Work Text:

Katsuki liked sharing an apartment with Izuku. Usually. He’s said it before and he’ll say it again. Izuku is neat and clean, except for when he’s not.

Katsuki had to fucking brace himself every time he walked into their shared bathroom, because nine times out of ten, Izuku left the sink unwashed. Meaning his gross-ass, spitty toothpaste was all over the ceramic, hardened to cement, and poor Katsuki had to scrub it off. He was always seconds away from putting Izuku into a chokehold every time he came across it, but Izuku was always conveniently out of the house. It drove Katsuki up the fucking wall

Katsuki debated leaving the mess for Izuku to clean up, but it would probably be impossible to scrape off once the seven hours of Izuku’s shift passed. So Katsuki just had to do it himself. He literally had no choice. It would ruin his sink otherwise.

“Izuku fucking Midoriya,” Katsuki hissed when Izuku came through the door at five o’clock that evening. Izuku paused, giving him a look that said, what the fuck did I do now?

“You know what you did,” Katsuki said.

“I literally just got here,” Izuku deadpanned. He continued untying his laces, leaving his shoes by the door.

“You know what you did, ” Katsuki repeated.

“Kacchan, I literally just got here ,” Izuku said, “I’ve been in the apartment for a whole thirty seconds.”

“The fucking sink, dumbass. It’s every damn day. You do it every damn day and I’m sick of it!”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Izuku asked desperately, looking at Katsuki like he was going crazy. Katsuki grit his teeth. He was on his last fucking nerve.

“Your fucking toothpaste! You don’t have the decency or class to wash the fucking sink out after you brush your teeth!” Katsuki shouted, gripping his hair in frustration. “It’s giving me a damn brain aneurysm!” Izuku stood still in front of him, his face passive and blank. Katsuki couldn’t tell what he was thinking. His bag was still hoisted on one shoulder, and he looked exhausted. Katsuki felt a twinge of guilt pang through him for confronting him right after work.

“My… toothpaste?” Izuku asked. Katsuki took a deep breath. Then he took Izuku by the arm and dragged him towards the bathroom.

“Sit.” Katsuki made sure Izuku was seated on the toilet seat. He grabbed his own toothbrush from the cup next to the sink and he picked up the toothpaste. He made a show of aggressively brushing his teeth while Izuku watched, a confused look accentuating his lips and brows. Not that Katsuki frequently noticed his lips and brows.

“What is happening?” Izuku asked.

Katsuki spit out his toothpaste into the sink.

“Do you see that?” Katsuki asked, pointing at it.

“I see it.”

“Watch this.” Katsuki turned on the water again. He splashed the water onto the side of the sink and watched as his spit washed down the drain. It was so fucking easy . A fucking child could do it.

“This is what you need to do in the morning,” Katsuki said. Izuku just nodded.

“Okay, Kacchan.”

“Can you do that?”

“Yes.”

“Are you sure? ”

“Uh huh.” Katsuki let out a breath. He felt relief flood through him. It had been stressing him out all day, and when he gets stressed, he cleans. The apartment was spotless, the counters were sparkling, and even the couch had been vacuumed. Katsuki slumped back against the counter.

“Feel better now?” Izuku asked. Katsuki just nodded and turned around, making his way out of the bathroom and to the kitchen.

“I saved you some food,” he said. Izuku joined him in the kitchen.

“Thanks, Kacchan.” Katsuki just hummed. It was the least he could do, after he just attacked him for a habit he didn’t even know he was doing. Could he have approached it differently? Probably.

“This is good!” Izuku said, mouth half full.

“You’re welcome.” Izuku grinned, and they sat in the kitchen together in silence as Izuku finished eating and Katsuki scrolled through his phone.

“Movie?” This was their Thursday night routine. Izuku got home, he showered, they ate, and then they watched movies until they fell asleep on the couch. Then Katsuki would wake up from the discomfort in his back and shake Izuku awake, and they would go their separate ways to their own bedrooms.

“Duh, dumbass,” Katsuki said. Izuku just smiled at him. Dumbass was a nickname , okay? It was always said with no heat behind it.

They picked out a cheesy All Might movie that they’d both seen hundreds of times. They wound up on two different sides of the couch, their legs stretched down the middle with their feet almost touching. Katsuki could occasionally feel Izuku’s socked foot brush his.

Katsuki could feel himself drifting off slowly, and he could hear Izuku snoring across the room. It wasn’t loud, but he was able to tell Izuku had been out for quite a while. He deserved the rest.

Instead of letting himself fall asleep, as much as he wanted to, he got up off the couch and walked over to Izuku.

“Izu,” he said. He shook him lightly.

“Huh,” Izuku muttered, blinking slowly as he readjusted to the light coming from the TV.

“Go to bed,” Katsuki said.

“Fuck,” Izuku said, “too tired.”

“What, do I need to carry you or some shit?”

“Can you?” Katsuki weighed the pros and cons. There were no cons, so there was no reason to say no.

“Alright.” He leaned down and picked Izuku up bridal style. He was all muscle and almost weighed as much as Katsuki, making him stumble slightly under his weight. Izuku just giggled, delirious. Katsuki slowly made his way to Izuku’s bedroom. He set him down gently, tossing the blankets over him and flicking off the lamp.

“Goodnight, Kacchan,” Izuku said.

“G’night, Izu.” Katsuki went back to the living room and shut off the TV before climbing into his own bed. He wrapped himself in his blanket and sighed. What a long day. At least the house was sparkly clean, and Izuku was well fed and sleeping peacefully.

The next morning, there was no toothpaste in the sink.
