Work Text:

She looked up at the stars, down at the map, then back up again.

“We’re lost,” she mentions to the captain offhandedly. As if she were pointing out the weather, just another topic brought up in a conversation over afternoon tea. “What do you mean we’re lost?” He questions sarcastically. The captain snatches the map from her hands, receiving a raised eyebrow from the shorter.

“Exactly as I said, we’re lost,” She answers while he scans the map like it had the answers to the universe. He looked up at the stars, down at the map, then back up again. He slowly turns to look at the brunet, leaning nonchalantly against the side of the ship. “No no, I heard you. Just wanted to make sure that my Navigator”, she glares as he puts emphasis on her title, “knew who she was talking to.”

“Well maybe if our Captain,” She puts the same sarcastic tone on his title as he did hers, “hadn’t lost my other map, maybe I could tell you where we were.” He glares back at her, getting just as frustrated. She smiles sweetly at him as his face goes more red with the accusation. “Well maybe I shouldn’t trust a woman to do a man's job, shouldn’t have even allowed you on the ship to begin with,” his tone soft but irked. Her smile fades into a scow, “Whatever.”

She grabs the map from his hands and walks off frustrated. It seems to always be like this between her and her brother. A minor mishap and all of a sudden it's her fault. Oh well. He’ll come to his senses eventually. Of course he will, he can’t navigate for shit and she had the map. Good luck navigating now little brother. If she was a betting woman, which she is, she’d bet that an apology would be on the way by morning.

And she was right.
