Work Text:
It was fairly early in the evening for Nanami, he had finally gotten proper time off from work, which was
much
needed for him. Work has been absolute hell as of late, and all he wants now is to get home and relax, maybe get some food. Take a nap, watch a movie, anything really.
For once he wasn’t even sure, maybe he
could
simply pass out for the rest of the day, there was a lot he wanted to do. Nanami wasn’t really in the mood to go anywhere at the moment, so he figured he’d do something at home, like make some food for himself. Something…simple.
‘Hmmm…pizza sounds good,’
he thought to himself, at this hour though? Seems kind of ridiculous, but that didn’t matter.
Plus, homemade food is always better, at least he thought so when
he
made it. It was a nice hobby of his, people have told him he has a real talent for cooking. Questioning why he doesn’t simply go work to be a chef, rather than continue life as a sorcerer.
But nonetheless he got to work, he had bought ingredients for it a few days ago, but didn’t have enough time in the day for it. So now’s a better time than ever, and he was in the mood for it, so why not.
Pizza is a pretty boring food though, you gotta add toppings to really make it unique, though he kept it pretty standard. Just cheese, mushrooms and ham.
As basic as it gets, for Nanami at least.
As he let his food bake, he opted to sit down and read for a while, Nanami has such a large collection of books he hasn’t had time to get into.
Which was the result of going out shopping, always stopping by the book store, if he sees one he finds interesting. He'll buy it, and proceed to do nothing with it as it collects dust, of course he just never has the time to get around to it. Why does he keep up this habit anyway despite this? Well…
Nanami often daydreams about moving away somewhere, far, far away from all the nonsense of the Jujutsu world. And then he’ll have all the time in the world to do whatever he wants as he pleases, alas, those are but dreams.
Dreams that Nanami is never sure he'll ever be able to fulfill, he's got a lot of responsibilities, and as much as he wants to leave the sorcery life behind. He cares too much about the people he surrounds himself with, it's a constant back-and-forth with him.
Nanami’s glad he left a timer, he’s been so enveloped in his reading there's a good chance he would've forgotten, 15 minutes can really feel like an hour to him at times. So he gets up from the couch and to the kitchen, throwing on his oven mitts and sliding the metal tray out from the oven and setting it atop the counter, cutting the 6’’ pizza into 4 slices.
Nanami then decided to find something to watch as he ate, choosing whatever film he had in his library, Nanami was someone who definitely preferred watching television while eating. Leaning back into the couch cushions, he switched on the first thing he saw and started indulging himself.
Ten minutes go by, then twenty, then thirty. Nanami wanted to finish his movie, but he instead chose to take his plate over to the dishes to clean it, along with the original pan it was on before.
Nanami rolls his sleeves up, and gets to work cleaning his mess. There's a few more dishes left in the sink as well from yesterday that he didn’t bother to clean after being so exhausted that night.
While Nanami is occupied with his chores, he doesn’t even have time to notice the sound of his doorknob wiggling and turning slightly, alongside noises coming from whoevers keys are jingling in order to get it open. The door to his apartment swings open, and a certain—6 foot 3—‘worlds strongest’ sorcerer walks slowly inside.
Having to just barely crane his head under the door frame in order to squeeze inside, throwing his usual blindfold onto the TV stand and making his way to the bathroom. Eager to just hurry up and hop into the shower already, it’s been a long past few days for the both of them.
Nanami wanted to say something, but chose not to, he didn't feel the need to do so. It’s only been around 6 months since having Gojo move in with him, in that span of time Gojo really hasn’t changed one bit. On the outside, Gojo doesn’t seem like he even fits the ‘domestic’ type at all, he’s stated numerous times that he has no intention of ‘settling down.’
But that’s just another one of his bold-faced lies, Gojo doesn’t restrict himself like that because he hates it, he yearns for that lifestyle. He likes being the strongest, being a center of attention, but despite all of that. He’s still weak when it comes to love, or really any sort of grounded affection. All it does is chain him down, remind him of his flaws.
Remind him of those he failed to protect, those he had to abandon completely, for the longest time he'd always remind
himself.
That love is the most twisted curse of all…
Nanami on the other hand stays out of relationships for a different reason, unlike Gojo, he isn’t nearly as touch starved in comparison. Nanami wishes for the domestic just like he does, however he can’t bring himself to, for someone like Nanami and his job as another high ranking sorcerer being sent on dangerous missions.
The thought of having someone so close to you, someone you hold so dear, having to constantly wonder to themselves.
‘Will he be home tonight?’ ‘Is he gonna be safe out there?’
‘Did he die?...’
It doesn’t sit right with him, it makes his stomach ache, Nanami has always cared for those who can’t properly defend themselves. So the idea of potentially putting an innocent person in danger, all because of
him.
He couldn’t stand to live with himself anymore, it would take too much of a toll on him.
Nanami tries to simply push all of that deep into the back of his head, not distracting himself any more, he’s in the
present
now. And so far, nothing has happened, Gojo is gonna be fine…Nanami is gonna be fine.
And so far, he’d be lying if he said he said he wasn’t a little bit more happy living like this. Nanami can still find Gojo annoying—or obnoxious—he might’ve told people he has no respect for him. That he's flippant, egotistical.
But deep down Nanami secretly relishes in some of Gojos antics, he finds his clinginess to be, well—annoying—but in a cute way. He likes letting Gojo try whatever new recipe he finds online or in a book, and he recently took up baking just to satisfy Gojo's never-ending sweet tooth.
Gojo made the joke that maybe he’d finally start drinking alcohol just for Nanami's sake and all that he’s done for him, Nanami never once agreed to this offer, but Gojo tried…and failed.
Nanami definitely found it amusing, though, the lengths he’ll go to just to be on the same level as someone even though he doesn’t have to do so.
Gojo really cares about him, and Nanami does too, while Gojo often struggles with getting his emotions out there or acting vulnerable around people.
Nanami seemingly always knows exactly what to say to someone, knows exactly what to
do
for someone. So while Nanami might not ‘respect’ Gojo for the way he does things, Gojo practically admires Nanami for how he handles everything, he’s downright infatuated with him.
The sound of the running water coming from Nanami's shower comes to a stop, he doesn’t pay too much attention to it as usual, still scrubbing endlessly at the grease from his plates and other various silverware.
But after a while, he comes to a stop as his ears prick up at the sound of Gojo walking into the kitchen, sneaking up behind him and planting his chin firmly on Nanami’s shoulders. Snaking both his arms firmly around Nanami’s waist and clutching his shirt ever so gently.
Nanami stills, Gojo’s still drying hair starting to tickle his cheeks as his head pressed further into his neck, the overwhelming scent of his shampoo invading his nose. Gojo was definitely extra clingy today, he always has been, but if he’s had a particularly rough or unpleasant day. He wants to try and be around Nanami 24/7, like he’s his lifeline, the only thing that can still keep him grounded.
“Naaaaanamiiiiinn~” Gojo whines.
“I’m here.” Nanami lifts up a hand to ruffle Gojo's hair. “You need something?”
“Mmff…” Gojo mumbles into Nanami’s neck. “You, I need you…”
“Aren’t you romantic today.”
“Am I not
all
the time?” Gojo lifts his head up to look back at Nanami, smiling. “You know my charm is irresistible~”
“Irresistibly annoying, maybe..”
“Awwhhh..” Gojo’s head falls, pressing his hands further into Nanami's stomach. “That’s mean…”
“And you know I don’t mean that.”
“I knowwww…but.'' He lets out a laugh. “That attitude of yours though, you’re hot like that~”
“And you’re way too easy to please.”
“Guess you could say that huh?”
Before Nanami could even respond, Gojo pulls his arms off of Nanami’s abdomen, placing his palms on the edge of the countertop. Leaning up against Nanami’s back, completely slotting into every curve and arch of his body. Pressing his lips up against Nanami’s ear, kissing it.
“You’re still just as touchy as ever, too…”
“
And you're
the cutest guy I've ever met~"
"Your one liners are…impeccable."
"Well thank you." Gojo moves down to Nanami's neck, leaving small kisses across wherever he can reach. "I'm just good at everything aren't I?"
Gojo shifts his lower half to press his crotch up against Nanami’s rear, Nanami groans in response, Gojo was nearly bending Nanami over the counter at this point. Nanami's own hands were balled up into fists, glued onto the work surface as Gojo continued his assault on Nanami's throat.
"Satoru…"
"Hm?"
Nanami reaches a hand over to grab Gojo's wrist, twisting his body around and out of his grasp, Gojo stood there dumbfounded. Confused as to why Nanami was suddenly up and walking out on him like this, Nanami just stood there in front of him, fixing his shirt collar after it had been nearly torn apart.
"You can do the dishes this time if you want, I think I need a shower too."
"Wh–Eh? Hey? Nanamin!!" Gojo exclaims, reaching his arms out towards him. "What's up with you?'
"I'm fine actually, don't worry about it."
Nanami continues to ignore Gojo's moping, walking off to the bathroom, Gojo stares back at the sink. Frowning, he wasn't even sure if Nanami was joking or not, despite that. Gojo walks over to it, grabbing a plate in his hand.
"Fine, ya'know what? I will…" He remarks. "And I bet he'll be
so
happy too~"
Was he sure? He didn't know, but he'll do whatever it takes to impress him, even if it's as simple as an act of domesticity. Something Gojo was still trying to get the hang of, try as he might, he wanted at least
some
kind of a happy ending.
