Notes:

There are many talented writers in the Wednesday fandom that inspired me to write this short story about Wednesday and Xavier. This is my first time writing anything, so please forgive me for any spelling or grammar errors. English was never my best subject. All the characters belong to their respective owners and creators.

Chapter 1: Telling Xavier

Chapter Text

As Wednesday held the positive pregnancy test, she recalled the events that led to this moment.

It all started after the events following the Crackstone situation. Xavier had gifted her a phone to keep in contact during the break. Even though she hated the idea of using the phone, she couldn’t keep from wondering what the tortured artist was up to during the break. Reluctantly, and after Thing’s constant pestering, she gave in and sent a quick text to the person her mind kept wondering to. Let’s just say that wasn’t the only message exchanged between Wednesday and Xavier. Wednesday realized she wasn’t repulsed by the concept of texting Xavier throughout the break. In fact, she looked forward to their daily conversation. As classes resumed, everyone could tell that the relationship between Wednesday and Xavier had evolved into something more. It was difficult to know if they were girlfriend and boyfriend because they didn’t act like normal couples. However, it was clear Wednesday and Xavier were closer than the semester before. It wasn’t until a female underclassman tried to make a move on Xavier that Wednesday made it crystal clear that Xavier was off limits by pulling him into a kiss in front of the whole student body. After that event, wherever Wednesday was, Xavier was with her. Xavier was her boyfriend, and God help anyone who dared to flirt with him ever again.

After graduating from Nevermore, Wednesday and Xavier moved into an apartment close to the university they were both attending. Their friends thought it was impossible for Wednesday and Xavier to love each other more, but college life had somehow strengthened their bond even more. Probably because after an argument, they both experienced what it was like almost to lose each other. It was an emotion that they never wanted to feel again. After completing university, Xavier knew it was time to ask Wednesday to marry him. She was the only one he would ever want to start a family with. On the evening of one gloomy day, Wednesday’s favorite type of day, Xavier proposed to her. He promised to protect her from anyone and anything.

Remembering their wedding day brought a smile to Wednesday’s face. She remembers the look on Xavier’s face when she walked down the aisle in a white wedding gown. Everybody had assumed she would wear black, yet she wanted Xavier never to forget this moment, so although her entire closet consisted of black clothes, she didn’t want anyone forgetting the day Wednesday Addams and Xavier Thorpe got married. That is why she chose a white wedding dress. Friends and family celebrated the union of these two at the Addams’ house. During their honeymoon, Xavier couldn’t keep his hands off Wednesday. It was crazy how many times they had sex. No wonder she ended up becoming pregnant. Wednesday had no idea how to she was going to tell Xavier, but one thing she was sure about, she couldn’t wait to hold her baby.

A knock on the door startled her; it appeared Xavier was back from his gallery. Wednesday quickly hid the test in one of the drawers and went out to greet her husband. She would devise a plan later to deliver the news to him once she got confirmation from the doctor.

“You’re back early,” Wednesday said.

Xavier replied, “Yeah, there wasn’t much to do, so I figured I could close earlier than usual and come spend some time with my lovely wife. I noticed you’ve been feeling a little under the weather lately. Are you okay?”

Wednesday answered, “Yes, I’m fine. It must be all the stress from having to finish my book by the deadline that has me feeling exhausted.”  Wednesday wanted to tell Xavier the news, but she also wanted to make it special. Therefore, she decided to wait until her doctor’s appointment tomorrow.

The next day, she left her doctor’s office with the biggest grin anyone had seen on her. A person who was part half her and half Xavier was growing inside her. To say she wasn’t terrified about becoming a mother would be an understatement. When Wednesday was younger, she had once told her mother she would never fall in love, be a housewife, or have a family. Years later, here she was, walking to her car with an ultrasound copy displaying the life she was carrying inside her womb.  Wednesday was anxious to get home and prepare dinner, where she would disclose the news to her spouse that a mini Xavier or Wednesday was on the way.

As hours, minutes and seconds passed, Wednesday became more anxious because Xavier was bound to come through their front door any minute now. She had cooked all his favorite meals in baby-size portions. Hopefully, he got the hint. However, Xavier could be oblivious sometimes, even if the clues were right in front of him.

“Wednesday, I am home. Why does it smell so good?” said Xavier.

Wednesday retorted, “What do you mean why does it smell so good? Are you inferring that my last cooked meals haven’t been decent?”

“Noooo, sweetie, all I’m trying to say is that you never prepared so much food for the two of us. Are we having guests over that I am not aware of?”

Considering there was a table full of various types of food, it was understandable for Xavier to be confused about the situation. Wednesday rarely cooked more than both would eat since they preferred fresh food daily. In one serving bowl, there were small carrots, while in another ceramic bowl, there were roasted baby potatoes with herbs. She even cut the meat into small portions to go with the theme. Many other food options were laid on the table. With any luck, Xavier would be able to figure out what Wednesday was trying to tell him without her having to tell him straight out. Wednesday and Xavier sat down and started putting food on their plates. Halfway through their meal, Wednesday observed Xavier and wondered if he would mention anything about the baby-size portion food.

Xavier started the conversation by asking her, “How was your day, sweetie? And why did you cook the food in smaller portions than typical? Afraid I will choke when eating, and you will become a widow.”

“Hahaha, you are not as funny as you think, dear husband. I went to the doctor to get some tests done and ensure everything was fine. After, I decided to stop by the store and buy something.” Wednesday said with a smirk.

“Oh yeah, what did the doctor say?”

Wednesday got up from her chair and walked over to the closet in the hallway. She took out a present wrapped up in black wrapping paper and walked towards her husband. “Here, I got this for you,” Wednesday told Xavier as she handed him the gift.

Xavier hesitantly accepted the gift. Wednesday was not the type of girl who went out of her way to purchase gifts for others unless it was an important date.

“You got me a present?”

Wednesday rolled her eyes, “Yeah, I got you a present. Open it.”

She watched as Xavier unwrapped the present slowly. Why couldn’t he hurry up, she thought. The waiting was agonizing, and not in a fun way.

Xavier took the lid of the box and looked inside. He looked down from the box up to Wednesday and down again. His forehead creased with confusion. He pulled out a baby onesie with the words “I HAVE THE BEST DAD EVER” written in front. Beside the onesie was a set of art supplies for kids with an album to store drawings. The album cover was designed with words that spelled “Here are the drawings my dad and I sketched.”

With tears in his eyes, Xavier got up from his chair, kneeled before Wednesday, and touched her stomach. “Are you saying what I think you are saying?” Xavier questioned Wednesday.

Wednesday cheerfully announced, “Yes, you’re going to be a dad! We’re going to be parents!”

Xavier stood up and embraced Wednesday and spun her around. He kissed her so hard she felt she would faint from all the emotions she was feeling at once.

They separated; Xavier took Wednesday’s hand and led her to their bedroom.

“I feel like the luckiest guy alive. I love you so much, Wednesday. Since I first looked at you, I knew I could never love anyone else because my heart belonged to you. Knowing that his baby is a result of our love has me overwhelmed. In a good way, though. ”

“Show me how much you love me,” Wednesday spoke.

“How?” Xavier pondered.

“By taking me over to that bed over there and making love to me repeatedly. Until we both don’t have the energy to leave bed until tomorrow. Mr. Thorpe.”

“Gladly, Mrs. Thorpe.”

With the sun setting down, all that could be heard was the sound of two people making love and the shadows of two bodies wrapped around each other.

Before falling asleep, Wednesday and Xavier decided to tell their parents soon. How? Well, they still weren’t sure. All they knew was that it would be amusing to watch the reaction of Morticia and Gomez once they realized they were going to be grandparents. As for Vincent Thorpe, let’s just say he better be prepared to have a child over at his house all the time because Xavier would not let his father be absent from his child’s life like Vincent was in his.
