Chapter 1: Prequel

Chapter Text

*Ping!*
*Ping!*
*Ping!*
*Ping Ping!*

The sound echoed around the stone walls of the basement at 24 Mountain Road. Sebastian reached over the edge of his bed to the floor where is phone had been laying. The bright screen burned his eyes as he unlocked to a flurry of text messages from Sam and Abby. Curious, he rubbed his deep brown eyes and tapped open the first message:
"DUDE!" Sam had written in all caps.
Still groggy, Sebastian started to type a response before his phone pinged again, this time from Abby.
"She's here!" The text read.
"Did you see her? What does she look like??" Sam quickly slipped into the group chat
"Seb, ask your mom!" He added without even waiting for a reply to his previous question.

It took Sebastian a moment to figure out what the commotion was before rolling his eyes.
Rumors spread easily and swiftly in Pelican Town and the latest was that the old abandoned farm that old man Max's granddaughter was moving in to take it over. He didn't see the big deal, if anything it was annoying how excited everyone was over her arrival. As long as she left him alone, he would be happy. Having Abby and Sam was all he needed anyway. Socializing with yet another person regularly sounded like a chore he wasn't up for. Turning his phone on silent, he fell back onto his pillow. If his friends wanted to freak out over it, that was on them; he wasn't interested in the farmer, whatever she was here fore or becoming friends with her.

Turning over, a curtain of raven locks fell over her eyes as he closed them once again, hoping the hype would die down when he woke up for his afternoon cigarette.
