I've been loving you for quite some time

Summary:

Mark leans forward, placing one hand on the table as he cages the guy in. He still has a smile on his face, but it’s not his normal sweet one, it’s forced and the harsh looks tells he’s anything but happy right now.

“I would appreciate it if you didn’t talk about my boyfriend like that.”

Time freezes for a moment as Jaemin registers what just came out of Mark’s mouth. Boyfriend?

Work Text:

Jaemin ordered two drinks from the barista, one for him and the other one for Renjun who is currently waiting for him outside. The barista he ordered from was friendly, but still a little strange as she stared down Jaemin even after Jaemin was finished giving her his order.

Jaemin waves his hand in front of them. “You still there?”

The barista snaps out of it, shaking her head with a blush. “Uh, sorry. Name?”

Jaemin smiles, “It’s fine. It’s Jaemin.”

The barista nodded, still blushing a little as she tells Jaemin to wait off to the side while she gets the drinks ready. Jaemin does just that, waiting by the pickup side while lazily browsing on his phone. He scrolls through his messages, glancing at the memes Donghyuck sent him this morning as he was running late for his class, finally ending with a selfie of him with messy hair and a thumbs up letting Jaemin know he made it. He doesn’t know how the boy manages to sleep in so much, but still make it to class on time, a miracle if you ask him.

“Jaemin?”

Jaemin looks up after pocketing his phone. “Thank you,” he smiles as he grabs the drinks and starts to head to the door.

“Renjunnie, here,” Jaemin deposits the drink into Renjun’s outstretched hand. He’s about to take a sip when he’s interrupted by a very loud cough. He looks up to Renjun to see the boy staring at him, one cute eyebrow raised.

“Jaem, this is yours.”

Jaemin blinks because they always order the exact same thing when they go here, unless it’s coffee but they both decided to go for something fruity since Renjun put Jaemin on a coffee ban. Unfair, if you ask Jaemin, but Renjun stated he didn’t give a fuck, so it’s out of Jaemin’s hands.

“We ordered the same thing though?”

Renjun doesn’t say anything as he turns the cup around to show what’s written on it.

“Again?” Jaemin scoffs as he trades drinks so he can look at the number written on the cup more closely, and sure enough there’s a winky face with the words call me under it.

“There’s another number on the back,” Renjun hums as he takes a sip of his drink.

Jaemin turns the cup and sure enough, there’s another completely different number on the back.

“How many times does this make it now? Five? Six?” Renjun wonders out loud.

Jaemin sighs as he sets his drink on a table and starts to walk away, he doesn’t really feel like drinking it now. Sometimes people like to add in free things to his drinks, their way of flirting maybe, but it makes Jaemin uncomfortable. Who knows what they added in it.

“I don’t know, I don’t keep count of how many times people write their numbers on my cups,” Jaemin sighs.

“Here,” Renjun says as he hands him his own drink. “You can have the rest.”

“Thank you,” Jaemin pouts, bringing Renjun into a hug by wrapping his arms around him and squeezing, like a koala.

“Of course,” Renjun squirms back until Jaemin finally releases him. He checks his phone that goes off in his pocket. “That’s probably Jisung, I think he’s done with his class now. Want to come with me to pick him up?”

Jaemin perks up at the mention of Jisung. “Please, I feel like I haven’t seen him in weeks.” He grabs onto Renjun’s hand and begins to drag him in the direction of Jisung’s criminology classes.

“You saw him yesterday?” Renjun says, but Jaemin’s not listening.

They make their way across campus until they end up in Jisung’s building where most of his classes are held. His class is done, but they see Jisung talking to one of the professors so they wait patiently outside the room until he’s done.

“I’m going to grab a drink from one of the vending machines, I’ll be right back.” Before Renjun walks off, he pokes Jaemin’s cheek. “Stop that.”

Jaemin pouts harder, “Stop what? I’m not doing anything?”

“You’re feeling bad that you drank the rest of my tea we ordered from that cafe, don’t be,” Renjun scolds and then walks off.

Jaemin watches as Renjun disappears down the hallway and turns a corner. Once he’s out of sight he sighs. He feels like he’s always dragging his friends into his messes. They tell him all the time that they don’t mind and it’s not his fault, but he still feels guilty when situations like what happened earlier pop up.

Just as he’s starting to pout again, debating going back to the cafe to get Renjun another one of those drinks, they’re his favorite after all, he feels a tap on his shoulder.

“Oh,” Jaemin turns around and comes face to face with someone he’s never seen before. “Yes?”

The man smiles at him. “Do you take classes in this building? I’m kind of lost?”

Jaemin relaxed when he realizes this man isn’t trying to flirt with him, he’s just lost. Their campus is pretty big too, so a lot of people tend to get lost. Jaemin included.

“I don’t, but maybe I can help you?” Jaemin offers. “Where are you trying to go?”

“I’m trying to find criminal psychology?” He says, leaning a little closer to Jaemin.

Jaemin bites his lip as he thinks, he believes Jisung took that class last year. “I think it’s in the next building?” Jaemin peeks into the classroom to see where Jisung went. “If we wait for my friend, he could—”

The man cuts him off. “Would you mind showing me? I get lost very easily.”

“Um,” Jaemin keeps looking for Jisung, where did he go? “My friend could show you, I might just get us both lost,” Jaemin laughs, a little awkwardly as the man stares at him.

“But I thought you said you could help? Show me the way please?”

Jaemin frowns at him. He’s so insistent that it’s starting to make Jaemin feel uncomfortable. “Actually—”

“If you go straight and then make a left, you’ll find it with no issue,” Jisung says, coming out of nowhere and being a barrier in between Jaemin and the man. “You ready to go?” Jisung asks as he turns around, but his eyes are really asking if Jaemin’s ok.

Jisung doesn’t wait for an answer, already guiding Jaemin to where Renjun is frowning at them from the end of the hall, two drinks in his hand.

“Wait, are you maybe free later today?”

Neither of them turn around at the voice. They meet up with Renjun who deposits the drinks into Jisung’s hands and pulls Jaemin against his side.

“You ok, Min?”

Jaemin nods, but there’s a frown on his face. “Yeah, just annoyed” Renjun rubs his back as they keep walking.

“How about we drop you off at your class?” Jisung asks as he opens the drinks and hands it to each boy, after taking a sip of Renjuns who in return playfully pretends to bite his hand.

Jaemin’s class is on the other side of the campus, usually they chat until Renjun and Jisung eventually split off from Jaemin and he walks the rest of the way by himself. He feels bad, this is exactly what he was talking about, his friends having to go the extra mile because of Jaemin’s popularity that still blows his mind. Donghyuck tells him all the time the reasons why he’s so popular, but it still doesn’t make sense to Jaemin.

So he feels bad, but usually when he’s with a friend, especially in a group, people don’t try to openly flirt with him or ask him out so he ends up nodding his head.

“That would be great,” he pouts at them, “Thank you.”

They manage to make it to Jaemin’s psychology class with zero attempts of being flirted with or asked out on a date, he did get plenty of stares though. Jisung and Renjun walk him to his classroom door and Jaemin walks in and finally sits down with a sigh and lets his bag fall out of his hand and onto the floor.

“You ok?”

Jaemin turns his head to send Mark a weak smile. “Three people attempted to ask me out again today.”

Mark cringes, “Yikes.”

“Yeah,” Jaemin chuckles, but it’s small and filled with exhaustion. Jaemin notices Mark still looking at him, tiny smile on his face. “What?”Jaemin questions with a grin.

Mark blushes and finally looks away, “Nothing.” Mark smiles again after a moment, leaning a little into Jaemin as he says, “You’re very likable, Jaem. I get why you’re so popular.”

Jaemin pouts, “I know I’m amazing, but this is starting to get ridiculous.” Mark pulls back to laugh and Jaemin takes the opportunity to rest his head on the older boys shoulder as he opens his textbook. “You want to go to the library after this? I need help studying for the exam.”

Mark shrugs, “Sure.” He throws his arm around Jaemin’s shoulder, squeezing him a little because it’s very obvious Jaemin is still a little down. “I was gonna hang with Jen after this, but I’ll just tell him to meet us there.”

Jaemin only hums, deciding to focus on the heat of Mark’s body beside his own instead of the professor walking in and starting the lecture, maybe this is why he needs the extra help in this class. He gets too distracted.

The rest of the class passes in a blur, and after awhile Jaemin feels Mark nudging him off his shoulder. Jaemin pouts because how dare Mark move him while he was that comfortable? Mark simply laughs, pinching his cheeks a little as he coos.

“Mark,” Jaemin scowls as he swats the hand away.

“Don’t Mark me,” he stands up and starts to pack his things. “Class ended 15 minutes ago, Jaem.”

Jaemin finally sits up straight and realizes that the classroom is mostly empty except for a few stragglers that wanted to talk to the teacher.

“Oh,” Jaemin starts gathering his things.

“Yeah, oh.” Mark grins, hands in his pocket as he waits for Jaemin to finish packing his stuff.

“Your shoulders too comfy, I blame this on you.” He finishes gathering his things and starts heading to the door, biting back a smile at the scoff Mark lets out.

“How is this my fault?” Mark says in disbelief as he follows Jaemin out of the class.

“Come on,” Jaemin laughs and grabs his arm so they can head to the library.

The walk there is peaceful, Jaemin manages to avoid being asked out again today and they even grab some drinks on the way there. Jaemin lets Mark order this time in case he gets another number written on his cup. Mark doesn’t question it as he orders Jaemin’s concerning coffee order.

“I think the barista was trying to catch your eye,” Mark muses as they walk away, drinks in their hand.

He was, Jaemin thinks, but Mark did a great job at blocking his view so he couldn’t openly stare at Jaemin.

They eventually make it to the library and are immediately waved down by their friends; it looks like Jeno invited Donghyuck and Chenle too. Mark hands Jeno the other drink in his hand, swatting away the other tows attempts to grab it, and Jaemin takes his seat. He catches Mark hesitating, torn on where to sit, but he keeps glancing at the place beside Jaemin, so Jaemin pulls it out and pats. “Sit here, easier to study together this way.”

Mark smiles and takes the seat. They start to unpack their stuff and get ready for their study session.

“What are you having problems with?” Mark asks as the other three continue their conversation before they showed up.

“Here,” Jaemin says, flipping through the pages and landing on a specific section.

Mark breaks it down so it’s easier for Jaemin to understand it. Jaemin even takes notes using his colorful pens and highlighters. Mark smiles at the little doodles Jaemin likes to draw, not because he’s not listening to Mark, it’s just a thing he does on all his pages.

“You’re cute,” Mark mutters out loud and then blushes when everyone at the table stops and gives him looks. “I meant the um notes,” he rushes out.

Jaemin smiles, his own cheeks growing a pretty shade of pink. “Thanks. Here,” Jaemin reaches for his notebook, “I can doodle some in yours too.”

“Really?” Mark says eyes wide. His arm goes to rest on the back of Jaemin’s chair as he leans closer to watch. “I like the pink glittery pen.”

“I’ll use that then!” Jaemin chuckles as he grabs that pen and begins to draw a small bunny.

They both get so absorbed in their doodles that they fail to notice the person approaching the table.

“Oh, I like that one,” Mark giggles along with Jaemin. “Can I try?”

“Sure!” Jaemin grins as he hands Mark the pen and then rests his head on the boys shoulder so he can watch Mark make his shaky lines.

“Oh.”

Jaemin finally lifts his head when he hears the unfamiliar voice. There’s a person standing over him, watching him with mixed emotions on his face.

Jaemin scrunches his eyebrows. He doesn’t recognize this person. “Do I know—”

“Am I interrupting something?” The stranger says, eyes staring at Mark’s arm that’s still slung over the back of Jaemin’s chair.

Jaemin frowns because he doesn’t even know this person and they’re interrupting him and asking questions.

Mark finally looks up to stare. “Uh, hi?” Mark says, confusion in his voice. He brings Jaemin’s body closer to his own and away from the unknown person.

The person doesn’t answer, only continues to frown at Mark. He eventually opens his mouth after a period of awkward silence, but Donghyuck is faster.

“Actually you are interrupting something,” he says, eyebrows raised as if asking why they’re still here. “Do you mind?”

The stranger backs off after that and turns around to leave.

They all stare at their retreating back in silence.

“Well, that was weird,” Chenle finally says, laying his head back in Donghyuck’s lap.

“Really weird,” Jeno mutters as he sips his drink and stands up. “I’m going to get more drinks, do you guys want anything?”

Various drinks get shouted at Jeno as he starts to leave. Jaemin’s about to shout his, but he catches Donghyuck’s eyes. The other boy gives him a pointed look that Jaemin doesn’t really get.

“We’re talking when we get home,” Donghyuck eventually says.

Jaemin gives him a strange look, “Ok?” Weird, he thinks, but he forgets about it as he goes back to staring at Mark’s lopsided bunny.

🐰

“I have an idea.”

Jaemin and Donghyuck just got back to their dorm room and those are the first words out of the other boys mouth.

“Is that why you were giving me weird looks earlier?” Jaemin asks as he shrugs off his jacket and shoes.

“Yes, I mean no. I was trying to communicate with you, but I guess you didn’t get it,” Donghyuck rolls his eyes.

Jaemin gives him a look. “You know I can’t read your mind, right?”

“Right,” Donghyuck says, shrugging it off. “Anyways, sit. I have a plan to discuss with you.” Jaemin lets Donghyuck pull him to the couch so they can sit down. Donghyuck crosses his legs and looks straight at Jaemin.

“You should tell everyone Mark is your boyfriend.”

Did Jaemin hear that right?

“Wait.” Jaemin blinks. “Why would I—?” Jaemin trails off, why would Hyuck suggest this? “But why would I do that? I’m not dating him.” Jaemin frowns, “Do people think I’m dating him?”

A wicked grin forms on Donghyuck’s face, “That's the thing, Jaem. People should think you’re dating him. Remember what happened at the library with that stranger?”

Jaemin frowns and nods. How could he forget? That interaction still confuses him.

Donghyuck can see his confusion and he shakes his head in disbelief. “They thought you were dating Mark, you dummy!” Donghyuck flicks Jaemin’s forehead.

Jaemin pouts as he rubs his forehead. “What? Why would they think that?”

Donghyuck stares at him in shock. “What do you mean why? You guys were practically all over each other!”

Jaemin blushes a fierce red on his cheeks. “What!? No we weren’t.”

Donghyuck scoffs, “Mark basically pulled you into his lap when that random came over, you totally looked like a couple.”

“Whatever,” Jaemin says as he stands up. “We’re not dating.”

“But you should be,” Donghyuck says as Jaemin walks away. “At least pretend to be! You saw the way that person backed off when he realized you two might be a thing.”

Jaemin hesitates on his way to his bed. He thinks for a moment and then turns around to meet Donghyuck’s eyes. Donghyuck grins, a cocky one because he knows he has Jaemin right where he wants him.

He’s right and Jaemin seems to know it.

“So you want me to ask Mark if we can date—”

“Fake date,” Donghyuck adds.

“Right,” Jaemin says slowly. “You want me to ask him to fake date me so people think we’re dating and stop trying to ask me out? That’s the plan?”

Donghyuck nods. “Yep, perfect right?”

Jaemin frowns.

“No.”

He turns around and lays on his bed, pulling out his phone to show he’s done with the conversation, but Donghyuck isn’t backing down that easily.

“Why not,” Donghyuck whines, annoyed and sad that Jaemin shot down his plan so quickly. “You said it yourself! It bothers you that so many people keep asking you out! And some of them are so strange Jaem,” Donghyuck pouts at him. “I’m sure Mark would be happy to help. Want me to ask him for you?”

Jaemin shakes his head. “I appreciate that you’re looking out for me, but it would be unfair to put Mark in that position.” Jaemin frowns, “What if he’s dating someone?”

“He’s not,” Donghyuck is quick to say. “Jaem, I promise he would want to help.”

Jaemin thinks. Sure, it’s annoying constantly being bothered by people. Some of them are strange, some of them take rejection badly, but that doesn’t mean Jaemin needs to get a fake boyfriend. That would mean Mark was stuck with him, not able to date or meet other people, and that doesn’t sit right with Jaemin.

“It’s fine.” Jaemin’s answer is final, and Donghyuck keeps his mouth shut as he watches Jaemin lay down. “That would be unfair to Mark, so I’m not doing it. End of story.”

And that was that, Donghyuck dropped it even though Jaemin could tell he wanted to say more, but Jaemin had his mind made up. He can deal with this on his own.

🐰

The next day he decided to go out with his hoodie and mask on, too tired from not getting enough sleep last night. He’s in no mood to entertain people so he puts his hood up and leaves the dorm. No Renjun or Donghyuck to walk to class with today, so he orders his coffee by himself and luckily goes unnoticed. The rest of the walk to his class goes the same, very few people recognize him and the ones that do are just some nice acquaintances he’s had classes with in the past.

He gets to his class feeling a lot better, he’s not sure if it’s the coffee or the fact he got here unbothered, but either way he’s glad as he pulls his hood down and takes his seat. He’s in the middle of taking off his mask when he hears his name called.

“Hey, Jaemin!”

Jaemin looks up, fake smile plastered on his face. “Hey.” He doesn’t say any more than that, hoping that it gets across that he’s in no mood to chat, but the person takes the seat beside him, Mark’s seat.

“That’s actually—”

“Are you free this weekend?” The person cuts Jaemin off, Jaemin tries to hold back a sigh. It’s going to be one of those conversations. “There’s a party happening and thought you could be my date.”

Jaemin doesn’t even have to lie this time. His plans this weekend was to study for his exams, he had no plans to go to any parties. “Actually, I’m busy this weekend, got to study for exams.”

“Really?” The person laughs, “Can’t you just study another time? This party is a once in a lifetime opportunity, man.”

Jaemin doubts that, parties happen all the time here. So much that he wonders if people ever get any studying done. Plus he’s most certainly not going as his date. “Sorry, exams are more important to me,” Jaemin shrugs.

The stranger frowns and opens his mouth, probably ready to argue, but a voice stops him.

“Hey, dude? You’re kind of in my seat, haha.”

They both look up to see Mark, awkwardly shuffling his feet as he looks at their classmate. Jaemin takes a sigh of relief that doesn’t go unnoticed by Mark. He hates when he has to explain himself, can’t people just take no for an answer? He barely knows this guy too, he’s just someone Jaemin sees sometimes in class but most of the time he’s not even paying attention.

Their classmate doesn’t back down. He frowns and leans back in the seat. “Can’t you sit somewhere else?”

Mark makes a face. “What?”

He smirks, “There’s plenty of seats here, just go take another one. I’m trying to talk to Jaemin right now.” He then leans forward and starts to whisper, thinking Jaemin can’t hear, but Jaemin can and he feels his face go red at the words that come out of his mouth.

“You’re kind of cock-blocking me right now dude, do me a favor this once? I’ll owe you one.”

It’s silent after that. Jaemin clenches his fist and glares at the back of their head while Mark blinks at him, unsure of what he just heard. Jaemin’s ready to let loose, he doesn’t care if he gets kicked out of the classroom, he thinks seeing the face of this man as Jaemin cusses him out will be worth it, but before he can, Mark’s face hardens.

Boyfriend?

The man grows a bit flustered as he quickly stands up and utters an apology and walks away, this allows Mark to finally take his seat beside Jaemin, and when he does, he looks at Jaemin with slight panic on his face.

Mark’s cheeks are bright red as he says, “Shit, should I have not said that? Hyuck texted me this morning and said you needed a fake boyfriend—”

“Hyuck?” Jaemin says out loud. “He talked to you?” He silently curses, of course Donghyuck would go behind his back and talk to Mark when he clearly said he was fine. He’ll have a word with him later. “Mark, I’m sorry!” Jaemin pouts at the older boy as guilt starts to settle in.

Mark looks at him confused. “What, why are you sorry? I should be the one apologizing, Donghyuck said you were fine with it, but based on your reaction,” Mark chuckles nervously, “I’m guessing I was lied to.”

Jaemin makes a face, “We both were. And no no, you’re fine! I’m sorry you had to pretend to be my boyfriend,” Jaemin cringes. “I told Donghyuck that it would be unfair to ask you! I don’t know why he didn’t listen to me.” He knows why, because Donghyuck listens to nobody.

Mark suddenly smiles, his cute boyish smile that makes Jaemin smile back. “Oh, I’m ok with it.” He blushes again, his ears going red as well. He adjusts the cap on his head as he peeks at Jaemin from under his fringe, “If you need a fake boyfriend, I can do it if you want?”

Jaemin blushes, “Really? You’re ok with that?”

Mark nods, grin back on his face. “Yeah, why not? I can see these people asking you out are pretty annoying, and honestly me and Hyuck aren’t too happy with it either. Especially when they keep pushing it.” Mark shrugs, “Maybe if we get word around that we’re dating, people will back off, you know?”

Jaemin still isn’t completely convinced. “You’re not dating anyone? Or do you have a crush on someone?”

“What?” Mark squeaks out. “I mean, no! I’m not dating anyone,” his cheeks heat up, “And I guess I have a crush on someone?”

Jaemin is quick to say, “Then we shouldn’t—”

“But,” Mark cuts him off, a small smile on his face as he looks at Jaemin. “Let me finish,” he playfully scolds Jaemin who sticks his tongue out in response to it. “I’m still ok with this and if you are too, I would love to fake date you.”

Jaemin starts to giggle, which confuses Mark. “Why are you laughing,” Mark pouts.

“It’s how you said it,” Jaemin grins. “I would love to fake date you. It’s a silly idea.”

Mark nods, “Yeah, it kind of is.”

Jaemin observers Mark for a moment. Would it really hurt to say yes?

"How about, I think about it,” Jaemin says, smiling at the way Mark perks up. “And today can be like a trial run? We’ll see how it goes.”

Mark nods with that cute smile, “I would love that.”

“Ok good,” Jaemin chirps and scoots his chair even closer to Mark’s, just as the teacher comes in. “Might as well make it convincing for our trial run.” He grabs Mark’s hand and places it on his own thigh. Mark watches the action, face heating up as his hand lands on Jaemin’s thigh. Jaemin then leans over and rests his head on Mark’s shoulder, like he usually does, but this time feels a bit different. “We’ll hold hands when we leave too, are you ok with that?”

Mark nods, “Uh, yeah—” his voice cracks a little, making both of them start to giggle. “Hold hands? I can do that, yeah. Sounds good to me,” Mark rambles.

“Good,” Jaemin smiles, “Now pay attention to the teacher.”

“I should be the one telling you that,” Mark scolds playfully.

They manage to get through the rest of the class, mostly giggling to themselves as they do “couple things.” Jaemin does that thing where when he laughs he leans into Mark’s neck. Mark makes kissy faces at him which fails and instead of looking romantic they just look ridiculous since Jaemin can’t keep a straight face when it happens. It ends up with both of them bursting into laughter only to be scolded by the teacher. Maybe it does have the intended effect because people in the classroom are starting to give them curious glances.

“I think it’s working,” Mark leans in and whispers into Jaemin’s ear.

Mark’s proven right when just as the class ends, a few students walk up to them to ask them if they’re dating. Jaemin and Mark exchange glances and then Mark throws his arm over Jaemin’s shoulder and Jaemin is cuddling into his sides.

“We have a date,” Jaemin says instead of confirming or denying it. He’s still not 100% sure about this plan, but the idea is slowly warming up to him.

Mark’s eyes go wide for a split second before he’s agreeing. “Yeah! This weekend actually.”

Jaemin pinches Mark’s side, stifling a laugh as Mark yelps. “A study date. I have exams to study for.”

“Oh, yeah right,” Mark chuckles, cheeks on fire.

They eventually make it out of the classroom and Jaemin looks at Mark with his eyebrows raised. “We have a date now?”

Mark groans as he runs a hand down his face. “I wasn’t thinking! It just came out.” He glances shyly at Jaemin, “But I could help you study if you want to make it official.”

Jaemin grins, “Make the fake date official?”

Mark grins, “Yeah, why not?”

Jaemin thinks. He really could use Mark’s help. “Ok you got a deal, but only if you escort me around campus today and then walk me home,” Jaemin sends Mark a pout to help convince him, but he really didn’t need to since Mark is already nodding.

“Sure,” he smiles and then grabs Jaemin’s hand to interlace their fingers. “I can do that.”

They get stopped a lot on the way, a lot more than Jaemin expected. Instead of Jaemin receiving phone numbers or invites to parties or dates, it's now, are you two dating? It works perfectly, having Mark by his side is not only helpful, but also fun too. Eventually Mark picks him up from his last class of the day and walks him all the way to his dorm.

“Thanks,” Jaemin smiles, hands still held in Mark’s despite his dorm room being right there.

“No problem,” Mark grins back, “Can’t wait for our fake study date this weekend.”

Before they’re able to release their hands, Jaemin’s door to his room opens to reveal a smug looking Donghyuck.

“Ha! See, I told you it would work,” he says, eyes locked on their hands.

Both Jaemin and Mark blush as they finally drop them.

“You,” Jaemin glares. He makes a grab for Donghyuck, but the older boy dodges.

“I don’t know why you’re mad,” Donghyuck laughs as he dodges Jaemin once again. “The whole campus is talking about you two walking around holding hands. I bet not a single person has asked you out yet?” Donghyuck raises an eyebrow as he looks at Jaemin.

Jaemin sighs and looks away.

“I knew it!” Donghyuck does a fist pump in the air. “I’m fucking amazing, no need to thank me because I know already.” Donghyuck drags them both in the room and then takes a seat in his desk chair. “So spill, did you tell everyone you two are dating.”

“Actually,” Jaemin says as he takes a seat on his bed. He pats the spot next to him when he notices Mark hasn’t moved so the older boy takes it. “All I said was we have a date this weekend, I didn’t tell anyone we were official.”

Donghyuck stops his spinning to look at him. “Why not?”

“Because I’m still not sure if I want to do this!”

“Newsflash Jaem!” Donghyuck takes out his phone and rolls his chair over so he can shove it in Jaemin’s face. “The whole school basically thinks you’re dating anyway.”

Jaemin frowns as he scrolls through his university's online forum with Mark peering at it over his shoulder.

“Whoa,” Mark says. “News really spreads fast, huh?”

Donghyuck scoffs. “The two most popular people start dating on campus and you’re surprised that everyone’s talking about it.”

Mark just shrugs.

Jaemin doesn’t pay them any attention as he scrolls through the posts. Most of them ask one single question.

Are Mark and Jaemin dating?

“I can’t believe this,” Jaemin mutters. There goes his plans of thinking about it. If the school already thinks this, it looks like he’ll have to go along with it.

Donghyuck seems to read his mind. “There’s no way you can undo this, unless you want to fake break up with Mark, but then that puts you in the same position as before.”

Jaemin sighs as he leans against Mark, “Looks like it.”

Mark gives him a sympathetic smile and grabs his hand so he can squeeze it. He doesn’t let go.

“Ok,” Jaemin eventually says after a moment of thinking. He sits up and looks at the two. “We’ll do this, but we need to lay out some ground rules first.”

“Of course,” Mark says. “What were you thinking.”

“Ok first, if either of us want this to end, then it does.” Both Mark and Donghyuck nod so Jaemin continues. “And what about boundaries? How far should we go to prove we’re like a thing?” Jaemin says, pointing in-between him and Mark.

Mark smiles, “As far as you want to go, I’m cool with anything.”

“I think you two should make out in public,” Donghyuck says bluntly.

Both Jaemin and Mark gape at him.

“What?” Jaemin hisses, “Isn’t that a little too far?”

Donghyuck shrugs, “It’ll be the most convincing way to show you both are dating.” Jaemin and Mark continue to give him looks so Donghyuck sighs, “Ok fine, that’ll come later—”

“What?” Mark squeaks.

“How about you post a picture of each other on your Instagram story. Pretty simple. Here, give me your phone.” Mark reluctantly hands Donghyuck his phone. “Ok, act like you’re in love or something,” Donghyuck says as he clicks on the camera and aims.

Mark and Jaemin look at each other. “I guess I’ll,” Jaemin mutters, scooting a little closer to Mark until their knees touch. “Is this good?”

Donghyuck lowers the camera. “Really? Now that I tell you to be all sick and in love is when you’re both awkward with each other?” He doesn’t get a response so he stands up from his chair with a sigh. “I have to do everything myself, ok here.”

He positions the two. Jaemin is basically sitting in Mark’s lap by the end of it, his head in the crook of Mark’s neck with a big smile like Mark just said something funny while Mark kisses the top of his head. He’s pretty sure his and Mark’s cheeks are on fire by the end of it, but Donghyuck deems it perfect. He poses them a few more times, each as cute and in love as the last, until he finally tosses Mark back his phone.

“There, now both of you post it and watch as everything falls into place,” Donghyuck says smugly as he goes back to spin in his computer chair.

Jaemin has Mark send him a few of the photos and then they both go on their social media accounts to post them.

“You sure about this?” Mark asks one last time, thumb hovering over the post button.

Jaemin smiles, “If you are, yeah.”

Mark nods, “Alright, I guess we’re dating now.”

They both hit post.

The effect of their post is almost instant. Jaemin’s phone gets blown up with messages, some from people he knows and some from people he vaguely recognizes, all asking if he’s really dating Mark. Mark has already left to walk back to his own dorm, but he texts Jaemin to let him know the same is on his end.

“Well Hyuck, the whole school sure as hell knows now,” Jaemin says as he scrolls through his messages. He started answering them, but soon gave up.

“Told you,” Donghyuck says from his bed. “How are you feeling now?”

Jaemin shrugs, “I don’t know. I’m happy that people won’t be bugging me now, but,” his voice trails off. “Do you think this is really the best idea? Isn’t this unfair to Mark?”

“Hey.” Donghyucks soft voice makes Jaemin turn to look at him. “Mark’s ok with this, you heard him yourself. And if you’re ever having any doubts, you can talk to him. You know he wouldn’t want you keeping this to yourself, especially if you’re rethinking this whole thing.”

Jaemin nods, “Ok.”

🐰

The week goes by fast, Mark picks him up from his dorm and sometimes they'll have breakfast or just grab drinks. Mark will walk Jaemin to his classes, holding hands the whole time. People have slowly stopped approaching them, which is a relief for Jaemin. He was tired of constantly telling people that yes he is taken and that Mark is his boyfriend.

The biggest proof that it’s working is whenever Jaemin is alone, usually not for long, but sometimes he has a break before Mark’s class will end. During that time, people mostly leave him alone. There are a few people who still try to approach him and flirt, so he mentions this to his friends.

“Maybe you guys should go on another date that’s not just studying?” Renjun says, head in Jisung’s lap as the younger boy plays with his hair.

“That’s perfect!” Donghyuck jumps in before either Jaemin or Mark can respond. Mark and Jaemin glance at each other as Donghyuck starts his rant. “Since you guys won’t listen to me and make out out in front of your whole class—”

“Hyuck,” Mark warns.

"Yeah, yeah I know. Anyways, you both should totally go on a date and like hold hands and shit and post it all over social media.”

Mark turns to Jaemin. “I’m ok with that? What about you?”

Jaemin hums. He hasn’t been on a date in awhile, not since his last boyfriend. “I think I’m ok with that.”

Mark brightens up, big round eyes sparkling as he smiles at Jaemin. “Where do you want to go?”

“I’m picking the date spot?” Jaemin teases, “You’re making me do everything, huh Mark?”

Mark blushes, “What? No! I just want to pick somewhere you would like,” he mutters shyly. Jaemin stares at him with a smile on his face, watching the way Mark’s ears turn red and he avoids eye contact. Teasing Mark is fun if he gets these reactions every time.

“Just make sure it’s close to campus because you want people around you to see,” Donghyuck adds.

Jaemin’s eyes light up. “What about that cat cafe by the coffee shop we always go to?”

“We can go there if you want,” Mark smiles.

Jaemin nods, now excited. “I’ve been wanting to go there for the longest time but Donghyuck keeps canceling the plans I always make with him.”

“Hey,” Donghyuck starts, offended, “I have valid reasons for canceling on you.”

“Canceling because you stayed up all night playing Overwatch with your boyfriend is not a valid excuse.”

“It is valid! I’m sleepy and you always want to go so early, god.”

“Wanting to go in the afternoon is not early.”

“Ok,” Mark laughs, “I won’t cancel on you.”

Jaemin turns to him to grab his arm and pout. “Promise?”

Mark smiles, “Of course.”

“Can you guys stop flirting while we’re in your room, nobody can see you,” Jisung says.

“Agreed,” Donghyuck raises his hand.

Renjun ignores the two to add, “Make sure you go on a busy day, that way people will see you and spread the word.”

So they do that. They decide to go on a Saturday since there will be more people around to see them on their (fake) date. Mark picks Jaemin up from their dorm and they walk all the way there, walking will mean more people see you, were Donghyuck’s exact words. And they hold hands of course. Jaemin has gotten so used to Mark’s hand in his that whenever they do part, Jaemin feels a little weird, like there should be something large and warm wrapped around his hand. And whenever they meet, his hand gravitates towards Mark without him realizing it until he looks down and sees their hands clasped and swinging in the air.

“Have you ever been to a cat cafe?” Jaemin asks as they enter the building and wait for the employees to let them in.

“Huh?” Mark asks as he takes off his glasses and rubs his eyes a little. “What was that?”

The door opens and Jaemin tugs them inside, already lighting up at all the kitties he spots. “Have you ever been to one of these before?” Jaemin drags Mark to a corner of the room where there’s already a bunch of cats crowded around it.

“Oh,” Mark blinks as he takes a seat, a cat immediately rubbing against his leg. Mark lowers his hand so the cat can rub its head against it. “Never been to one before,” Mark says, sniffing a little.

They order their drinks and food and Jaemin lets himself melt into the booth they’re in. A cat jumps onto his lap and another slumps down by his legs.

He feels like he’s in heaven.

And then he hears a sneeze.

He looks to see Mark hesitantly petting a cat that jumped onto his shoulders, but the thing that he really pays attention to are his red eyes that he’s still rubbing from under his glasses.

“Mark?”

Another sneeze. “Yeah?”

Jaemin narrows his eyes. “Are you—” a sneeze cuts him off. “Are you allergic to cats?”

Mark’s eyes widened, “What no!” Another sneeze. “I think it’s just like really dusty here, haha.”

Jaemin tries to stifle his laugh. “How about you give Mr. Mittens a kiss on his forehead then?”

Mark looks at Mr. Mittens who has decided that Mark’s lap is the comfiest place to take his afternoon cat nap.

“Um,” Mark lifts Mr. Mittens and stares into his eyes.

Mr. Mittens meows. Mark sneezes.

“Sorry, I have to,” Another sneeze as he gently places the cat on his seat, “Use the restroom.”

Jaemin watches Mark rush off to the bathroom, little sneezes coming out. Jaemin laughs fondly and gets their food packed up into boxes and then waits by the bathroom exit. When Mark finally appears, it’s with a sheepish smile on his face as soon as he sees Jaemin.

“Sorry,” Mark says.

Jaemin simply smiles and grabs his hand, “Let’s go eat somewhere else.”

Mark gives him a relieved smile as he squeezes Jaemin’s hand. “Thanks.”

“If you’re allergic, why did you say yes?”

They went across the street to a park and found a nice bench in the shade to eat under. Jaemin thinks this is even better, there’s students all around them, some Jaemin even recognizes, and everyone’s pretending not to openly stare at the two.

“Because you wanted to go,” Mark states it like a fact. Jaemin wanted to go, so of course Mark would go. Jaemin feels his heart pick up at that thought, Mark went because of Jaemin and only because of him.

“So, let me get this straight,” Jaemin giggles as he leans into Mark. “I wanted to go so you decided it would be a good idea to go despite being allergic to cats?”

Mark takes a sip of his drink, big innocent eyes staring into Jaemin’s. “Yes.”

Jaemin giggles again, “You are SUCH an idiot, Mark Lee.” He feels his body leaning even more towards Mark, until his breath is hitting the older boy's neck as he continues to giggle.

Mark shivers a little, Jaemin smirks.

“Well, yeah?” Mark says, offended. “Why am I the idiot here, I just wanted to take you on an amazing first date,” Mark pouts.

Jaemin pulls back, their faces are still close. “Isn’t this supposed to be a fake date?”

Mark blushes, eyes widening like he forgot. “Oh, um yeah,” he chuckles. “Right, an amazing fake date.”

Jaemin grins at him and goes to pinch his red cheeks. “And this was the best fake date I’ve ever had.”

Mark’s round eyes light up, “Really?”

“This is the only fake date I’ve been on, Mark,” Jaemin giggles. “So yes, not really much competition.”

Mark deflates, “Oh.”

“I’m teasing you,” Jaemin says and without thinking, kisses his red cheek. “Fake date or not, I loved it.”

🐰

They continue this over the next few weeks, they go on dates, they pick each other up at class and according to Renjun they look so in love it’s starting to gross him out, so it’s working, but not enough. There’s a few people that seem to become even more insistent on asking Jaemin out, more so now that he has a boyfriend. Even though the whole campus knows he’s taken he thinks it’s because they think they have a chance now that Jaemin has decided to date again, but Jaemin doesn’t get it. He doesn’t think he ever will.

He finally makes it to where Mark and Donghyuck are chatting quietly in the library. As soon as Mark sees Jaemin’s face, he pulls his chair out and allows Jaemin to sit in his lap and melt into his arms.

“What’s wrong?” Mark mutters into his hair.

“I’ll tell you what’s wrong,” Donghyuck scowls as he spots one of the men that kept bothering Jaemin, standing at a distance but still watching him. “You know what, I’ll make sure he can never look at you again,” Donghyuck grumbles as he stands up and starts to head in the mans direction, but despite having Jaemin in his arms, Mark is still able to catch Donghyuck’s hand.

“Sit,” Mark commands and Donghyuck goes back to his seat like a defeated dog.

“Say one word and I’ll attack.”

Jaemin’s honestly starting to think about it.

“No you won’t,” Mark shoots down the idea. “Call down, we’ll figure something else out,” Mark says as he runs a soothing hand down Jaemin’s back. Jaemin thinks he could fall asleep like this.

“Well clearly you guys need to be more obvious." Donghyuck looks at the way Jaemin is sitting in Mark’s lap, “Well, even more obvious I guess.”

Jaemin turns around in Mark’s arms to stare at his friend. “How do you think we should do that?”

“Make—”

“No,” Mark cuts him off as Jaemin starts to giggle into Mark’s shoulder. “Why is your plan always to make out?”

“Because it’s my best plan!” Donghyuck scoffs. “But fine, if you guys won’t do that then come with me to this party tonight and start like grinding on each other on the dance floor.”

Jaemin jumps forward, “That’s perfect!”

“It is?” Donghyuck says at the same time Mark squeaks out, “Huh?”

“Not the grinding part,” Jaemin rolls his eyes, “I mean the party! Everyone’s going to be there. If me and Mark go there as a couple, people will have to accept the fact we’re dating.” Jaemin turns back to Mark who is already looking at him, “You ok with that?”

Mark smiles, “Sure, if you want to.” Jaemin pinches his arm, getting a yelp and a pout out of Mark. “What was that for?”

“Don’t ‘ if you want to,’ me, Mark! Don’t do something just because I want to,” Jaemin pouts right back.

Mark pouts back harder, “But I’d do anything you want to do, as long as you’re happy, I’m happy.”

“But,” Jaemin pouts more.

“Jaemin,” Mark pouts.

“Mark,” Jaemin pouts back.

“Oh my god, you guys act like you’re actually dating. Renjun was so right,” Donghyuck frowns as he stands up. “I’m not listening to this any longer, I’ll text you the details and save all this for the actual party, k?”

Jaemin decides that, yes they are going, after Mark says he wants to go and not just because Jaemin wants to. Jaemin raids Donghyuck’s closest, and then goes next door to Chenle’s to steal his fancy jewelry. He’ll return it, eventually. If he’s going to this party then he might as well go all out.

When Mark comes to pick Jaemin up, well, Jaemin knew Mark was hot, but wow. Jaemin thinks he stares a little too long at the way Mark’s tight jeans cling to his legs and the way the first couple buttons of his long sleeved shirt are unbuttoned, showing just a glimpse of his chest. Luckily, Mark is too busy openly checking Jaemin out to notice Jaemin doing the same.

Once they do notice, they both look away with blushes on their cheeks. Jaemin thinks this crop top Donghyuck forced him in was actually a good idea.

They make it to the party and it’s clear right away to him that Mark is not new when it comes to these things. The way he dressed, the way he seems to know everybody there, the way his arm wraps around Jaemin’s waist as he easily guides them through the crowd.

“How many of these parties have you been to?” Jaemin raises an eyebrow and accepts the non alcoholic drink Mark hands him.

Mark shrugs, but the smirk that appears on his face does something to Jaemin. “A few,” he winks and then steals Jaemin’s drink back to take his own sip.

Jaemin slaps his arm with a giggle, “Why didn’t you grab your own.”

Mark just giggles along with him and they make their way deeper into the party.

They spend the whole night practically glued to the hip, at one point they even forget the whole reason they’re here in the first place. They just enjoy the party, they dance, at one point Jaemin’s pretty sure Mark leaves a few kisses on his neck. They’re not drunk, they’re very sober since Mark drove them here and Jaemin still needs to study tomorrow, so they can’t use the excuse of alcohol for the way they look at each other, or the light touches that mean so much more.

They drag each other to the side so they can take a break, they ignore all the other voices around them and just look and smile at each other. After a while Mark leans into his space, hand grabbing his waist as he whispers, “One more dance?”

Jaemin’s response is to drag them to the dance floor again. What they’re doing isn’t really dancing, Jaemin is just pressing his body against Mark, leaving no space. He just wants to be as close to Mark as possible, and Mark must feel the same way as he grips Jaemin tighter and brings him closer as well. Jaemin smiles as he’s surrounded by Mark. Mark’s body, Mark’s scent, he clings to it.

“What are you smiling about?” Mark mutters in his ear, a smile also forming on his face as he looks at Jaemin.

“Mm? Nothing,” Jaemin giggles. He looks into Mark’s soft round eyes, smiles some more and leans closer. “I have an idea.”

“Oh?”

“Well, it’s not my idea. But I think we should try it.”

Mark raises an eyebrow, “Yeah? What’s this idea of yours?”

“Donghyuck’s idea,” Jaemin corrects.

Mark’s eyes darken when he hears that. “It’s his idea?”

“Mhm.”

“Would you really be ok with that?”

Jaemin smiles again, “Yes. Are you going to kiss me now or—”

He’s interrupted by Mark’s lips crashing into his. Jaemin immediately accepts it, opening his mouth slightly and letting Mark explore it. The air is buzzing around them, it feels like they’ve been waiting for this moment for the longest time. He’s not sure why they haven’t done this before and Jaemin is hit with the realization that Donghyuck was right, they should have been making out from the start. He’s thought he’d had his fill of Mark already, but this just makes him crave more and more.

Mark suddenly jerks back and Jaemin is confused. He was just kissing Mark and he wasn’t done yet. He grabs Mark’s Jaw, stops him from moving so he can lean forward and kiss him again. Mark allows it for a second before pulling back.

“Princess,” Mark gasps, “Wait.”

Mark grabs onto Jaemin, stops him from continuing the kiss, and turns around. That’s when Jaemin sees Mark’s shirt is drenched in some alcoholic drink. He cringes, what happened? He’s pretty sure Mark is talking to someone, but his mission is to get something to help Mark clean his shirt. He turns around and goes to the kitchen to find something, paper towels maybe? When he’s unsuccessful he goes back to Mark, fully intending to drag him to the nearest bathroom so they can clean him up, or maybe back to his dorm so they can do that and continue kissing. More kissing sounds good.

When he finds Mark again, he’s confused though.

There’s now a girl hanging off his shoulder, hand playing with the first few buttons on his shirt that are undone, slightly running her small fingers over his exposed chest. She’s smiling at him, fluttering her eyelashes with her flirty smile. There’s an empty cup in her hands which explains why Mark’s shirt is drenched, but Jaemin has a feeling that it wasn’t an accident.

Jaemin feels his face flush as he watches them. Mark has his hands in the air, not touching her and looking around slightly panicked. He’s blushing though and that’s when Jaemin has his first thought that actually makes him take a few steps away from Mark.

If Jaemin wasn’t in the picture, Mark could freely flirt with her. He would be able to flirt back, maybe dance with her, he’s clearly a popular person at parties. He’s probably flirted with tons of people at these things, but now he can’t because of Jaemin.

This is exactly why he didn’t want to do this. He didn’t want to feel like he was holding Mark back, Mark for the love of god even told Jaemin he had a crush on someone else. And here Jaemin is, making out with Mark  in the middle of a party because he likes him.

Jaemin likes Mark.

Another thought that enters Jaemin’s head, makes him freeze, makes him turn around and head to the door. The cold hair hits his face hard as he walks out, cools his burning face but does nothing to help his heart which is currently beating rapidly in his chest.

He likes Mark Lee.

🐰

He gives Mark a short text saying he left and that they should stop this, that Mark can enjoy the party without him there. He goes to his dorm, swings open the door (startling a Donghyuck and Chenle that were currently making out) and slumps on his bed, face first.

“Jesus,” Chenle yells, way too loudly for how late it is.

“Jaemin, what the hell?” Donghyuck says, face flushed as he clutches his chest. “I thought you were supposed to be at the party with Mar—”

“Don’t say his name,” Jaemin groans.

Donghyuck squints his eyes at him, “What? Why? Where is he even?” Donghyuck gets up to look out the door only to find no Mark.

Jaemin feels his phone start to vibrate so he silences it and throws it somewhere on the bed behind him.

Donghyuck watches that.

“Jaemin, where’s Mark?”

Chenle takes this as his cue to leave, muttering good luck as he kisses Donghyuck and then shuts the door.

“At the party still,” Jaemin mutters into his pillow.

“Jesus, Jaemin talk to me without speaking into your pillow, I can’t hear a damn thing.” Donghyuck marches over and removes the pillow from under Jaemin’s face.

Jaemin rolls over onto his back. “I said he’s at the party.”

Donghyuck gives him a look that Jaemin ignores. “And you’re here because?”

“Because I kissed him.”

Donghyuck blinks, takes a seat, then stands up again. He rubs the bridge of his nose.

“So you kissed Mark at the party and then left him?”

Jaemin pouts, “He has a crush on someone.”

“Yeah on you, dumbass. I thought that was quite obvious.”

“No, no,” Jaemin whines, looking like a defeated cat as he lays on the bed, arms and legs spread out like a starfish. “On someone else, not me.”

“Right,” Donghyuck says, not convinced. “Anything else I should know about?” Donghyuck takes a seat and crosses his leg.

“Mark can’t flirt with other people when he’s with me,” Jaemin groans out.

“I don’t think he would want to.”

“I’m holding him back!”

“You really aren’t.”

Jaemin turns to Donghyuck, eyes big and watery and pout even bigger. “So I ended it with him.”

“Oh my god, I’m going to need a drink,” Donghyuck sighs as he gets up and grabs a drink he had stashed away.

Jaemin stares at him, “You’re not supposed to have drinks in here?”

Donghyuck stares him down. “If I’m going to hear you moping about Mark all night when that boy clearly likes you then I’m going to need this.”

🐰

Now begins what Donghyuck likes to call the moping stage of Mark’s and Jaemin’s (not) relationship.

Jaemin mopes all day in his dorm, whining about how he misses Mark. How he misses holding hands with Mark, how he misses Mark’s smile and cute brown eyes. How he misses kissing Mark.

Donghyuck now wears headphones when he’s in his dorm.

Mark isn’t any better, in fact he’s worse. He seeks Donghyuck out to ask how Jaemin is doing because  apparently Jaemin won’t text him back. He asks if Jaemin is doing ok and if he misses Mark and if he’ll ever talk to him again.

Donghyuck now goes out of his way to avoid Mark.

This goes on for weeks, and Donghyuck is tired. He’s tired of Jaemin, he’s tired of Mark and he’s tired of this game they’re playing. On another day, he would find it funny, but not when he goes out and has one boy whining in his ear only to come home and deal with another whining boy. So he does the next best thing.

There’s a knock at the door. Jaemin eyes Donghyuck suspiciously as the older boy gets up to open it.

“Who’s that?”

“Mark,” Donghyuck says, not even trying to lie.

“What?!” Jaemin shouts as he gets up and runs to the door to keep it shut, “Don’t you dare—”

Donghyuck was faster and Jaemin found himself face to face with Mark.

Their eyes widen as they stare at each other, cheeks heating up the longer they stare. Donghyuck stands there and watches them and after nothing is said, Donghyuck decides he will be the one to fix their relationship.

“Mark has a crush on you,” Donhyuck shoves Jaemin a little closer to Mark. Mark’s eyes dart from Donghyuck to Jaemin, surprised that he’s being called out, but softens when Jaemin gasps. “Nobody else, just you.”

“Really?”

Mark nods instantly. “Y-Yeah, Jaem,” Mark takes a step forward. “I’ve liked you since the first day I saw you,” Mark mutters.

Jaemin takes a step forward, “You have?”

Another step. “Yeah,” Mark breathes out.

Donghyuck takes this as his cue to leave, squeezing past the two love birds and leaving them to whatever it is they’re doing.

Jaemin and Mark haven’t taken their eyes off each other once, not even when Donghyuck was leaving.

Jaemin hesitates, just another step away from Mark. He starts to take the step and freezes, but Mark is there to grab his hand and pull him the rest of the way. Jaemin falls into his arms easily, it’s like he was made to be in Mark’s arms.

Mark wraps his arms around Jaemin and buries his head into his neck while Jaemin squeezes him tight.

“I missed you,” Mark mutters into his neck.

“I missed you too,” Jaemin pouts.

They finally pull back and look into each other’s eyes. Mark raises one hand to cup his cheek but keeps the other firmly planted on Jaemin’s waist.

“Go out with me,” Mark says. Jaemin’s eyes widened, but before he could say anything else, Mark continued. “For real now, an actual date. I don’t want to fake date you anymore Jaem, I want to be your real boyfriend.”

Jaemin’s face heats up.

Real boyfriend.

“But—” Jaemins silenced when Mark leans the rest of the way and brushes his lips against Jaemin’s.

“Please say yes,” Mark whispers, “I only want you Jaemin, nobody else.”

Jaemin’s brain repeats that over and over again in his head. Mark want’s Jaemin, only Jaemin. He starts to smile as he leans the rest of the way.

“Yes.”
