Work Text:
In the House of Lamentation, a heavy atmosphere fills the air as Lucifer paces back and forth in his study. His normally stern expression is replaced by a troubled frown. The memory of punishing Mammon using the electric chair (instead of hanging him upside down from the ceiling) haunts him relentlessly. Deep inside, he knows he went too far, but pride and anger clouded his judgment.
As days pass, guilt gnaws at Lucifer's heart, and he decides to find Mammon and make amends. He learns that Mammon has secluded himself in the human world, definitely distancing himself from the first born.
Lucifer opens a portal to the human world and finds Mammon living in a small apartment. The sight of his little brother looking so lost tugs at his heart. He takes a deep breath, mustering his courage, and knocks on the door.
Mammon's eyes widen in surprise as he opens the door to find Lucifer standing there. His initial defensive stance softens slightly, replaced by confusion and hurt. "W-What do ya want, Lucifer?"
With a sincere tone, Lucifer replies, "I came to apologize, Mammon. I was harsh and impulsive, and I deeply regret my actions. I shouldn't have let my anger consume me."
To say Mammon was shocked is an understatement. This was totally unexpected. He hesitates for a moment, studying Lucifer's face for any sign of insincerity. Seeing none, he lets out a sigh. "Ya don't get it, do ya? I betrayed ya all. I almost committed a treason. I deserved the punishment."
Lucifer shakes his head, stepping closer to his brother. "Yes, you made a mistake, but you're still family. I should have been there to support you instead of punishing you without understanding your reasons. You were just acting on your sin."
As they talk, emotions flow freely. Mammon admits his fears and insecurities, while Lucifer realizes his own shortcomings as an older brother. Slowly, the walls between them start to crumble.
Days turn into weeks, and Lucifer spends time with Mammon, helping him come to terms with his actions and encouraging him to forgive himself. They bond over shared memories and experiences, mending the rift that had formed between them.
As the brothers grow closer, Lucifer sees a positive change in Mammon. He takes responsibility for his actions, working to make amends to the others and proving his loyalty. With Lucifer's guidance, Mammon begins to see his true worth beyond just being the Avatar of Greed.
Eventually, the day comes when they return to the Devildom together. The brothers are surprised to see a softer, more compassionate side of Lucifer, and they slowly accept his change as well.
The redemption arc continues as Lucifer works to be a better brother and leader. His regret over punishing Mammon becomes a turning point in his life, teaching him the importance of understanding and empathy.
The bond between Lucifer and Mammon strengthens, and they both learn valuable lessons about forgiveness, redemption, and the power of family. In the end, their journey leads to a stronger and more united brotherhood, forged through understanding and unconditional love.
