You can crash my car tonight (without my cat inside)

Summary:

Lena Luthor is 3 things. A sharp minded, extremely brilliant scientist and CEO, a useless lesbian, and arguably most important to the story at hand, a cat mom. Lena has a very cute, very cuddly, VERY curious kitten named Oisin. Naturally, being a CEO means she can’t spend as much time as she would like with Oisin, and needed to hire someone to regularly check on the gray ball of fluff when she is out of town for business. That’s where Kara comes in.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Finding a potential pet sitter for a high profile CEO was easier than Jess thought. Rover, the popular pet sitting app, actually had a NDA friendly owner side as well. Jess lined up first meetings with several different people. Her boss was very particular with who she hired at L-Corp, and would be no different with the future caretaker of Oisin, the Maine Coon kitten she recently adopted. Jess ran the interviews in Lena’s apartment, wanting to see how Oisin interacted with the candidates, but not wanting to reveal who they would be pet sitting for unless they passed the kitty stress test. The first few interviews went well enough, but Oisin hid when he met both Rover sitters. Jess was determined to find the perfect cat sitter, who would make little Oisin comfortable and also be professional when interacting with Lena and respectful of her space. The assistant went through at least 10 interviews, rejecting all of them either due to Oisin not vibing with them, or little quirks here and there. A few people were eyeing the CEO’s expensive appliances and art a little too intensely for Jess’ liking.

Finally, Jess found the one. The literal embodiment of sunshine, who Oisin immediately walked up to and curled up onto her lap, Kara Danvers. 26, tall, blonde, and handsome, who flashed a megawatt smile and treated Oisin with a gentleness Jess had only seen Lena show. The assistant immediately knew Kara was the one to take care of the little guy, but had to ask the standard questions just to make sure.

“So, Kara. How long have you been working with animals,” Jess asks, marveling at the gray kitten curled up in Kara’s lap, purring his little heart out.

Kara smiled and answered while still petting Oisin. “I have always loved animals, so much so that I am currently in school to be a vet. I am working as a vet tech right now at the National City Veterinary Hospital, but it barely covers the bills, so here I am.”

“Perfect. How comfortable would you be having my boss being your only client? She will compensate you more than fairly if Oisin is the only animal you watch.”

Kara’s eyes widened slightly but she took the information in stride, wondering just who owned this seemingly privileged cat.

“As long as I am making as much as I need to, I would be more than happy with that arrangement; my job is a few blocks away and I normally have to take the bus or ride my bike to other Rover’s, so this would be perfect.”

Jess smiled, excited to have found the one for Lena’s needs, and eager to have a good candidate to move forward to the second, and final, interview.

“I am glad to hear that. Can you come back for a second interview tomorrow at this same time? My boss, the owner, wants to interview you too, and if all goes well you are Oisin’s new caretaker.”

Kara grinned brightly, agreed to meet back at the penthouse at 7pm tomorrow, and walked to the elevator, already impatient to meet Oisin’s owner. The blonde had a few higher profile clients in the past, some B list celebrities and old money trust funders, but this was the first time she wasn’t interviewed by the owner.

“I bet it’s someone hot like Anne Hathaway or something, I heard she lives here in NC. Total mommy,” Alex said over a slice of pizza. Kara headed straight to her sister’s apartment after her interview for their weekly sister nights, usually full of trashy reality TV and junk food.

“I mean maybe, but I thought she was married? Whoever she is, she is single or at least not living with her partner.”

“Okay, using my super sneaky detective skills I think we can figure out who this mystery woman is before you meet her tomorrow.”

Kara laughed, knowing her sister would actually stay up all night scouring social media with the limited information that Kara had and find the mystery woman.

“Not necessary Alex, but thanks. You know I like surprises. Feel free to investigate and I will either confirm or deny who you think it is tomorrow.”

“Deal. If I’m right, you have to come to Al’s and meet that girl I’ve been trying to set you up with,” Alex said with a smirk.

Kara rolled her eyes, never having much luck with dating after she broke it off with Mike.

“Fine, but if you’re wrong you will leave my dating life alone and let me handle it.”

“Deal. I will text Siobhan and let her know you’re available tomorrow night.”

Kara laughed and shoved Alex, slightly exasperated but never annoyed with her sister’s antics. They spent the rest of the night catching up on Bachelor in Paradise, eating way too much ice cream, and eventually turning in for the night. Kara crashed on the couch as was tradition of sister’s night, and Alex stayed up combing through the internet looking for any inkling as to who was potentially employing Kara.

“Whoever it is does not have much internet presence,” Alex mumbled to herself. She had been searching for over an hour with minimal success on all social media. Alex decided to take a different route, determined to make Kara go on a date. (but mostly to prove she can find anyone online) Alex pulled up the local animal shelter’s Facebook page, knowing that they posted all of the adopted animals with their new owners before they left, hoping to find someone with a gray kitty named Oisin. She scrolled for 45 minutes before almost passing a post with the cat she had been looking for. The brunette smiled wickedly, finally discovering who owned Oisin: Lena fucking Luthor. She couldn’t wait to tell Kara what time to be at Al’s tomorrow.
