Crimson Tears

Summary:

Princess Rosalynn never wanted a war in the first place but when you're locked in chains with warnings of death above your head no one asks.

Rowan is a criminal everywhere he goes but once he ends up on the good side of the story when he warns others of an upcoming war, no one listens to him. All he can say is that they can do it alone, and he’ll just watch it happen. Of course that doesn’t happen.

The small-town baker, Olive, was far too concerned about the recent passing of his mother, never even knowing a war was going to happen. If only they had known sooner, then maybe they wouldn’t feel stuck in an awful situation that keeps getting worse

Taryn always had their head in a book. They’ve always prided themselves in being smart, but they're starting to think they prefer books over the real world.

Violet always felt like an outcast to everyone else. They all felt something for people, things, and pets, but she never did. Unfortunately, all she can think about now is that she would rather go back to not feeling anything.

Chapter Text

When two kingdoms meet, it is never a good thing. In this case, the Queen of Moresevil and the King of Estrella had met a few days before Estrella’s heir’s birthday. They had met once before this. It had been before their children’s births.
However, that was several years ago before they began to clash. So here they sat, their children bickering in the background. “Queen Elena,” Esterlla’s king smiled, shaking Elena’s hand.
Elena hesitated before smiling back. “It’s wonderful to see you, Nicholas.” She shook his hand, sitting down across from Nicholas’s wooden desk.
Nicholas raised an eyebrow, “First name bases? Interesting,” He commented as he sat down across from her. Elena just smirked as she awaited the king.
“Well, with our history-”

“Our history of going to war?” he asked, arms crossed as he leaned into his chair.

She scoffed, “Is that why I’m here? You’re trying to stop us from declaring war?”

Nicholas smiled cheerfully, his curly hair blocking his eyes as he stared directly into Elena’s. “May I ask, how are your children?”
Her dark eyes glared at him. “My child is perfectly fine. I asked you a question, Capet. I expect an answer” She snipped impatiently.
He laughed, “You only have one child? Perfect.”

Elena sighed and stood up. “Unless you have something to add, My son and I will be leaving.” Moreevil’s queen walked over to where their children were fighting. She grabbed her son’s hand and started walking towards the door.
Nicholas went towards the door, “Hold on, Elena. I’m not done. I have a deal I’d like to make.”

Elena rolled her but stopped waking. “Please, let me hear it. So I can leave.”

“When my daughter is 19, I want your son to be her husband.”

Elena stared at the king. For many seconds, It was silent. She studied his face looking for any sign of a hoax. She then began to crackle. “No. Your kingdom, let alone your daughter, has nothing to offer me or my son.”
“We have money. Don’t you want money?”

“I don’t need your money. My kingdom is plenty richer than yours.”

“Protection?”

“With what magic? Your kingdom has a single magic user and she doesn't like you very much.”

King Nicholas began to smile, “I was hoping you’d ask,” He went and grabbed a little girl. She was no older than 8. Maybe 7. She had long dark hair that fell past her shoulders. Her eyes shined an emerald green, they had yet to see the dangers of the world... She was the spitting image of her father, who smiled proudly upon seeing her.

“Elena, meet Rosalyn. My daughter. She possesses little magical talent but enough to where I believe you’d be curious.”
Elena hummed thoughtfully as she looked at Rosalyn. She was a beautiful child, she must admit. Yet was she good enough for her soon? She didn’t look to possess any magical talent despite the pointed ears.
Nicholas picked up his daughter and covered her ears, “She can’t die. It’s been attempted many times. Very few of us know why she can’t. Myself being one out of three. Maybe even four soon?” He asked with a smirk. He uncovered his daughter’s ears and shooed her off.

Elena bit the inside of her cheek, it was a tempting offer but what good did it give her? “As wonderful as that sounds, why do I care?”
Nichloas’s smirk dropped. “Why do you care?

He couldn’t believe this, how did she not realize? “Isn’t it obvious? With the skills of a knight and a princess, you’d have not just a soldier but a queen.”

Elena’s eyes lit up, she looked down at her son, still so small and young but would soon enough have the one everyone wanted. “It’s a deal.”
