Work Text:
Izuku Midoriya was sure of a few particular truths in his life. One, U.A accepting him was a dream come true. Two… Katsuki Bakugou was a pain in his ass.
“Hey, Zuku, guess what?”
“Hmm?”
“I won again.” Katsuki said, pressing the button to activate his last minute boost to get his avatar across the finish line.
“Oh I hate you. You jerk.” Izuku whined, his character coming in fourth. Katsuki laughed, leaning over and pressing a quick kiss to his puffed out cheek.
“Hey, when we go back to the dorms… I left you a surprise in your room. I figured you’d like it considering how much you hate having to fall back into the routine.”
‘The routine’, referring to the utter harassment that his Kacchan would unleash once the two were back in school, because everyone believed they were rivals.
Izuku sighed, leaning over to rest his head on Katsuki’s shoulder. “Kacchan?”
“Yeah Zuku?”
“I love you. Please don’t be too mean to me.”
“Oh, I'm gonna be a bitch to you. Be prepared. Gotta make up for the sappy shit somehow.”
“Kacchaaaaannn.” Izuku whined, burying his head into Katsuki’s neck. “You’re such a bully.”
“Only for you, sweethear–did you just lick me?!”
Izuku pulled back giggling, pulling his sleeve down, wiping Katsuki’s neck off and scooting away.
“No no no, get back here.” Izuku watched as Katsuki crawled over, hovering over the top of him. “I love you.” He stated before leaning down and kissing him. Izuku pulled him down closer, kissing him back and tangling his hand into Katsuki’s hair.
As Katsuki pulled back, he rested his forehead against Izuku’s, closing his eyes.
“I love you too, Kacchan.” Izuku said, running his fingers through the blond spikes. As they lay there, Inko burst into the room.
“Oh my. I’m so sorry. I’ll– Dinner is ready.”
“No, mama, you didn’t--oh... well.” Katsuki began to laugh as Izuku continued to stutter out an explanation, even after Inko closed the door and scurried back down the hallway. “You’re a menace, Kacchan.”
“You’re the one who just got busted for screwing around with me.”
“We were not Kacchan!”
‘Not right now, but the other day we–”
“Ok! I think mom said dinner was ready!” Izuku pushed Katsuki off of him and onto the bed, quickly standing up and rushing to the door of his bedroom before even making sure Katsuki was ok. He booked it down the hall and into the kitchen, still slightly discombobulated.
“I didn’t mean to walk in on you! Please forgive me.”
“You didn’t mama, Kacchan had tackled me because I licked him when he won a round of our game. You just happened to walk in at the wrong time.”
“Oh. Don’t lick people, Izuku.” Inko said, her voice sounding disappointed.
“Yeah, Izuku, don’t lick people. It’s gross.” Katsuki said, drawing nearer to the two in the kitchen before coming to a stop in the doorway, leaning against it.
“Then don’t antagonize me, Katsuki.” Izuku pouted, and Inko giggled a bit.
“I do as I please, nerd. And it pleases me to antagonize.”
“You boys are something else.”
After the very short break, everyone returned to school. Izuku loved being able to see his friends on a regular basis, yes, but he sometimes wished for more breaks and more time with Katsuki. It was hard to sneak around on each other's floors to see each other at night, and Katsuki’s friends lacked knocking skills. You can only pass off studying a couple of times when people walk in on you ‘sparring’. Although, Izuku rationalized, Katsuki’s friends do all tend to be pretty oblivious.
“Hey Midoriya, did you get hurt yesterday during training?”
“What do you mean, Kaminari-kun?” he had asked.
“You’ve got a lot of bruises on you! You good?” Kaminari had proceeded to ask. At this point, the entire locker room held their attention on him.
“O-oh. I’m fine, I’m just clumsy.”
That seemed to satisfy almost everyone, but a few others gave him skeptical looks. He looked over at Katsuki to see him suppressing a laugh.
Izuku shuttered at the memory. That was horribly awkward, but a great example of why Izuku didn’t worry too much about people finding out. When you end up in a relationship with someone who ‘bullies’ you, people tend to not even consider that as a possibility.
“Beat it Deku, I want some peace and quiet for once while the extras aren’t here.” Kastuki snapped, pushing past Iida and Todoroki, who stood by the elevator discussing something class related.
“Bakugou! Be nice to your classmates!” Iida yelled, chopping the air. Izuku subtly smiled, Katsuki could be such a little brat when he was pretending not to care about others.
“It’s fine Iida-kun. You know how he is.”
“You should not be allowing his behavior! It tears you down!” Iida said, and Izuku just nodded.
“It doesn’t hurt. I know Kacchan, if he meant it he would have started cussing me out.”
“Ok, if you insist he wasn’t being rude, I will let this go.”
“Trust me, that was nothing.” Izuku shifted his backpack on his shoulder slightly and then continued. “I’m going to unpack this, I’ll be back down for dinner in a bit.” He waved goodbye to both of his friends and headed to the elevator, pressing the button for his floor. He walked down the hall, pulling his keys out and unlocking his room.
There, on the bed, was an oversized black hoodie. Izuku fought the urge to squeal like a schoolgirl and picked it up, bringing it to his face and inhaling. The scent of caramel hit him, and he immediately smiled. Katsuki’s smell was always so comforting to Izuku. He pulled the hoodie on and finished unpacking his backpack, tossing his school supplies back in messily and rushing to put his clothes away in their proper places.
“Yo Midoriya! It’s dinner time!” Kaminari yelled down the hall. “You’re the only one back on this floor so far, so let's go!” Izuku quickly grabbed his keys and stuffed them into his pocket, running out the door and down the hall to the elevator where Kaminari stood.
“Thanks, Kaminari. Who was in charge of dinner tonight?”
“Satou and Hagakure… Nice hoodie dude, where’d you get it?” Kaminari smirked, stepping closer to him. “Kinda smells like Bakugou. That’s suspicious.”
Izuku paled. He had forgotten he was wearing the hoodie.
“Don’t worry dude, If you’re dating him just say it.” Kaminari began to laugh, leaning over and clutching his stomach. “That would be so funny bro.”
“Yeah,” Izuku laughed awkwardly, his eyes frantically searching for a place to go except for Kaminari, “So, so funny!”
Kaminari stopped laughing. “Wait, dude, are you actually dating him?”
“I–”
“No fucking way. Oh Hitoshi owes me so much money!”
“Kaminari! You can’t tell anyone! Please.”
“Dude, are you serious? I was just joking.”
“Well, shit. Kaminari please don’t tell anyone.” At this point, Izuku could feel the tears welling up in his eyes.
“I’m sorry Midoriya, I didn’t realize. I won’t tell anyone, but when you do tell the class, do it in front of Toshi so he can give me my money.” Kaminari patted Izuku on the shoulder reassuringly. Izuku curled in on himself, embarrassed and feeling guilty. As the boys exited the elevator, the first thing Izuku noticed was how Kaminari lit up when he saw Shinsou. He frowned to himself, jealous of the way they had so easily made their relationship public and no one thought twice about it.
“Deku.” he heard a quiet hiss from right beside him. Izuku looked down onto the couch to see Katsuki sitting there with Kirishima, helping the redhead with his homework.
“Yes Kacchan?”
You look cute. Katsuki signed.
Kirishima looked shocked for a second before continuing on to his work.
Kacchan, I think Kirishima knows what you said.
Fucker doesn’t know shit.
“Well that wasn’t nice.” Kirishima grumbled, and Katsuki stopped mid sentence.
“Excuse you?”
“I do know shit, just not math.”
“No, since when do you know sign language?!” Katsuki growled out, dumbly staring right at Kirishima.
“Oh, I was learning it to be able to talk to you when you aren’t wearing your hearing aids. I wanted to… well, they probably wouldn’t–”
“Spit it out, Shitty hair.”
“Sorry– I started to teach the others too?”
“Which. Others.” Katsuki snarled, grabbing Kirishima by the shirt. Kirishinma let out a small squeal as he pulled back against Katsuki, toppling backwards against the couch with a thud.
“Just the squad. I promise I didn’t know that this would happen.”
“Great.” Izuku huffed, putting his hands in the pocket of the hoodie. “Now two people know.” He paused slightly as he watched Katsuki slowly turn to face him.
“Who else knows, Zuku.” Izuku wrung his hands together as he scanned the room, leaning slightly towards Katsuki before replying.
“Kaminari.”
“We’re fucked.” Katsuki growled, throwing himself back onto the couch. “How did he find out?”
“Kacchan, look at what I’m wearing.” Izuku said, grabbing at the oversized hoodie covering his body. “He was like ‘Why do you smell like Bakugou? Are you dating him?’ and I freaked out.” He began to ramble.
“Izuku. I’m going to stop you before you go further into your head. It’s fine, you wanted to tell everyone anyway right?”
“Not like this! I wanted to tell everyone when we were ready!”
“Ready for what?” Mina said, coming over with her math textbook and plopping down next to Katsuki on the couch. “Care to help, Blasty?”
“Deku here was complaining that he’s ready for dinner. Because the damn nerd can’t wait five more minutes I guess.” Katsuki immediately diverted his attention to Mina’s homework, trying to avoid further questions. Izuku rolled his eyes and walked over to the kitchen, sitting down at the table and pulling out his phone to keep himself entertained.
“Hello Midoriya.” A voice said from beside him.
“Hi Todoroki-Kun. How was your break?” Izuku asked, setting his phone down.
“My break was fine. My old man left me alone for once.” Todoroki’s attention slowly moved towards Izuku’s phone. “How was yours?” Izuku, not noticing the lack of eye contact, smiled and began to talk about his break, and how All Might had come over for dinner one of the nights. “Was Bakugou there too?”
“Huh?” Izuku said intelligently, stopping his story quickly.
“Bakugou. Did he also come over for dinner?” Todoroki asked, pointing at Izuku’s phone. Izuku felt his eyes go wide and he scrambled for his phone, turning it off. “I knew you two were getting closer, but I didn’t realize you were that close?”
“Wha-what do you mean, Todoroki?” Izuku stuttered.
“Well, your home screen looks like a relatively recent picture, and it looked like you were practically sitting in his lap.” (Izuku was, but Todoroki didn’t need to know that. He was also glad Todoroki hadn’t noticed they both were lacking clothes, he really didn’t want to have that talk.)
“Oh! Yeah, we were… training? With All Might?”
“I see. So… what kind of training leads to the hickeys on your neck?” Todoroki asked, pulling the collar of the hoodie down Izuku’s neck.
“Todoroki!” Izuku whisper-yelled, swatting his hand away. “You cannot just say that out loud.”
“Sorry, I was just curious.” Todoroki said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Sero has been a bad influence on you.” Izuku whined, pulling the hoodie up around his neck.
“I don’t believe that to be the case. He just makes things more fun.”
“Yeah well when you two finally end up together, I’ll be here to say I told you so.”
“You never denied that they were hickeys. Am I to assume that I’m correct?”
“No… They’re just… bruises.” Izuku offered, lamely. He cringed as his voice cracked, and Todoroki smirked.
“Unlock your phone again Midoriya.” Izuku violently shook his head no, pulling his phone to his chest. “Come on, I want to show you something.” Todoroki pulled his phone out and unlocked it, pushing it in front of Izuku slowly. “Prepare your ‘I told you so.’”
Izuku’s eyes slowly drifted down to the phone in front of him, staring at the picture loaded up. It looked almost scarily like the picture he was hiding, with Sero and Todoroki together clearly in Sero’s dorm room. He began to giggle, looking up at Todoroki with amusement written all over his face. “Oh, I see.” His smile grew before he began to actually laugh. Todoroki smiled as well, pulling his phone back over to him and locking it. “I told you so.”
“He confessed a month ago. That picture was taken the night before our break. Now, let me see the picture.”
“Fine,” Izuku sighed. He unlocked his phone, setting it down in front of Todoroki with a huff. “Please don’t comment on my room, I know it’s even more obsessive than my dorm.”
“I was just going to say I’ve never seen Bakugou so relaxed.”
“Yeah, well, I know a couple good ways to get him to calm down, hence the hickeys.” Izuku laughed, and Todoroki smiled. “You know he’s always on edge because of his quirk, right? It makes his heart race and that makes him anxious and angry. He doesn’t really want to be that way, he just is. You learn to see past it.”
“You two have known each other your whole lives, right?” Todoroki asked, picking the phone up and inspecting the picture. “Because that looks like a picture of you two as children…kissing.” He said, pointing at a picture sitting on Izuku’s nightstand, a picture taken at three years old after watching a movie where the grown ups had kissed only once, and Katsuki had decided he needed to try it. Unfortunately, Mitsuki had been right there with her phone, and upon sending the picture to Inko, they both instantly decided their next step was to plan the future wedding during naptime. “How long have you been together?”
“Years. When our parents decided we could actually date at 12 we had already technically been together for a year or two. I know that’s young, but we just kinda knew.”
“And when was the first time you…” Todoroki trailed off, gesturing to the phone.
“We were 14.” Todoroki’s head shot up, and Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. “ I know. We got left alone one night while our parents went out for a movie and we were bored. It was my fault. I told Kacchan I wanted to change into my pajamas and he followed me into my room, things kinda just went from there.”
“And your parents were ok with that?”
“Oh, they don’t know it happened that early. They think it started this past year. But little secrets are ok sometimes, Todoroki. You don’t have to tell him if you don’t want to.”
“He’s going to find out anyway though, won’t he? The damn old man seems to know exactly what I'm doing and when. He actually called me–”
“Deku.” Katsuki said, standing behind the two. “What happened to ‘I don’t want to tell everyone?’”
“He saw my phone, Kacchan. What was I supposed to say? I tried to play it off but he’s not stupid.”
“Debatable.” Katsuki smirked, staring Todoroki down. “Don’t say shit, you got that half-n-half?”
“I would never.” Todoroki said, slightly offended. “I do have a question, however.”
“Ok, what is it? Don’t waste my time.” Katsuki grumbled.
“Why do you bully Midoriya? If you want to be his boyfriend, why do you harass him?” Todoroki asked, and Katsuki sighed, pulling a chair out and sitting down.
“When Izuku was little, he was bullied. I’m not going to tell you why, but he was. I tried to stand up for him, but it made people pick on him more. So, I told him that we would strike a deal. I would pretend to bully him to keep people away from him, and he wouldn’t give up on his hopes of being a hero. It just became part of our everyday life, and it can be hard to break a habit. I need an outlet for my anger, and I mean nothing that I say to him. I’m never intentionally mean to him when we’re alone.”
“I saw that.”
“Oi. watch it. You weren’t supposed to see that picture.”
“I’m sorry Kacchan. I just really liked the picture, and without my mom around to go through my phone I figured it was safe.”
“Three people in an hour, Izuku. Three.” Katsuki said, staring in exasperation.
“I know, I’m sorry.”
“Might as well just tell everyone, you know you want to.”
“But do you want that?” Izuku asked, and Katsuki shrugged.
“I want you to be happy. If you want people to know, then tell them. If you don’t, then don’t. I’ll be fine with whatever you choose.”
A few days passed, and Izuku began to forget about the fact that people were beginning to find out. He began to relax back into old habits, allowing him to slip back into routine with no thought behind his actions.
You see, class 1-A had mandatory training sessions Wednesday mornings in the school gym. It was nothing new for the friend groups of students to wander off together and work out, nor was it new for everyone to be laughing and joking with each other while they warmed up.
“Hey Bakugou!”
Izuku fought the urge to look up and see what Kaminari was doing.
“What, dunce face? I’m kinda busy here.”
“Kirishima said that you might be able to bench press me, I wanted to see if that was true.”
“...A chance to toss you around like a ragdoll? Hell yeah, get over here.” Kaminari wandered over to where Katsuki was standing and waited for him to get situated on the bench before leaning over and allowing Katsuki to get ahold of him. Izuku watched as Katsuki adjusted his grasp before lowering Kaminari down and heaving him back up. “...do you weigh anything?”
“Ok, rude sir.” Kaminari pouted. And Katsuki laughed before repeating the actions.
“Wish that was you?”
Izuku squealed and reeled around to come face to face with Uraraka. She smirked, noticing the blush across his cheeks as he covered his face with his hands.
“N-no…”
“You’re a shit liar, Deku-kun. You were practically drooling.”
“Was not.”
“If those cartoon heart eyes were real, you would have been doing that. Do you, maybe, possibly, have a crush on Bakugou?”
“Shhhhhhhh! Don’t just ask that out loud with people around! What if–”
“What if people heard you? Ooh, how scandalous!”
Izuku glared off into the distance. “Thank you, Sero. For proving my point.”
“No problem dude.” Sero laughed, patting Izuku on the back.
A strangled whine came out of Izuku’s mouth as he turned back to Uraraka. “Sorry.” She giggled, and Izuku went back to stretching. “Seriously though, do you have a thing for Bakugou? I know you two have your… interesting past. But is that because of sexual tension?”
“Uraraka!”
“I’m curious too.” Todoroki smirked, and Izuku groaned.
“You Judas.”
“...What does Todoroki-kun know that I don’t?” Uraraka pouted, and Izuku sighed. “I thought we were your best friends, Deku-kun. How sad that you don’t even–”
“I do trust you guys. But I–”
“Hey Deku! Get your ass over here for a second.”
“Coming Kacchan!” Izuku scrambled to his feet and rushed over to where Katsuki stood, breathing heavily.
“I think,” Katsuki said, smirking, “You couldn’t bench press me.”
“Kacchan, you realize I can, right? I could lift All Might while he was in hero form very easily.”
“Yeah right, I won’t believe you until you–” Suddenly, Izuku bent over and grabbed Katsuki, lifting him up and holding him bridal style without any effort on his part. Katsuki glared up at Izuku. “This is not what I meant, nerd. I know you can do this. I’ve watched you pick up a fridge.”
“But you’re so cute all angry in my arms like this.” Izuku laughed, and Kirishima rolled his eyes.
“You guys aren’t being subtle.”
“Do you see anyone questioning this?” Katsuki asked, and Kirishima scanned the room.
“I think Uraraka is catching on. And Todoroki definitely knows.”
“Todoroki does know. And Uraraka was asking if I had a crush on Kacchan.”
“I knew it! I knew something was going on!” Mina exclaimed, pointing her finger at the two boys.
“Are ya goin’ to put me down, Deku?”
“Right, sorry.” Izuku said, setting Katsuki’s feet back on the floor and helping him to stabilize before pulling away from him.
“I don’t know what you mean, Ashido.”
“Oh please. Eijiro. What are they hiding?”
“N-nothing!”
“See, he’s a bad liar. I know something is going on and I’ll–”
“They’re totally dating.” Uraraka interrupted, from seemingly nowhere. Izuku jumped.
“Where would you get that idea?” Katuski asked, his hand on his hip in annoyance. “Like I would ever date a nerd like him.”
“Because you were blushing the entire time he was holding you, you idiot.”
“...Was I?”
“You were.”
“Oh well.”
“Kacchan!” Izuku exclaimed, exasperated. “I thought we weren’t telling people.”
“I KNEW IT!” Uraraka cried out, causing half the class to turn to the group in concern.
Izuku shoved his hand to her mouth, silencing her from any further outbursts. Todoroki wandered over, followed by Kaminari, as the meeting of ‘those who knew’ commenced.
“I thought you two weren't telling people.” Todoroki said, looking between the two in question.
“Yeah, Midoriya made a big deal about me not saying anything, but it seems that the class is starting to find out.”
“In other news, your hickeys are starting to fade.”
“Todoroki! Ok, I’m done here.” Izuku whined, ducking his head and hiding behind his hands. “Kacchan, If you don’t mind I think we should tell people.”
“Oh, I mind. I think we should let them figure it out. Act as obviously as possible and see who the slowest person to catch on is.”
“...That could be funny.”
“I know, I’m hilarious. Oh, and Izuku?” The group around them gasped at the usage of Izuku’s given name. Katsuki rolled his eyes. “I think that it’s pretty hot that you can manhandle me. You should do it more often.”
Izuku went red, hiding behind his hands again and walking away quickly, listening to Katsuki laugh evilly from where the group stood.
Later that night, Katsuki had dinner duty. Everyone knew not to even be in the kitchen when Katsuki cooked, as it was not something he willingly allowed people to participate in.
Izuku sat on the couch in the common room with his textbook, Trying to pay attention to Iida’s math homework lecture.
“Hey Zuku.” Katsuki yelled from the kitchen, and Izuku turned to face him. “I need some help, get in here.”
A gasp sounded from somewhere inside the common room before all eyes were on Izuku, who quietly stood up, set his textbook down, and wandered into the kitchen.
“Zuku? Help in the kitchen? I’m sorry, did we just meet some alternate dimension Bakugou?” Ojiro mumbled from his spot on the floor.
Izuku laughed quietly to himself as he walked up to Bakugou, who leaned over and kissed him on the side of the head. “I’m so not used to you being affectionate anywhere except for in our rooms.”
“Get used to it, baby. I’m going to be so disgustingly affectionate with you that everyone is going to hate us.”
Izuku blushed, shuffling his foot around. “What did you need my help with?”
“I need you to make the rice cause I'm trying to fry the pork.”
“...Are you making me katsudon?”
“Maybe.” Katsuki laughed, leaning over and actually kissing Izuku. A very loud gasp came from the common room, and suddenly everyone was looking in their direction. However, Katsuki had quickly pulled away and went back to coating the pork before dropping it in the oil. “Gaslight, gatekeep.” He mumbled with a smirk on his face.
“You’re so evil.” Izuku laughed, grabbing the rice out and walking over to the cooker, starting to help out. The common room was in an uproar, everyone talking amongst themselves and occasionally looking over at the kitchen.
The group started to focus on their own things again after a little while, and Izuku no longer felt eighteen pairs of eyes watching him at all times.
“So,” A voice came from behind them, and Izuku turned around to find a smirking Shinsou. “How long?”
“Six years.” Izuku and Katsuki said at the same time, and Izuku turned to Shinsou just in time to see his jaw drop.
“Six… I owe Denki so much money.” He groaned, and Izuku laughed.
“Yeah, Kaminari did say that you owed him some money.”
“Wait, Denki already knew?! Oh I’m going to… also, Bakugou, bench press your own boyfriend next time. Leave mine alone.”
“Your idiot weighs like five pounds, and he asked. What was I supposed to say? ‘No, go ask mindfuck to do it?’”
“...yes. Also, it’s not his fault he’s little. It just makes him cuter.”
“Gross.” Katsuki said, turning to face Shinsou after sticking the last piece of pork in the fryer. He wrapped his arm around Izuku’s waist, pulling him closer.
“Gross.” Shinsou mocked, before turning to Izuku. “I gotta ask, how often do you two sneak into each other's rooms and none of us know it?”
“Now you listen here little Aizawa mini-me, You ain’t getting the answer to that. You’ll just end up reporting it to him and then we’ll be put under strict supervision. My parents already make me keep the door open when we’re at my house, I don’t want that here.”
“My mom doesn’t care as long as I'm honest with her about things. Which, to be fair, isn’t always the case, but I try my best to not lie to her.” Izuku said, leaning into Katsuki’s hold.
“So you two have gotten caught before then, huh?” Shinsou smirked, and Izuku turned red.
“That’s what I thought. I won’t say anything to the old man, don’t worry. I don’t want him to realize that I do the same thing.”
The rice cooker sounded off, signaling that it was done. Katsuki turned back around and pulled the piece of pork out of the oil, placing it with all the others. He grabbed the eggs out of the fridge, starting on that portion of the meal. “Get lost, mind fuck. Dinner is almost ready.”
“Yes sir.” He said, saluting Katsuki sarcastically. Shinsou wandered back over to the group on the couches and sat back down, Kaminari immediately leaning into him.
“I can’t wait to gross people out like that.” Katsuki laughed, and Izuku rolled his eyes.
“You know people are going to be obsessed with us for a while, right?”
Katsuki shrugged at Izuku’s words, cooking the eggs and pointing at the rice cooker. “Start putting rice in bowls, nerd. Chop chop.”
As soon as dinner was ready, Katsuki handed a bowl to Izuku and grabbed one for himself, walking over to the table.
“Hey guys, dinner’s ready!” Izuku said over the noise, and suddenly everyone was on their feet and running to the kitchen. Various cries of happiness were heard as people ran over to the table, slamming themselves into chairs and quickly yelling itadakimasu before stuffing their faces.
Katsuki reached over and set his hand down on Izuku’s leg, patting it to get his attention. “Thank you for the help. I appreciate it.”
“Awwww, that was cute.” Uraraka said, smirking at the two of them before sticking her chopsticks back into her bowl.
“Shut up Kirby.” Katsuki said, a slight smile on his face. Uraraka smiled back, kicking Katsuki’s feet under the table.
“An unlikely alliance.” Izuku said, scooting closer to Katsuki as he began to eat. “Best friend and boyfriend.”
“I knew it.” Sero laughed. “You two were so obvious earlier.”
“Go drool over half n half or something more productive, elbows.”
“Hey, what do you know?”
“I’ve seen…pictures.” Izuku said, slyly, making Sero freeze up and stutter out a ‘bye’ as he retreated.
“Pictures, eh?”
“Todoroki saw my home screen, remember? He showed me his home screen as well. It was practically the same picture.”
“Oof.” Katsuki said, shaking his head. Izuku laughed, and Uraraka, whom they had both forgotten about, suddenly spoke up.
“Is like, ninety percent of our class gay or something? It seems like only me and Tenya and then Hagakure and Ojiro are the only fully straight couples in this place.”
“Ew, straight people.” Katsuki smirked, creating a cross with his fingers and sticking them out in front of him to ward her off. Uraraka giggled, shaking her head.
“Hey everyone, Bakugou just admitted he’s gay.” Uraraka yelled, and everyone started laughing.
“Like they didn’t already know.”
“It was pretty obvious, from day one.”
“Day one of his life, probably.” Kaminari laughed, and Katsuki turned to Izuku.
“I was two months old when you were born, right?”
“Yup.” Izuku nodded, stuffing his face.
“Then it was obvious from that point on.” Shinso snorted from across the table, and Kaminari began to giggle.
“Way to be subtle.”
The next morning, the common room was the center of hustle and bustle as the class scrambled to get ready for classes. Katsuki wandered into the common room, still in his pj’s, which included the hoodie Izuku had been wearing a few days prior.
“Hey, isn’t that Midoriya’s hoodie?” Ojiro asked, stuffing his face with cereal.
“Uh, no, it’s mine.”
“But I’ve seen him wear it. And I know it’s that one because of the logo on the back there.”
“Like I said, It’s my hoodie.”
“Are you saying that Midoriya steals and wears that hoodie all the time?”
Katsuki smirked. “See ya later, oversized kangaroo.” He walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge, looking around for food.
Izuku, who had been standing in the kitchen the whole time, watched Ojiro turn to face him.
“Excuse me Kacchan, we have shared custody of that hoodie.”
“Yeah yeah, shut up and get ready for school.” Katsuki said, hip checking him and causing Izuku to smack into the counter.
“Rude Kacchan.” Izuku said, rubbing his lower back and hip where he had been smacked, and Katsuki smiled at him.
“Want me to kiss it better?”
“Yeah, I do.” Izuku pouted, looking up at Katsuki. Katsuki rolled his eyes, pinning Izuku to the counter and dipping his head down to press a kiss to Izuku’s lips. Ojiro dropped his spoon back into the bowl of cereal.
“I knew it!”
“You saw nothing, alright?” Katsuki said, pointing directly at him. Ojiro turned to see if anyone else in the common room had seen the exchange, but Kirishima, who was at the table with him, looked busy on his phone, and everyone on the couches doing last minute homework seemed to be preoccupied.
The students all wandered into the classroom and over to their seats, Katsuki dragging Izuku by the hand over to their side of the room. No one said anything, but Izuku could feel all eyes on them. He allowed himself to be pushed down into his seat, and Katsuki sat down in front of him.
“Kacchan, why?”
“Why not? I get to touch you now and people can’t do shit.”
“I swear Kacchan, so clingy.”
“Says the person who cries if I get up too quick after we–”
“OK! Thank you! Don’t need to hear any more than that!” Shinsou exclaimed, scandalized. He quickly sat down in his seat behind Izuku and stuck his head down on the desk.
Izuku stifled a laugh. He reached back, patting Shinsou on the shoulder. “I’m sorry about his behavior.” Shinsou let out a groan in response, and Izuku turned back to Katsuki. “You’re killing our classmates. What a jerk.”
“Oh, I’m the jerk, huh?” Katsuki said, twisting in his seat, facing Izuku. He scooted his desk back until the chair was touching Izuku’s desk, and then leaned into Izuku’s space. “If I’m the jerk, then why didn’t you kiss me good morning when you saw me earlier, hm?”
“Because you kissed me!”
“That was an apology for hurting you. Not a good morning kiss.”
Izuku sighed, leaning up on his elbows and pressing his lips to Katsuki’s, kissing him for a few seconds before sitting back down. “Good morning Kacchan.”
“That’s better.” Katsuki smirked, and a camera flashed from somewhere beside them. Katsuki whipped around to find the source, but when he couldn’t find anyone, he gave up.
“Delete that, Hagakure. Deku-kun wants his privacy respected.”
“But look how cute they are!”
“Toru. Delete it. You know how you’d feel if it was us.” Ojiro said, walking in and setting his stuff down. Hagakure sighed, turning back to Izuku and Katsuki and bowing slightly.
“Sorry, it won’t happen again.”
“It better not.” Katsuki growled, and she scurried away. At that moment, Mr. Aizawa decided to walk in, coming face to face with the chaos of his students.
“All of you sit down right now. Bakugou, move your desk back up. Hitoshi, wake up. Test time.” Everyone groaned in unison. “Oh hush, this is a test on the safety protocols we went over yesterday in training. You’ll all do just fine.”
The rest of the school day followed in similar fashion. Towards the afternoon training session, Izuku began to get restless. He realized that now part of the class knew, one way or another. It wasn’t like Izuku had a problem with them knowing, but it had been a secret for so long that it almost felt wrong for people to know. He started fidgeting, shaking his leg at the lunch table. Katsuki, who was sitting across from him, held his hand out and motioned for Izuku to grab it. As he did, a couple other members of the class came over and sat down, crowding around and laughing with each other as they spoke. The peace helped to relax Izuku slightly, and he smiled at Katsuki.
“You two are awfully close these days.” Jiro smirked, sitting down beside Katsuki, placing her food down gently on the table.
“We’ve always been this close, you extras just haven’t had your eyes open.”
“So you're saying that you started dating before high school? Good to know.”
Yaoyorozu came and sat down beside Jiro, her meal looking like some five star restaurant made it. Izuku was vaguely jealous until he realized he needed to be present in the conversation.
“Kyoka, are you harassing them?”
“Not harassing, per se, just trying to figure out when they decided to start keeping secrets.”
“It’s not exactly a secret? At least not in our families. They’ve known since we were like toddlers.” Izuku said, looking down at their connected hands.
“Toddlers?” The girls repeated in unison.
“Yeah, we’ve known each other literally all of our lives. Our parents were college friends and so I was at the hospital the day Zuku was born to see him. I was like two months old, like I said last night at dinner.”
“Oh, you were being serious. I thought you were making a joke about your sexuality.”
“I was, but I was telling the truth. So, here’s the deal, girls. We want to see who the slowest person to catch on is. I have a feeling it’ll be our dear ol’ class prez. So let’s keep this quiet, alright?”
“Ok, but I gotta know boys,” Jiro laughed, looking between the two. “I heard Todoroki mention something about Midoriya having hickeys all over him the other day in training. What’s up with that?”
“You have a girlfriend, correct? And you love her?”
“Well, yeah?” Jiro said, looking at Yaoyorozu in confusion, and she shrugged.
“What do you two do when you’re alone together and bored then, hm?” Katsuki asked, and Jiro’s face turned red. “Exactly. So there’s your answer.”
“Ok, message received. Sorry.”
“Well, this has been enlightening.” Yaoyorozu says, turning to her food and beginning to eat.
“You don’t think daddy issues deluxe and tape face don’t get up to this shit too? You need to reevaluate your friends, princess.”
“Look, I– Daddy issues deluxe? Really?”
“Tell me I’m wrong.”
“You’re so mean to Todoroki-kun, Kacchan. That was supposed to be a secret.”
“Yeah, yeah. You want me to get even more in depth with your friends' love lives? What about mind fuck, hm? I know he’s your neighbor. I’m sure you’ve heard a thing or two.”
“What Shinsou and Kaminari do is not my business.”
“Ok, well, now that I know that you two seem to know the latest gossip about every couple in our class, I’ll be sure to put in that request for a soundproof room next semester.”
“Kacchan likes to observe people, and so he knows things. Don’t think too hard about it, it’s really not as bad as you might believe.”
“You guys know Aizawa is married, right?”
“What.”
The next few days went by with very little to note. Izuku made a list of everyone that seemed to have caught on, and it seemed to be about half of the class. Izuku sighed as he sat in his dorm room doing homework alone. “Open up nerd” Izuku jumped up and flung the door open, immediately throwing himself in Katsuki’s arms. Katsuki leaned down and picked Izuku up, allowing him to wrap his legs around his waist as he stumbled into the room, letting the door slam closed behind them. “We haven’t had any time alone together recently, I missed you.”
Izuku smiled and buried his face deeper into Katsuki’s neck, tightening his arms around his shoulders. “I love you Kacchan.” He mumbled, and Katsuki let out a small laugh.
“I love you too baby. So much.” Katsuki walked over to the bed and sat down, making sure he still had a hold of Izuku before kicking his feet up on the bed and laying down. As they cuddled into each other, Katsuki felt Izuku start to fall asleep. So, like the good boyfriend he strived to be, he let him sleep, slowly drifting off himself.
After a few hours, Katsuki woke up. He set his hand on Izuku’s cheek, rubbing his thumb across his cheek bone, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. At that, Izuku started to stir, snuggling closer to Katsuki. “Kacchan is so warm.”
“Yeah, I know.” Katsuki smiled, allowing the hand on Izuku’s face to slide down his body, rubbing his side to wake him up a little more. Suddenly Izuku’s stomach growled, and Katsuki held in a laugh. “Are you hungry?”
“Yeah…” Izuku mumbled, and Katsuki sat up a little.
“Let’s go get some dinner then, yeah?”
“Ok.” Izuku said, sitting up and sleepily rubbing at his face. Katsuki crawled off the bed from behind him and held out his hand for Izuku to take. As he grabbed his hand, Katsuki pulled his boyfriend into a hug.
“Come on, let's go.” Katsuki led them out of the room and down the hall to the stairs, where he carefully guided a still half asleep Izuku down them. As they got into the common room, Izuku was clinging to Katsuki’s arm completely, slightly falling back asleep.
What Izuku wasn’t aware of was the group on the couch watching their every move. He wandered into the kitchen still attached to Katsuki, who then picked him up and sat him on the counter while he got food out for them to eat.
As Katsuki prepared the food, Izuku woke up a little bit and began to gently swing his legs. “Kacchan?”
“Hmm?”
“Kiss?” Izuku asked, still blissfully unaware of the group in the common room. Katsuki set the knife down, and walked over to Izuku, pushing his way between his legs, allowing them to wrap around his waist again, as Izuku’s arms came to rest on his shoulders. Izuku clasped his hands together, pulling Katsuki closer. Then suddenly he was being kissed, and Izuku tried his hardest not to smile. He pulled Katsuki as close as possible, deepening the kiss a little.
After a minute or so, a throat cleared from behind them, and Izuku instinctively shoved Katsuki backwards.
“What the hell Izuku?”
“I’m so sorry! I got scared!” Izuku exclaimed apologetically, and whipped around to see who was standing there, almost falling off the counter. There stood Tokoyami and Shoji, with Tsu, Koda and Sato still sitting on the couch in the main room.
“I’m sorry, were we interrupting something?” Shoji said, a smirk evident in his tone.
“I think we all need bleach for our brains now.” Tokoyami added, Dark Shadow nodding along.
“I’m so, so sorry.” Izuku said, sliding off the counter and turning towards them properly. “I didn’t realize there were people down here, I was still half asleep.”
“You’re forgiven, but that was one hell of a way to learn about you two being together.” Shoji said, laughing a little.
“You know what this means, Zuku?”
“No, what?”
“Fruit ninja is the only one who doesn’t know now. Time to fuck with him.”
“Oh no, what are you scheming?”
“Hey, do you guys think you could pretend like you don’t see us being affectionate with each other for the next few days?”
The next morning, Katsuki woke up Izuku extra early and they went to everyone's rooms, asking them the same question. When Izuku realized everyone was agreeing, he felt the hilarity of the situation set in. The entire class was about to prank Iida.
Izuku quickly got ready for school and met Katsuki in the common room before they walked to the school building getting there first before any of their classmates. “Mr. Aizawa?”
“Yes, problem children?”
“We have a bit of a… situation. As you might have figured out, Izuku and I have been together for quite a few years now.”
“Yes, I put two and two together. What do you need?”
“Well,” Izuku started, “We want to pull a bit of a prank on Iida.”
Aizawa raised an eyebrow. “And this involves me… how?”
“We need your permission to be grossly affectionate with each other during school today.” Izuku said in a hurry. Mr. Aizawa stared at them incredulously for a few seconds before chuckling to himself.
“Go for it. I can’t wait.”
“Thank you sir.” Izuku said, and he pulled a laughing Katsuki out of the room.
They quickly found a place to sit until before classes started. As they wandered back into the room, being the first people to get there once again, Izuku sat down at his desk. He pulled out his belongings like he would any other day, watching as some of his classmates trickled in. Katsuki came to the side of him, kneeling down and smiling up at him. “Hey.”
“Hey your own self.” Izuku laughed, leaning down and pressing a kiss to his lips. Katsuki followed him up, chasing the kiss. He kissed Katsuki again, listening for the telltale sign Iida had entered the room. When he heard a bag drop to the floor in shock, Izuku pulled away, pressing his forehead to Katsuki’s. He felt a small giggle fight its way up, and he let part of it out. “I love you.”
“I love you too baby.”
“What the…”
“Everyone sit down. It’s class time.”
Katsuki stood up and returned to his seat, and Iida still stood there in the doorway, bag on the floor.
“Iida, sit.” Mr. Aizawa said, and Iida seemed to snap back to reality. He quickly scrambled to his seat and sat down, his head in his hands in disbelief.
The next few classes went on and the bell rang for lunch. Izuku jumped up, grabbing Katsuki’s hand and pulling him up. He wrapped his arms around him, and smiled up at Katsuki, pulling him down by the collar into a kiss.
“Is no one else seeing this?” Iida exclaimed, and the class looked at him in confusion.
“See what, dude?” Kirishima asked, and Iida sighed in disbelief.
“I am not the only one seeing this. Someone has to– Mr. Aizawa, do you see this?”
“See what?”
Iida let out a strangled screech before turning on his heel and walking out of the room.
Everyone burst into laughter.
The two boys walked to the lunchroom, grabbing food and heading over to a table to sit. As they sat down, Iida wandered over, looking at them skeptically. “So uh, how long has this been going on?”
“How long has what been going on?” Izuku asked, a small smirk on his face.
“How long have you two been together?”
“Honey, are you harassing Deku-kun?” Uraraka asked, walking up beside him and grabbing his arm, and Iida looked torn.
“Ochako, you know there’s something going on here, right?”
“What do you mean?”
Iida let out another frustrated growl as she answered. Izuku lost it.
“I-I’m sorry, Iida-kun, I’m sorry Kacchan, I can’t do this!” He laughed, holding his stomach, rocking back in his seat. Katsuki looked up with a smirk on his face. He reached his hand out for Izuku to take, and Izuku grabbed it, squeezing a few times. “I love you Kacchan.”
“I love you too, Izuku.” He said, smiling at his boyfriend.
“Sorry I couldn’t do it.”
“It’s ok, his reaction was pretty good regardless. Sorry for screwing with your boyfriend, pink cheeks.”
“It’s fine, it was funny. But you two are horrible at secret relationships.”
That evening, as everyone sat in the common room, Izuku fell into Katsuki’s hold on the couch, snuggling into him. He smiled as he leaned his head on Katsuki’s chest, happy and content with the fact that he could finally be with his boyfriend in a public setting.
“You two are grossly affectionate.” Sero said, laughing.
Katsuki, taking that as a challenge, sat up a bit. “Hey everyone, Sero and Todoroki are dating too.”
“What the hell Bakugou?” Todoroki yelled from the kitchen, and Sero looked around nervously.
“Shouto… run.”
Izuku began to laugh as the two boys ran out of the common room.
