Chapter Text
“Where am I supposed to go?!” Hyuck exclaims, something between a yell and utter shock, his voice cracks at the last word. By the looks they give him, they have heard him just fine.
“Don’t you have some friends? Just ask them to stay on their couch until you get to your feet.” Yuta says, as a matter of fact. Well, Donghyuck can immediately think of two reasons why that isn’t possible.
First: he has no friends (it’s important to note, that he, in fact, has two best friends who'd take him in in an instant - he is just insecure they don't like him that much). That’s a reality he’s come to accept. And it isn’t sad, and it isn’t tragic - he thinks he is better off alone anyway.
Second: he’s twenty. There’s no ‘getting on his feet anytime soon’. He hasn’t finished his teaching degree nor does he have a good relationship with his mother. Taeyong knows he is not one to go and beg his mother to take him in, thus he naturally avoided suggesting that. Which brings him back to the first problem…
Donghyuck bolts down to his knees, nose squished against the floor, hands at the sides of his head whilst saying “Please, please, please let me stay here. I’ll help around more. I’ll be quieter, I’ll clean better and you won’t even know I’m here.” Obviously his begging isn’t working as a heartfelt laughter erupts from both Yuta and Taeyong simultaneously. It slowly dies down, but he doesn’t move an inch until Taeyong grabs his arm and with soft tugs makes him get up from the linoleum floor.
“It’s not you, It’s us.” Jesus fucking christ, are they breaking up with him? He can’t handle being homeless and completely acquaintance-less in a span of ten minutes.
“We just really want to do it, Hyuckie. We are both ready to take it further,” before he can chirp in, Yuta continues, conscious of the words at the tip of Hyuck’s tongue, “and that means living together. Just the two of us. Without anyone, without you.” Ouch, the last part hurts, Donghyuck is trying his best to keep a straight face.
“Fine.” He says with more venom than necessary and heads for his soon-to-be ex room. Taeyong starts to speak up but he just waves his hand dismissively. Donghyuck’s hurt. He doesn’t want to see them ever again and hopes their relationship crumbles.
LATER THAT SAME DAY
Donghyuck has never been good at packing. He generally just throws his clothes into a big pile and force-closes the luggage by pressing his whole body against it. So that’s what he’s doing right now. If someone were to film him, he imagines it must be quite a funny sight. A scrawny little omega sitting on the top of a comically large suitcase, tugging the zippers so much they look like they might break in any minute. But he doesn't care, he wants to get out of here as soon as possible. Taeyong told him he has a few weeks until Yuta completely moves in; something about a lease in his own apartment; thus he theoretically doesn’t have to move out immediately. But his feelings are hurt. Badly. He realizes he and Taeyong have never been best friends, but the latter is the closest thing Donghyuck ever had to an older brother. And he feels betrayed.
Taeyong is at the age where, for an omega, he should have already been married. He is 28, after all, at the ripe of his fertility. In a way, Hyuck knew this was coming, yet he was not adequately prepared.
Somehow he manages to zip the suitcase all the way. After all this effort, he feels completely exhausted. He heads for the shared bathroom, on his tippy toes, in hopes he doesn't run into Taeyong nor Yuta - but thankfully, it seems they have gone out for the night. He locks the door after him, just in case, because one can’t be ever too careful. Donghyuck completely trusts Yuta, he is one of the few decent alphas, but it’s just a born omega cautiousness to make sure you’re safe in the most vulnerable moments. He takes one look at the loser staring back at him in the mirror, washes up and returns to his room. Hyuck passes out before setting up an alarm.
