Chapter 1: ONE

Chapter Text

Luffy was infatuated, which was just a nicer way of saying he was obsessed. It was a new feeling for him - he liked meat, dreamed of becoming King of the Pirates, but he wasn’t obsessed with anything. There were a lot of things he loved, too, like his crewmates and his brothers, and he loved The Sunny and once upon a time The Going Merry. Now he wasn’t saying he was in love, that was a misunderstood situation that involved complicated feelings he didn’t quite get just yet, but god he did love the way he felt around you.

“Y/N …”

There was an expectation that it would go hand in hand, the emotions and also the things that you made him feel, but that was where it was wrong. Luffy was unashamed in obviously liking you a little more than most, the banging of his heart just happened out of nowhere and drew you to him like he was a fish on a hook, but he wasn’t in love.

What he was in was trouble, and you saw that.

“Yes?”

“Please?”

“Please” was sort of a foreign word for Luffy as he was the kind of man who took what he wanted. He wasn’t patient, and he was also impulsive which was a dangerous combo when stirred in a bubbling pot. He was loud, a little obnoxious, and his knack for being sneaky while also not being sneaky was impressive. Bold, brave, and for the sake of the “b” alliteration he was also brazen. Luffy was an interesting creature who traveled the seas, and one day you had joined them.

“I can’t -”

“Yes, you can.”

You were the kind of person Luffy had never met before, someone who embodied traits of some of The Straw Hat Pirates. You were feisty like Nami, and smart like Robin and Jinbe as the city you came from was heavy with rich lore you had studied hard. Sometimes Sanji made you a little romantic, and you were sometimes as lazy as Zoro was but in the same way as him you were also tough. Luffy? Luffy also thought sometimes you were a little mean, and it turned out that he kind of liked that.

“This isn’t fair!”

All Luffy heard was you chuckle.

You had the power to captivate him, charm him in ways that other people and things couldn’t. Luffy felt like he was under your spell and it wouldn’t let him go no matter how hard he tried to get out of it. Although, if he really looked at it, he didn’t mind all that much because in the end he found pure, unadulterated fun. You allowed that, showed him that he could feel things he didn’t think about wonderfully and intensely. Luffy was a man of indulgence after all, how could he not drown in such a good, addicting feeling?

“You’re so mean …”

The worst part was that you loved it.

You’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy Luffy’s suffering just a little bit. The cute look on his face, the pink flush, and every so often his fingers would twitch as if he wanted to reach out for you. Luffy was stewing in impatience, and yet he stayed right where he was against the wall of the bathroom, waiting but obedient. That always surprised you, a man so crazy and shameless listening to you without so much as a defiant peep while you figured that was all you were going to get.

“Now why is that, Luffy?”

“Because I want to touch you!”

Luffy learned a valuable lesson from you, and while he hated being patient he knew that the payoff would be one of the best things he would ever experience. You had taught him that he could feel good, that you could make him feel good, and if he got that then sure, he’d wait a minute.

This was longer than a minute, and that patience he learned was fading fast.

You? You were having the time of your life, or at least it seemed that way. He wasn’t wrong, you were being soooooo mean! Here he was suffering, and there you were - naked. Very naked, and very wet, and Luffy very much wanted to be under the shower with you. Instead he was stuck against the wall, sitting on the floor, and watching you with such an intense look in his eye that he might as well have been burning holes into you. The pirate had never studied anything so hard as he was you in that very moment, his attention usually was drawn away easily, yet here he was sitting back and totally enchanted by you.

“Isn’t it going to be better if you wait?” you teased, glancing over your shoulder before a loofah passed over it and left behind suds.

“No!” Luffy responded immediately, frowning deep now.

You laughed, then you continued cleaning yourself without so much as another word.

The problem with showing Luffy great things was that he liked to indulge; when he found something he liked he wanted it right then and there!

All. The. Time.

Now the issue was that you were a tease, like a really bad one. It started innocently enough, breaking away from addicting kisses for a few seconds and pulling your head away when he followed. Sometimes, when you touched him, it’d be slow and not enough, and Luffy would pout and mutter something about you being rude. You had given him the gift of pleasure a few (many) times before, and now that you knew his body you learned to do things that kept him on the edge.

You figured Luffy didn’t think like that, not until the night you made a move.

“Y/N!”

You jumped, startled by the voice behind you and you whipped around fast. A fear struck through you at sudden company, but you visibly relaxed when you saw him. You sighed, hand over your heart, but soon you were frowning and dropping your arm to your side.

“Luffy! You can’t do that when I’m supposed to be on watch!”

“Why not?” Luffy asked, walking towards you.

“Because I’m watching out for enemies! If you’re gonna surprise me then I’m going to react. You’re lucky I don’t have a gun or something.

“I’m made of rubber!” Luffy laughed, stretching his arm out to the side and letting it snap back. “Bullets don’t work on me!”

“That’s not the point,” you said, rolling your eyes and crossing your arms before turning away. You heard some shuffling, Luffy’s flip flops on the floor, and then his head appeared in front of yours when he stretched his neck.

“Are you mad at me?”

“Yes,” you quipped, turning your head to the side and sticking your nose up in the air.

“I didn’t do anything!” Luffy countered, clearly falling for your playfulness.

You could only keep the charade up for so long, and when you practically heard Luffy’s pout you broke and giggled. You glanced over, turning your head back around to face the pirate, and you grinned.

“Kidding!” you chirped, your body following so that you were standing in front of Luffy fully.

“That’s mean!” Luffy whined, brows furrowed deep.

“Nooooo, mean would be me kissing you and leaving.”

“Why would you want to do that?” Luffy questioned curiously, blinking.

“I don’t know, you just have a kissable mouth,” you shrugged, your statement sounding as if it were obvious.

You weren’t wrong, in your opinion your captain had the kind of pure look on his face that you wanted to wipe off with the most dirty of things. You couldn’t help it! Could you be blamed? Despite his obliviousness Luffy still had something about him that was just so damn attractive. He wasn’t charming, he didn’t know how to sweet talk, but in your eyes he was exactly what you wanted.

… and that body? Geez.

You were a little perverted, so what?

Maybe it was the innocence, maybe it was the way Luffy lived his life so unabashedly and openly that drew you in. It had only been a few months since you joined the crew and he had already enchanted you, but you never had the perfect moment to make that clear until now. Now, right now, you had the perfect opportunity with Luffy so close and staring down at you. He was unaware, so ignorant to those feelings because you were sure he never experienced them.

You? You had no problem showing him that, especially because it would satisfy your own curiosity. Would Luffy like it? Would he want to kiss you back? You dared to try it, gently placed a hand on Luffy’s cheek, and you were able to reach him when you stood on your toes. You leaned in, your other hand on his chest to balance yourself, and slowly did you press your lips to Luffy’s. It was brief, you weren’t interested in devouring him just yet, instead you wanted to test the waters so you kept it simple. However, Luffy must’ve liked it for hands came up to your waist and he leaned in a little himself.

Success.

You allowed Luffy a taste for a few seconds, pushed into the kiss even more with a pleased hum, and then? Well, like you had said, you pulled away and took your leave. Luffy didn’t say a word behind you, and when you caught a glimpse of him when you looked back he was touching his lips and actually speechless for once. It made you smirk, made your chest swell as your heart beat like crazy within it, and it made your exit all that more dramatic.

… until you remembered the crow’s nest was your place for the night as the person on watch.

You didn’t even get the chance to sigh in defeat and turn again before strong arms wound around your waist, and you released a gasp when you were hauled back. Suddenly you slammed against Luffy’s chest, the air knocked out of you a bit, and you were staring up at him with wide eyes.

“Again,” was all he said.

After that it was your turn to think hard. Luffy had simply accepted it and you had to wonder if he had thought about it, too. His brain wasn’t wired for it and yet he allowed it to happen, and that excited you even more. It was meant to be playful and also not, and you had thought you’d have to work harder than you did but fortunately it came so easily.

You thanked whatever god was around.

Funnily enough, Luffy kind of did, too. It was nice, the way he felt when you had kissed him - too nice. He was thankful that you had done it because he had no idea that was something you thought about, and that was because it was never, ever on his radar. Suddenly you were and it was, however, something new and exciting. Luffy liked that, and he liked it a lot, and something else has blossomed deep within.

Luffy was starving.
