moans. He felt his boxers get pulled down and Dazai’s mouth around him.

~~~
The next morning Chuuya woke up curled into Dazai, wearing his tan shirt from last night and new boxers.
“Good morning, slug.” Dazai muttered, pulling him closer. “Don’t forget about Ms. Myoga’s cats.”
Chuuya didn’t say anything, just slapped Dazai’s chest next to where he was laying on it.
“Ow, isn’t Chuuya aggressive in the morning.” He sounded, rubbing the place where Chuuya hit.
As much as he hated it, Dazai was right. He needed to take care of the stupid cats.
He has nothing against the Soonie, Doongie and Dori, he just doesn’t wanna get out of bed.
“Morning, mackerel.” Chuuya replied, opening his eyes and looking up at Dazai.
The morning sun shined on him, making his hazel eyes look almost green. His hair was still ruffled from last night and sleep, and a small, fond smile rested on his lips.
Chuuya always liked how he looked in the morning. Little to no sadness in his eyes and smiling an actual smile. It’s not the Port Mafia Executive Dazai, not the Demon Prodigy, it’s Dazai Osamu. It’s a side of Dazai that no one else besides Chuuya could see.
“Now, why is Chuuya looking at me like that?” Dazai smirked, looking at the red head.
Chuuya rolled his eyes and gave him a peck on his lips.
“Get up mackerel, I have cats to take care of.” He huffed, prying himself out of Dazai’s grasp and sitting up on the bed.
“Chibi is so mean. Why do I have to get up?” He muttered, pulling the covers closer to him.
Chuuya rolled his eyes, got up and made his way to get new clothes for today.
“I’m going to Europe in a few days dumbass, I figured you would want to spend as much time together as we can. At least before we have to go to work.” He replied, grabbing a new vest from the hanger.
He’s going to be gone for a little over a month on a trade deal. If you ask him, he thinks a month is a little excessive, but apparently Mori wants him to check out some other assets while he’s there.
Dazai gave a dramatic sigh, and pushed himself up.
Chuuya gave another roll of his eyes and made his way to the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
He started the shower and turned to look at himself in the mirror. His red hair was a tangled mess, purple and red marks covered his upper chest and neck, faint red lines went across his hips. Sighing at the thought of dealing with covering the marks on his neck.
Chuuya walked out of the bathroom, feeling better and cleaner than before. He adjusted his choker and made sure the marks were well covered before leaving his room and headed to the kitchen and started on coffee for the both of them.
“Chuuya?” Dazai’s voice was soft, pulling him out of the trance he was in.
He turned around and saw Dazai standing with his bandages back on his body, besides his right eye being uncovered.
“Can you help?” his eyes avoided Chuuya’s, and just looked at the ground in shame.
He took a deep breath. This has become a more common occurrence over time. Dazai not being able to put on the head bandages himself for one reason or another. While they were all excuses, Chuuya knew the reason. But never bothered to ask or talk about it. Knowing that if the other wanted too, he would.
“Come here.” He replied with a small, sad smile. He carefully wrapped the bandage around his eye a couple times before securing it, and gave Dazai a little peck on the cheek.
Dazai wrapped his long arms around Chuuya, pulling him in for a tight hug. He stayed there, wrapped in Dazai’s arms, letting him for as long as he needed.
When the hug finally broke, Dazai looked better. His eye didn’t have the sad gleam, and looked a little more relaxed.
“Come on mackerel, we have cats to take care of.”
~~~

Chuuya stumbled his way into the apartment, only to find it empty and pretty much just as he left it. He didn’t necessarily find this odd as he knew Dazai had been dealing with a case involving Ango Sakaguchi and Oda Sakunosuke. He’s been known to go ghost whenever work gets intense. Which is also why he didn’t think too much about the phone calls and text messages not going through, assuming Dazai forgot to charge his phone.

He was pouring himself a glass of wine, trying to destress from the mission he was just sent on. When his phone rang, gaining his attention. He was expecting it to be Dazai, so he was saddened a bit when the caller ID read Boss.

“Yes, Boss?” He answered, taking his glass in his hand.

“Chuuya! I heard the job went well.” Mori sounded chipper and excited.

“Yes, sir. All the assets looked perfect and the deal went smoothly. I’ll have the full report by tomorrow afternoon.” Chuuya replied, smirking to himself leaning against the counter.

“Great. Listen Chuuya, I have some news about Dazai.” Mori’s voice dropped.

Chuuya’s mind started racing, anxiety kicking in as he thought about everything that could have possibly happened to the stupid waste of bandages that he calls a boyfriend. He didn’t voice anything of course, knowing better than to interrupt the boss.

“Dazai left the Port Mafia.” The Boss’s voice was smooth and gentle as he continued to talk, but Chuuya didn’t listen, he was too focused on holding back tears and not crushing the glass in his hand.

After another minute the call ended, he promptly downed the wine in his hand, slamming down the empty glass on the countertop. Tears rushing down his face as he muffled sobs as he rested his head on arms.
