Work Text:
An average school day, only this time it was their last day before a week off due to spring break and Akito couldn't be happier to have this break. School was quite exhausting especially if your also a street singer in a group trying to surpass a legend. So here Akito was finishing packing his bag then double checking if he had forgotten anything which he didn't so he then walked out to the front doors waiting for his partner, Toya.
Eventually 10 minutes passed by and still no sign of Toya. Odd. Toya's never late and even if he is, he would've given some sort of heads up before hand. Akito rushed towards the library trying to spot the dual haired boy.
He looked and looked but couldn't find the other and in all honesty Akito was getting a bit worried. Even so he kept searching until at the very back of the shelves he found a boy sleeping on a book. Of course it was Toya. He slowly walked over to Toya, and happened to see the book. Curiously he slowly slipped the book with this cushion he found on one of the bean bags beside the table.
Now by all means Akito did not like reading but the red head still got curious over the book. His hands traced the cover, it had a metallic font on top surrounded by some roses. The cover was beautiful. The book was titled, To my lover . When Akito flipped the first page there was a question.
What is home?
Home? Isn't home just somewhere you stay? He wondered.
However what he didn't notice was that Toya had already answered this question. There was a small sticky note at the bottom of the page and it said, Akito
It had his name. Now Akito was more than confused. Why would he be home? The other was definitely not going to get answers by just wondering all day. So he rushed over to grab a dictionary. A literal dictionary. Carefully he placed it on the table going through it looking for home.
Home is a noun that refers to the place where a person or animal lives. Home can also mean a location where something is native or very common. Home is also used as an adverb to describe something that occurs to, toward, or at home. Home has many other senses as a noun, adjective and adverb.
Well that rounded up to Akito's meaning but it didn't round up to Toya's meaning of why he wrote his name as the description of home. He thought for a moment, until it clicked.
First he had to answer, what was home?
Home is somewhere to go back to after a long day. Home is a comforting place. Home should be safe. He thought.
Akito looked at the other sleeping peacefully. So Akito was his comfort place? This entire time Akito never knew what home actually was and felt like because his house wasn't home nor was Toya's. Both Akito and Toya had family problems, living at home wasn't the worst for Akito but for Toya it felt like a hell hole.
He couldn't help but smile at the thought of Toya finding comfort in him just as he found comfort in Toya. Maybe Akito did love the boy dearly. Maybe he was in love with his partner. And Toya deserved everything and Akito was willing to give him everything. Now Toya's sticky note was making more sense.
Then he grabbed a sticky note and wrote down Toya and placed the sticky note right beside Toya's.
Akito didn't realise how much his face was heating up but it's not like he cared. His dignity was on the line but he didn't care because it was all for Toya. All the embarrassment left his body, he didn't even care how head over heels he was for this boy.
"Toya, I love you." He whispered ever so quietly.
He wasn't expecting an answer back until Toya actually did answer back.
"I love you too, Akito" The boy said, startling Akito.
He jumped a bit. "T-Toya?! Wait, how long were you awake?!" He asked because Toya did not at all sound like he just woke up.
Toya slowly lifted his head smiling at the other, "For a while, I actually was awake the entire time you were here." He chuckled.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me, that isn't a while Toya!"
Akito was full on burning up. So the love of his life watched him acting like an absolute idiot for the past 10 minutes? Great.
Before Akito protested again he saw Toya staring at his sticky note. He watched Toya smiling and oh did Akito fall in love again. He would trade the whole world for Toya's sweet smile. The things Akito would do for Toya.
"You wrote my name?"
Akito slowly nodded.
He chuckled again, "I'm your home, Akito?" Asking the other.
In a heartbeat Akito answered, "Yeah you are Toya. I'll always run back to you." He surprised himself with how fast he answered.
The loving smile forming on his face was all he needed to kiss the red head. He cupped the other's face pulling him close.
Despite the sudden kiss Akito didn't mind, he returned the kiss back. It was his first kiss, and it was with Toya. Neither of them were sure how to do this due to not having a single bit of relationship experience but that's okay. It'll always be okay because they were together. Whatever Toya did was always okay in his eyes. To Toya, Akito was the the ray of sunshine he needed in a cloudy day. To Akito, Toya was the rain a plant needed for support to grow. In the end they both needed each other, they needed each other to go on. They needed one another's support
The two slowly pulled back from the kiss looking at each other in silence. Not a single word was exchanged, the library was all quiet, it was only them. Just him and Akito.
"Toya, look what you did to me..." Akito said his face all red. He literally just confessed his feelings to his friend out of blue and then they kissed? Everything felt like a dream come true.
"Ah sorry, I just love you so much. You're the only person I'll ever feel this safe with. Meeting you was the best part of my life."
If Akito was in the right mindset, he probably would've cringed for Toya due to how cheesy he was being but truth be told Akito would've said these exact words back to Toya. Maybe not out loud but he definitely would say things like this in his head.
"You cheesy idiot, I love you too." He said, ruffling the other's hair.
"But I'm your cheesy idiot." Toya giggled.
And who was Akito to deny the other's words? "Yeah yeah sure." He smiled.
Some time passed before Akito finally noticed how late it was getting. "Hey, it's getting late. We should probably get going.
"Yeah, wait a bit outside though. I was in charge of closing the library."
"Alright." Akito said before walking out waiting for Toya.
After a minute or so Toya came out.
"Ready to go?" He asked
Toya nodded, holding out his hand. "Can we hold hands?"
"Sure, Toya." He held onto the boy's hand as they walked out of the library.
"Akito, can I ask a question?"
"Shoot."
"Are we boyfriends now?" He asked.
Without any hesitation Akito smiles lovingly at his now called boyfriend. "Yeah."
Toya smiled back. "My boyfriend is so handsome." Calling the other, "boyfriend" felt so nice.
Akito once again melted at Toya's words, he really fell in love with someone who was so cheesy and out of pocket sometimes. But only Akito knew that side of him and Akito would forever treasure this side of him.
Akito leaned in, wrapping his arms around the other's neck. "Yeah? Well my boyfriend's so beautiful." He teased.
Toya firmly held Akito's waist. "Are we really turning this into a competition?" He chuckled.
"So what if we are? I just want to remind my boyfriend how beautiful he looks." Akito giggled.
Toya only grinned before pulling Akito into another kiss. The kiss felt so addicting, they just wanted to kiss till they were breathless.
They were completely out in public but did they really care? Nope, they both were still in their own little world. Neither Akito nor Toya remembered they had places to go back to. But that's okay as long as they're in each others arms. And that was how their spring break started.
