"Shit!" Bakugou screamed as he fired a few more shots at the villain giving them chase. "The ass hole is gaining on us!"
"Get back here you brats!" The villain shouted as he picked up a boulder and threw it. "i just want to smash your faces in a little!"
"Quick! Get in that cave!" Bakugou shouted to his companion. "I hate the idea of running but we need to wait for back up!"
"I can't! It's too dark in there!" Tokoyami shouted back.
Suddenly another boulder was flying at them. Bakugo aimed his hands behind him and blasted the sweat in his palms. He rammed into Tokyami, driving them both into a cave.
"Nooooo!" Tokoyami shouted.
As the two flew into the cave, rolling on the ground upon entrance, the boulder crashed into the opening cutting off all light.
"Bakugou! Dark Shadow! I can't control it!" Tokoyami cried out as he sat up on his knees. "I can't!" He put his hands on his head and began to scream as Dark Shadow became more and more chaotic. It began to to screech and laugh as it knocked down a few stalactites.
Bakugou cursed and ran over to him. "Calm down bird brain or you'll tear the whole place down! I have some light." He held out his hand and little sparks of flamed danced in his palm. "Is this enough?"
Dark Shadow hissed a few curses and lowered down. Tokoyami moved his hands away and looked. Relief washed over him. He felt Dark Shadow slowly melt back into him and sagged with relief.
"Thank you Bakugou." He breathed.
"Good. Now we need to figure out how to get the fuck out of here." Bakugou stood up, keeping his palm lowered for Tokoyami. "That villain was a lot bigger than the report said. Piece of shit." He spat.
"I think... I think my ankle might be broken." Tokoyami winced as he moved his leg out in front of him to examine it.
"Let me see." Bakugou got down to look. "Shit." He hissed out in irritation. "It's black and blue all over. Of course it's broken. Why didn't you say anything?!"
Tokoyami's eyes snapped to his. "When? We were running for our lives a few minutes ago. You slammed us into this cave with out hesitation. I didn't know it was broken until now."
Bakugou narrowed his eyes and curled his lip. "Are you trying to say this is my fault? Either those feather are growing thick in your skull or you're an idiot."
Tokoyami looked down at his ankle. "No, but there wasn't anything we could do. You're quick thinking might have saved my life. For that I am thankful, broken ankle or not."
Bakugou sighed and stood back up. "How did it even happen?"
"One of the rocks the villain threw hit me." Tokoyami said quietly. "I should have said something but I didn't want to burden you."
Bakugou looked down at him. "You aren't a burden idiot." His eyes soften slightly. "It must have hurt like a bitch too."
A light pink dusted Tokoyami's features. "Yeah. I think the adrenaline rush took out the pain."
Bakugou cleared his throat and continued looking around. "Gotta be a way out of here. The others should be here by now too."
"Hey, how long will your flames last?" Tokoyami's voiced concern.
"NO WHERE TO RUN BRATS!" The villain could be heard outside screaming and slamming things around. The cave shook, causing Tokoyami to wince.
"Fucker won't give up." Bakugou spat. "I'd love to take him head on and make him shut up."
"Sorry." Tokoyami muttered.
Bakugou looked back at him. "Shut up."
Suddenly Tokoyami felt a chill. Somewhere ahead was a bit of air coming into the cave. He enjoyed the way it cooled his skin but froze when he realized exactly what that would mean. He began to shake.
"Bakugou..." He breathed.
Bakugou didn't look at him. "I know. I don't know how much light I can keep up in here."
Tokoyami felt dread burst into his chest. He could feel Dark Shadow swimming beneath the surface, trying to get out and it was getting harder and harder to stop it. If it went dark, it was over. Dark Shadow would go berserk and cave them in. He was certain.
"You need to keep calm." Bakugou spoke to him. "If you panic it will make it worse."
Tokoyami gritted his teeth. "I know that." He took a deep breath, willing Dark Shadow to stay calm. "But it isn't easy. Dark Shadow has a mind of its own."
The sparks in Bakugou's palm grew dimmer. "Fuck. It's too cool in here. I can't keep the sweat in my hands."
Tokoyami's eyes widened. "No. I can't." He then squeezed them shut. "Please..." He whispered to Dark Shadow. "Just stay there."
Dark Shadow began to fight harder. Bits of the black shadow started to snake out and he could hear Dark Shadow laughing manically.
Bakugou got on his knees next to him. "Hey. Stop it." He growled. "You can't let that thing out right now."
Tokoyami still squeezed his eyes shut and nodded. "I know." He managed.
"If it gets out this whole place will come down on us." Bakugou placed a hand on Tokoyami's shoulder. "Just focus."
"I'm TRYING!" Tokoyami screamed as the last of Bakugou's light died out and Dark Shadow burst free.
Tokoyami screamed as Dark Shadow laughed, shooting up to the roof to knock down more stalactites.
His screams were then cut off as Bakugou sealed his mouth over Tokoyami's. Dark Shadow froze its wild rampage and looked down at Tokoyami in surprise. It spat a curse and slowly went back inside.
Tokoyami went limp against Bakugou, who wrapped his arms around the other. He continued to kiss Tokoyami with a fierceness that matched his way of fighting. Tokoyami had wound his own arms around Bakugou in turn, lost in the kiss, forgetting the darkness around them.
When Bakugou pulled away Tokoyami whimpered slightly.
Bakugou rested his head on Tokoyami's forehead. "It's going to be ok." He whispered, not letting the other go.
Tokoyami just gulped some air and nodded.
"I'm going to let you go to find an exit. Just stay here and don't let Dark Shadow out." Bakugou spoke softer that Tokoyami had ever heard.
"Ok." He whispered. He could feel Dark Shadow inside but it wasn't trying escape anymore. It seemed oddly calm.
Bakugou went to stand but Tokoyami pulled him back down into another kiss. This one a bit deeper. He could feel Dark Shadow melt into the background as a new calm heat washed through him. It was a feeling he never had before and didn't want to let it go yet.
Bakugou pulled away slightly. "Idiot. You act like I'm gonna disappear into the darkness." he spoke, mingling their breath together.
"Won't you?" Tokoyami whispered.
"As much as I like fireworks and sparks, I think I like the dark better." Bakugou grinned against his lips.
Suddenly a loud crash rang above. Both looked up in time to see a huge rock coming down at them. Bakugou pulled Tokoyami under him and shielded him from the rock but nothing happened. They starred into each others eyes for a moment before Bakugou looked up.
"Took you long enough!" He shouted up.
"Are you guys ok?!" Deku shouted down. His hand was steaming from punching the top of the cave in.
Uraraka was next to him, fingers together and holding the rock up with her quirk.
"Tokoyami broke his ankle." Bakugou yelled back to them and he stood up.
Deku nodded and jumped to shove the rock away. Him and Uraraka both jumped into the cave next.
"Hang on Tokoyami." Uraraka said as she touched him, causing him to raise up off the ground.
Bakugou held his hand to help guide him up towards the opening. When he let go Tokoyami felt he hand burn where Bakugou touch it. He floated out through the opening and she followed after. When she pulled him closer to the open ground she let him fall into the soft grass.
Deku stood by Bakugou. "I can't believe he was able to help keep Dark Shadow at bay. That's never happened before."
"I didn't do much." Bakugou grunted. "Where's the villain?"
Deku looked at him with an eye quirked. "What do you mean YOU didn't do much?"
Bakugou stiffened before glaring at Deku. "WHAT DO YOU FUCKING KNOW?!" He then blasted his hand down and shot out of the cave after the other two.
He made his way to Tokoyami who was starring up at the sky in a slight daze. His eyes moved to follow Bakugou when the other drew closer. Bakugou looked around before kneeling and grabbing Tokoyami's hand.
Tokoyami looked up surprised. "Bakugou..."
"Shut up." Bakugou grunted. "I just wanted to make sure you were ok."
"I'm fine. Dark Shadow is calm, calmer... calmer than he has been before. It's very strange." Tokoyami looked over at their hands. "You don't have to stay and pretend."
Bakugou glared at him. "Pretend what?"
Tokoyami's face reddened before he turned his face back up to the sky. "Pretend you want to be with me. I'm not like you after all."
Bakugou looked pissed. "Are you fucking serious. Do you think I would pretend to have feelings for you just to save our asses?"
Tokoyami looked over again sharp enough to hurt his neck. "Feelings?"
"What does it matter if you're different. Maybe that's why I like your dumbass." Bakugou still glared at him.
"Like me?" Tokoyami repeated in a lost echo.
"You really do have feathers for brains." He leaned over to where there was less than and inch of space between them. "Let me make it clear." He kissed Tokoyami rougher than before. "Got it?"
Tokoyami was stunned. "W-why?"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHY?!" Bakugou was yelling now.
"I mean, I'm half a crow and can't control my own shadow." Tokoyami managed. "Who want that?"
Bakugou rolled his eyes. "It's pure chaos and destruction." He grinned madly next. "As King Murder Explosion it's exactly what I want." He ran his hand over Tokoyami's beak. "This shit don't bother me either. You're still a person."
Tokoyami's eyes fluttered closed with a thoughtful hum as Bakugou's hand caressed him.
"Ummmm you ready to go?" Deku's voice interrupted them.
They both looked to see him and Uraraka standing by. Her face was blushed as she smiled. Deku didn't seem phased in the least and acted like everything was normal.
"Can't you see we are having a moment!?" Bakugou shouted.
"Yeah but the villain is still on the loose. We kinda need to stop him." Deku pointed out.
"Go." Tokoyami squeezed Bakugou's hand. "We can discuss this later... if you want." He added on quickly.
Bakugou turned to him with narrowed eyes. "Nothing to discuss." He let go of his hand and placed both palms on Tokoyami's face. He ingited the smallest sparks in his palms causing Tokoyami to jolt slightly before Bakugou kissed him. "See you later."
Tokoyami nodded and turned his face back to the sky. He heard the other leave in a rush and could also hear the sirens on the way to him. His ankle pulsed with pain but he couldn't feel it. He was too focused on the tingling sensation on his lips and the bright sky above.
"The darkness isn't so bad." He said softly to breeze.
