Work Text:

A young architect bright like the sun, shines to help others throughout their hardships. A scribe as quiet as the moon shines only with his light although he does not complain. That's what the outsider makes off of their relationship. To the more observant eye it is clear that obviously both of them are stars, shining together and bringing out the good in each other. Creating constellations through the empty night sky. One shines bright enough for himself although the other basically a faint hint of light without company. For the fainter one to function properly, the brighter one needed to be around to help him. He didn't mind. He enjoyed the company. . . . Alhaitham had been working late as of the past week, ever since the whole "New God" fiasco. He came home late, left early and didn't really question whatever his dear roommate was doing. He was a grown man after all. He could take care of himself. Kaveh didn't need a babysitter. Alhaitham enters the house, the sound of his keys breaking the very loud silence. It was around 1 am so he had assumed his roommate was asleep. Although he did have a record of staying up late to finish projects before they could pile up. He was an "organized mess" in one of their friends, Dehya's words. Of course when he actually made his way through the hallway, he realized the light of Kaveh's room was open. He scoffs and knocks on the door. A faint 'Come in…' is heard so the door opens. There sits a man who could be best described as a ghost of his former glory. Towers of crumpled up paper surrounding his workplace, some empty- broken..? fountain pens thrown in the trash bin and the faint smell of slowly rotting food. Alhaitham was, shocked to say the least. He knew how Kaveh would sometimes lose track of everything unless someone was around to guide him, at least reminding him what to do but this..? This felt like negligence. Kaveh was hovering over a sketch, scribbling something? Alhaitham couldn't speak for a second, only watching the other man. "Kaveh?" The other man tensed up and turned towards his roommate. Dark circles under his eyes, his lips dryer than the Hypostyle Desert. He looked unwell. "Oh, Haitham. You're home! Welcome!" The man stands up only to stagger and fall to be caught by Alhaitham. To that he just laughs. "I've been sitting down for the past few days. Thanks for the catch." Past few days… That group of words echo in Alhaitham's mind for what feels like an eternity until he snaps back to reality by Kaveh coughing. More like wheezing. He must've been dehydrated. Before Kaveh could even process anything, he is picked up by the taller male and carried to the living room. The scribe sits the foolish architect down and brings over a pitcher full of water and a glass. "Drink up, Blondie." "Tha- *hack* Thank you, Haitham." Within a few minutes, the almost 2 liter pitcher is empty. Having been drinking without a break, Kaveh gasps for air. Alhaitham had left the room once the last glass was poured, attempting to cook something. Kaveh sat there nervously, twiddling with his thumbs. Soon Alhaitham exited the kitchen with two plates of pita pockets. "Can you stand up? I want to eat outside." He actually didn't want to eat outside. He felt like Kaveh needed a change of scenery and some fresh air. How foolish was he to forget to take care of himself? Kaveh slowly stood up and they walked outside. Alhaitham sat down at the porch and Kaveh sat down next to him. They ate in silence for a while. Then Alhaitham finally gathered the courage to break the silence. "How foolish do you have to be to forget and take care of himself?!" That was a bit harsher than he intended.. Kaveh looked at him, pouting. "I don't forget. I just… can't seem to find the will to actually complete a task unless I'm reminded to complete it by somebody else." He laughs weakly. "Quite foolish indeed. Needing somebody to remind me every task." Alhaitham doesn't speak further. They continue to eat in silence once again before it's broken but by Kaveh this time. "You know…" He points at the Northern Star "That star reminds me of you. Always shining so bright and never needing anybody to carry yourself. I admire you, Haitham." Alhaitham watched the star for a while. Although the observations were correct, he thought it might not be best to bring it up now. Kaveh points at a fainter star this time. "And that one's me. In the same constellation with you but never matching your shine. The only time I'm recognized is when someone first identifies you." It was late and Kaveh was feeling honest. Maybe he was a little drowsy. Alhaitham sighs. "Although the Northern Star example was correct- ow!" He gets punched in the arm. "Anyways. I think you are more like the sun. You shine the brightest and help everyone else but yourself. Inside, you're eating yourself up to keep up appearances." He stops to think for a moment. "It's like an act. Although… you don't seem to out up that act when we're alone. You're more sincere." . . . Silence. Followed by more silence. Alhaitham was doubting himself while Kaveh was preparing himself for something that he could never dare to even think of before. . . . Alhaitham parts his lips to say something but he is interrupted by a pair of lips crashing into his. He freezes up for a second, then gives in to the kiss. The young men kiss for a while before parting, gasping for air. "What was that for?" Alhaitham laughed teasingly. "I DON'T KNOW! SOMETHING CAME OVER ME I-" Kaveh tried explaining himself, panicking. He was interrupted by a small peck on the lips. "Shut it, Blondie." . . . The young men sit in silence that night, not uttering a single word after that. After around 10 minutes, Kaveh falls asleep since he finally relaxes after days. Alhaitham carries him inside to his room and removes the rotten rubbish out, thinking about the blonds star observation. It was then he made a promise to himself that he would never let the other fall into this sense of aimlessness ever again. If he was the Northern Star, he was going to do his job guiding Kaveh through hardships.

Notes:

This sucks and it's rushed 😍
