Work Text:
I got off the boat and walked down the docks of Númenor. I was almost immediately stopped by the Queen's guard.
"Who are you and what is your business here?" The man in front asked me.
"Has it really been that long since my last visit to Númenor?" I asked the man standing in front of me.
His face which was once serious and stoic had softened and flooded with what almost looked like relief.
"(Y/n), what a nice surprise. What brings you to Númenor?" Elendil asked.
"I've been told a friend of mine was brought here not too long ago. Her name is Galadriel." I say.
"The elf." He said with a nod.
"She is much more than just an elf." I say to Elendil.
"I fully believe that but she is not as welcomed in Númenor as she had hoped and her attitude is is making her situation any better." Elendil explained to me.
"Can I talk to your queen about this?" I asked.
"You most certainly Can but I doubt you will change her mind about anything." Elendil told me.
"Well, if I can try that all I need to know." I said with a smile.
"Follow me then." Elendil said before turning around and beginning to walk.
The guards that were alongside Elendil surrounded me as I was led to wherever the queen was. As we walked, those in the streets began to crowd around us to see who I was. Once they began to realize, I began to hear gasps and murmurs from the crowd.
While they talked among themselves, one person caught my eye as we passed by. A man standing by himself not talking with anyone. He almost seemed out of place.
He was taller than most of the crowd, his brown hair stopped just above his shoulders and he seemed like he had just finished a fight. Not once while I walked by did his gaze on me falter. His intense gaze made me think he was almost trying to read my mind trying to figure out where I was heading.
Elendil led me to a large room where it seemed as if a council was arguing over what would happen to an unnamed elf. Who I assumed to be Galadriel.
Elendil stepped in front of me and cleared his throat loudly, surprisingly grabbing the attention of everyone in the room.
"Your majesty, we have a visitor." Elendil said before stepping aside so the Queen could see me.
Once she registered who I was, her face conveyed a mixture of shock and happiness.
"(Y/n), what brings you to Númenor?" Míriel asked.
"I heard that my friend was brought here, I ask that I am able to bring her back home." I explain.
"I assume you are speaking of the elf?" Míriel asked.
"Yes, Galadriel is a good friend of mine and I know how you feel about elves. I simply want to take her home." I further explained.
"While we do have a disdain for elves, we also believe in justice. Galadriel has disrespected some laws of Númenor and she is serving the time for them." Míriel told me.
Of course, she did.
I looked at Míriel with a smile. "May I talk with her?" I asked.
"Yes, a guardsman can take you up to her." Míriel said gesturing behind me.
I looked back to find a random guardsman as opposed to Elendil. I guess he had left during our conversation for something important and I had not noticed. I then looked back to Míriel.
"Thank you." I said with a grateful smile.
She simply nodded her head and returned a smile. I turned back around and looked at the guardsmen who simply just stared at me. He almost seemed to be in a daze.
"Well, after you." I said snapping him out of the odd daze he was in. He nodded his head and began leading me to where they kept their prisoners.
"If I May ask, what did Galadriel do?" I asked the guardsman. He let out a huff mixed with a laugh.
"She disrespected the queen." He said simply.
Good to know she hasn't changed since I last saw her.
He led me to a set of stairs and then turned to me. "Just take these stairs and it'll lead you right to where she is. I'm going to stay at the bottom of the stairs, so don't pull anything." He said in a serious tone.
"I wouldn't dream of it." I said jokingly. He didn't even crack a smile. I nodded my head and quickly made my way down the stairs. Once I got down the stairs, I noticed that Galadriel and the man I saw earlier were the only ones being held
"(Y/n)!" Galadriel said with a mixture of relief and happiness. "Have you come to get me out of here?" Galadriel asked me.
"You really pissed the queen off." I said to her.
"All of what I told her is truthful. They cannot just disregard all the elves did for them. And middle earth, it's in danger." Galadriel explained to me.
"Who's this?" The man in the cell next to Galadriel asked.
"A good friend of mine." Galadriel quickly said.
"What do you mean in danger?" I asked.
"Sauron, he still lives. I believe he is still working from the shadows to carry out his plans. I need to stop him." Galadriel said.
"I brought a ship with me, I can bring it back that way once they believe you have served your time." I said.
"We must go now." She expressed urgency.
"Galadriel, you need to think this through. We have nothing. No army, no knowledge of where Sauron is or what he is planning." I said to her.
"I Can convince the queen to bring armies. I'm sure of it." Galadriel said.
"Just like how you convinced her to throw you in a cell." I said making the man in the cell next to her chuckle.
"Ok, who is he?" I asked Galadriel.
"His name is Halbrand, he helped me when I was stranded at sea." Galadriel said.
"When you decided to jump off the ship you were previously on so you could continue your fight?" I asked her.
"Elrond told you." She said.
"Elrond told me of the ceremony but I knew you wouldn't leave this world without a fight." I said causing Galadriel to give me a weak smile.
"May I know who she is?" Halbrand asked Galadriel causing her smile to be replaced with a small grin.
"Halbrand this is (Y/n) also know as the Phoenix." Galadriel said.
"The Phoenix? I thought that was all legend?" Halbrand asked shocked.
As we stood there Elendil came up behind me. He looked at me with a smile and then looked to Galadriel.
"The Queen says that you may leave the cell but must leave Númenor by morning." Elendil said as he opened her cell door.
"Well, that gives me more than enough time." Galadriel said as she walked out of her cell.
I looked who Halbrand, who looked to me as Elendil began to exit the dungeon. I let out an annoyed sigh.
"Elendil." I said causing Halbrand to smile.
"If I were to keep an eye on your prisoner over here, may he be released from his cell as well?" I asked. Elendil gave me a small smile knowing how irritating this was would be for me.
"I don't see why not." He said as he opened up Halbrand's cell.
"I am to keep an eye on Galadriel and you can keep yours on him." Elendil said with a hint of excitement.
Elendil and Galadriel left the room, leaving Halbrand and I. He looked down at me, he was only a few inches taller but still had to look down to meet my gaze.
"Why did you do that?" He asked me amused.
"Well, Galadriel is a dear friend of mine. I thought this would be thank you enough for saving her." I said to him.
"Well then." He said with a sigh.
"Follow me." He said as he began walking.
"What? Where are you going?" I asked confused. He stopped before ascending the stairs.
"It's nighttime, are you not tired from your travels?" Halbrand asked me faking confusion. While I could go without sleep for a few days, I was in fact beginning to push my limit. I did need sleep.
"You just got here, how do you have a place to stay?" I asked with a laugh.
"While I May have made enemies, I also made some friends." He said with a dumb smile plastered on his face. I rolled my eyes.
"Lead the way I guess." I said with another sigh. I could not argue. I needed the rest, for if I did not sleep soon I would not be able to use my powers until I got sleep.
"How did you know that Galadriel had made it to Númenor?" Halbrand asked me.
"I have many friends that live within Númenor. When they told me that an elf had appeared here, I simply assumed that it had to be Galadriel." I explained to him.
"So you traveled all this way to bring her back to Middle Earth?" Halbrand ask.
"Halbrand, I don't think you understand how truly dire the situation is in Middle Earth. I don't believe Galadriel does either. A number of cities have begun to get attacked since the eleves have left their posts. It's becoming dangerous, even for eleves." I said with obvious worry in my voice.
As we walked, Halbrand didn't say another word as he slipped his hand into mine. I flinched as he did so.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"You were shaking." He said looking down into my eyes. He held the gaze. His stare was intense.
"But it doesn't seem like I'm helping all that much." He said with a smirk.
"I'm tired." I told him.
"I Can tell, how long have you been awake for?" He asked me, his smirk disappearing being replaced by what looked like a bit of concern.
"A week." I said as I rested my head on his shoulder.
"How is that possible?" He asked me.
I yawn before answering. "My body works differently than yours. I Can stay up for a few days without sleep without it affecting me. But if I stay up for longer than a week it can start to be harmful." I said.
Within a few seconds, Halbrand had swept me off my feet and began to carry me. I looked up to him. "What are you—." I started to say.
"Shhh, I'll get you there. Just focus on sleeping." He said in a whisper. That I did. I fell asleep almost immediately.
The next morning I awoke in bed with Halbrand to my side. I sat up in the bed and looked around at my surroundings. It was simply a house, it was decorated and furnished like any other house in Númenor. How Halbrand got his hands on this place, I had no clue.
"Did you get enough sleep?" Halbrand asked, his voice hoarse.
"Yes, I hope you didn't get up to anything while I slept." I said as I got up and began looking around.
"I just killed the entire town, nothing too much." Halbrand said getting a giggle from me. I heard him get up as I continued to look around the house. He came up behind me and stopped me by placing his hands on my hips.
"You're not going to find the bodies, I threw them into the ocean." He whispered into my ear. I turned around causing him to pull his hands away from my hips.
"How did you get this place?" I asked him.
"I asked the right people." He said.
"I need to go find Galadriel." I said as I gathered my things. From the corner of my eye, he seemed confused.
"I thought you were meant to watch me." He said as I quickly moved around the house. I stopped and looked at him.
"I told you, I did that to repay you for saving Galadriel. I didn't actually plan on staying with you. You can handle yourself I assume." I said before returning to gathering my things.
"I'll come with you." Halbrand said as I got my last item.
"Why?" I asked, now being the one who was confused.
"What if she's with Elendil? He will ask you why I'm not with you." Halbrand explained to me.
"Whatever." I simply said causing Halbrand to smile. As I exited the house, Halbrand stayed close behind me.
"How are you going to find her?" Halbrand asked as we stood looking into the crowds of people in front of us. The streets of Númenor were filled with people going places, there was no way to find Galadriel by simply walking around in hopes of finding her.
"My magic, obviously." I said without even looking at Halbrand. I heard a low chuckle come from him as I closed my eyes. I took a deep breath as the world around me became silent. The chatter coming from the crowds moving through the streets was gone and I opened my eyes to see the streets empty. I looked over to my side and Halbrand was no longer there.
"Galadriel." I whispered. I watched as my surroundings changed, I was now in an area where people practiced fighting each other with swords. I watched the corner as Elendil and Galadriel walked into the area. I smiled and then snapped myself out of the vision.
I opened my eyes and looked to Halbrand who was standing in front of me. He seemed slightly worried.
"What was that?" He asked me.
"I told you, I was using my magic to find her. And I did." I told him. I grabbed his hand and began to lead him to where Galadriel would be. When we arrived, we were early she had yet to arrive.
"I thought you said she would be here." Halbrand said as he searched the area for Galadriel. I grabbed his chin with my hand and directed his attention to the corner as Galadriel entered the area, just had she did in my vision.
"That's terrifying." He said as he looked down at me after I pulled my hand away from his chin. I looked over to him and smiled.
" I could have sworn the legends had said I could see the future." I said as we looked at each other.
He held back a laugh and just shook his head. We watched as Galadriel taught a group of soldiers and fought with them. As she fought, I felt Halbrand grab my hand and he began to lead me away from the crowd that had formed to watch Galadriel.
"Where are you taking me? I came here to talk to Galadriel." I said as he took me down an empty alleyway.
"She can wait." Halbrand said as he pushed me against the wall. His hands found themselves around my waist. I cupped his face with my hands as his lips met mine His lips trailed down to the base of my neck as I quietly gasped for air. As his hand went to slip my dress off, I stopped him. He looked up at me, his eyes wild, he was barely an inch from my face.
"Maybe not here." I said to him.
"Take us back to the house." He whispered breathlessly. I smiled as I obeyed his command. We were back in the house he brought me to the night prior. He pushed me onto the bed and tore off my dress. His hands worked their way up and down my body as we made out.
He stood up and undressed himself then returned to exploring my body. We did not stop until we tired, and that took hours.
