This was written in the context of the Eruri Matchmaking event 2023 (or rather, finished for that purpose). When there's art to accompany it, I will link it. This event is very chill and there is no need to post the fanfic and the art on the same day (especially if the fanfic is posted first since the notes can always be edited!). Written in collab with Evanie (@sadgasmgirl on Twitter)!

This first chapter will be the index so I will use these notes to leave all the extra info.

This is loosely inspired by "Eastern Promises" (2007) dir. David Cronenberg, in the whole Russian and Ukranian prostitution and human trafficking scene especially. I didn't really have a location in mind when I wrote it, but since I write in BrE, I suppose you can say it's set in the UK. The film is also set in the UK so there's that. This was started before the war and all that tragedy that is still on-going, so there is no agenda here or propaganda or anything. Even though I naturally stand with Ukraine and have donated to its relief funds campaigns. Putting that out there.

So, this is being revised but I will be posting it all at once because that's how I roll. Any mistakes you spot are my own fault, Emica can only do so much for a lost cause (me) /hj and my good homie R. also read this and approved, so there's that. That's where the reference to the rainbow and the song comes from! If you haven't watched that anime maybe you're missing out. There are some similarities, but not many, because, in this case, Levi's gender matches his "unconventional" agab in a dramatic context. I wanted to go for a "what if" kind of approach to think about the concept of the arbitrariness of gender. I do not want critiques. This is a fanfic. I have warned for everything there is to be warned. Content you don't like will exist whether you want it or not, so be thankful some people still warn for it, so that you can avoid what you don't like. Not being a dick when someone took the time to warn is the least you can do. There are heavy themes here and everything is tagged and handled according to my maybe questionable sense of justice.
