Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

"What in Tartarus kinda hell is this?" A boy with jet black hair and sea green eyes sputtered out.

Percy was currently taking a shower and had been lathering up when he had noticed something new had appeared on his left shoulder..a tattoo.

A tattoo that had not been there yesterday..a spartan helmet with two swords crossing through each other underneath a leafy laurel circling around both.

He shut off the shower and threw on his camp uniform before making his way to where Chiron, Clarisse and Mr. D sat talking over a card game.

If anyone had seen something like this happen before it was Chiron.

Percy looked between them nervously then says..

"Chiron..have you ever heard of a tattoo or mark appearing on someone's skin on its own? Without someone putting it there?"

Chiron looks over curiously

"May I see it?" Chiron asked

Percy eyes Clarisse but pulled back his shirt sleeve to reveal the tattoo.

"I have no idea where it came, it just kind of appeared out of thin air.." Percy stammered as Chiron, Diyonsus and Clarisse all inspect it.

",Yup just as I suspected when you mentioned a strange tattoo...in ancient mythology when the big twelve first appeared, the fates assigned a special soul mate for all of the gods..For Zeus the soulmate was Hera, for Hades Persephone, for your father..Amphitrite. Only the goddesses, Hestia, Artemis and Athena were left out of it."

"But what does that have to do with this Chiron, I'm not understanding.." Percy stammered

"Some of the gods.. we're given mortal Soul mates who get reborn every so often.. unfortunately the gods also do not get to choose who this sould mate is the Fates do. And when these mates appear in the world the only way to identify them is on the day the mortal becomes of age in the mortal world, on that day a tattoo appears somewhere upon their bodies..the symbols in the tattoo are usually symbols that tell you which God your soul mate is..Today is your birthday is it not?" Chiron asked

Percy swallowed but nods "Yes sir, I turned eighteen today."

"You're of age then. Which explains why this appeared. The fates have spoken..You are the intended mortal mate for one of the gods." Chiron told him.

Percy looked down at his shoulder and felt himself go pale as he put two and two together..

"Please tell me its not Him..." Percy stammered his face white as a ghost.

"I think you've already guessed it, the tattoo you bear is the Mark Of Ares."

Percy started hyperventilating..

"Well great..not only did the fates choose me as a god's new mate...but they choose to assign me to the one god that's Hated me for years..well great when Ares finds out.. I'm most likely dead.."

Chiron tries to pat him on the back.

"It's not as you think Percy, once that mark appears, when the god finds you it is near impossible for them to harm you, or even to want to be away from you. You'll basically become the most prized person in their life." Chiron told him

"Right, trust me no mark will ever make Ares want me..for anything other then dead. He'll never feel anything but hate for me. Truth is..what I've never told anyone.. not even my best friends..is I've secretly been in love with him since the day..he first walked into that diner when I was but Thirteen years old. I told myself I was stupid..That he was a god that I was an idiot..so ..I started trying to start fights with Ares..just so he would never find out how badly I desires him. I guess even back then some part of me must have known what I did not..and now the hatred he has for me is irresponsible.." Percy says sadly

Just then in that moment there was a very loud pop, a cloud of smoke and Percy turned to find a guy with a Crew cut, Black jeans, white Tshirt a bikers jacket and black shades standing there sword pointed under Percy's chin.

Percy's sleeve had fallen back over his shoulder covering the mark.

"Still Not so fast now are we punk?" Ares asked cruelly

Percy swallowed nervously as he tries to step back.

"Dad. Why are you here?" Clarisse inquired.

Ares perused his daughter a moment then says..

"I felt..I felt my mark appear..the mark of my mortal mate..they are in this camp..now who has it..who is wearing my mark?" Ares demands.

Percy noticed a soft look on his face as he scanned the camp looking for who ever the fates had given him as if determined to love them.

Percy suddenly found the floor interesting then anything else.. why? Why did the Fates have to be so cruel? Why couldn't they have assigned him to Apollo if they had to pick him for a god? He'd have even been happy with Hermes but why? Why did he have to be assigned to the god that hated him? That could never love Percy as he did him?

Tears prick his eyes as he manged to pull away from Ares.

Before anyone spoke Percy tore his sleeve off to reveal the tattoo, pierced Ares with tear filled sea green eyes then did the very cowardly thing.

He ran.

He ran all the way to his cabin and locked himself inside before sinking onto the floor and buried his head in his hand.

He wanted so badly to break but instead..he promptly passed out onto the floor.

The shock having become way to much for his brain to handle.

The last thing Percy heard was the door to his cabin being blasted off it's hinges, a loud curse and then felt an arm lift him to their chest, the arms gentle and warm, fingers touching his left arm as he finally blacked out.
