Oscar hadn't been feeling great in the build up to the race weekend in Baku. On Saturday morning, he had thrown up several times. He hadn't been eating well since he had started feeling unwell. It didn't help that he was due to meet Lando and some of the drivers for breakfast. As much as he wanted to say no, he decided to meet them anyway because he would have to leave the room anyway. He could just avoid having anything to eat although word would probably get back to Kim. Then again, his physio knew that he wasn't feeling the best.
Lando was sitting in the hotel restaurant with Carlos, Max, Alex, George and Logan. Alex and George hadn't initially been invited but the two drivers had bumped into the rest of them in the hotel lounge. They had all taken up a table at the back of the restaurant before they started taking it in turns to go up for food. Alex spotted Logan coming into the restaurant and he waved him over.
Carlos frowned at one point when he realised that a certain Aussie was missing.
"Where's Oscar?"
"He's not feeling very well so he's probably running late." Replied Lando.
A few minutes later, Lando looked up to see Oscar coming into the restaurant. He frowned when he noticed how pale his boyfriend looked. He waved and managed to get Oscar's attention. Oscar slowly made his way over to the table and sat down next to Lando. He mumbled out a few words to the drivers who greeted him. Logan was giving him a look of concern from where he was sitting across from his friend.
Lando couldn't help but run a hand over Oscar's back.
"You look really pale." Murmured Lando.
"I don't feel very good."
"You'll need to see the doctor when you get to the paddock."
Oscar groaned.
"Yeah, I know."
"Are you going to get some breakfast?" Asked Lando.
Oscar screwed his face up as he looked at the food on the table.
"I'm not really hungry." Said Oscar, slowly.
"You should get something in you."
"I'll get you some toast, mate." Said Max.
The Dutchman had overheard the conversation between the couple and decided to be useful. Oscar just grunted before he folded his arms on the table and then rested his head on his arms. Lando rested a hand on the back of Oscar's neck. Logan was about to make a teasing comment but was stopped when Alex kicked his leg under the table. It was as if his teammate could read his mind. His jaw snapped shut as he carried on eating.
Max returned to the table with a plate of toast and a glass of orange juice. He placed it near Oscar's head and sat back down. Lando smiled in thanks as his friend returned to his seat. Oscar hadn't moved so Lando gently ran a hand through his hair before he leaned closer.
"Osc, your breakfast is here."
The Aussie reluctantly lifted his head and eyed the toast wearily. He took a small sip of the juice before he found a knife and cut the toast in half. George wanted to make a comment about the fact that Oscar was eating plain toast but then again, the Aussie wasn't feeling well.
Oscar was quiet whilst the rest of the drivers chatted away. He managed to finish his orange juice but he couldn't eat all of his toast. Anytime he looked at it, he felt sick so he had to push the plate away. He could see Logan eying the food so he pushed the plate in the American's direction.
Lando kept on glancing at Oscar out of concern.
"Are you alright?" He asked quietly.
Oscar sighed.
"I'll be fine once the weekend is over." Admitted Oscar.
Lando ran a hand through Oscar's hair again. The Aussie closed his eyes tiredly. Lando spotted Jon and Kim out of the corner of his eye and he knew that the car had arrived to take the two McLaren drivers to the paddock.
"Guys, I think our ride is here. We'll see you at the paddock."
Oscar reluctantly stood up and grabbed his backpack from the floor. The drivers watched on as Lando placed a hand on Oscar's back as he led him out of the restaurant.
Carlos whistled.
"Wow, Lando has it bad."
Logan smiled.
"Oscar is just as bad."
"He looks really ill." Said Alex.
"He'll be fine, he has Lando to look after him." Insisted Max.
Max truly believed what he was saying. When Lando had told him that he was dating Oscar, the Dutchman had been surprised. It hadn't been until he was getting to know the Aussie that he realised just how well the couple worked together.
He had never seen Lando look so in love before anytime he was with Oscar. Their interaction just now proved to Max just how much Lando cared for Oscar and how much their relationship meant to him.
