Work Text:
It was no surprise, Gojo coming home late to find dinner on the table and a sleeping Nanami on their bed.
It had been a long night, way too long.
Sure, at this point cutting up limbs and bodies of curses were no challenge for Gojo Satoru himself, it was easy for the most part, excruciatingly so actually. Often times he found himself bored of how quickly the cursed spirits splattered, turned to dust before his eyes. But when those damned higher ups sent him that far away it was exhausting, Gojo will admit, he’s the strongest but not the most patient (that award goes to Nanami), being on the road all day with Nanami being the only thing on his mind really messed things up inside his head. God he was tired.
It takes the very last of Gojo’s endurance to not pass out right the and there, on the kitchen floor dressed and everything. His limbs feel heavy, his feet aching for some rest.
Through all that he, somehow, manages to throw his belongings onto the couch and stumble into his and Nanami’s shared bedroom as quietly as he can. He hears Nanami’s even deep breaths as he fumbles with the knob, opens a drawer and pulls out whatever is on top. Then he peels his dirty clothes off, rinses himself off and steps into a fresh pair of boxers before very briefly splashing his face with cold water.
He lets the cooling sensation linger for a bit to work against his heating skin before drying it off.
Then he sneaks into their bedroom again, snapping his fingers to turn off the light behind him.
He’s careful not to wake the other up, but that particularly creaky floorboard that Nanami was thinking of replacing makes it difficult. Maybe they really should get it replaced, he thinks as it screeches, threatening to wake Nanami from his slumber.
Then he snakes below the covers, trying not to take too much of it like he always does and lies down facing Nanami. Like magic, really annoying magic actually (which wasn’t uncommon nor weird in the world they live in) all his sleepiness vanishes as soon as his head hits the pillow. Typical, isn’t it?
A quiet groan of relief escapes his lips, the darkness soothe his eyes, the soft bed relieve his muscles.
A soft spot of moonlight lights Nanami’s sleeping body up, highlighting parts of his face leaving the rest in darkness, Gojo let’s all six eyes linger on his sleeping form, and in complete awe he props his head up on his hand, supported by his elbow.
He traces Nanami’s features with his eyes, from his forehead to his eyes and long eyelashes to the bridge of his nose, he follows the distinct flat area to the tip of it, then he goes down the shadow of his defined cheekbone down to his mouth hanging slightly open, lips chapped. If Nanami was awake right now he’d kiss those lips.
A smile grows on Gojo’s face, a gentle one, nowhere near the giant grins he’d share with Nanami from day to day but still he feels the same warmth blossom inside him. He sighs contently, tilting his head to get a better view.
Nanami stirs a little, closing his mouth and turning to face Gojo completely.
Gojo sucks in a breath, it’s odd, maybe even scary how often he gets mesmerised by Nanami’s face after this long of spending nearly every day together, every morning he shines brighter than the morning sun, when they kiss Nanami tastes better than any candy Gojo’s ever had and when he just stares like this he never knows what he did to deserve this, how he got so lucky.
”keep your eyes to yourself Satoru” Nanami suddenly says in that deliciously deep sleepy voice of his, the smile on Gojo’s face evolves into a grin.
“Sorry Kento, You’re just so pretty when you’re asleep” Gojo mutters, reaching out to cradle Nanami’s cheek.
“That sounds creepy”
“You’re usually so annoyed, sleeping is the only time you’re actually relaxed!”
“Yeah, I wonder who’s fault that is”
“Rude”
Gojo Fake pouts as Nanami opens his eyes, which are still glazed with sleep. He sighs and lets a gentle smile ghost his face before shifting closer to Gojo and pressing his lips against Satoru’s. It’s sweet despite Nanami’s toothpaste being a bit too minty for Gojo’s liking, he realises he probably forgot to brush his own but that’s a tomorrow Gojo problem.
He wraps his arms around Kento, pulling him closer as they part, then he leans back in again, they part, and they collide again.
“Missed you” Nanami mumbles, sleep settling in his voice as eyes as he closes them again.
“Missed you more” Gojo smiles as Nanami tucks his head under Gojo’s chin, settling his hands wherever he could reach that was Gojo’s body, Gojo’s arms squeeze Nanami tighter.
“Do we have work tomorrow?” Nanami asks, barely able to keep himself awake.
“Nope, let’s spend it together, just you and me hm?”
“Great” Nanami mutters before sighing happily and probably falling asleep immediately after.
“Night Kento”
