Chapter Text
It was a hot summer night at the Addams’ estate, the house was filled with a boisterous crowd. The usual quite mansion filled to the brim with people, music, and bright lights. The whole tribe had arrived for Wednesday’s engagement party, excited that their most anti-social family member to find true love. The raven hardly ever wanting to celebrate a thing, she had even skipped out on her own graduation party, so of course the family jumped at the chance to celebrate.
Wednesday moved through the crowd, balancing wine glasses in each hands, careful not to spill anything. She looks around for Enid, but the blonde is no where in sight. She sighs, no doubt, the werewolf and the vampire we’re going around the party showing off the ring Wednesday had gotten the wolf.
The wolf was particularly fond of that hunk of rock. It was a gold ring with a large pink diamond at it’s center, surrounded by a halo of smaller white diamonds. The thing cost a fortune, but it was ethically sourced of course! An heirloom taken from her dear great aunt Twila’s cold-dead clutches. Her aunt was also engaged to a werewolf during her life, it was only right Wednesday inherited the ring.
It took Wednesday and Puglsey a better part of an afternoon in the family cemetery to unbury the woman but it was all worth it to see Enid’s delighted face. The wolf didn’t even flinch when the goth had told her where she got it from. She had only grinned widely and kissed her fiancé as thanks for all her hard work, and adoringly wipe the dirt smudged on the raven’s cheek. But the wolf had secretly snuck into the bathroom in the middle of the night to sanitize the thing just to be sure.
Wednesday’s hand we’re beginning to get cold from holding the glasses for so long. She huffed and continued to look around the party for her missing fiancé when she felt a sharp tap on her shoulder and electric jolt coursing through her. She turned to see it was her Uncle Fester smiling at her with his dopey grin.
“Wednesday! Congrats on the engagement, kid! I was positively electrified with the news! Glad that Enid will officially become apart of the family.” Uncle Fester cheered, his excitement so electrifying it made Wednesday’s hair stand on end. She bowed her head, “ Thank you Uncle. Yes, I’m glad we’ll be scrapping off the name Sinclair and adding Addams instead.” She said to her uncle as her eyes darted around the room. Where did that wolf run off too?
“ Speaking of Enid. Where is she? I have yet to see her.” Uncle Fester questioned as he took a mysterious looking drink from a waiter passing by with a tray. The black drink bubbled and smoke poured over the top of the rim.
Wednesday surveyed the crowed once more before looking back to her Uncle, “ I was hoping you had seen her Uncle. I seemed to have lost her to the plethora of people haunting my home. The freeloaders.” Wednesday explained with a frown, she takes a sip of her wine letting the alcohol burn her throat.
Her uncle laughed at the goth’s antics, his niece was never a fan of socializing not even with her own family. He was going to suggest they look for her together when he felt a tug on his pants leg. He looks down to see Thing waving at him before climbing up his body to rest on the man’s shoulder.
Wednesday glares at the appendage, “ Thing! Where have you been? We needed your help setting up hours ago.” She reprimanded the hand, Thing simply shrugged as best as a sentient hand could. Wednesday continued, “Its just like you to hide to get out of work but coming slithering out when the party starts. I should ground you up in the meat grinder and serve finger sandwiches. ” She chastised the hand. A shiver ran down Thing, he tried his best to look apologetic for his behavior, hiding behind the other man’s shoulder. Fester patting him in sympathy, he knows how scary it can be to spark the ravenette’s anger.
“ C’mon Wednesday give him another chance! He’s a handy guy!” Fester joked. Thing pinched the back of his neck, causing Fester to squeal in pain.
Wednesday shook her head at their antics and sighed, “ If you wish to redeem yourself then tell me, have you seen Enid?” She asked the hand. Thing tapped out a yes against Fester’s shoulder and pointed up the upper balcony.
Wednesday looked to the balcony and there her intended was, haloed in the chandelier light, looking like an absolute angel. She was talking animatedly to Yoko and Wednesday’s aunt Margaret, the three of them laughing about something. The goth gazed at her and admired the blonde’s form, forgetting herself.
Enid’s bright blonde hair contrasting with her long black dress. It was rare for the wolf to wear such dark clothing, she saved it for very special occasions. She knew it made the goth exceptionally happy to see her in her signature colors. As Wednesday continued to appreciate the blonde’s form, the blonde seemed to sense her and turned toward the raven’s direction.
The blonde practically beamed at the goth and waved her up, Wednesday felt her lips automatically pull upwards. Fester snorted at his niece's love struck face, Wednesday snapped her head back in his direction with a sneer. The love she held for her wolf was no laughing matter, she went to swing at her Uncle but the drinks in her hands stopped her. Fester only laughed at her more, he was saved by Enid unintentionally.
“ Oh don’t give me that look kid. It’s nice seeing you so happy.” Fester said sweetly. Wednesday still glares at him but with slightly less aggression, this family was becoming entirely too sentimental for her taste. Bowing her head once more to her uncle who ruffled her hair in turn. The static from his hands making few strands of her hair stand up. Wednesday gives a kick to her uncle’s shins, he winces in pain. Wednesday smirks and takes her leave, racing to the stairs to get to her beloved.
As she arrived to the top of the stairs, she heard the trio’s conversation.
“ Oh Enid, I’m so delighted you’ll be joining the family officially. I swear at one point I thought Gomez was going to make a dowry to offer up to you.” Aunt Margret joked with the young werewolf, Enid and Yoko laughed with the older woman.
“ Yeah Nid. I thought you’d have a few grey hairs before Wednesday finally got the courage to propose.” Yoko jested elbowing Enid good naturally as the trio laughed. Wednesday silently walked up to them and cleared her throat, causing Yoko to jump with fright.
“ Jesus! Wednesday where the hell did you come from. I swear you’re like a ghost!” Yoko complained as she clutched her chest where her undead heart rested, she swore she felt it beat. The goth looked pleased at the vampire’s distress and handed her beloved her drink. Enid giggled and thanked her fiancé with a kiss. Margret looked at the couple with fondness.
“ Oh I remember what it was like being engaged to Itt. Such a magical time.” Aunt Margret said wistfully with a smile. She then spots Itt in the corner of her eye, “ Speaking of, I better go find him. Congratulations once again you two.” Margret says and makes her way to her husband. The group watches her go and they wave at Cousin Itt, who gives a little shake back.
“ Such a lovely woman. Wens have you seen little Whatt! He’s gotten so big.” Enid said enthusiastically as she sipped her wine. Wednesday hummed in agreement and rested her head on the taller woman’s shoulder. She closed her eyes and breathed in the wolf’s scent to calm herself down.Yoko laughed at the socially exhausted goth before deciding to excuse herself to go find Divina.
“ C’mon Wednesday only a couple more hours of social interaction and you’re home free.” Enid told the goth as she rested her cheek on the top of her head. Wednesday nodded solemnly, she loved her family but could only handle social situations for so long. She wished they could have just eloped but she knows how important this was to the wolf.
Enid rested a hand on the goth’s lower back, Wednesday relaxed into her touch. She looked into Enid’s sparkling blue eyes, the blonde smiled warmly at her and mouthed a silent thank you towards her. This strengthened the goth’s resolve, Wednesday decided she needed to do this, it was only for one night after all. And besides this was the first step, so Enid could finally be apart of a healthy family and starting her own pack.
She could so the blonde’s desire for her as she gazed upon the goth’s lips.Enid goes to kiss her, and the goth’s eyes flutter closed, she can feel her warm breath on her lips when a ring rudely interrupts them.
Enid sighs and pulls away reaching into her purse for her phone.Wednesday clears her throat and tries to hide her burning blush behind her wine glass. Enid digs through her purse trying desperately to find her phone, the raven sips her wine patiently and looks over the baloney’s edge.
She saw Pugsley and Eugene chasing Pubert around the house, Yoko and Divina talking to Bianca and Kent about something, and her parents talking with Weems. Wednesday lips twitched slightly upwards , she was glad that her mother and the shapeshifter made up. Her thoughts were interrupted when she over heard Enid’s phone conversation.
“ No! No way! You’re here! You really made it? I thought you’d be out of town. Oh how exciting! I’ll go tell Lurch to let you in.” Enid gushed into the phone. She hangs up the phone and tosses it into her purse and turns to Wednesday.
“ It’s Eydith, Wednesday! She’s here! We should go greet her.” Enid said tugging her fiancé's sleeves and dragging her towards the stairs.
“ Wha- What? Enid, Who is Eydith?” Wednesday inquired breathlessly, practically running trying to keep up with Enid’s fast pace. She never heard of this person in her life. Enid slowed down to stop and looked at her with a scrunch brow.
“Huh?What do you mean Wens?. She’s my-“ Enid began to say. When the goth felt the room begin to spin, she looked around and everything quickly began to fade away. Her heart raced in a panic, Wednesday tried to grab for Enid but she passed through her finger tips. She fell toward the ground and heard Enid call out for her when she hit the floor with a bang. Everything turned dark.
Wednesday awoke with a gasp and found herself sat her desk staring at her typewriter, instead of the crystal blue pools of her fiancé. She looked about the room she was sadly not at her engagement party, the reality was she was still in highschool and Enid was not hers. She must’ve fallen asleep during her writing hour once again. She rubbed at her face trying to rub the sleep from her eyes and to gather her thoughts.
It unnerved her, it was the same dream over and over again, she had been having the same exact dream for weeks now. Or perhaps it wasn’t a dream at all, maybe it was a vision. Her dreams were more blurry and unclear and her visions tended to be clearer but she just couldn’t tell. And even if it was a vision, what was it trying to tell her.
Wednesday began tapping her fingers against her desk. We’re her visions trying to tell her not to worry about Enid and Ajax who were currently together in their on and off relationship. That it didn’t matter because she and Enid would wed anyways. And who the hell was Eydith? And how was she connected to the wolf? The goth scratched at her head in annoyance, trying to piece this all together.
Wednesday looked back and saw that Enid’s bed was currently empty. Her bed covers still pristine and stuffed animal neatly placed instead of a jumbled mess on the floor. She lets out a sigh and looks at the shiny, ebony watch on her wrist. She nearly blinked in surprise at the time.
It was nearly two in the morning and Enid had yet to return. Wednesday stroked her chin contemplating on what to do. Since their return to Nevermore, the werewolf had spent the last four weekends in a row, with the gorgon. Wednesday clenched her jaw when she thought of lazy fool, what the blonde saw in him she’d never know.
She shook her head reprimanding herself, she was above this. She was acting like a school girl with a crush, she sighed and thunked her head against her desk. If the goth thought about it, she was school girl with a crush. And on her roommate of all people. How very cliche.
Wednesday raised her head a noticed the page she had been writing had only one line finished on it. She thought of tearing the page in two for a moment before deciding against it. It was hard to focus as of late.
She would never care to admit but she did miss the sound of Enid singing and dancing along to whatever new garbage the blonde was currently listening to. Wednesday pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration, how could she write without the blonde’s cacophony of noise. It was her perfect form of torture. It provided her the right amount of irritating background noise, to keep her focused on her work.
Wednesday sighed again before twisting in her chair to look at Thing, who was happily sitting on her bed and amusing himself with her phone.
“Thing, check on Enid’s location will you. I hate to be remissed in my friendship duties and not check on her.” The dark-haired girl ordered. The hand gave a thumbs up before opening the messaging app on the goth’s phone. The hand was ready to type out a message when they heard the handle of the door handle begin to jiggle.
Wednesday panicked for some reason, not wanting to explain why she was awake at this hour. Not sure what to do, she decided to pretend to sleep and rested her head on her folded arms. Thing went to Instagram and began to scroll as a tired looking Enid entered the room. Enid smiled fondly at the snoozing raven at her desk and waved at Thing from across the room.
She made her way over to her roommate and stood next to her. Wednesday could feel her roommates presence next to her and felt the warm body heat radiating from the wolf. She heard Thing scuttle over from the bed to stand on the desk.
“ How long has she been here?” Enid whispered to the hand. Thing tapped out his answer, the traitor.
“ She tried staying up to wait for me? She’s been sleeping a lot more recently, it’s not like her. Usually Wens only needs about three hours.” Enid said concernedly and lightly rubbed the girls back. Wednesday felt her face flush she was glad her face was hidden in her arms and hoped Enid’s super hearing wouldn’t catch the fluttering of her heart. Thing tapped the desk in agreement and asked the wolf where she had been.
Enid stopped her caress on Wednesday’s back,“ I was out with Yoko. Ajax didn’t show up to our date… again. So I decided to hang with her and Divina. It was fun.” Enid said reluctantly. Wednesday clenched her jaw, of the course the little dunce flaked for the millionth time, she’d make him pay dearly. Thing tapped against the desk telling the girl she deserved better and that she should have come back sooner.
Enid frowns, instead of answering she pulls Wednesday’s chair back and lifts the girls in her arms easily. Wednesday bit the inside of her cheek, to stop from making a noise. Enid easily carried her over to her bed and gently laid her down and begun to carefully tuck the goth in. Wednesday did her best to control her blush as Enid spoke again.
“ I didn’t want to bother Wens with my problems. It’s her writing time anyways and I think she deserves a little peace. Especially with that stalker creeping around.” Enid explained as she tucked the cover’s under the goth’s chin.
Thing disagreed tapping out, “ She would have understood. You’re her best friend.”
Enid smiled wistfully and Thing climbed up the blonde’s shoulder and gave her a supportive squeeze. Enid fixed a loose hair that fell in front of the goth’s face and swiped her thumb against the apple of the girl’s cheek. Wednesday fought the blush away with all of her Addams’ strength.
Enid turned her head to Thing, “ Any news on that yet?” She asked. The hand tapping out a sad no before hopping off her shoulder and landing on the mattress. Enid twisted her lips sadly, not wanting to get more bad news. She got up and made her way to her closet grabbing her shower bag and pajamas.
“ I’m going to shower. Goodnight Thing, hope you have a better one than I had.” Enid whispered shutting the door behind her. Wednesday waited for the sound of the shower to start and waited a good two minutes after that before rising from the bed like a vampire.
“Thing!” She whispered harshly and Thing stood to attention. Wednesday cracked her jaw, “ I want you to go and make that little viper pay for his insolence. You have my permission to torture him in whatever you see fit.” She hissed. The hand gave a joyful salute before taking off and out of sight, no doubt to wreck havoc on the boy.
Wednesday laid back down crossing her arms over her chest and resting her eyes. Enid was right, she had been sleeping more often. Was it so wrong though, that she enjoyed her dreams more than the waking world. She groaned at herself, she really was an angsty teen in love. And this stalker of hers was more elusive than she thought he’d be. She even enlisted her childhood friend Joel for help, he was a big tech geek and thought he’d be useful in tracking down the guy. But alas nothing.
She shook her head and decided to let these thoughts go for now. She closed her eyes tightly trying to force herself into sleep, scrunching her brows. The raven heard the door open to the bathroom click open, Enid softly padding over to her closet before going over her to her own bed.
The lamp clicked off and Wednesday was finally comforted by the cover of darkness. She felt herself relax, when she heard Enid whisper, “ Goodnight Wens.” The goth felt her eyes pop open and her pulse pick up. Did she know she was awake or was her roommate being her typical sentimental self?
If Wednesday wasn’t so cowardly she might’ve said goodnight as well. She closes her eyes once more and decides to release a breath through her nose and turns over to her side, feigning sleep. She waits to hear Enid’s breath even out before trying to sleep again, she struggled to fall asleep tossing and turning until she hears a guttural scream. No doubt coming from the boy’s dormitory.
Wednesday sighed happily. Good, Thing had carried out his mission successfully no doubt and now she could sleep peacefully knowing the gorgon had gotten what he deserved. She braves a glance in the wolf’s direction and sees the girl sleeping peacefully in the moonlight. If Enid wouldn’t wake at that then surely she would sleep through Uncle Fester’s howls at night. Sge would make an perfect addition to the family, indeed. She falls a sleep admiring the wolf’s ethereal form.
-
Enid’s eyes snap open at the sound of her phone vibrating violently on the bed side table. She groans and snatches the phone up and checking to see what it is. It was Ajax no doubt calling to apologize for his latest fumble. Her thumb hovers over the green button for second before quickly rejecting his call. She had dozens of unread messages from him but decided to toss the phone aside.
It was 6:30 she and Wednesday still had about thirty more minutes to sleep. She lays back down just to catch maybe 10 more minutes of sleep if she’s lucky, she thinks to herself.
Enid wakes to Wednesday violently shaking her, “ Enid! Enid! Get up, we’re going to be late for class!” The goth tells her.
“ Wha? What time is it?” Enid asks sleepily as she tries to cuddle back into to the stuffed scorpion the goth had gifted her for Christmas. She decided to name him Nero the Second in memory of the goth’s pet. He was her cuddle buddy and she couldn’t leave him now.
“ It’s already 8:50, we only have 10 minutes to get to class.” Wednesday explained, Enid groaned and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Glaring up at her roommate with puffed up cheeks. Wednesday merely tsked and tried physically dragging Enid from her bed by her foot. The werewolf giggled and started putting up a fight by kicking and wiggling her way out of Wednesday’s grip.
Wednesday grunted, “ Uh! Fine, you may stay and rest.” Enid nodded and smiled smugly, burrowing herself under her blankets and snuggling her plush scorpion to her. Wednesday rolled her eyes and quickly began getting ready for class. Chucking on her shoes and throwing on her blazer.
Wednesday was tying the knot in her tie when she looked at the dozing blonde, “ I will get your homework and you may look over my notes, I take for the day.” She tells her roommate. Enid grumbles a thanks.
Wednesday slings her bag over her shoulder and heads for the door, “ I’ll see you at lunch, Enid.” she says as she makes her exit.
“ Bye Willa.” Enid says sleepily. Wednesday half smiles and quietly closed the door behind her.
Enid lifts Nero the Second to look into it’s cute button eyes, “ Your other mother can be such a push over Nero. But don’t tell her I said that.” She said to the doll. Making the doll nod in agreement with her.Enid falls back a sleep, dreaming of warm brown eyes and adorable dimples.
-
Wednesday rushed into botany class, barley making it into the classroom as the bell rang. She looked around the classroom for an empty seat and saw Yoko wave her down for the empty seat next to her. The goth breathed a sigh of relief and made her way over, depositing herself into the seat. She took a few deep breaths, running across campus could really take the wind out of you. The smell of the greenhouse help to relax her, it reminded her so much of her mother’s garden, though she’d hate to admit it. She began taking out her materials for class when she catches the vampire staring at her from the corner of her eye.
Yoko smirked at her and lower her glasses, “ I hear from Divina’s brother, that Ajax is in the infirmary this morning. That he woke up with his snakes in jumbled knots and attacking one another. One was so badly knotted up, they decided to just cut it off and let it regrow. I’m assuming you might have something to do with that.” She whispered to the goth.
Wednesday smiled knowingly, “ Why Yoko, I don’t know what you mean. I was at my desk dutifully writing away at my novel all night. In fact Enid’s my witness I was asleep when she came in. How could it be me.” She said. Yoko quietly chuckled as the teacher walked in and began to instruct class.
He ordered them into pairs and assigned them to work together to feed the carnivorous plants that aligned the school gardens. The glass groaned and put on their gear. Extra thick gloves in case the little buggers got any ideas.
Yoko and Wednesday began feeding their baby yellow carnivorous plant it’s bottles of cow’s blood. The vampire looked over to the raven.
“You know, I hope Enid finally breaks up with Ajax, he’s not good enough for her.” Yoko tells the her honestly, while she struggled with feeding the next head of the plant. It sealed it’s lips shut and refused to open them.
Wednesday hums in agreement,“ No one is good enough for Enid. She’s far above anybody here in this hell hole.” She says, easily feeding the plants and tickling one under it’s chin.
Yoko laughs, “ Too true. But what about you?” Asks the vampire. Wednesday brows furrows.
“ What about me?” The goth asks confused, snatching her hand away from a plant that tried to take bite off one of her fingers. The grubby little plant was just being glutenous now.
“ Don’t play dumb Addams. It doesn’t suite you. I know that you like Enid and I know deep down Enid likes you too.” Yoko said knowingly. Wednesday’s heart beat quickened. ‘ Was she so obivious.’ She thought to herself, swatting away another plant trying to take a chunk out of her. Enid did come out to her friends as bi, but just because of that doesn’t mean she liked the goth necessarily. And her dreams or visions or whatever could be misleading her, it wouldn’t be the first time.
“ You two make each other happy and help one another to grow. You both care for each other and protect one another. And Lucifer knows Enid needs something good for once in her life, especially with parents like hers. The relationship you two have is a rare thing, don’t fuck it up. Now toughen up and just ask her out already.” Yoko lectured and wagging her finger at Wednesday. Wednesday nearly lets the plant bite Yoko’s finger off but decides against it. Enid would be furious at her.
Wednesday pushes to move the conversation to a different topic, “ Do you know anyone named Eydith? Anyone connected to Enid by that name?” She asks nonchalantly. Yoko thinks for a moment, mouth twisting in thought.
“ Not that I can think of? Why? Any connection to your stalker?” Yoko asks as she wrestles the bottle away from the carnivorous plant.
Wednesday opens her mouth to reply when the intercom blares to life and principle Weem’s voice screeches out of it, “ Wednesday Addams to the principle’s office! Immediately!”
Wednesday groans and Yoko snickers at the goth’s dismay. She rather deal with a hundred of carnivorous plants than chat with Weems. She begins gathering her things ever so slowly when the intercom comes to life again.
“ And no detours Miss.Addams!!” Weems yells from the intercom.
Yoko laughs, “ Good luck Perseus! Don’t worry I’ll finish up here and see you at lunch.”
Wednesday grumbles under her breath and slinks her way out the classroom and makes her way to the principles office.
-
Wednesday made her way to principle’s office, dragging her feet all the way. When she arrived at the office she knocked harshly on the door, Weems telling her to enter from the other side. The raven twist the antique knob and thinks of slamming the door behind but thinks better of it when she sees Weem’s face already twisted with displeasure.
Weems points to the chair near her desk. Wednesday stomps over and practically throws herself into the seat. The chair nearly clacking over in the process.
Weems lifts a brow, “ Are you done with the theatrics yet Miss. Addams?” She said tiredly. Wednesday doesn’t answer and looks to the side at the roaring fire place.
“ Do you care to explain why Mr.Petropolus was attacked last night?” Weems asked with her chin resting on her knuckles waiting for her student to answer. Wednesday mimicked her principle’s posture.
“ I did nothing. I was in my room all night. What makes you think I’m connected to it?” Wednesday retorted, she was confident the shapeshifter had nothing on her.
“Really?” Weems said with a roll of her eyes and shook her head. She bent down to pull something from under desk.
She set the glass cage down with Thing inside it on her desk. The hand shivering and shaking under the glass under the scrupulous glare of Wednesday and Weems. Wednesday clenched her jaw, of course the idiot got caught.
“ What was Thing doing wandering around the boy’s wing then?” Weems asked. Wednesday glared at the hand before looking back up at the principle. If looks could kill Weems would be dead.
“ How would I know? I am not his keeper. Thing makes his own decisions.” Wednesday explained. Weems huffs and lifts the glass top and allows the hand to exit his prison, she looks down at the hand with a fondness.
“ Thing you may go. I know you wouldn’t have done anything unless under direct orders.” Weems tells him, Thing looks reluctant at first but decides to leave under Wednesday’s threatening glare. He quickly departs, he better get ahead start before the goth gets her hands on him. Weems gets up and opens the door for the hand, wishing him a good day before shutting the door once more.
Weems sighs and goes to the corner of her office and pulls out a coffee cart. The goth watches her as she begins preparing herself and her student a coffee. She kept an eye on her, making sure the woman didn’t poison her after all the trouble she caused her. Weems comes back and hands the goth her coffee as she once more sits back at her desk. Wednesday takes a sip and is surprised to find that its just how she likes it.
Wednesday eyed the tall woman, “ How’d you know I liked my coffee this way?” She asked suspiciously. Weems simply smiled, “ I didn’t. I made it the way your mother always preferred it.” She said almost too sweetly for Wednesday’s taste. Wednesday sneered, lowering the cup from her lips. She detested to be reminded how much like her mother she truly was, she was her own person damn it.
Weems sipped her coffee once more before speaking, “Wednesday I know how important Miss. Sinclair is to you. But you cannot bully Mr.Petropolus every time he upsets her. From what Thing told me, Enid chooses to stay with him.” Weems explained to the glowering goth.
Wednesday clenches her jaw, Thing could be such a gossip, he was hanging around Enid too much. Loose lips sank ships after all. “ Enid doesn’t know what’s good for her.” She said tightly, Weems only quirked a brow, “ And you do? How very presumptuous. ” she says to the raven.
The Raven holds back a biting comment, that out everyone Weems should understand. She should know what it’s like to have the love of your life be in the arms of another. She saw how Weems looked at her mother and how her mother always seemed to hold a candle for the giantess. She decides to take another drink from the black coffee that burned her throat rather than answer her superior.
“Wednesday I know that you are very… mature for your age. But you have to understand that most people your age make very dumb decisions and you have to let them. Its apart of growing up.” Weems explains and takes another sip of her drink, “ Take it from me who has lost a numerous amount of friends by involving myself in their affairs.” She says sadly.
Wednesday set her cup down and looked into the fire. Perhaps Weems was right, although Enid would grow slightly annoyed when Wednesday tortured Ajax for wronging doing, how long could that last. Would Enid grow to detest her overprotectiveness and end their friendship. Enid had left her once before what was to stop her from doing it again.
Wednesday frowns and throws her hands up in defeat, “ But what else am I supposed to do? Be a shoulder to cry on? That’s not my strong suite.” The goth says resting a hand on her cheek.
Weems sighs and sets down her cup, “ Well it’s going to have to be. If you are to attack Mr.Petropolus again then you will be expelled from school.” Weems tells her seriously.
Wednesday stands in outrage, “ You can’t!” The goth says angrily. How could she? She couldn’t leave the wolf behind with her childish boyfriend and her abusive mother. She could trust Yoko but she was busy with her own life, who would watch over her wolf.
“ Miss. Addams sit down! I made a promise to your mother and father to keep an eye on you and to keep you out of trouble. And if threatening to expel you is the only way to get you cooperate with me than I will.” Weems concluded and put her strong hand on Wednesday’s shoulders to get her to sit back down. Weems settles back into her seat and picks her coffee cup up once again and let’s Wednesday’s angered breathing even out.
“ I will not let anyone know what happened this time. Let everyone think it was caused by Ajax’s own foolish behavior, which I don’t think will be hard for anyone to believe. But in return you will spend the rest of the week cleaning the library from top to bottom and assisting the staff with anything they may need. You will not be attending any classes and I will have your homework sent to you. ” Weems explains to the young woman, Wednesday glowers and slumps in her chair. Sounds like this was just detention to her, disguised as Weems doing her a favor. And dismissed from classes? She loved to learn but she supposed Weems loved her petty torments. It was a in school suspension, the goth decided.
“ Now finish your coffee and head straight to the library. Miss.Cato will be needing your assistance, I assume.” Weems ordered, entirely too smug with herself for Wednesday’s taste. The goth reluctantly sat back and started to take the smallest sips possible if only to annoy the principle and delay her punishment.
-
A half hour later the seer found herself in the library, being dragged to records room. Carrying a tower of books that was nearly the size of herself. Miss.Cato was serious young witch, maybe late twenties to early thirties. She had immediately thrown the heavy books into the seer’s arms as soon as she walked through the library doors. The air nearly being knocked out of the seer.
“ And this is where you’ll start. Clean all the year books and you will be excused for the day. If you finish early then I’m sure I will find something else for you to do.” Miss.Cato said as she easily grabed the books from the seer’s arms and set them on the counter. Miss Cato handed Wednesday a rag and duster and the goth nodded silently. She makes her way over to the corner and begins taking off books from the first shelf and get’s to work. Some of the books were so old she had to be careful with her grip on them, she felt as if they would disintegrate under her touch.
Miss.Cato watched her clean the first few shelves before excusing herself and headed out to front desk. Wednesday worked tirelessly and decided to take a break midway through. No wonder Miss Cato assigned this to her, this place was a mess.
The books were completely unorganized and not placed chronologically, she found year books from 1800s mixed with ones from 1700s. ‘Such chaos.’ The goth thought to herself, she cracked her neck and sat down on a near by stool, when she felt a buzz in her pocket.
It was few messages from her stalker with the usual violent threats, but what surprised her most was the picture that he sent. He heart began racing in her chest, it was a photo of her cleaning the library shelves not that long ago. But that was impossible she was all alone not nary a soul was in here. There was only one way in and one way out. She grabbed her knife from her boot and looked around the shelves but saw nothing.
She felt her phone buzz again, she looked down and saw it was a text from Enid. She opened it and frowned
Enid: I cannot believe Yoko!! >:( She can be so nosey! And that comes from a girl with a gossip blog!!
Wednesday bit her lip and her brow furrowed. Those two get along like storm clouds and rain, what could have the vampire possibly said? Wednesday pocketed her knife and typed back.
Wednesday: What do you mean?
The goth didn’t seem to need to wait when Yoko busted into the records room, a plastic white take out bag in hand.
“ I’m fucked!” Yoko said angrily as she stomped in, throwing the bag onto the table haphazardly.
Wednesday blinked, “ H- How did you know I was here?” She asked as she inspected the bag. She noted the container of blood and the styrofoam box, she assumed the blood was for Yoko. But the vampire would let her take a sip here and there from her lunches on somedays when no one was looking. Yoko grabbed her container of blood and ripped off the lid causing some to splatter on the table.
“ Weems told me. She was gonna bring this herself but asked me to do it instead. Now, can we keep the conversation on me please!” Yoko urged and started guzzling down some blood. Wednesday eyed her phone.
“ What happened?” Wednesday asked as she pulled her stool over to sit down. She opened the box and saw a rather large sandwich with a side of salad with fries. Wednesday shrugged to herself, it would do. She took a large bite of the sandwich.
“It’s Enid. She’s pist! I’ve never seen her like this, she nearly bit my head off.” She said with a gasp after a rather large chug. Wednesday only looked at her and raised a brow in question and a frown.
Yoko sighed, “ Its my own fault. The eager pup is back with Ajax after a half-assed apology. I told her I disagreed with her choice and that I didn’t understand why she kept getting back with him. She got angry and we started arguing. I then asked her if she was just staying with him to get her mom off her back. She then took a swipe at my head, thank Lucifer for my vampiric speed, she would have knocked my head clean off!” She rambled. The stress seemed to be getting to her as she began dunking fries in her container of blood and chomping them down.
The goth pinched the bridge of her nose, it seems like Weems was right. You could lead a horse to water but couldn’t force them to drink. But she couldn’t blame Yoko, it was asinine watching Enid doing the same thing over and over again. And although Yoko’s questioning about her Enid’s mother was harsh, it was good to make Enid think about things. The girl would just go through the motions sometimes, it was aggravating.
Wednesday wondered if her roommates over commitment to clubs and her boyfriend, were only distractions from any self reflection or thought of the reality of her situation. She doubted Enid told her mother of her sexuality and from rooming with her, she knew that the wolf would often use her relationship with Ajax as a distraction from her mother digging too far into her life. She took another bite from her sandwich, lost in thought.
“And not only that but when I asked her if she knew anything about an Eydith, she lunged at me and told me to mind my business and to never say that name again! Divina had to hold her back as I ran away.” Yoko continued and scarfed down more blood drenched fries.
Wednesdays’ eyes widen, this Eydith had to be someone the wolf knew personally. She clicked her nails against the desk, a cousin perhaps.
“Whoever that person is, Enid did not want you to know about it. We must investigate.” Wednesday decided and got up and began looking through the shelves from the past 20 to 30 years.
Yoko gulped, “ Are you serious? I’m not in! Enid is already angry at me! I don’t want to make it worse. And we don’t even know who were looking for. Eydith is a pretty common name.”
“Not that common.” Came a voice from the doorway. The duo twists their necks and there stood Miss.Cato eyeing them from across the room with her arms crossed over her chest.
Wednesday glares at her, “ You know who this Eydith is?” She interrogated. The witch smiles with a glint in her eyes and snaps her fingers. A year book from 2013 flys up and lands on the table, the page flips until it lands on its intended page.
Miss. Cato peers over their shoulder and points at a small photo of a blonde girl and taps it.
“ Miss. Eydith Sinclair. My oldest friend and the only lone wolf to ever graduate Nevermore.” She explains and laughs at their shocked expression, “ Sorry! I thought I would save you kids sometime.”
“ Sinclair? Is she Enid’s cousin?” Wednesday asks the librarian. Miss.Cato shakes her head sadly, her eyes going dark.
“ No. This Enid’s older sister.” Miss. Cato reveals to them as Wednesday snatches up the book to look closer at the photo and Yoko chokes on her blood. Miss.Cato slapping harshly on Yoko’s back to clear her throat. Wednesday studied the photo, she had Enid’s signature blue eyes but had much sharper features than her sister, and mousy hair.
“ Wha- What!? Enid never mentioned she had a sister before! I’m her best friend! How could she not tell me.” Yoko said shocked, waving her hands in disbelief. Miss. Cato leaned against the desk.
“She’s not allowed to Yoko. Once a wolf is exiled from their pack, the rest of the pack can never speak to or talk about them again.” The Liberian answered the vampire.
“ Why was she kicked out?” The goth questioned. Miss.Cato shook her head sadly, “ Eydith never transformed. Still has a highly sensitive sense of smell, agility, and of course her claws. But that wasn’t good enough for Esther. Kicked her out of the pack their last year of school. She almost didn’t graduate.” She told the goth. Wednesday clenched her fists, Esther was a terribly cruel mother though she always tried to pretend other wise.
“ God Esther can be such a bitch.” Yoko said what they we’re all thinking.
“ Do you know where she is? How we can contact her?”asked the ravenette. Perhaps, Wednesday could get Eydith to reconnect with her younger sister. And maybe then the older wolf can take her in and get her away from her terrible parents. The witch smiled and nodded.
“I do. I can contact her after work to see where she is. She travels all over but I’m sure I can get her to come down here.” Miss.Cato says with a wink. She lets the girls finish their lunch and heads back to work.
Yoko decided to ditch her classes for the day and stay with Wednesday, it was safer for her that way. As they cleaned the rest of the books, Wednesday explained the latest text from her stalker. Yoko seemed very concerned and tried to theorize who the stalker could be. When they finished Yoko and Wednesday agreed to come back tomorrow to follow up with Miss.Cato.
It was nearly eight at night when they finished, both deciding to go to the cafeteria to see what scraps were left. They were sitting down to eat when Wednesday checked her phone to see about a dozen texts from Enid and few from Xavier wondering where she was. She began to reply to them, while happily listening to Yoko being chewed out by her siren girlfriend for just running off and not answering her text.
Wednesday smirked as Yoko finally hung up on her girlfriend. Yoko glared at her, “ Oh don’t look so smug. Don’t think I’ve forgotten our conversation. The next break up Enid and Ajax have…and believe you me it will happen. You are going to confess your feelings! Even if i have to torture it out of you.” Yoko declared.
“I’d like to see you try bloodsucker.” Wednesday jabbed and Yoko chuckled.
“ Ha! That’s rich coming from the person asking me for a sip of my drink all the time. I say you’d make an excellent vampire. What do you say Addams, can I take a bite?” Yoko teased and Wednesday shook her head playfully and held up a cross with her fingers.
Although the idea did sound tempting she decided against it. Being immortal didn’t sound all that fun to her, besides she’d rather be a werewolf. The two finish their dinner and continue to Ophelia Hall. Yoko leaves firsts and wishes Wednesday a goodnight.
As the goth nears her door, she can hear the music blaring from the door nearly causing it to vibrate. From the sound of it, it was Mitski, oh she was in for a very long night. Enid was most likely in one of her moods and gossiping with Thing as they did each other’s nails. Wednesday braced herself as she opened the door, and there sat Enid at her desk, typing vigorously at her computer.
Most likely blogging or angrily typing away at an essay, Wednesday couldn’t tell which. Thing was next to monitor looking nervous as he saw Wednesday enter and shut the door loudly behind her, announcing her presence.
“Wednesday! You’re back!” Enid said brightly and looked over her shoulder at her roommate, grinning widely. The blonde gets up and skips over to her roommate and wraps her arms around her, squeezing her so tightly that the goth enjoyed the pain. Wednesday after a moment returns the hug as well, gripping the back of the girl’s hoodie. She glared at Thing from over the blonde’s shoulder, who hastily scurried away to hide in the shadows.
They pull away after a moment and Enid looks at her with her large blue eyes, “ Wens I heard Weems’ announcement. Don’t tell me you got detention again! What did you do this time?” She asked her roommate.
Wednesday bit her lip and was hesitant to answer. Enid saw the guilt in her eyes, “ Do I even want to know?” The blonde asked. Wednesday shook her head, it was best not answer lest she get the same treatment that Yoko was currently getting.
“ All you need to know is that I will be in detention the rest of the week.” Wednesday explained as she made her way to pick up her cello and exits onto the balcony with Enid following closely behind her.
“Ajax was in the infirmary you know. Took them hours to detangle all of his snakes. Even cut off one of them, luckily she’ll grow back.” Enid said to the goth. It took all of Wednesday’s strength not to smile, she bit her lip to keep the grin off her face.
“Oh? I wish him a speedy recovery.” Wednesday lied and hoped the blonde wouldn’t prod further. She sat down on one of the chairs the roommates had bought together for their balcony.Enid following suit and sitting on her own pink chair.
“ We both know that’s not true.” Enid claimed, with what Wednesday was hoping was slight mirth in her eyes. The raven set up her cello and said nothing. They both knew.
“ Do you like Ajax?” Enid asked crossing her arms and her legs as Wednesday tuned her strings.
“Do you?” Wednesday deflected. Enid didn’t answer that and crossed her arms with a huff.
“ It just seems like both of besties don’t like my boyfriend. I mean any time he does something wrong you attack him.” Enid mumbled under breath. Wednesday’s lips stayed in a firm line as she continued to tune her cello and ignored the blonde’s words. She would try to follow Weems advice and not engage about that topic, though the blonde didn’t make it easy.
“ You guys should forgive him. I have. He’s a good guy, really.” Enid said anxiously picking at her nails. Wednesday side eyed her, she wasn’t sure if the blonde was trying to convince her or herself. It mattered not, she’d let the girl make her own conclusions.
“ If you say so.” The goth slips out sarcastically. She kept her eyes on her instrument but felt the blondes penetrating gaze upon her. Damn, the goth thought to herself, maybe Weems’ plan wasn’t the best course of action after all. It was too hard for her not to let her distaste for the boy show and this only was making Enid angrier.
Enid watched the raven like a wolf watching it’s prey, the blonde’s claws gripped at her own knees as if holding herself back from attacking the ravenette. Wednesday glanced in her direction and felt nervous under the girl’s gaze and shakily played the strings and slid the bow across the instrument. She thought to play a bit of Bach but then thought better of it. She looked at the blonde’s glowing blue eyes and clenched jaw, Wednesday gulped.
The tension between them was much too thick. She felt as if she made one wrong move the wolf within the girl would snap. Not that she would mind the feel of fangs on her skin and claws digging into her. She cleared her throat, thoughts for another time perhaps.
She glanced at the girl, and thought for a moment they did say that music could soothe the wildest of beasts. She did know Enid best and knew how to calm the girl down, Weems didn’t know her roommate liked she did. She decided to play one of the blonde’s favorite, Hate to See Your Heart Break by Paramore, it was a sad song and reminded her very much of the blonde.
The blonde had already been through so much at such young age. She was a gentle soul who deserved a better mother than Esther and a better intended than Ajax. Wednesday wish she could just tell her how much she meant to her, but never quite seemed to find the words.
Morticia taught Wednesday how to play many instruments, she saw how hard it was for her daughter to express herself after poor Nero’s passing. Music helped her to express the emotions she could never find with words. Wednesday begins to play running her fingers and bow over the instrument and glancing over at Enid every once in a while. She noticed the blonde relax and her claws retract, her blue eyes softening from a bold sapphire to a crystal pool.
Wednesday sighed with relief and continued to play for the blonde, who after a minute or two joined in and began to sing a long. The raven smiled softly at the wolf who returned the gesture back as they continued the song under the glow of the moonlight. They played a few songs there after, Wednesday happy that she had successfully avoided a fight with the blonde. She didn’t want to be in Yoko’s shoes, and she certainly didn’t want Enid to leave her again.
After their music session, they settled back into their dorm with Wednesday typing away at her story as Enid sat curled up in her bed reading a book and playing soft music on her speaker. The goth enjoyed the easy peace, she could focus on her story getting nearly five pages done. Her back began to sore after a few hours of writing, she cracks her back with a twist of her spine and watches Enid giggle at whatever was written.
“What are you reading?” Wednesday asked curiously with a tilt of her head.
“ A book Yoko recommended me. It’s about an adventurer who finds a vampire in a tomb. The vampire has been sleeping for thousands of years and she accidentally awakens her with her blood.” Enid explained with a sequel clutching the book to her chest.
“ How romantic.” Wednesday said seriously. What was more romantic than nourishing your loved one with your own life force. Also who didn’t love a good vampire lesbian love story. Enid nodded in agreement with her.
“ Oh I know?! Isn’t it? Practically sleeping beauty. But anyways I guess they're trying to stop her father from destroying the sun or whatever but I mainly read it for the romance.” Enid gushed.
“ Sounds interesting.” Wednesday said genuinely, perhaps she could borrow it from the blonde when she was done. More inspiration for her book could never hurt.
“Trust me Wens! You’ll love it. And oh- Oh. I love the part where the vampire finally stands up to her tyrannical father for her girlfriend! It’s amazing. I’m almost done with it! You can read it when I finished. It’s a whole series, but I’m kinda rushing to finish the first one.” Enid said. Wednesday raised a brow at that.
“ Enid why are you rushing to finish? You’re usually a slow reader?” Wednesday asked. The blonde usually would take a long time when reading over the raven’s newest draft. The goth appreciated it, Enid took special care in giving feedback and writing critiques on pink sticky notes for the goth to add to her writings.
Enid blushed and shrugged her shoulders,“ Well… Maybe so I can have an excuse to talk to Yoko tomorrow. I know my behavior wasn’t the best today but I really don’t want to talk her about Ajax or the other thing she mentioned.” She said eyes not meeting Wednesdays and holding the book tightly against herself again.
But she shook her head and smiled tightly, “ Besides Yoko’s my best friend. Besides you of course! She’ll let it go. We don’t always have to apologize to one another. Especially, if I finally finish this book.” Enid explained before cracking opening the book again and propping Nero 2 next to her.
Wednesday twisted her lips, “ Don’t you think you should apologize? Yoko looked positively petrified when she ran into the library.” Wednesday lamented before she snapped her mouth shut and her eyes widen. Oh no, she had made grave mistake.
Enid’s neck snapped towards her and she shut the book shut, putting it down on her night stand. She even turned Nero 2 away from the goth’s direction. Wednesday turned back to her desk and pretended to be typing.
“ Wens. What did Yoko tell you?” She demanded, her tone was of mother, who caught their child drawing on the walls. Wednesday’s pulse quickened, though she tried to slow down her breathing as to not give herself away.
“ Um.. nothing too important.” The goth said with as much innocence as possible, trying to make herself appear busy by stacking papers and opening drawers. She heard a growl from behind her and turned to see blue glowing eyes boring into her.
“ Wens! We are best friends! And you promised me we would not lie to each other anymore.” Enid lectured. Wednesday sighed, ‘Damn the blonde was using her own words against her.’ The goth thought. Wednesday got up and started gathering her night clothes, perhaps sticking to Weems’ plans was the best course of action. Enid shot up out of her bed and put her hands to her hips and raced to the middle of the room.
“ Don’t ignore me, Wednesday Friday Addams. Tell me what Yoko said right now!” Enid demanded of her roommate. Wednesday stopped dead in her tracks, her hand hovering over the bathroom door. She can’t believe Enid would lecture her like she was a petulant child! Curse her mother for telling Enid about her middle name, she knew there was no way out of a fight now. Enid had gone too far invoking the girl’s middle name.
“ We- We just discussed how we don’t understand why you’re with Ajax.”Wedneday said as a matter of factly, quickly twisting the knob to the bathroom and throwing in her clothes. She’d be lucky if she got a chance to shower at all tonight or even sleep.
“Oh really? I didn’t know my two best friends loved to talk about me behind my back.” Enid retorted, with a scowl upon her face.
“It’s not like that,Enid. And you know it.” Wednesday remarked crossing her arms over her chest.
“ Then what’s it like Wens!? Tell me!” Enid’s voice rising with anger. Wednesday’s brow twitched at the blonde’s tone, she felt sorry for anyone rooming near by. The duo was usually loud but she had no doubt they’d be reported tonight at the screaming match that was about to unfold.
“ We all know you deserve better than Ajax! And you’re all for sharing our feelings, but for some reason when it comes to you and Ajax, suddenly we’re not allowed to say how we really feel!” Wednesday yelled, feeling her face get hot.
“ Because he’s my boyfriend! You guys should support my choices!” Enid shouted back, her pale face turning a bright red with anger. When Wednesday began approaching her, it reminded her of a shark swimming after its prey. She almost took a step back when the goth rounded on her, her dark eyes burning through her.
“ Even if the choice is terrible! He has never been an adequate boyfriend to you! You’re just mad at Yoko, for being a good friend and telling you the truth!” Wednesday snapped at her.
“ He’s- He’s perfectly adequate!” Enid cried, her claws beginning to unsheathe. Wednesday snorted out a bitter laugh and rolled her eyes.
“ Oh please, Enid. Would a good boyfriend constantly ditch your dates to smoke who knows what! With who knows who?! Not even bothering to tell you and leave you waiting for hours?!” Wednesday fumed, she could feel herself shaking with rage. She hates to see the sadness in her roommates eyes but the blonde had pushed her to this point.
“I- I well it’s not his fault! He forgets sometimes, he get’s so wrapped up in whatever he’s doing and he forgets. It’s not personal.” Enid said defensively and took a step back from the goth. Wednesday trudged forward still and was nearly an arm length’s away when she came to a grinding stop.
“ Oh, please! Than he can set a timer! Multiple timers if need be! Face it Enid, you’re not a priority! He’s made that abundantly clear. Why do you even want to be with him!?” Wednesday seethed with rage, throwing her hands up in aggravation. She wanted to grip Enid by the shoulders and shake some sense into her but her hands remained at her side.
Enid withdrew into herself and the tears began to well up in her eyes as she began to retreat back to her bed. Her metaphorical tail between her legs. The goth felt bad for half a second but continued, she really needed to hammer this point into the blonde’s thick skull.
“ Just give me one good reason why you’re with him, Enid! Give me one and I’ll leave it alone!” Wednesday shouted getting closer to the blonde once again as she stalked over to her. Wednesday stopped when she was breathe away from the other girl.
The wolf begins pacing back and forth, looking around the room as if searching for the answer in the rafters. Wednesday irritatingly tapped her boot against the floor.
“ Well?!” The goth said through gritted teeth. Enid ignored her and paced back and forth a few more times before freezing in front of Wednesday.
“ I jus- I don’t know.” Enid whispered honestly, blinking rapidly to keep the tears at bay. Wednesday felt the rage leave her body immediately at seeing Enid’s glossy eyes and deep set frown. This was not what she expected, she thought Enid would think to come up with half-assed lie at least. She thought surely the young teen could come up with something, anything. Maybe that he was nicer than the other boys or that she liked his sense of humor or something. Anything really.
“ What? You don’t know?” Wednesday asked perplexed.
“ It’s just easier this way.” Enid said honestly, the fight inside of her leaving her. She sits on her bed with a sag of her shoulders. Wednesday exhaled through her nose, trying to slow down erratic heart. She could fight with Enid any day but couldn’t stand to see the blonde cry. She approached the blonde cautiously and kneeled in front of her.
The blonde’s claws were at full extension but Wednesday took the blonde’s hands into her own anyways. She felt their razor tips kiss her skin and enjoyed the dull throb.
“ What? Why is this easier?” The raven asked softly, peering into watery blue depths. Enid sniffed and let a tear fall or two, her lips wobbled. Wednesday rubbed the back of the girl’s hands with her thumbs.
“ It’s just my mom. She’s barley accepts me now that I’m full fledged werewolf. Can you imagine if she found out I was bisexual? I’d end up just like my- nevermind.” Enid said with a whimper. She continued, “ It’s just easier to date a guy and pretend I’m straight. It keeps her off my back. And Ajax is nice enough. He’s my friend at the end of the day.” Her claws digging into the goth’s hand as she searched for strength, nearly drawing blood.
But Wednesday didn’t care and gripped her back just as tightly, “ Yoko and I are your best friends ,we are the people who care for you the most. My family adores you. Who cares what Esther thinks.” The goth said sincerely. Her brown eyes searching for blue ones as her roommate refused to look at her.
“ I do.” The blonde cries and sobs more. Wednesday didn’t know what to say. She had heard so many stories of terrible parents abusing their children, and how their children would still fight for their parents love, no matter how bad the abuse. How could one convince someone they were deserving of better, when the person has known nothing but abuse. It was like asking a fish to climb a tree.
She bit the inside of her cheek, Wednesday would at least take one page in Weems’ book. She let go of Enid’s hands for a moment and Enid whimpers. Wednesday took the wolf into her arms and felt the blonde cry into her shoulder. Her and Yoko’s theory about all of this was correct, she knew Esther had something to do with this at the center.
Good thing her plan to reconnect her with her sister was in motion. Or perhaps she could just dispose of Esther instead, she’d doubt anyone would miss her deep down. But she doubted that voicing that would help in the matter right now.
She let the blonde cry into her shoulder until she calmed down. Wednesday pulled away first and saw a few stray tears on the girls face, wiping them away with her sleeve. Enid gave the goth a weak smile and whispered a thank you.
“ I’m sorry for yelling.” Wednesday said politely.
Enid gave a watery chuckle, “ Sorry for picking a fight with you.” She wiped the snot from her nose.
“ Not the brightest idea to pick a fight with an Addams.” Wednesday joked. Enid laughed and slapped the goth’s hand’s away from her face, when she saw the goth wince, Enid paled.
“ Oh. Em. Gee. Wednesday! Your hands! I’ve completely shredded them.” Enid explained in horror. The goth looked down at her hands, they were completely cut up like she had decided to wash her hands with broken glass. Most of the cuts were shallow with only a few bleeding profusely.
Wednesday shook her head, “ It’s okay. What’s life without a little pain.” She explained. Honestly she enjoyed the sting, it reminded her of how powerful the wolf was. She wonder if Tyler’s scars ever healed, a werewolf’s scratch can be deadly after all.
Enid rolled her eyes playfully, “ Just go to the bathroom silly so I can bandage your hands.” She ordered and pointed to the restroom door. Wednesday agreed and dragged herself to the bathroom kicking away her earlier disregarded pajamas on the tiled floor.
She quickly rinsed her hands in the bathroom sink and watched the water turn red from the blood. Enid came in shortly after and pulled out the disinfectant and quickly doused the goth’s hand. Wednesday winced from the sting of the alcohol, gritting her teeth. Enid made her rushed apologies and began to wrap the goth’s hand. When she finished, she pressed a soft kiss to the newly bandaged hand and left the goth to dress herself for bed.
The goth blushed and flexed the hand that the wolf had kissed, she smiled before changing into her pajamas. Grey and black stripped silk pajamas that her father had gotten her, a smaller replica of his own set. After buttoning the last button she exited the bathroom, finding Enid relaxing in her own bed already looking sleepy.
Wednesday began turning off the lights, leaving only the fairy lights above Enid’s bed on. Wednesday began to pull her sheets back and got in, she laid down in her classic vampiric style. She stared in the darkness and wondered if Enid was asleep yet, “ You know I would do anything to see you happy Enid.” She whispered into the darkness. She received no reply, only soft snores from the werewolf.
She began to close her eyes when she heard her phone buzz on her bed side table. She checked it and saw it was the same number from the stalker.
The message read: I don’t think she wants to be saved Wednesday.
Wednesday glared at the screen and gritted her teeth before throwing the phone at the end of her bed. They were arguing loudly, was the stalker outside the room? Or posted out somewhere outside? She’d have Thing check the room for any wire or bug, just to be sure. She gave up on these racing thoughts after a while and slammed her eyes shut and forced herself to go to sleep.
-
When Wednesday opened her eyes once more, she was back in her dream again. She was sure of it. Although this is the farthest she’s ever been in it. She sat at the bar table in their kitchen, she blinked at the counter top and sipped her wine. The older version of Enid was hovering behind her and holding a bag of ice to the back of her head.
“ Don’t worry Tish, I got her! She’ll be fine in a minute or two and we’ll be ready to dance! Damn visions! Always come at the worst times.” Enid shouted down the hall at Morticia. The raven looked toward her mother who offered her a wink and a small wave before she made her exit back into the party. Wednesday felt Enid remove the bag from the back of her head, she only felt a small amount of pain on the back of her head.
“ I’ll get you some more ice sweetheart.” Enid said and kissed the top of her head before making her way to the fridge to refill the bag. Wednesday watched the wolf prepare her another bag of ice.
Enid made her way back to her and smiled softly at her, mirth in her eyes. “ Here you go my darling.” She said. Sliding the bag over to Wednesday at her, she rested her chin in the palm of her hand. Wednesday gently placed the bag back on her head and saw the blonde smirking at her.
“ What?” Wednesday asked curiously, “ Amused that your fiancé is injured.” She joked. Enid smiled only grew wider and shook her head.
“No. I’m just happy to see you.” Her fiancé said cheerfully, eyeing Wednesday up and down. The goth scrunched her nose at the wolf.
“Happy to see me? We’ve been together all day?” Wednesday said. Well at least in the dream they’d been together all day. Enid chuckled and her eyes gleamed with mischief.
“ No we haven’t. In fact, I haven’t seen you in a very long.” Enid explained leaning on the counter top with her elbows.
“Huh? What do you mean?” Wednesday asked raising a quizzical brow and removing the ice from her head to set it back on the counter.
“ I know you’re not my Wednesday.” Enid teased and booped the younger girl’s nose. Wednesday blushed for a moment and rubbed her nose.
“ What? How did you-“ Wednesday was going to ask when Enid interrupted her with a wave of her hand.
“Know that its you? You told me! Well the future you told me this would happen. She said that the younger version of herself would possess her on the day of our engagement. And now here you are. Besides I recognize that old glower anywhere.” Enid explained as if it was the most simple concept in the world.
Wednesday’s jaw dropped she knew she was a seer but she didn’t know she could actually go forward in time like this. She picked up Enid’s phone from the counter and pressed in the code, it was Wednesday’s birthday and it seems that the blonde had never changed it.
It was very sweet and sentimental but a disaster if she we’re to ever be hacked. Wednesday turned on the phone and flipped it the front facing camera and saw her older self for the first time. She was surprised to say the least.
Her hair was much shorter and her skin looked less pale and looked almost glowey. She also no longer had dark circles under eyes and she happily noted the bite mark on her neck. A mating bite from Enid no doubt. She traced the mark with a free hand and heard Enid giggle. She looked over the phone and saw Enid smiling brightly at her.
She felt her face grow hot, she cleared her throat and set the phone down on the counter. “ Do you know why am I here? Why I’ve been having this same vision over and over.” She asked seriously.
The blonde shook her head and shrugged, “ I don’t. I was hoping you did. You are the psychic after all.”
Wednesday frowned and nodded back, folding her hands in front of her on the counter. Lost in thought. Of course future her didn’t make this easy and just tell Enid why she’s there.
“ You know, you can ask me anything you want? I am from the future. I can tell you pretty much anything you want to know.” Enid suggested. Wednesday nodded once more and stared at her hands, thinking of what to ask.
“Will we catch my stalker?” She asked about the most pressing question on her mind.
“ Pft.Yes! Of course we will silly! You haven’t failed a case yet.” Enid said easily with a wave of her hand.
“That’s a relief. Also doesn’t hurt to know I have a perfect record.” Wednesday boasted. The blonde laughed at Wednesday’s pride.
“ Haha yes. Now, Is that all you wanted to know?” The blonde asked.
“Yes.” Wednesday said confidently and then quickly deflated “ No.” she admitted. She though for a minute. There was one thing that bothered her, deep down.
“ Did you ever like Ajax?” Wednesday asked. Her shoulders tensed preparing herself for the answer.
“ I did like him at first. But then I met you and everything changed. You were all I ever thought about. You’re still all I ever think about.” Enid said fondly and rested her hands over the younger girls.
“ Am I doing the right thing? Involving your sister into your life again?” Wednesday questioned. She had to be sure, she was doing right by her friend.
“ It’s one of the best things you’ve ever done for me. And I will always be grateful for it. But won’t be easy. You and Yoko will have a helluva a time a head. My sister can be a stubborn girl!” Enid admitted and shook her head thinking of her sister.
Wednesday nodded solemnly. She could deal with that. How much more stubborn could she be than her younger sister. Enid squeezed Wednesday’s hands supportively.
“ But remember this Wends. If you want your plan to work and for my sister to take me in. Just remember to tell her to stand up for me. Stand up for me the way no one stood up for her. Can you do that?” Enid urged. Wednesday have never seen the blonde look so serious.
“I can do that.” Wednesday swore.
“ I know you will! If anyone can go toe to toe with that woman it’s you! And don’t worry too much, we’ll all be besties after all is said and done. ” Enid confirmed with a smile. Wednesday felt a small smile tug at her own lips at seeing her fiancé smile.
“And one more thing.” Wednesday said flatly.
“ Yes? What’s up sweetheart?” Enid asked as she rubbed her thumb on the back of the goth’s hands. Wednesday flushed and looked away.
“ I just wanted to say. I- I’m happy to see you too.” The goth shyly admitted. Biting her lip in embarrassment.
“ Me to Wens.” The older girl said patting the girl’s hand and gazing into her eyes. Wednesday looked into the wolf’s blue depths and felt herself fading away. She had to confess to the blonde one more thing.
“ I- I wanted to say, thanks. For keeping me company all these weeks. This vision or whatever this is, well. I enjoyed spending it with you.” Wednesday confessed.
“ Ditto.” The blonde said with a wink.
Wednesday felt her self beginning to fade away, Enid kissed her brow.
“ I’ll see you soon.” Enid said.
“ See you soon.” Wednesday replied with a big dimpled grin.
