Chapter Text
I was in the muddy garden again. The trees were dancing harshly in the wind. I was in a simple white shirt that was quite tattered, barefoot. As I looked above me I saw a dark night sky full of beautiful, bright stars. Most people would be mesmerised at its sole beauty. However, I had already been here too many times, I already knew its true nature. I already knew that the stars were simply mocking me like they always did.
The garden was luxurious, although muddy, filled to the brim with exotic flowers all with their bright unique colours and shapes. I was already quite used to the layout of it after all, I’ve been here billions of times to the point where I wouldn’t even be able to count how many times I've died if it weren’t for the gold coin that was about to appear in my hand.
Not so suddenly, a gold coin appeared with a number engraved on it. “87” it said. On the back of it was a knife. “Ah, so that was how I was killed, stabbed by a knife. Not as nearly as creative as the last times but sure.” I whispered softly. It felt weird speaking in the garden. I felt I was disturbing the peace and quiet of it.
Then a black figure appeared.
I flinched at it, my sapphire blue eyes widened and my hands shook. This hasn’t happened before. Who was this person, was it even a person? As I turned to look at it, I saw that it was wearing a dark hood that covered its face. It was floating above the ground and its bony hands were holding a staff. The staff itself was most likely made out of wood and at the top it seemed to be curled. A black circle was being held by the curly bit of the staff, it looked as if it was inviting me to go inside it. On the other hand, its hands were not made out of flesh but of bones. They looked fragile and I think if I were to touch it’s hand it may just fall apart.
“WHO ARE YOU,” I shouted fiercely at the thing. I immediately regretted it due to the next thing it said. “What I am is of no matter to you. If you want my name I am sorry to say but I refuse to give it to you. You shall only be calling me Noor as the slaves of the black realm also call me. I have been sent by someone you will never know the name of either.” it whispered sternly. They had a raspy, deep voice that made it seem that if you were to disobey their orders, you would surely deeply regret it.
“W-why are you hear”
“I am here to warn you. Normally, I don’t care for Merphorams. However, you have simply reincarnated too many times without achieving your losi. Most people achieve it, in their tenth or twelfth life although, you somehow have failed about 87 times. I am simply unaware of simply how that is even possible. Somehow, you have thought it would be okay to simply replay the same choices over and over again, without you know, maybe making a little change here and there. Or maybe finding out who killed you,”Noor said quickly and quietly. Although, still stern and possibly a bit mad. “ I- what is a losi and what is a Merphomas,” I stuttered trying to be aware of my noise level.
“Doesn’t matter," Noor said. I couldn’t see their face under the black pointy hood, but I could hear in their raspy voice that they were probably infuriated.”What does matter is that you find out who kills you every time, that is what matters the most. YOU WILL FIND THAT OUT, and if you don’t the lord knows what will happen to both you and me,” as it spoke it seemed to get more scared and frightened. Their voice was getting a bit more wobbly and their bone hand started to shake a bit more.
“And if I don’t”
“YOU WILL DO AS I SAY, OR ELSE BOTH OUR LIVES WILL BE DAMNED FOR ETERNITY IN THE DEPTHS OF A PLACE EVEN I CANNOT SAY. BURIED ALONG WITH THE MOST TREACHEROUS BEASTS OF THIS WOEFUL UNIVERSE. YOU DON’T NEED TO KNOW ANYMORE THAN THAT. I AM CROSSING A LINE HERE, JUST BY SHOWING YOU MY PRESENCE AND I REFUSE TO CROSS IT EVEN FURTHER.”
“...”
“Now,”it said in a much more hushed tone, “You shall eat that coin and if you don’t you shall be subject to my wrath. Which I assure you can be much worse than any of those beasts down there if you don’t do what I say.”
I quickly brought the golden coin to my chest level and looked down on it. It was shining brightly as ever. Of Course I had also done this a multitude of times before. However, It had never shone that brightly before. It was a small, circular thing as per usual. Smaller than a ball but bigger than an ant.
“Go on then,”Noor spoke, patience on the brink of running out.
The coin entered my mouth.
My vision gradually disappeared until I could no longer see. My arms and legs were not able to function properly and my head spun around like a carriage wheel. Again, I was also used to this as well, Though I could not imagine what I am supposed to do in this next life to achieve my “losi” whatever that means. I drift into my subconscious as I wait to enter the next life.
“Goodnight Tommy,”Someone said.
