Work Text:
Seek was standing in front of a canvas, a paintbrush in one hand and a palette in the other.
His many eyes observed the empty hallways, seeking inspiration for his latest piece. He could attempt realism again, he thought, eyes flickering back and forth, stuck between what to draw.
A sudden roar interrupted his thinking, his head whipping around to find the source of the noise.
“F-Figure!” He jumped, quickly trying to cover the easel, before it hit him.
“Oh. Right.” His body relaxed and he stepped forward. “Is there something you need?”
“The others…” Figure growled, his words barely intelligible, “Couldn’t find you…”
“Ah.” Suddenly it came to him; he’s been so lost in his own world trying to rid of his art block, he hasn’t seen the others in hours. It felt like mere minutes to him.
“I was busy, I apologize.” He turned back to his easel, trying to think of a way to lie his way out of this one. Figure may be blind, but that didn’t make him clueless.
“Doing… what…?” He tilted his head at Seek, suspicion rising.
Seek tried to hide his view from Figure again.
“Taking care of a player.” He blurted out without hesitation; the Figure immediately growled in response.
“Liar… No players.”
“How would you know?” He retorted.
“Past library… No players.”
Seek’s eye widened and he tilted his head past the easel to look at the number on the door. 72. Damn it! Right. He’d gotten the brush from Jeff, how could he forget…
“Okay, you caught me.” He looked back to Figure once more, his tall frame looming over Seek.
“I was…”
He let out a breath before continuing, “Painting. I was painting. Or well, looking for something to paint.”
He turned his body fully to face him.
“Painting…?” Figure nearly shouted, before promptly being pushed by Seek.
“Not so loud. And… yes.” He sighed, increasingly becoming embarrassed.
“Well.” The Figure paused, stepping even closer to Seek.
“If you… don’t know what to paint…” He attempted to grab one of his hands, facing his head to where it would be.
“Then paint… me.” He then lifted it before letting go.
And Seek considered it. The Figure didn’t look so bad, and it would be a nice change from just drawing furniture.
“Only if you never tell anyone,” he responded playfully.
The Figure didn’t say anything back, instead growling in the same cheerful tone before leaving the hallway entirely.
Weeks from then, a painting of him could be found hanging in his library, the artist forever remaining unknown to the hotel.
