Chapter Text
The friends sat together in the cafe, just talking about life when the doors opened and a woman walked in. Her blonde hair was done pretty and a big wedding dress hugged her body.
“Oh my god! Rachel?” Monica was the first to talk and get the blonde’s attention. Rachel squealed and hugged Monica tight. Joey watched her with his curious brown eyes and smiled at the quite loud exchange.
“Guys this is Rachel Green, my best friend from high school! This is Joey, Chandler, Phoebe, and you remember my brother Ross.”
Ross looked at her with a dreamy stare. His high school crush back in front of his eyes. He couldn’t believe that one of his dreams was coming true.
“Oh right! I remember you!” Rachel grinned and hugged Ross. He got a quick sniff of her hair and sighed happily.
“Yeah. Good to see you again.” He played it off cool.
“Well Rachel you got married and didn’t invite me to the wedding?” Monica laughed it off and Rachel dramatically flopped on the couch, her dress almost drowning Chandler next to her.
“Monica I am so sorry! We just lost touch after college and I didn’t know if you were still in New York.”
Monica just waved her off. “Well, do you have anywhere to stay? I would love a roommate! Joey and Chandler are just across the hall.”
Joey gave Rachel his best smile and looked her up and down. “And if you need anything, even someone to cuddle in the night while you cry, I am definitely your man.”
Rachel giggled at the charming man.
“Joey, don't hit on her. She’s still in the wedding dress!” Phoebe exclaimed.
Joey just took a sip of his coffee. “It’s okay Phoebs.”
And with that Monica took Rachel up to her apartment to show her around. The place was spotless and colorful.
“Just know there’s a spot for everything and I will know if something’s been touched. Make yourself at home. You can borrow some of my clothes for now too.”
Rachel gave her a thankful smile and went into her new room. She sat on the bed and just thought for a moment. Thought about how she left Barry at the altar and how maybe she should’ve tried better and invited Monica. She did so much for her in high school and even college.
While putting away some old clothes Monica lent her, the phone started to ring.
“Rachel, can you get that!?” Monica yelled from her room, too busy folding clean laundry.
Rachel quickly walked over and sat on the couch while answering the phone. “Hello?”
The voice was weird, sounded deep and not human in a way. “Hello Rachel.”
“Barry, this isn’t funny. If you want your ring back, I can probably send it in the mail.”
“Poor Rachel. Getting married and having daddy’s money but that’s not good enough huh? You’re so pathetic.”
Rachel tried not to cry but the day was getting to her. She swallowed hard, tears threatening to spill. “Whoever this is, it's not funny. Don’t call here again!”
“Poor little Rachel. You don’t get your way so you cry about it. Boohoo. Something amazing was in front of your face and you couldn’t see it. You’re such a waste of space.” The voice said.
Monica came out and saw tears falling down Rachel’s cheeks. Monica picked up the phone. “Listen jerk! Leave us alone or else!” Monica slammed the phone down and sat next to Rachel, rubbing her shoulders.
“I’m sorry honey. Let’s get to bed.”
Rachel nodded and went to her room. Monica sat on the couch as she went into the room. Monica smiles to herself. At least now Rachel needs her and Monica will help her best friend get back on her feet.
