Work Text:

Danny stands there. Staring down at the turned up dirt. The headstone above the loose dirt, taunting him of what once was. He never realized how regretful his life once was. Never fulfilling his lifelong dream of being amongst the stars. Though once he died, or half-died, he could have flown into outer space. Living his dream right then and there. But the idea alone felt wrong. Felt intrusive. Like he wasn't meant to, or even allowed to go into space anymore. That freaks like him weren't meant to be in space, in the beautiful infinite amongst the stars.

Even after Danny became a halfa, death never felt lonely. Felt suffocated. He always had Sam and Tucker who helped him. Supported him. After Jazz found out she did the same. Vlad never helped him, but he never did try to kill him. To destroy and fade him. But his parents only wished to do just that. They hated him once they found out the truth. Immediately began shooting and screaming anything they could think of towards him. Yelling about how they will destroy the ghost possessing and faking being their son. Not listening to how the ghost was their son. Their own flesh and blood.

Jazz was away to college. Sam was with her parents traveling to some rich people gala. Tucker was visiting family out of state. Valerie didn’t care much for Danny, though she doesn’t want to hurt him. Vlad hates him. Dani was traveling. No one was there he could go to. He was alone. Being shot at in the sky by his parents. By the people who raised and cared for him since he was born. Though they didn’t do much raising. Jazz did more to raise him than anyone. Making sure he ate. Waking him up for school. Helping him with wounds after ghost fights. Maddie and Jack never did any of that. Never cared for any of that.

They never cared…for anything he did.

Rain started falling down on the makeshift grave. Slow sprinkling. Slowly getting heavier. Rain clouds flooding the sky. The halfa lets out a small breath. His hair flowing in the cold wind. Part of him wishes he could have made a better connection with his parents as a ghost. That he could have been a better son for them. That his life could have been more important than their science.

But he was never more important than that. His life was less than that. And they proved that over and over and over again.Torturing him. Taking him apart over and over again. No one was there that cared for him. No one could have saved him. After a while he gave up the hope of escaping. The hope that his parents will see him as their son, not a science experiment to be torn apart again and again. Some that they should care for. To protect and love.Hoping that they would turn around and see him as Danny Fenton, not Danny Phantom. Some ghost kid.

His mind black out what could have been months of torture. When he finally came to, he could faintly hear Jazz and his friends yelling at something. Probably his parents. Saying something about him. The words didn’t fit in his head. Sounding like nothing but gibberish. He saw Jazz try to grab him. Hold him close, but what she did her hands passed through him, landing on something else. Her eyes widening with sadness and shock. Tears falling from her eyes. Sam and Tucker restraining his parents. Danny felt his body fall back onto the ground, but his ghost stood to watch what was happening. Sam and Tucker turned to see Jazz clutching something in her hands. Both of them yelling Danny’s name and running towards his sister. Dropping to the ground and shaking the thing in her arms. Danny stood above them watching.

Confusion spreads through him. He doesn’t understand why they call for him, but ignores him. Jazz’s face covered his tears. Sam is crying and trying to wake the body. Tucker knelt to the ground unmoving.Tears streaming down his face. Sam and Jazz scream his name. He walks around Jazz and sees the face of who they hold and cries over. Him. His body. His human and living body. Dead. Eyes sunken, the body pale and thin. Cuts, bruises, and incisions all along the visible parts of his body. Danny feels his eyes go wide with tears collecting in his eyes.

He was dead. Truly and fully dead. He was a ghost. A complete ghost. His body felt weak and tired. His parents killed him. Destroyed him completely. Suddenly the cries and screaming of his name stop abruptly. He feels a hand on his shoulder. Danny turns to see Clockwork staring down at the three on the floor. Before Danny could say anything the ghost of time waves a hand and all goes dark.

When he wakes back up he is greeted with Clockwork string down at him and giving a faint smile. He stayed in the ClockTower with ClockWork while his new body healed. His core healed. After a while he left again. Danny wanted to see his sister. His friends. But he was advised against it. Told that it wasn't yet time to see them again. That there was only one thing that he was meant to see in the living world. The thing the people he cared about gave him.

A grave. One they visited often. With frequent flowers and things Danny liked.

He stared down at it. The rain falling through him. His new outfit slowly moving like a slow wind. Tears falling down his face at the sight. Wishing he could see his friends and sister once more. He couldn’t see them again till their own deaths. Thunder booms in the distance. It was time for him to leave again.

Have a delightful day everyone.
