Chapter Text

Dan Feng was 16 almost 17 years old when it happened. He was home doing his homework with his little brother watching TV in the living room. At some point, he heard a knock at the door. 

"I'll answer it," Dan Feng said as he walked from his room to answer the door. Though he knew that even if he didn't said that Dan Heng wouldn't answered the door anyway.

He was too comfortable in his curled-up position watching cartoons to bother to get up and answer the door. "Little brat" Dan Feng said fondly as he shook his head. 

Dan Feng's smile died down when he opened the door. He expected some of his friends to show up unexpectedly. Or a neighbor. Even one of his parents because they forgot their keys. Not the cops.

"Are you Dan Feng?" one of them asked. A middle-aged man with short black hair that started to turn grey. His expression was a serious but sad one at the same time. 

Dan Feng gulped and he nodded. He was scared. Because he didn't know what was going on.

"Is your brother home as well?"

"Dan Heng!!" Dan Feng called. He could hear his little brother grumbling annoyed. When Dan Heng appeared beside him his annoyance turned into a scared one when he saw the cops. Dan Feng wrapped his arm around his little brother who clinged to his waist. "What's going on officers"

The two officers looked at each other before the man started talking again. "Kids. I'm sorry to tell you this. But an hour ago there had been an accident. Two cars collided with each other. Apparently the driver of the second car was drunk. The people from the other car were your parents. There's no survivor.

Those words made their world crash.

"No. It's not true. It's a lie" Dan Heng yelled angrily as tears streamed down his little face. And he would have jumped at the cops if it wasn't for Dan Feng holding him back.

Dan Feng picked his little brother up in his arms and hugged him against his chest as Dan Heng sobbed in his neck.  Dan Feng feels like crying as well. But he was holding back. He has to be strong for his little brother. He rocked his brother in his arms and shushed him trying to calm him down. Even though he wasn't successful.

Dan Heng managed to cry himself in his older brother's arms. Now he was sleeping in his lap as Dan Feng was sitting on the couch watching the cops in his house talking with some woman in a suite. Either a lawyer or someone from child protective services.

The thought that they would be taken by the system horrified him. He's almost 17 and his brother is 10 only. If someone adopts Dan Heng there's a slim chance that they would take Dan Feng too. Teenagers are rare to be adopted. And if no one took him until he was 18 he would be kicked out and forced to abandon his brother in the orphanage.

Also there slim chance that the foster or adoptive family would be kid and not abusive. With that thought in his head, he feels determined to not let himself or his brother be taken away

 He shook Dan Heng's shoulder gently.

"Mhm. Big brother" Dan Heng opened his eyes slowly and he looked at Dan Feng. Then his attention was moved to the cops in his house. "It wasn't a dream", he said and he was about to start crying again

"Shh. Shh. It's OK."Even though it wasn't ok. And it won't be for a while. "Don't cry. It's ok" he said softly as he ran his fingers through his little brother's hair. "Dan Heng. You have to listen to me carefully. Alright?"

Dan Heng sniffed and he nodded. "Our parents are dead"When Dan Feng said that he could feel tears pricking in his eyes that he had to suppress. He needs to be strong for his little brother. "Which means that we will be taken by the system "Dan Heng's eyes widened when he heard that. Even if he is ten, Dan Heng is a very smart little kid and he knows what that means. " I can't let them take you away from me. So we have to run "

"But…But where we will go?"Dan Heng asked his voice cracking. Their grandparents are dead and none of their parents had siblings. And they don't trust any of the friends of their parents to care for them. 

"We... We. I will find something. But what's more important is that we stay together " Dan Heng nodded determined and he got off from his lap. Quietly the brothers walked into their room and grabbed their backpacks and shoved some clothes, their phones, and chargers. They can't go and get food from the kitchen because they would be caught. Luckily both of them have some money saved and they won't starve. After packing Dan Feng opened the window and he helped his brother first before he got out as well. He grabbed Dan Heng's hand and together they ran away.

Their life didn't become easier after they ran away

 Far from it. It was harder. They had to sleep on the streets for a few days. They had to drop school. Because they both knew that the cops would search them there. 

They didn't starve. They had enough money to buy themselves some food. 

One day they were found by some people and taken to the homeless shelter. It wasn't the best. But better than sleeping in the streets. They both shared one bed. Though Dan Feng didn't sleep too much. He was alert. To protect his brother in case someone would try to hurt him

Dan Heng slept peacefully at least. Even though he was disturbed by nightmares because of their parents' death. 

There were some people who asked them why they were on the streets but they dropped it when they refused to answer. Fortunately for some reason, no one called the protective services on them.

Dan Feng thought that Dan Heng wouldn't notice. But even if he's ten, he's not stupid. He could tell that his brother was affected by their parent's death as he was. But he tried to be strong for him. While he appreciates he doesn't want for his brother to keep everything bottled inside.

Dan Feng thought he didn't notice. But he did. The sniffles. The tears that Dan Feng immediately wiped and replaced his sad face with a smiley one. 

One night he woke up because he had to go to the bathroom. Dan Heng doesn't like the homeless shelter that much. Especially since some people are mean and they tend to fight for food. But his big brother said that it was better than sleeping in the streets. 

Dan Heng moved slowly from his brother's arms, who was sleeping, and he walked slowly towards the bathroom. After he was returned he climbed back in the bed. He was about to go back to sleep when the moonlight illuminated his brother's face. And he saw that he was crying in his sleep.

"Don't cry. Don't cry. It's ok. Shh. Shh. It's alright" Dan Heng whispered the words his brother said many times. He wiped Dan Feng's tears as he stroked his hair and he continued to repeat the words.  And even though he was asleep. It seems that his big brother heard him. Because he stopped crying. Dan Heng smiled and he pressed a kiss on his brother's forehead before he snugged back into his chest and went back to sleep.

Their life didn't get better immediately. But it was getting there. Dan Feng managed to get a job at a small cafe. He managed to get Dan Heng into another school where no one knew them. Unfortunately because of the poor clothes and backpack, Dan Heng was almost always bullied

And Dan Feng hated every time he saw his brother coming back sad, crying, or injured. He wishes he could do something. But he was powerless. 

After one year Dan Feng managed to save enough money to rent a small apartment for him and Dan Heng. He has to go hungry for a day or two sometimes to get Dan Feng nice clothes or presents for his birthday or Christmas. But he doesn't regret it. 

Dan Feng also managed to get signed up for only classes. Like this, he would manage to get his diploma. It was hard to struggle, with studying, working, and taking care of his brother. But he managed

When Dan Heng got into high school he managed to get a part-time job as well despite Dan Feng's protests.

"You took care of me for 6 years. Please. Let me help you" Dan Heng pleaded. And Dan Feng can't say no to the puppy eyes and he gave in. After he made Dan Heng promise that his studies wouldn't be affected.

Dan Heng managed to finish high school with grades high enough to get into a good university with a scholarship. 

"What do you mean, no?"Dan Feng asked shocked and confused. The two of them were at a pizzeria celebrating Dan Heng's graduation. "Dan Heng. You can't say no to university. Think about your future"

"What about yours Dan Feng? You expect to work all your life in that dumb cafe. You're 24 years old for goodness sake" Dan Heng said annoyed

"Hey. Watch your tone you brat. Remember that my job at the cafe is the one that took us out from the streets, your ungrateful brat", he snapped

 Which made Dan Heng guilty. Because he didn't want to give the impression to Dan Feng that he was ungrateful

"I didn't want to be ungrateful. Just that. You need to have a future Dan Feng. Go and take some classes and get a degree in something. You already have a diploma after finishing High school because of the online classes. And with a high score too. "

"And what about you and your future Dan Heng?"

"I will probably go to college too. One day. But I prefer to take a break for a while"

It took a while to convince Dan Feng. But he managed to accept his proposal.

Three years later and Dan Feng managed to get a degree and get to work in a big company as well. He started from the bottom. But it was better and was paying better than the cafe and he managed to make Dan Heng to go to the University as well.

With the money from the job he managed to get a bigger apartment for himself and his brother and he he managed to pay for things that Dan Heng's scholarship didn't cover and they still had enough for bills and food. 

Surprisingly he was so good at his job. Plus he has initiative and leadership skills. And gained the necessary experience after two years. He was made the CEO of the company.

Their life used to be decent. Then it went down with their parents' death. And had to survive alone for years. It has been a struggle for both of them. 

But now. Years later. With Dan Feng at the age of 33 and Dan Heng at the age of 27 as the CEO and COO of a big company. Their life was good once again. But not perfect. Because it was missing something. And that is a partner.

Chapter Text

Blade and Yingxing are twins. Yingxing was born 5 minutes before Blade. Which makes him the older twin and feel protective over Blade. But it doesn't mean that Blade was not protective over Yingxing either. They always protected one another against mean kids.

Even if they are kids, both know that their parents don't love them barely at all. Their father is barely home and their mother throws some food on the table for them before she spends most of the time on a couch watching TV. 

One time when both were three because they were curious little kids and bored of their toys, they decided to go out and play. Their mother was asleep on the couch. But the front door was unlocked. Yingxing climbed on a chair to reach the doorknob and he opened the door, smiling happily at his twin. 

The two boys walked outside and played around the house. Unsupervised and not knowing that they weren't meant to run around the street they did it carelessly without noticing the car approaching.

A car that could have hit and killed them if it wasn't for a neighbor rushing and grabbing the two boys just in time. "You two ok?" he asked looking at the two little boys shaking in his arms with tears in their eyes. They nodded.

"Why are you two here unsupervised? Where are your parents?" the man asked softly.

"Mommy is sleeping," Yingxing said. And the man cursed mentally

"Your father?" The two boys shook their heads as they didn't know where their dad was. The man sighed and brought the two boys back home. Where the mother was awake and was looking frantically for her boys. But mostly because she didn't want to get in trouble then out of worry

"Yingxing. Blade" she called out relieved when she saw her sons being carried into the house by her neighbor

"Mommy" the two boys shouted and they jumped from the man's arms and rushed to their mother and hugged her.

"What kind of mother you are!"The man scolded her. Clearly not happy about her neglect. "Because of your carelessness, your sons almost got hit by a car because they were playing unsupervised in the streets."

The mother gasped and she froze. Her eyes were wide in shock. "I'm so sorry. I.. I was just tired. It's not easy taking care of two energetic boys. And my husband is at work. I swear I closed my eyes a little and then they were gone. I didn't mean for this to happen "

The man looked at her not knowing if she should believe her or not. But he got fooled by how she was hugging Blade and Yingxing as if she cared. "Fine. Be more careful. Next time they might not be as lucky"

The woman nodded. "Yes. Of course. Thank you very much "she said and the man nodded before he took his leave.

Two years later when Yingxing and Blade were 5, their parents didn't want them anymore. No matter how much Blade and Yingxing cried and begged their mother and father. They didn't change their mind.

Their excuse was that they loved them. But their father lost his job(something that even if Yingxing and Blade are 5, are smart enough to realize it's a lie) and they can't take care of two kids anymore

 So they were dropped at the orphanage.

For several weeks the two boys. Despite the worker's progress, stayed retreated in their room. 

"Do you want to play?" a little boy a year younger than Blade and Yingxing asked one day. He was the first child that approached them for the first time since they got there. The two boys shook their heads. "My name is Jing Yuan", he said with a smile holding his hand towards the two boys. 

Yingxing was the first one who reached and grabbed Jing Yuan's hand. "I'm Yingxing. And this is my little brother Blade" he said pointing to his twin who was glued to Yingxing's side just looking at Jing Yuan. The white-haired boy smiled brightly at the two of them.

"We are friends now."He said happily. "So you want to play?"Yingxing and Blade looked at each other. And in the end, they gave in and decided to go and play with Jing Yuan. 

Jing Yuan was their first friend there. He had been in the orphanage since he was a newborn and he was hoping that one day he would have mom and dad. 

"Maybe we are all going to be adopted together and we will be a family, "Jing Yuan said happily. And they couldn't lie. Both Blade and Yingxing actually enjoyed that idea.

Unfortunately, their wish didn't come true. Jing Yuan was adopted by a woman called Jingliu. When Jing Yuan asked why she couldn't take Blade and Yingxing as well, she answered that she could take care of only one child. So the three boys had to say goodbye. Hugging they promised each other that they would meet again one day.

"Yingxing. Why no one wants ?"Blade asked the question one day. Two years in the orphanage later when both Blade and Yingxing are 7. None of the boys had been adopted

 There had been some parents that wanted to. But just one of them. But the twins didn't want to be separated. So in the end no one was taken anymore.

They went through several foster homes. But after a few months, they were been taken back to the orphanage without any explanation. It's not like they did anything bad. They always behaved and they didn't have bad grades. They even befriended with the biological children of the foster family. "Did we do something? It's something wrong with us?" Blade asked sadly.

"No. No. Nothing is wrong with us", Yingxing said softly as he hugged his twin little brother and stroked his black hair. "They are not the ones. Don't worry. One day someone would want us. We will find our forever home."He promised determined. And Blade believed him.

The twins were ten when a family decided to adopt them. "Both of us?"Blade asked hopefully.

"Yes, darling. Both of you. We wouldn't dream of separating you. Right love?" the wife asked her husband and her husband nodded.

"That's right"

Both Blade and Yingxing were happy. Their dream had come true. They got adopted and they would not be separated. Even if they were ten the twins were starting to lose hope that someone would adopt them. But in the end, they got lucky.

It was good for a few months. Their new parents spoiled Blade and Yingxing rotten. They aren't rich. But not poor either. But they could afford to spoil the kids from time to time. Like getting them sweets if they behaved or did their chores. And toys if they got good grades in school. When they got 100 on their test their parents spoiled them with a day at the amusement park. They even took them for a weakened at Disneyland. 

For Yingxing and Blade, it was the best life ever. Unfortunately, it didn't last.

Almost a year in the new family their father lost his job. He said that his boss made cuts because he couldn't afford all the workers anymore. And unfortunately, he was one of them. Their mother didn't have a job because she was a housewife.

"Unfortunately we will have to cut on the presents and excursions"Their parents sat the boy down one day and told them. "We have to hold on to the money we have saved until I will find work again" 

Even if they have been spoiled by their new parents Blade and Yingxing understand. And they have no problems. They even offered to sell some of their toys to help

 Their father laughed and shared and amused look with his wife. "There's no need boys", he said as he hugged his sons. "We are the adults as well as your parents. We will handle it. And we will get over it. I promise" he said. And the brothers believed him.

Unfortunately. It didn't get better. Far from it. It got worse with each passing week. The money were getting shorter and they barely got enough for food. Much else for bills that were piling up. And unfortunately, none of their parents managed to find a job again. They had to borrow money from friends to put food on the table. They were even thinking about selling the house and getting a small cheaper apartment.

Then one night when Yingxing and Blade were in their room doing homework they heard crashing coming from the kitchen. The twins looked at each other confused and scared. They should have stayed in their rooms. But their curiosity got the better of them. They walked quietly out of their room, downstairs from where the noise was heard.

"What the hell you were thinking?" they could hear their mother yelling. "Gambling. Fucking gambling? When we can barely put food on the table. And drinking as well?!" she yelled. 

The twins peeked into the kitchen to see a bottle shattered on the floor. And their parents arguing.

"I'm trying to find a way to get us from this mess!" Their father yelled so angrily that his face turned red. "I'm not staying home all day like a useless bitch."

"How the fuck gambling is helping. You are losing the remaining money that we have you piece of shit "their mother yelled angrily.

Then what happened next made the two boys gasp shocked. Their father smacked their mother so hard that she lost balance and fell on the floor. "Don't you dare question my way. You have no right to question what I do. Do I have to remind you that I'm the reason why we have a roof over our heads!!" Then their father saw Blade and Yingxing from the corner of his eyes and he turned his attention to them

 Making the two boys freeze in fear. "You two. Get the hell out of here. Back to your room" he yelled angrily.

The two boys flinched and they didn't hesitate a second to run back to their room. Their homework was forgotten as they climbed into Yingxing's bed and cuddled with each other as a form of comfort. Yingxing holding his younger brother protectively.

Things went from bad to worse. Their mother left. She couldn't bear it anymore. And she didn't care for Yingxing and Blade anymore. The brothers were so heartbroken that they cried for almost all day. They thought that they would return back to the orphanage. Back then they didn't know that returning there would have been oh so much better.

But their father didn't give them away. In the beginning, they were happy. Later they wondered why. Was it to have something to relieve his stress on? Their father sold the apartment and they moved to a smaller apartment. He got a pretty beautiful amount of money for the house. 

But. He barely used it on food. He got addicted to gambling and he used most of the money there. Sometimes he won. Sometimes he lost. Pretty much too. And on alcohol too. The brothers had to go hungry for day before their father remembered he has sons and bought cheap food for them to eat.

What was worse. He was drunk most of the time. He got angry easily. And blamed the boys because his wife left him. Because he lost his job. He went from putting the blame and yelling at them. To getting physical. One small mistake and they were beaten up. His father was smart though. Most of the time. He was hitting where he knew that it couldn't be noticed.

There were times when he gave one of the boys or to both a black eye or a bruise on their neck by holding them tight. They had to miss school for a week until it healed with the excuse that they were sick.

One night as Yingxing was cleaning one of the cuts from their father's belt on Blade's back that was shaking and crying quietly, he made a promise that he wouldn't let his little brother be hurt again. He might not be strong enough to stop him. But he can take the punishment instead of Blade.

One night Blade was washing the dishes. He was sitting on a chair on his knees so he could reach the sink. The child's hands were shaking a little as he could hear his father yelling at someone on the phone

 He was clearly drunk. Again. Then at some point by mistake, he dropped a glass and it fell on the ground and shattered.

"You stupid little brat "he heard his father yell. So he heard everything. His father marched into the kitchen, his face red in anger. "Look at the mess that you did ", he yelled as he pointed at the glass shards.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ", the boy said on the verge of crying. His little body shaking.

"Excuses. I don't want to hear them" he yelled as he pulled out his belt. At this Blade was crying.

"No. Wait "Yingxing said rushing into the kitchen and putting himself in front of Blade. "Please. Don't hurt him. Punish me instead of him" he said and Blade looked shocked at his twin words.

Their father narrowed his eyes. Then he pointed at Blade. "To your room", he ordered. Blade was hesitant to leave. But Yingxing nodded so he left. The walls were thin. So even though he closed the door and he covered his ears with his hands he could still hear his brother's cries.

 Their life continued like this for two more years. The punishments weren't even punishments anymore. Their father was just beating them to relieve stress. Even when he wasn't drunk. Yingxing managed to protect Blade and take the beatings for him. But not always. There were times when Blade was home alone with his father and he got beaten.

Fortunately, after two years of hell, the neighbors that moved next door recently heard about the abuse and they called the cops. Their father was arrested and Blade and Yingxing were sent back to the orphanage. The two brothers couldn't be more happy to be back there.

Unfortunately, they got traumatized by the whole abuse. So the 13-year-old boys didn't trust any adults around them. And they had nightmares almost every night. 

When they got fostered they were sent back to the orphanage after a couple of weeks because they couldn't bear to stay near the adult and their cries when waking up from nightmares disturbed the younger children.

 3 years later, much to their surprise, seeing that they were 16, they got adopted as well. Surprise and terror. Even if 3 years had passed, they won't forget easily the hell they went through for 2 years. 

The person who adopted them was a woman in her late twenties by the name of Baiheng. She looked kind and loving. But so did their previous adoptive parents. They didn't wanted to go with her. But they were forced to.

Her house was decent but feel warm and homey. Even though they got two separate rooms, the twins still found themselves in one room, sleeping in a bed to protect each other

 But Baiheng didn't mind.

Surprisingly she didn't mind when they woke her up from time to time with their cries and screams from nightmares. On the contrary. She tried to calm them down. But they always recoiled away from her.

Months passed and her attitude didn't change. Baiheng still continues to try and gain their trust. She started making hot chocolate every time she heard one of her boys waking up from a nightmare. And this time they accepted the gesture.

Then they accepted her comfort. They accepted her hugs. Every time Blade or Yingxing had a nightmare. She rushed from her bed and into their room to hug them and comfort them. And they let her.

They were still wary. But little by little they started to trust her more and more. Her comfort, her gesture to make them feel included, her present. They didn't need to do any chores if they didn't want to. She never got mad if they didn't get perfect grades. 

A part of the twins were expecting that one day something would happen that would switch something in Baiheng. But it never happened. She remained the same kind and sweet mother.

Years passed and the boy finished high school and went to the college. It was the hardest thing because the college was in another city and they had to depart from their mother.

"Don't be sad boys" Baiheng said with a smile. Even though she was fighting back tears. "It's not the end. You would still remain my sons. I will visit as much as I can. And you are always welcome on holiday"

Blade and Yingxing smiled happily and they hugged their mother. "Thank you, Mom. We love you"

"I love you two. My beautiful boys are men now," she said hugging Blade and Yingxing tight.

After the boys finished the college they returned back home. And their mom welcomed them back with open arms. They started working to help around their mother. They got a small apartment, the building close to their mother's house. Much to their mother's protest. They could have stayed with her as much as they wanted.

Now both Blade and Yingxing are 30 years old. Yingxing opened his cafe, which was pretty successful. It wasn't anything big or fancy. But it was warm and cozy and his drinks and pastry were the best. And Blade opened his mechanic shop. He discovered that he has a love for cars and a desire to fix them since he was 18. And he always dreamed of having his own mechanic shop. And now his dream had come true.

   Both of them have a pretty decent life. But they are missing something. And that's a partner.

Chapter Text

Being CEO is not an easy job. There's a lot of stress on his shoulders and a lot of expectations from everyone. That the company would run smoothly and they wouldn't lose a contract or money. It's even worse when it's a worldwide one. Yes. He has his brother to help him. But even Dan Heng has his own burdens as the COO, his second hand. 

"Are you going to stay here till late again brother?"Dan Heng asked as he closed his laptop and he put it in his bag, together with the documents he worked on. "Dan Feng!" he raised his voice a little when he saw that his older brother wasn't paying attention to him.

"Hmm. What? You said anything Dan Heng?" Dan Feng asked as he lifted his head from the documents to look at his brother. Dan Heng had his arms crossed and he looked unhappy at him. He could see the tiredness in his brother's expression. And the black bags under his eyes.

"I asked if you are going to stay until late again."

"Ah. Yes. I still have something to take care of. I will come home later. Don't wait for me."

Dan Heng sighed. He wanted to protest and force his brother to get his ass from the chair and come home with him. But he knew that it would be pointless. His brother is too stubborn for his own good. "Alright. Please don't stay after midnight again. "

Dan Feng hummed with a nod. "Drive safely", he said instead. Dan Heng grabbed his bag and he walked out from the office. He bid goodbye to the secretary and the other workers he spotted, who were as workaholics as his brother, on his way out from the company building.

    Dan Feng's head almost dropped on his desk from exhaustion when he finally decided to look at the phone to see what time it was. He cursed when he saw that it was past midnight. "Dan Heng is going to kill me," he said to himself standing up from the chair. 

Hopefully, his little brother listened to him for once and he went to sleep instead of waiting for him so he wouldn't know that he didn't listen to him. His little brother can be scary sometimes and make him think that he's the older one.

Dan Feng gathered his things and he walked out from his office and building, bidding goodbye to the night guard. The only one there besides Dan Feng. He yawed as he climbed into his car. The smart choice would have been to call for a cab. Because he was too exhausted to drive. But he doesn't want to risk for his car being stolen. So he has to drive.

He drove for several minutes on his way home when he noticed a cafe shop open. "Weird? At this hour?" he wondered. Not even his usual cafe wasn't open at this hour anymore. And it tends to stay open until midnight. He doesn't remember seeing that place before. Maybe he didn't pay much attention.

Well. Seeing that it was open and he was at risk of falling asleep at the wheel he decided to go there and get some coffee. Dan Feng parked the car in front of the cafe. He got up from the car and he walked inside. "Excuse me. Is it still open?" he asked politely.

The cafe was completely devoid of people. The floors were clean. The glass case was empty. The chairs were on the table. Maybe it wasn't open anymore.

"Oh. A bit late for a customer" a voice was heard followed by a man that could be an employee or the owner. A man with white hair, by the look of it it's died and not naturally, he wasn't born with it. And the man looks younger than him too. His expression was a tired but kind one.

"I'm sorry. I thought that you were still open. Sorry for disturbing you. Have a goodnight 'Dan Feng said. He was about to leave the cafe shop but he was stopped by the other man.

"Wait. If you are still here I don't see why shouldn't I serve you "

Dan Feng was surprised by that. Usually, employees don't want to stay over the schedule to serve some loser who stumbles in the place when it's closing time. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. It's no problem. Tell me. What do you want."

"Coffe. Any kind. It doesn't matter."

"Isn't it a bit late for coffee sir?" The man asked with a chuckle and Dan Feng could feel something weird inside him. Something that he would brush it as part of exhaustion.

"Yeah. But I'm used to staying up late. So it wouldn't be a problem" Dan Feng said and the other man hummed. "Plus I need to keep my eye open on the road on my way home."

"What if I make you hot chocolate? It would give you enough energy to drive home safely and you would be able to fall asleep pretty quick too"

Dan Feng thought over about it. He wasn't a fan of hot chocolate. Or much sweet in general. That is Dan Heng. He's obsessed with sweat things. And he guess that's his fault because he spoiled him enough with sweets as a kid when he could afford it. But also the man here was taking from his own time to prepare him something when he should have closed and go home and rest.  "Alright. Thank you"

The man smiled brightly and Dan Feng could feel that sensation again. "Perfect. Go and sit down somewhere. I will be back"  Dan Feng nodded and he went and sat down at a booth.  He pulled out his phone to look through it to distract himself and not fall asleep. Somehow he managed to doze off without knowing when he feel a hand shaking him by his shoulder.

"Hmm. What?" he was confused for a few seconds because he didn't know what was going on

"I have your hot chocolate," the barista said as he put a cup of steaming hot chocolate on the tablet in front of him. 

"Oh. Sorry. I somehow dozed off "Dan Feng said standing up and grabbing the plastic cup. "Thank you. How much do I owe you for it."

"Nothing. It's on the house" he said and Dan Feng looked surprised.

"No. I refuse. Let me pay for it "

"It's fine. I insist. You can make up for it by driving safely home. And coming back here from time to time. Preferably when it's not closing time"

"You have a deal..ah."

"Oh. Right. I'm Yingxing. Nice to meet you" he said holding a hand out. 

"I'm Dan Feng. Nice to meet you as well," he said taking Yingxing hand. Compared with his own, Yingxing hand was a little bigger and definitely much warmer. Must be because he worked at the stove to make the hot chocolate. "I will promise that I will come back," he said taking a sip from the hot chocolate and his eyes widened. "Definitely coming back. This is delicious."

Yingxing chuckled his eyes sparkling. "Looking forward to it "

When Yingxing arrived back home, the penthouse was completely dark. Expect for some light coming from the living room. When he walked into the living room he saw that the TV was open and Dan Heng was sleeping on the couch.

Dan Feng shook his head. "Stubborn little brat," he told his little brother to not wait for him. But by the look of it. He was waiting for him. But he fell asleep. He grabbed s blanket from the back of the couch and he covered his little brother, who moved a little in his sleep. But he didn't wake up. He turned off the TV and he went to his room to change and sleep. He was too exhausted for a shower.

Immediately he laid down on the bed and his head touched the pillow, he fell asleep instantly.

He kept his promise to the barista, Yingxing. And he returned back to the coffee shop where he works. But not after telling Dan Heng to go at the company ahead of him. Also scolding him about not listening to him when he told him not to wait for him last night.

He didn't want for Dan Heng to come with him. Because then he would question him why he was going to another cafe than his usual one. And he doesn't have an answer. Because he likes the hot chocolate there it's stupid, seeing that he hadn't drunk from the usual. And no way he was telling him because he wanted to see the barista again. He can only hope he works at this hour.

When he arrived at the destination and he got out from the car and walked inside he could see that now the cafe was busier. And he has to wait a little in the line. But the wait is worth it. Because Yingxing was there.

Several minutes later it was his turn. "Hi," he said with a small smile. "I'm back. This time when it's not closing time"

"I can see"Yingxing smiled brightly. "What can I give you?"

"One Expresso and one hot  chocolate 

"Oh? So you really liked my hot chocolate"

"This time it's for my brother." He said and Yingxing wrote down his order before he started to prepare them. In a couple of minutes, both drinks were finished. "You have pretty fast hands and fingers. Impressive" he said as he swiped his card to pay for the drinks.

"Perks of being the only one working here. My hands and fingers can be very quick in other scenarios that I won't mind showing you "Yingxing said with a wink and smirk.

If Dan Feng would have had something in his mouth he would have spit it at Yingxing words. He could feel his face turning red. But before he could say anything an annoyed voice was heard behind him. "If you got your order, move. Other people are waiting".

"Right. Excuse me m'am" he said as he grabbed his drinks and moved away from the counter. He felt his phone buzzing and he had to leave the drinks on an empty table so he could look at it. There was a series of texts from his brother asking him where he was and what was taking him so long to come to work. If he was alright and to remind him about the super important meeting that would take place on in less then an hour.

He rolled his eyes and he texted Dan Heng that he would be there in half an hour before he pocketed his phone. He grabbed his drinks and he was about to leave when he heard yelling. 

"What is this garbage 'the woman that was behind him earlier said annoyed. Her voice was raised.  "I didn't order this. I clearly said that I wanted a cafe late"  

Dan Feng could hear some kids from the boots whispering about the woman being a Karen. Then his attention went back to the conflict. 

"I assure you m'am. You ordered an iced coffee. I wrote down your order here" he said showing her the notepad. He was trying to be calm and polite. But Dan Feng could tell that all the yelling was making him uncomfortable.

"Then you clearly weren't paying attention when I told you what I want" she raised her voice even more.

"I'm sorry ma'am. I will remake your right order "he said and he tried to grab the cup from her. But she was holding on to it pretty hard. Then when she let go because Yingxing was pulling at it, the recoil made the drink spill on him. 

"Oops. My mistake" she said. But her voice was anything but unapologetically. 

Dan Feng doesn't know what possessed him. But he grabbed the hot chocolate and he walked towards the woman and he pretended to stumble and he spilled all the drink on her. 

"What do you think that you are doing you.." the woman shrieked.

"Oops. My mistake" he said trying to hide his amusement. The other clients didn't even bother because they immediately started bursting laughing. The woman looked like she was ready to explode. But instead of making another scene, she stormed out from the cafe. 

"Are you alright?" he asked as he turned to Yingxing. He could see that he was more relaxed now. Though there was still some residue tension in his shoulders.

"Yes. Luckily it's iced coffee. You shouldn't have done that", he said as he grabbed some napkins and wiped some coffee from him.

"She asked for it. Coming here and makes a scene because she has nothing better to do at home. Then she spilled the coffee on you by mistake"Dan Feng huffed annoyed as he crossed his arms. 

Yingxing smiled softly at him. "Let me make you the coffee again. For free. No protest"Yingxing said when he saw Dan Feng opening his mouth to protest.

Yingxing went to make another expresso for Dan Feng and it was finished quickly. "Thank you, "Dan Feng said. "I should probably go to work or my phone would be spammed with messages from my brother. "He said after he took the cup of coffee. He gave Yingxing a wave as he walked out from the cafe with the coffee and hot chocolate.

As he watched Dan Feng leave, Yingxing attention was caught by a napkin with something written on it on the counter. When he took it he smiled as he saw that it was a phone number. Dan Feng's phone number.

Chapter Text

Dan Heng didn't expect that today would be his unlucky day. He didn't expect that when he would wake up this morning and he would have to run some errands for the company as COO his car would die down in the middle of the road. He was supposed to go to another city for a meeting with another company in his brother's place because Dan Feng was too busy…

And of course, he agreed. Between him and his older brother, he was the one who liked to travel the most. Even if it's a business trip in another country or continent or in another City where he would have to drive for a few hours. He doesn't like to be locked all the time in the company. It feels suffocating for him.

So of course he didn't even hesitate a second to accept Dan Feng's proposal to go in his place to the meeting. The board from the company was announced and they would know to expect for Dan Heng, not Dan Feng.

On his way there on the highway, his car stopped. He hadn't even left his city yet. "What. I swear I made the fill this morning" he said when his car stopped all of a sudden. When he checked he saw that his car still has gas. He tried to start the car again and it made a weirdo noise before smoke started coming from the engine.

 "Well, that's freaking great. " He groaned annoyed.

He got up from the car and he shivered. It was pretty cold and his clothes weren't made for cold weather. He should have listened to Dan Feng when he told him to get a thicker jacket and hoodie. But he didn't listen because he thought that he would be in the car and then company building all day.

He opened the hood and coughed as smoke came out from the engine. Yeah. He has no idea what was wrong and how to fix it. Just great. "Just my luck", he said slamming down the hood hard enough it shook the car.

Dan Heng knowing that he had no other choice he had to call for his car to be taken to a mechanic. Now almost half an hour later he was in a truck with a man that was taking his car to the mechanic and he tried to call his brother many times. But his brother didn't answer. He was probably busy or his phone his turned off.

"You don't have to worry about your car, son", the driver said. A man in his late forties or probably early fifties. "Our boss is very skilled and he would fix it in no time"

"At this point, it doesn't matter how fast he would fix it. It would not be in time for my important business", he said and he rubbed his forehead. Even though this wasn't his fault, hopefully, he still feels like he let down his brother for not arriving at the important meeting.

If he saw that his brother didn't answer at the phone he had to send him texts about what happened and let the CEO of the other company know that he would not arrive at the meeting. 

The old man tried to get into conversation with him all the way until the mechanic shop. Probably to take his mind off his problem. But it didn't help. Another half an hour later they arrived at the destination and Dan Heng looked at the building

 It wasn't something impressive or very big. But there were several cars there. So it would probably take a while until his car was fixed. 

He got out from the trunk just as the old man let his car down in the shop. "Wait here. I will get the boss" he said and Dan Heng nodded. He leaned against the wall with on his phone trying to contact his brother. The bad part was that he didn't have much battery on his phone and he could swear he forgot his charger in his office like the dumb person he is 

"This is your car?"Dan Heng was snapped from his phone by a voice that came from in front of him. He raised his head to see a man probably a little older than him. His hair was long and dark blue with red highlights and was tied in a ponytail. He was wearing a blue shirt that was stained with grease and blue jeans. "Well?" he asked raising his eyebrow.

Dan Heng shook his head. " Yes. Yes. It's my car. It crashed in the middle of the highway" 

The man hummed. Dan Heng could see that he had a badge on the chest with his name. Blade. Weird name. But he would not judge him. 

"Nice car. But I can see from your clothes why you have such an expensive one. Let me take a look "Blade said and he opened the hood. "Yeah. Your engine is busted. Idk how you managed that. It would take a while "

"It's fine. I figured it might take something" Even though Dan Heng wasn't very happy about it. But it's not like he has a choice.

"Do you have someone to pick you up or want me to call you a cab?"Blade asked and he could see that the other man didn't want to say. Act like it was the first time at the mechanic. "Or you can wait here, I guess. Though you won't have anything better to do. It would take hours"

"It's fine. I can wait "

"Suit yourself, "Blade said as he went to work on the car he was working on before he was called over. 

Dan Heng sighed and he took his phone out and he walked outside and tried to call his brother again. But nothing. And Dan Feng didn't see his messages either. Just how busy his brother can be if he can't pick up the phone for a minute.

"No matter how busy I will be I will always answer you, my ass" Dan Heng grumbled annoyed. It's not like Dan Feng stop caring about him. But he swears even since he became CEO he stopped caring as much as he used. And he's a little hurt about it. He might be dependent on his older brother. Or maybe because his brother was the one who raised him since he was 6.

A few hours later Blade started working on his car. And Dan Heng was checking over some documents on his laptop that he took from his car. Yes. Definitely working on the laptop and not oogling the mechanic and how his shirt was lifted a little and he could see his abs. Or how visible it was that Blade's arms are very muscular.

He was so focused on his "work" that he almost didn't notice when his phone started ringing. He jumped at the loud ringtone. And it took Blade by surprise as well because he jumped as well and he hit himself on the hood. "Ow. Shit" he cursed.

"I'm sorry. I.." Dan Heng started but Blade stopped him

"It's fine. But I suggest to answer the phone" he pointed out to the phone that was still ringing.

"Yes. Right" He grabbed his phone and he answered. "Hello?"

"Dan Heng.."It was his brother. He didn't even check to see who was calling before he answered.

"Finally decided to call back, "Dan Heng asked annoyed.

"Dan Heng. What happened? Why you didn't arrive for the meeting? You should have been there half an hour ago." Is his brother serious?

"What? No are you alright? Are you safe? Nothing?" Dan Heng asked annoyed. And hurt. Does his brother care more about a dumb meeting? His brother probably called him back because the CEO of the other company called because he didn't arrive at the meeting.

Blade was trying to be discreet. But Dan Heng could tell that he was listening to his conversation. 'Noisy' he thought even more annoyed than was. He stood up from the chair and he walked outside

Not caring that he would shiver from the cold.

"Dan Heng. Answer the question. Why are you not at the meeting?"Dan Feng said frustrated.

"My car broke down. That's why"

"What? How!? Dan Heng. That car wasn't cheap. I told you to be careful with it…"Dan Heng didn't want to listen to his brother babbling anymore. Especially since he cares more about a dumb car and the meeting. He turned his phone off when he saw that his brother was calling him again and he walked back into the shop.

He walked to Blade. "How long until the car is fixed "

"I told you that it would take a while"Blade answered without looking away from his work. 

"Yes. But the man who took me here said that you are very skilled. So can't you? I don't know. Fix it faster?"

Blade straighten so he can look at him and he looked pissed. "Look. By your clothes and your car, I can tell that you are a rich brat. And you grow up with snapping your fingers and having everyone fulfill all your wishes. But it's not how it works here. "

"Don't you ever assume something about me? You don't know anything about me", he snapped before he turned around and he stormed out from the shop.

Such a bad day had been today for him. His car broke down and he couldn't arrive at the meeting. He let his brother down. The same brother who cared more about the company than him. And then some mechanic that doesn't even know him started saying bullshit. 

Dan Heng stayed outside for a while. He didn't even care that he was cold and he was shivering. He doesn't want to be in that ass presence. He was tempted to call a cab and go home. Who knew when his car would be fixed? And it was starting to get dark outside.

He was snapped from his thoughts when he felt something warm over his shoulders and he flinched a little. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you" he heard the mechanic's voice.

He turned his head and looked to see Blade who looked apologetic at him. He realized that the other man had covered him with his jacket. That was warm and smelled of a combination of aftershave and motor oil. A combination that would make someone feel nauseated. But Dan Heng didn't mind it. "I'm sorry for saying those words earlier. I didn't mean to assume anything"

Dan Heng sighed. "It's fine. I apologize for snapping at you. I was mad with my brother and I took it on you. You did nothing bad.'

"What happened if you don't mind asking?"Blade asked as he pulled out a cigarette and started smoking. 

"In short. My brother cares more about a dumb meeting and some contract than me. "

"How do you know that?"

"I called him many times even since I got here. He got back to me hours later and the first thing to ask me is that why I didn't arrive at the meeting"

"Ouch," Blade said as he blew smoke. "Maybe he didn't mean that. "

"You don't know my brother. He completely changed even since he became CEO of a company. He's not how he used to be."

"I understand. But do try and talk with him. You might regret it if you don't"Blade said. For a couple of minutes, none of them said anything. They stayed quiet in each other presence. And was pretty comfortable considering that they were strangers. "Btw. I finished fixing your car"

"You could have told me this sooner, "he said mock offended and he elbowed Blade in his stomach which made the other man chuckle. "Thank you." For more than just the car.

"It's my job." You don't need to thank me. "Here" he pulled out a piece of paper. "This is my number. Call me when you have problems with your car again. Or if you just want to talk "

Dan Heng smiled and he looked at the paper with the man number before he put it in his pocket. "I'll keep it in mind"

"By the way. I nerve caught your name"

"Yeah. Sorry. I'm Dan Heng "

"And you already know my name "Blade said pointing at his name badge.

Dan Heng paid for his reparations and returned Blade his jacket and bid him goodbye before he got in the car and he left.

By the time he arrived home, it was midnight. He was surprised when he parked the car to see that his brother's car was there already. He thought that he would still be at the company. When he walked into the penthouse he could see that there were lights on in the kitchen

 "Dan Heng is that you?" he heard Dan Feng's voice from the kitchen.

Dan Heng was tempted to ignore his brother and go to his room. But he remembered what Blade told him and he sighed before he walked in the kitchen. "Yeah. It's me "he said. And he made sure that his brother could see on his expression that he was still upset about their conversation. "What do you want?"

"Are you alright?"

"Oh. So now you care?"

"Dan Heng. I didn't mean to sound like I didn't care. I wasn't thinking straight when I was announced that you hadn't arrived at the company. And when I saw the amount of missed calls. I assumed the worst and acted disappointed and angry instead of worried "

"You should have checked the amount of messages too"

"You're right. I apologize again, Dan Heng. I hope that you will forgive me."

Dan Heng sighed and he nodded. "Yes. I will. And I'm sorry that I ruined the contract "

"It's fine. The CEO was pretty understanding and he agreed to have the meeting again tomorrow. Or later today. "

Dan Heng was relieved to hear that. Maybe his day has turned started bad. But at least it finished well.

"I listened to your advice. You were right "he texted Blade later in h

is room. "This is Dan Heng by the way."

"Told you "He received a message back only seconds later as if the other man was expecting his message. 

Chapter Text

"Hey, brother. There are so many rumors going around the company"Dan Heng said as he walked into Dan Feng's office. He stopped himself from smirking or laughing when he saw his brother pulling his phone away so fast that the poor screen was probably cracked. 

He would have teased his brother because he knew that the older man was hiding something from him. And that something is that he's talking a lot with a mysterious person. But the situation was serious. And it's not like he was different. He was hiding from his brother whom he talk and hung out from time to time with the mechanic he fixed his car a couple of weeks ago.

"What happened with knocking Dan Heng" Dan Feng said and he rolled his eyes as he walked to his brother. "And since when you are gossiping with people? I thought you were introverted"

"I didn't gossip, "Dan Heng said leaning against Dan Feng's desk. "I heard some people talking when I was retrieving some documents, "he said seriously. "There's someone in the company that has some problems "

"What kind of problems?"Dan Feng asked concerned.

"Like up here," he said pointing at his head. "They want to get close to you. Be together with you, live their life with you. From what I heard they sound pretty obsessive. I think that you should do something about it "And that something is firing them.

Dan Feng sighed and all the concern faded. "A small advice little brother. Don't listen to some gossip. Some people have nothing better to do than talk nonsense about people they don't like. And to get them in trouble "

"Are you sure it's nonsense Dan Feng?" Dan Heng asked. If his brother was not worried about him that doesn't mean he wasn't. Especially since it's about a weirdo who's obsessed with his brother.

"Yes. I assure you that it's only nonsense. Now. Go back to work "

"So how is my favorite client today?"Yingxing asked with a smirk and the man at the counter rolled his eyes. But he could see the light flush on his face.

"So. I'm only a client to you?"

"Of course no, baby. You know that you are the most important person to me. My sweet darling. Sweater then my pastry. Warmer than my hot chocolate"

"Alright stop it," the other man said and he covered his face to hide his flushing and muffle his laughter. "Your way of flirting or complimenting is so weird", he said but without any ill intent.

"I'm hurt, baby. Really hurt" he said sarcastically as he prepared some coffee. "So. Would you tell me now how was your day?"

"Busy as ever. But it's nothing new. Also this morning Dan Heng had come into my office to tell me that some employee is obsessed with me "he said as he ate some strawberry pastry. 

Yingxing froze as he heard that. And he looked concerned. "Shouldn't you do something about this Dan Feng?" he asked as put the coffee in front of Dan Feng. "It sounds concerning."

Dan Feng. "Yingxing. Please don't turn like my brother. I assure you it's nothing. People tend to gossip and spread rumors about people they don't like. "He assured Yingxing as he took a sip from the coffee. "Now can we please just enjoy each other presence without worrying about stupid things? I will have to go back to the company again soon"

Yingxing sighed. He was still worried. But he decided to indulge Dan Feng for now.

When Dan Feng arrived home, yet once again after his brother, after midnight, he expected for his brother to be asleep. It had been a tiresome day for both of them

 But he could see light coming from the fireplace from the living room and his brother talking with someone on the phone. 

"My brother is home. Talk with you later" Dan Heng said immediately and he ended the call immediately Dan Feng walked inside the living room with a smirk.

"You should have continued your conversation. You shouldn't have minded me "

"We finished what we had to talk about anyway, "Dan Heng said and Dan Feng knew immediately that his little brother was lying. "Coming home late again" Changing the subject again. Typical of his little brother. Well. If Dan Heng can do that why couldn't Dan Feng too?

"You know. You should invite your mysterious person here one day. So I can meet them" he said which made Dan Heng splutter.

"I don't know what you are talking about ", he said crossing his arms.

"The person you talked to on the phone "

"He's just a friend "Sure he is.

"Alright. Invite your friend over one day" he said and he smirked when he saw his little brother blushing. But what Dan Heng said next was something that took him by surprise. Even though he should have known it.

"Alright. I will do it. But if you invite your mysterious person over as well. Don't try to deny it. I know that you talk with someone in secret as well." That sneaky little brat.

"Alright then. Christmas is in a few days. We would call them both here and celebrate Christmas together. Deal?"

"Deal"

Unfortunately, their plan was ruined because they had to go to another country for a business trip. One company that Dan Feng wanted to have a partnership with, wants to have a meeting face to face with both the CEO and COO.  And of course, the CEO of that company wants to meet this week or they would decline the offer for partnership.  And they had to travel to Japan.

"Don't be disappointed little brother" Dan Feng said driving towards the airport with his brother in the passenger seat. "I'm sure that Christmas would be great in Japan as well. And we can reschedule our plans with our friends for New Year. '

"That if the CEO doesn't want to hold us for the New Year as well. You know. Party to celebrate the partnership if they agree. I don't even understand why you want to partner with them. I heard the CEO is not exactly the best person"

"The CEO might not be. But having a partnership with that company would help our company. "

"Our company is worldwide. Why does it need help?"

"You can never be sure when a partnership can come in hand"

Dan Heng sighed and he kept quiet because he knew that his brother was right. Even though he wants to spend the first Christmas with Blade.

And Dan Feng understands his little brother. Because he wants to spend his first Christmas with Yingxing. Maybe one day when they won't have to travel for a business trip, Yingxing would want to come along. Same for his brother's friend

"Well hello there boys. Come in. Come in"Baiheng said with a smile as she welcomed her sons into the house. Yingxing was carrying a box with a cake and Blade had some cookies. "What brings you here my darlings" she asked with a smile as she hugged her two boys. Her boys are adults now. They've been adults for a while. But she was still surprised her how her boys aren't boys anymore. But men 

"Well, mom. We decided to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with you"Blade said as he put the cookie plate on the kitchen counter.

"There are still a couple of more days until then though "

"Yeah. Well, we have decided to let you know from time. But if you have something else planned then we understand "Yingxing said. 

"That's nonsense. I don't have anything planned. But even if I did I would have cancelled it immediately over you. And no. I don't want to hear it. My sons are my priority. Though I don't want to sound like I'm not happy that we will spend Christmas together again. Both of you are adults now. Don't you have anyone special in your life to spend it with?"

Yingxing and Blade looked at each other before both answered at the same time. "No". And it wasn't exactly a full lie. They couldn't spend Christmas with whoever they wanted. They will still have invited their mother too. 

"Alright, "She said even though she wasn't fully believing them. "I have a surprise for you," she said happily and she opened the fridge and pulled out a gingerbread house. "Voila. My special gingerbread house", she said with excitement which made Blade and Yingxing happy. Her special gingerbread house was always something that she did for Christmas. Since their first Christmas with her. Back then she even let her have some before Christmas. As a treat. Even though they both knew that it was to gain their trust more. Maybe they won't be able to spend Christmas with Dan Heng and Dan Feng. But that doesn't change the fact that it would be as fun as ever with their mother too.

Chapter Text

Unfortunately for Dan Heng and Dan Feng, they couldn't go back home. Yes. They managed to get a partnership with a company from Japan. Even though the CEO was a pain in the ass. And it took both brothers a lot of work to convince the CEO to agree to the partnership. Apparently for them being there face to face to the meeting wasn't enough. But in the end, they agreed. 

Even though it feels like Dan Heng and Dan Feng were close to giving up and moving on. But now they want to stay for the new year there. Which means that they are stuck in Japan for a while.

"I don't understand why can't they have a celebration party now and have to wait until the new year?"Dan Heng asked annoyed sitting down on the couch in their temporary apartment. Don't get him wrong. He loves Tokyo. The city is beautiful and there are a lot of interesting places to visit. But he misses Blade. And talking on the phone with him it's not the same as talking in person.

"They are probably busy with other meetings. What's wrong little brother? Are you missing home? Or someone else?" he asked with a smirk. Dan Feng knows damn well that Dan Heng doesn't miss home. Especially since he's the one that likes to travel so much. He knows that he misses his 'friend' without his brother telling him. Not that he can blame him. He misses Yingxing as well.

Instead of answering though, Dan Heng stood up from the couch and he walked out from the apartment which made Dan Feng shake his head with a smile. Well, he can call Yingxing and talk a little with him. He hopes he's not asleep.

Dan Heng doesn't like to see poor children or homeless ones. Or people like this in general. Either because he has a big heart or because he knows how bad it is because he grew up like this. And the reason why his life improved was because of his hardworking brother. 

That's why when he sees people like this he tries to help them as much as he can. Either paying for their grocery or handling them some money. And sometimes using some of his ties to get them a job even as a janitor somewhere.

After he left the apartment because he didn't want to deal with his brother's teasing. He went to a convenience store to get some snacks. That's when he was in the line he saw a mother with a son. He doesn't understand much Japanese but he caught some words about how they can buy everything because they do have not enough money.

The other person in front of him was quite annoyed for having to wait until the mother was over. Dan Heng can't handle seeing that. So he passed the rude customer, ignoring what could be swears thrown at him and he told the cashier that he would pay for the mother grocery. Despite her refusal. But he assured her in his broken Japanese that it was alright and he didn't mind. And he refused the mother's proposal of paying him back. The happy look on the little boy's face was enough of a payback

Yingxing just finished with his lunch rush on a Sunday. He was surprised that after New Year there were people who would come to a cafe for coffee or hot chocolate and pastry. As much as he wanted to spend Christmas and New Year with Dan Feng, he still very much enjoyed spending with his mother and brother. Remember about his teenage years after he and Blade got adopted by her.

Yingxing managed to sit down for a couple of minutes when the door opened again. He sighed. Back to work, he guesses. But when he saw who it was a smile spread on his face. 

"Did you miss me?" the person said with a smile of his own, holding a small bag in one hand. Yingxing walked from behind the counter and he cupped the other man's face and pressed a soft kiss on his lips. That turned passionate immediately. "I guess that you did," he said breathing heavily and his face was flushed.

"Not that I am not happy to see you, Dan Feng. But I never expected to show up for a while"

"We finally managed to finish the business in Japan. As much as it was beautiful, neither me nor my brother wanted to stay there more than it was necessary"Dan Feng said walking to the counter and he sat down on a chair.

"So I take that you got the partnership"

"Yes, I did. Btw. This is for you" he said putting the small bag that he was carrying on the table.

Yingxing was pretty surprised and he didn't move or said anything for a few seconds. "I. You shouldn't have brought me anything. "

"Nonsense. It's not like it's much" he said and Yingxing wondered what is Dan Feng's definition of not too much. Yingxing went and sat down beside Dan Feng and he grabbed the bag and opened it. There were a couple of boxes there. One larger, the other medium and two small. 

He pulled all the boxes on the table. When he opened the first one he saw that it was a box of different types of chocolate candies. That was the medium one. The big one was with different types of cookies. "I never expected so much sweet" he said and Dan Feng looked like he made a mistake buying all this. "Hey," he said and he took Dan Feng's hand and squeezed it to reassure him. "You know that I enjoy sweats a lot. Even if I hadn't tasted them yet I know that there would be good"

When he opened one of the smaller boxes he found a few pieces of paper. He raised an eyebrow and he looked confused at Dan Feng. "I kind of bought some pastry recipes from shops in Japan. They are pretty tasty. And you can have them here and might make your cafe even more popular than it is. You don't need to use them if you don't want to*

Yingxing chuckled a little. "I'm definitely going to use them. It was time for a change anyway. " When he grabbed the other small box he expected more sweets or other recipes. His eyes widened when he saw a golden bracelet with red stones, that are definitely rubies. "Dan Feng. This is definitely too much"

"Nonsense", he said waving a hand. " I will not accept a refusal. And definitely won't take it back. Especially since it's from Japan. Plus. We will match" he said pulling his sleeve to see a similar bracelet.

"Thank you, my love," he said with a fond smile and he pressed a small kiss on Dan Feng's lips before he put the bracelet on. "I love it. I love everything"

Dan Heng and Blade were in Blade's room from his and Yingxing's house. Yes. They still live together. Even if they have enough money from their business, both of them find it pointless to live separately. For now. Dan Heng after he returned from Japan he went to Blade shop and was welcomed with a deep kiss and tight hug. His brother wasn't home so Blade had took Dan Heng to his house for some fun.

Now the two of them were cuddled on the bed. Dan Heng was resting against Blade's chest and Blade was caressing his waist. They were recovering from the intense fun. On the bedside table were two pieces of a jade pendant that belong to Blade and Dan Heng. When united they form a whole. A gift from Dan Heng that was matching with his own. As well as a new phone. 

Blade said that his phone was still good. No Blade. If you have to smack your phone with your hand a couple of times for it to work, then it isn't good. He also said that he doesn't need a new phone but Dan Heng didn't accept a refusal. He also bought him some chocolate candy that was in the fridge. 

"I'm going to prepare a bath for both of us"Blade said and he made a move to get out of the bed but his lover whined and wrapped an arm tight around Blade, clinging to him. Which made the other man chuckle.

"Do you really have to?"

"Yes, my love. We are both dirty from our fun. Don't worry. We can bath together" he reassured him as he kissed Dan Heng's head. Dan Heng finally let go of Blade. Even though he was hesitant.

When Blade got up from the bed and turned with his back at him, Dan Heng gasped when he saw several scars on his back. He didn't notice them before because of the heat of the moment. "Blade. Why do you have so many scars on your back?" he asked worriedly as he lifted himself in a sitting position.

Blade tensed as he heard Dan Heng's words. Those scars are from his first adopted father who used the belt on him and hit him so hard that he left scars. He hadn't told Dan Heng anything about his past life because he hadn't found a reason to do it. "It's nothing. Don't worry about it."

"But.." Dan Heng started but he was stopped by Blade.

"Drop it Dan Heng "Blade snapped and Dan Heng tensed which made Blade feel guilty. He sighed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you. But I don't want to talk about it. "

"It's alright. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry".

"One day I will probably tell you. But now I'm not ready "Blade said before he walked into the bathroom to prepare the bath. Dan Heng laid back in the bed and he wondered what happened with Blade in the past.

A few days later both brothers prepared to meet with their lovers at a fancy restaurant after work. None of them expected to see each other at the same restaurant.

"Blade. What are you doing here?"Yingxing asked as he got up from the car and spotted his little brother doing the same.

"Definitely the same thing you are doing. I'm here for a date with my lover. I never expected that you would be together with someone though. I thought you would die alone" He teased which earned him a slap upside his head from Yingxing.

If finding out that they are meeting the lovers at the same restaurant was surprising. When they got inside and found their lovers was even surprising.

"Dan Heng? Dan Feng?" The two brothers said looking at the two men that looked pretty similar except for  the length of their hair and clothes, as well as eye colour, standing by each other side.

Chapter Text

Blade and Yingxing looked shocked at the two men in front of them who were side by side. They are their lovers. They looked pretty alike. Except that Dan Feng has long hair and Dan Heng has short. Dan Heng was dressed more relaxed and casually. With a green hoodie and grey pants. But Dan Feng was dressed the opposite. With a white shirt and black suit jacket and black pants. Probably how rich people dress around here. 

By the look of it, Dan Feng and Dan Heng are in the same situation when they see Blade and Yingxing. And how they also look the same. Except for the hair and eye colour. Both are also dressed pretty casually. 

"We should probably get inside. We are blocking other people's access"Dan Feng was the first who broke the silence. The four men walked inside following a waitress that brought them to their table. That Dan Feng asked to have them united seeing that they are together here. 

"When I was thinking about my brother's lover. I didn't expect that he would be the brother of mine "Dan Feng said sitting down beside Yingxing. And Dan Heng sat down beside Blade.

"You aren't the only one. Imagine me and Blade's surprise when we saw you two. You look pretty alike. Are you twins as well"

"No. Actually, I'm younger than Dan Feng of 6 years" Dan Heng said. "Why we look so alike."He shrugged. "We are weirdos I guess" he said with a chuckle. It's not like they have anyone to ask. "So you are twins then"

"Yes, we are, "Blade said. Then he turned his attention to his brother. "I must say, brother. You have great taste in men", he said with a smirk

One that Yingxing matched with his own. "Same as here," he said and their lovers groaned and covered their faces.

Despite the weird discovery that they are dating brothers, it was still quite an enjoyable evening date and dinner. Except for the food.

"How can you rich people eat this?" Yingxing said as he poked at his stake. That was more like a small slice of stake with a couple of mini vegetables and some sauce. "And not being hungry anymore"

"Ask Dan Feng. He's the one that likes to come to these places."Dan Heng said as he chewed his food. "And then saying that he's full. The food is not even that good"

"One day brother. I wish that one day you won't complain about the place I pick to eat"Dan Feng said and Dan Heng just rolled his eyes and continued to eat his food before he turned towards Blade to chat with him. 

After their main course was over they got their dessert followed by a wine refill. And if the so-called stake was outrageous the dessert was even more. It was some little cake with a couple of fruits and some chocolate syrup on the side. 

"My brother's pastries are better", Blade said and Dan Heng snorted into the glass of wine when he saw the beaten look on his brother's face. That's the only one that actually likes that place.

The two couples stayed there for a while even after finishing their desert. Just talking and drinking wine. They would probably have to take a taxi. Even if Blare and Dan Feng have a strong resistance to alcohol, they start feeling a little tipsy as well.

They are still more awake though than Dan Heng who was falling asleep on Blade's shoulders and Yingxing who was telling random jokes, that weren't even funny and was trying to kiss Dan Feng from time to time. But it was safer to take a taxi.

Dan Feng asked for the note and when the waiter brought it, he swiped his card and paid for their meal. Then he took his phone and called for two taxis. " I called for two taxis. You can take your brother home and I will take mine" Dan Feng said standing up and he was about to help Dan Heng up but he was stopped by Blade.

"Actually. I was thinking of taking Dan Heng with me" Blade said. Which made Dan Feng glare at his brother's lover. His protective instinct erased even the little bit of tipsyness.

"And why should I let you take my little brother? Especially when he's in this vulnerable situation"

Right. Blade was expecting to this. He swears that Dan Feng is emanating more ferocious protectiveness than Yingxing used to when they were kids.

"I promise that I will definitely not take advantage of Dan Heng in this situation. "He doesn't even know why he wants for Dan Heng to come with him. Actually, he does. Because he feels warm and comfortable sleeping with his lover in his arms. He feels relaxed.

Dan Feng narrowed his eyes and Blade could swear that he was looking into his soul with his sharp eyes. "Fine. You can take him. But I will know if you hurt him. "He said and Blade nodded

 When Dan Heng would be sober he would have to let him know how scary his brother is.

Blade picked Dan Heng up in his arms, gently. His lover was shorter and more lighter than him. Plus Blase has a muscular build from his work as a mechanic. He pressed Dan Heng close to his chest and he carried him out from the restaurant.

"Alright. Let's go Yingxing ", Dan Feng said. If Blare would take Dan Heng to his home then he would take Yingxing to the apartment. Yingxing was mumbling some drunken nonsense and was laughing by himself. He grabbed his lover's arm and put it over his shoulder before he raised the man from the chair 

And he stumbled because of the weight. Yingxing was a little taller than him. But he hadn't expected to be this heavy too. Why was a barista so muscular? For the first time, he hates that Yingxing has muscle. Especially when they are dead weight. He struggled to carry Yingxing out from the restaurant. There was only a taxi outside and Dan Heng and Blade were gone. Meaning that they took the first taxi. Dan Feng supported Yingxing to the taxi and got him inside before he followed as well and he told the driver the location of his penthouse.

After Dan Feng arrived home he brought Yingxing to his bedroom. It won't be the first time the other man was there. And he laid him on the bed before he dropped on the other side of the bed. He was exhausted. Yingxing was completely passed out now and he had been heavier than he was when he supported him out from the restaurant.

Luckily the elevator was working. Because if he had to climb four floors to his penthouse with a dead-weight muscle mass he would have been dead. He would probably have dragged Yingxing on the stairs by his feet. And he wasn't kidding.

He stayed in the bed for a couple of more minutes to catch his breath before he went into the bathroom to shower and change into something more comfortable. 15 minutes later he was out and dressed in sleepwear clothing before he sat down at his desk and opened the laptop. He knew that he should probably sleep because tomorrow morning he had to go to the company. But he wants to finish some quick work before he goes to sleep. At least Yingxing was sleeping peacefully on one side of the bed.

Well. He slept peacefully. For probably less than an hour. Then he started moving in the bed and mumbled unintelligible words. In the beginning, Dan Feng ignored and he thought that it was drunk mumbling or sleep-talking. But then he started trashing and became more distressed. That's when Dan Feng got worried. He could tell that it was a nightmare.

Dan Heng used to get a lot of these as a child. Even now, though he learned to hide it. Dan Feng jumped from the chair and rushed to his lover's side. "Yingxing", he said softly and he put a hand on his shoulder to shake him awake. But immediately he touched him he jumped awake. He flinched away from him and he was shaking. He was looking frantically around the room in search for something or someone. He was definitely confused about his surroundings. Not recognizing at first.

"Hey. Hey. Yingxing"Dan Feng said calmly as he hesitantly put a hand on his lover's shoulder. "Ok. It's ok. You're with me. Safe" he said soothingly. He used the same words he used to use on his brother. Hopefully, they would work on him too.

"Dan Feng.."Yingxing said after a couple of minutes. They worked. He was still shaking and his voice was cracking. But at least he could recognize him.

Dan Feng smiled softly at him. "Yes, love. It's me. You're alright" he said and he moved his free hand and he ran his fingers through Yingxing soft white locks. "You're alright," he said softly. 

"I'm sorry," Yingxing said as he rubbed his eyes to get rid of the tears that were pricking at his eyes. And he rubbed his forehead. Most likely his head was hurting from the alcohol.

Dan Feng rolled his eyes. "Don't apologize about something like this. Do.." Dan Feng was a bit hesitant. Maybe because he doesn't want to sound pushy. "Want to talk about it?"

Yingxing tensed when he heard the question. And Dan Feng was ready to take it back. But before he could do that Yingxing spoke again. "It's from my past. My childhood" he said before he turned quiet.

Dan Feng hoped that his next words would sound like he was encouraging Yingxing to talk about it. And not force him. "When I was a teen and my brother was 6 years old. Our parents died in a car crash " he started and Yingxing lifted his head and looked surprised at him.

"Dan Feng. You don't…"

"I knew that me and my brother would probably be taken by the CPS and put in an orphanage. And there was a chance that we would be taken away from each other. So I encouraged him to run away with me. We were both kids. And we were homeless for probably a year and a half. Maybe more. Before I managed to afford renting a small apartment for us when I got a job."

"Me and Blade. We were abandoned by our parents when we were five"Yingxing started and Dan Feng squeezed his hand reassuringly. " Foster homes didn't keep us more than a couple of months for some reason. And people didn't want to adopt the both of us. When we finally got adopted. Both us. It had been a temporary Heaven. Things turned bad and our adoptive father became drunk and abusive "

Dan Heng sucked in his breath when he heard that. He had noticed some scars on his lovers when they had their passionate nights. But he thought that they were from work. That maybe he had other jobs before opening a cafe. He should have known better. "I tried to protect my brother from that man. Even though he's my twin, he's still younger and it's my job as his older brother to protect him." Yingxing continued and he covered his face. 

"It's ok. It's alright. He's not going to hurt you and your brother anymore"Dan Feng said and he hugged Yingxing. Yingxing didn't hesitate to hug him back and he buried his face in his shoulder. He didn't comment about how his shoulder was getting damp from his lover's tears. He tightened his arms around him and he pressed his lips on his temple and kissed and whispered sweet nothings.

After a while, surprisingly Yingxing fell asleep again on his shoulder.  He thought that he would have to try hard to make him convince to go back to sleep. He held him in his arms for a few more minutes before he laid him back on the bed and covered him with a blanket. And if  Dan Feng stayed awake all night to look after Yingxing and make sure that he didn't have any more nightmares. Well, no one needs to know that.

Chapter Text

Dan Heng groaned as he started to wake up. His head was killing him. It felt like someone was hammering non-stop in his skull. Probably that's what woke him up. He opened his eyes slowly to see that he was in Blade's bedroom. The room was dark and was illuminated only by the moonlight. 

The last thing he remembered was the double date at the fancy restaurant. Where he drink a little more wine than necessary. That makes him remember to stay away from alcohol from now on. 

So that means that Blade brought him to his home. He was surprised that Dan Feng even left him when he was drunk and vulnerable. It's not like Blade would do anything to him. But Dan Feng is very overprotective. Even now when they are grown up. Looking at the digital clock on the nightstand he could see that it was past midnight.

He groaned when he felt another wave of pain in his head and he raised one hand to rub his forehead. He heard some movements and mumbling behind him. That's when Dan Heng realized that Blade was sleeping behind him. The other man has an arm wrapped around his waist and his chest is pressed to Dan Heng's back. Normally Dan Heng would enjoy basking in his lover's warmth and cuddling with him.

But now he was hurting and he felt hot and sweaty. He removed Blade's arm from around his waist gently and then got up from the bed slowly to not wake him up. Dan Heng walked out from the bedroom quietly and he made his way through the dark house in the kitchen.

He would not turn any light on. He doesn't need more pain and discomfort. Once in the kitchen he used the light from the moon and managed to find the cabinet where he knew Blade and Yingxing keep their medicine. He grabbed some pills for his head and ate them dry. Then he sat down on a chair and waited for them to kick in. He was grateful that he wasn't feeling nauseous as well on top of the killer headache.

After probably around 15 minutes his headache had died down enough for him to be able to stand up and get back in Blade's bedroom. When he got there his eyes widened when he saw Blade in the bed awake. He was shaking and gasping and his hair was sticking to his forehead. "Blade", Dan Heng said worriedly as he rushed to his side. "Blade. What's wrong?" he asked and he put a hand on his shoulder.

Only for the older man to flinch and smack his hand away. "Don't touch me "He wasn't sounding mean or angry. More like frightened.

Before Dan Heng could have said anything else Blade jumped from the bed and he rushed into the bathroom where he locked himself in. "Blade" Dan Heng rushed after him and he knocked at the bathroom door. "Blade. What's wrong love?" he asked but his lover wasn't answering to him.

Dan Heng pressed his ear on the door. He could hear the water from the sink running, and his lover was mumbling and cursing. And he sounded like he was crying as well. And Dan Heng was getting even more worried because he didn't know what was going on and his lover was not saying anything.

What made him even more worried and scared was when he heard shattering glass. "Blade. Open the door. Please" he pleaded as he was hitting the door right now, hoping that Blade would unlock it. But nothing. "Please Blade. Please, my beloved. Open the door. I'm worried sick about you", he pleaded, his forehead pressed against the door. If Blade does not unlock the door. He would find a way to break it.

A couple of minutes had passed and Dan Heng moved away to find something to break the door. But then he heard the lock to the door. Hesitant Dan Heng pressed on the doorknob and the bathroom door opened.

When he walked inside his eyes widened when he saw the mirror shattered. There was blood on it. Blood on the sink as well as bloody shards.

He gasped when he saw his lover on the ground against the wall. His face was flushed and tear streaked and his left hand was bleeding. "Blade", he said worriedly and rushed to his side, being careful to not step on the shards on the floor

"What's wrong? What happened?" He asked worriedly and he kneeled in front of his lover. He cupped his face to make Blade look at him. But Blade pulled his face away and he turned his head away from Dan Heng. Dan Heng's attention turned to the bleeding hand. "You punched the mirror". It wasn't a question. "C'mon. Let's go back in the bedroom"

Dan Heng grabbed Blade by his uninjured hand and tried to get him up from the floor. He thought that his lover would protest. But he stood up. "Easy", he said softly and he helped Blade back in the bedroom. Once there he returned back to the bathroom and grabbed some antiseptic, bandages, wet cloth and tweezers.

He turned on the light in the bedroom and sat down beside Blade and grabbed his injured hand. Blade was keeping his head down and he didn't said anything. He flinched a little and was tense when he started to clean his hand of blood. "It's ok", he whispered gently. His touch was soft and careful as he cleaned the wounds with the wet washcloth.

Then he grabbed the tweezers and started pulling the shards from his hand. Luckily they weren't many and big enough so he could see them. When he grabbed some cotton and antiseptic to clean the wound Blade hissed and he tried to pull his hand back.

"Shh. It's ok", Dan Heng said and his hold on Blade's wrist turned firm to stop him. "It would be over soon", he soothed his lover as he continued to clean the wound. "It would be over soon," he said before he continued to clean it. After he was finished he bandaged the wound and pressed a kiss to it. 

He threw everything in the trash and walked away from the bedroom and returned seconds later with a glass of water and put it on the nightstand.

Dan Heng returned almost half an hour later after he finished cleaning in the bathroom. And he sighed relieved when he saw that Blade looked a little more better. Which made him sigh relived.

"Hey", Dan Heng said with a small smile. "I'm back. "He said and he sat down on the bed edge. "Mind telling me what happened?" He asked hoping that his lover would talk with him.

But Blade remained quiet and he looked at everything but Dan Heng. "Blade. Please. You broke a mirror. I'm worried" he said and he cupped the other man's face with one hand. "Talk with me"

Blade stayed quiet for a couple of more seconds before he started speaking. "It was a nightmare. About my past" he said and Dan Heng grabbed his uninjured hand and squeezed it as encouragement. "It wasn't entirely the best childhood"

"Tell me. I promise I won't judge you" His own childhood wasn't sunshine and rainbows. So he knew that he didn't have the right to judge his lover. 

"Me and Yingxing had been orphaned since we were 5. No one wanted us. Even in the foster homes, we were kept for a couple of months and then returned like used clothes. When we finally got adopted it was beautiful. But it didn't last. Because some things happened, our adoptive mother left and our adoptive father turned to alcohol and became abusive"

Dan Heng's breath hitched when he heard that. He still had one hand on Blade's cheek. And he could feel it getting wet as Blade shed new tears. "Blade", he said and he wrapped his arms around his lover. Blade buried his face in Dan Heng's shoulder and Dan Heng held him as tight as he could. "Your scars", he said looking at Blade back. He moved one hand and traced his fingers across some of them.

Blade flinched a little but he didn't look like he was uncomfortable. "They are from him. Yingxing used to protect me as best as he could. But he couldn't always be here. And there were times when I was alone with him and he used his belt on me" he said and Dan Heng tightened his hold more on Blade. He lowered his head and pressed a kiss on one of the scars.

Dan Heng thought that he had a hard life. He did. But in some twisted way, he thinks that he has more luck with his childhood than Yingxing and Blade. "It's over now. You're safe. He can't hurt you or your brother anymore", he said soothingly. He held Blade in his arms in complete silence for a couple of minutes before he spoke again. "The nightmare.."

"It was about my childhood yes. I feel pathetic. I'm a grown-ass man and cry about something that happened in my childhood", he snorted.

"No. Blade."Dan Heng pulled away and he cupped Blade's face and he looked at him sternly. "You are anything but pathetic or weak. What you went through. It's traumatizing. Even if it was when you were a child. It doesn't go away by miracle"

"It should. It shouldn't affect me now that I'm an adult "

"It's not true ", he sighed. "When I was a child. My and Dan Feng's parents died in a car crash. We had to run away from the system and we have been homeless for a while. Even though I wasn't when it happened. And I don't even remember my parent's faces anymore "Something that a couple of years made him have a breakdown and it took Dan Feng a couple of hours to calm him down." Sometimes. I have nightmares about the crash. Like I was there. And saw two blurry figures dying. My point is. You are never too old to be traumatized by what happened in your childhood

 And never pathetic for not fully recovering "

Dan Heng finished before he wrapped Blade back into his arms. He had seen in the other man's eyes that he was still uncertain. That a part of him was still feeling pathetic for being affected. And that made Dan Heng determined to let Blade know every time that he wasn't weak or pathetic. Until he would finally understand.

They stayed like this for a while. Until he feels Blade's weight getting heavier on him. Which means that he fell back asleep. He laid Blade back down on the bed before he turned off the light and got in the bed with him. He pulled him closer as he went back to sleep as well, hoping that his presence would protect his lover from having any more nightmares tonight. It did.

Chapter Text

After the event where Blade and Yingxing talked about what happened in their childhood with their lovers, it seems that in some way they got closer to Dan Feng and Dan Heng. It was even more relaxing and refreshing to go to sleep with them and not be worried that they would wake their lovers up because of the nightmares.

And they know that they won't judge them and they have no reason to be ashamed. Well. Yingxing does. But Blade. Well. That's another story. Even despite the talk he had that night with Dan Heng. And the reassurance from his lover. He still couldn't help but still feel ashamed if he had a nightmare. Worse when he wakes up Dan Heng with it too. Despite Dan Heng's "I don't care about my sleep. I don't mind being woken up as long as I can help you", words. 

Dan Heng doesn't mind him needing to remind Blade that all the time. Like how he really doesn't mind being woken up by the nightmares. He loves Blade. And he wants to help him as much as he can with his trauma. And he knew that Dan Feng was doing the same with Yingxing. The difference was that Yingxing is less stubborn.

Now that Dan Heng and Dan Feng are aware of each other lovers, they do tend to have double dates. However, this time they stayed away from fancy restaurants. If they go to one, it would be less fancy where the food is not the size of bird food.

There are times when their date is just hanging out at Yingxing cafe when he doesn't have clients or he's closing faster. Or even at Dan Heng and Dan Feng Penthouse. Just watching a movie, cuddling with their lovers.

Now. For the weekend they planned another date. They would go to an amusement park that was recently opened. But that is for later. Because now Dan Heng found something that he doesn't if it's concerning or not. Knowing Dan Feng he would probably brush it aside. But he still needs to tell him. If he doesn't know already.

"Dan Feng" Dan Heng said as he walked into his brother's office with his tablet open. His brother was working on the laptop and when he walked in he turned all his attention to Dan Heng.

"What's wrong?" he asked frowning when he saw the slight worry in his little brother's face. "Please don't tell me that you listened to those rumors again" Since that day his brother had come to him two times with the same concern about some employee being obsessed with him.

Something that he brushed as nothing. Because it's nothing. He already explained this to his brother. "No. This is different. Look" Dan Heng placed the tablet in front of Dan Feng, on a news page. And it was an article about him.

          Famous Worldwide CEO spotted

               going and leaving a regular cafe

Dan Feng's head was already hurting by reading that dumb headline. He hates himself for even bothering to read a little from the article.

      "Famous Worldwide CEO Dan Feng was spotted going and leaving a regular coffee shop for the past months. Is it really the coffee there that good? Or does the CEO have other motive?"

"Alright. I had enough "Dan Feng said closing the tablet and handing it back to his brother. "This is the important thing you had to show me?"Dan Feng asked and his brother nodded. He sighed. "Dan Heng. This is pure garbage "

"But the article is right about you going there because you have a relationship with Yingxing "

"Yeah. So. I'm a CEO. Not some celebrity that needs to be worried about dating scandals. Dan Heng. I promise you that it's nothing "

Dan Heng wasn't surprised that his brother brushed it as nothing. "Do you even know how the picture of you going in the cafe was taken?"

Dan Feng shrugged. "Probably some random person who recognized me and decided to make some easy money. It's nothing. I promise " 

Dan Feng said that. But a part of Dan Heng was worried that this article was the beginning of something bad that would happen.

The day for their double date has come. And for this to happen, Dan Feng had given everyone from the company all the weekend off and Blade and Yingxing closed their business a little earlier. 

Now all four of them were at the amusement park ready to enjoy all day. "So. Where should we go first?"Yingxing asked as he looked around. Because the park was newly opened there were a lot of people and the lines were long. 

"Hmm. Let's go to the haunted house. The line there is shorter"Dan Feng said with an amused smirk as he turned around and Yingxing wondered why he was so amused. But before he could ask he had to grab his lover by his arm to not fall because Dan Heng kicked him in the back of his legs which made his knees buckle. "Ow. What's that for?"Dan Feng asked as he turned around to face his glaring brother.

"You know what it's for, "He said. Dan Heng doesn't like scary stuff. Even the most stupidest jump scare, scare him. And Dan Feng knows that. And yet his traitorous brother decided to go there first.

"Alright, guys. We are here to have fun. Let's not fight"Blade said gently and he grabbed Dan Heng and pulled him close before he walked towards the haunted house with Yingxing and Dan Feng close behind.

Dan Heng despises his brother with all his being right now. Unfortunately, the wait to get inside the haunted house was short. And they got in after 10 minutes of waiting.

Now walking through the dark corridor of the house he was nothing more than to kick his older brother's house. When Dan Feng barely jumped at the scars and he chuckled amused with Yingxing, Dan Heng was flinching violently, his heart jumping from how chest all the time. And his old on Blade wrist was so tight, it probably buried him.

"Shit", he cursed when some ghost prop appeared in front of him and his heart was beating like crazy.

"You know we can go back. You don't need to keep going if you are scared" Blade said and Dan Heng turned to face him with a glare, expecting to see an amused expression. But his lover's expression was just soft.

He sighed. "No. It's fine. I don't think that we have much anyway" he said even though he was half tempted to take that offer. But he doesn't want to deal with his older brother's teasing. 

"Alright", Blade said and he wrapped an arm around Dan Heng's shoulders and pulled him closer. Dan Heng could feel himself be more relaxed. But his relaxation was soon replaced by annoyance when Blade started speaking again and his tone was amused. "I will protect you from these big bad dangers" Dan Heng groaned and he elbowed his lover in the stomach before he pulled away from his side and continued the journey.

  "I hate you, "Dan Heng said with his brother once they all got out from the haunted house. His older brother only laughed.

And as a payback for making him being stuck in a horror house for what felt like an eternity, next, Dan Heng picked one of the fastest rides that existed in the park

 And even if they had to wait for almost 20 minutes, for Dan Heng it was worth it when after the ride, Dan Feng was puking his guts in a trash can bin, with Yingxing holding back his hair with one hand and rubbing his back with another. 

"I hate you, "Dan Feng said groaning after he finished throwing up and Dan Heng only looked amused.

Blade and Yingxing at some point had to step in and stop their lovers from theorizing themselves with the rides that affect the other more. And decided to go only on calm and smooth one. That won't scare them or make them sick.

And it was definitely more enjoyable. They went on different rides and ate some street food. That was actually pretty good for some amusement park food.

They finally decided that it was time to go home several hours later when it was getting darker because they were all getting tired. It was a fun day and they promised that they would return again the next day.

Unfortunately, their happiness was ruined, when they left the park, and someone called Dan Feng's name. 

 Dan Feng was confused and he stopped walking and he looked behind him to see a man that he swore he knew but he couldn't remember. "I know that it was you, sir. My eyes weren't tricking me. Oh and the COO is here too" the man said.

Then Dan Feng realized that it was one of his employees from the company. "Oh. Good evening", he said politely. "Unfortunately if you want something or need help with anything you would have to wait until Monday," he said trying to not be rude. But he doesn't want to deal with anything work-related right now.

"Oh. No. I know"The man said and he walked closer to Dan Feng. Making the CEO a little uncomfortable. Enough to back away into Yingxing. He thought that maybe the man took his cue and he would back away. He didn't. "I just wanted to say hello. That's all. "

"Well. You did" Yingxing said, wrapping an arm around Dan Feng's waist and pulling him closer. He could feel how tense his lover was. The man moving closer made Dan Feng uncomfortable. He rubbed his thumb on Dan Feng's waist soothingly. There was something dark on that weird man's face that passed away fast. "Now excuse us. We have to go home"

"Right, "Fortunately the man didn't protest or tried anything. "My apologies," he said. But he didn't turn around to leave. So Yingxing left first, pulling Dan Feng after him. His brother and Dan Heng followed close behind.

"Are you alright love?" he asked Dan Feng after they put enough distance between them and the weirdo.

"Of course. Why shouldn't I be" he said as if it was nothing. But Yingxing could still feel that his lover was a little tense, which made him pull even closer as they continued to walk

A week later Yingxing was at his coffee shop, cleaning his counter after the evening rush was over and there was no one in the shop anymore

 His attention snapped to the door when it opened and a middle-aged man walked inside.

"Good evening sir. How can I help you?" Yingxing asked with a smile.

"Good evening. I'm Dan Feng driver"Weird. Dan Feng never told him that he had a driver. He always thought that he drove his own car. Oh well. "He asked me to come and pick you up and take you to his company"

"Take you to his company? Why? Something happened?"Yingxing asked worriedly. It was out of blue. It's not like he hadn't been at the company. He has been. A couple of times with Blade to visit it. But he was never asked by his lover to go there.

"Nothing is wrong. He just asked for his presence"

"Alright. Guess I have to close earlier today. Just give me some time to finish here"Yingxing said and the man nodded before he walked away. Yingxing finished everything he had to do before closing. It took him probably around half an hour before he walked out from the cafe and locked it.

The driver was waiting for him in front of a Honda car. It was very different compared with Dan Feng's usual fancy cars. But Yingxing didn't question it. He should have. 

He got in the car in the passenger seat. And immediately he did he started to get a weird sensation. But before he could say or do something he felt something pricking him at his neck. And in a matter of seconds, he was swallowed by darkness.

Chapter Text

Dan Feng is so beautiful. The most beautiful man that he ever laid eyes on. So majestic and elegant. He wants Dan Feng. He wants him only for himself and no one else. No one can have Dan Feng. If Dan Feng can't be his. Then he can't belong to anyone else.

He knew that there were rumors about him being obsessed with the CEO through the company. He's not dumb and neither deaf. But the fact that he wasn't fired from his job, means that the rumors either didn't reach Dan Feng's ears or that Dan Feng doesn't believe them.

He wishes Dan Feng would pay attention to him. Even just a little. But he doubts that he even exists. He's just a low employee from his company. He can barely see him. Because he barely leaves the office.

Even when he has to collect some documents from other workers. It's either his secretary that does it for him or that brother of his. He hates Dan Heng. If his brother didn't exist maybe Dan Feng would come out from his office more often. 

But every time Dan Feng does come out from the office and walk around the floor where he works he can't help but admire the other man. The shape of his body. His slim waist that he wants to grab. The long hair he wants to run his fingers through. The lips that are probably very soft that he wants to kiss. His skin that he wants to caress. But Dan Feng barely looked at him

And even if he does. He gave him a polite nod as a greeting before he walks away. Dan Feng is so perfect. He loves Dan Feng. He wants him.

      His work was pretty easy today and he finished almost everything quickly. So he took a small break. And a part of him was hoping that Dan Feng would come down from his office today.

He scrolled aimlessly on his laptop when he stopped at an article about Dan Feng. He immediately got curious. Unfortunately, he didn't like what he saw. "No. No. No. No" he whispered frantically when he saw that the article was about Dan Feng. His Dan Feng, being a regular to a cafe. And there's a rumor that he might be interested in some person he worked there.

Maybe it's nothing. And he just likes the beverage from there. He looked at the picture with Dan Feng as he walked into the cafe. Even if it's slightly blurry and from a side, he still looks as beautiful and majestic as ever. He refused to continue to read the article. But he continued to scroll to see if there were more pictures of him. And there was one more. That made his blood boil. It was taken through the shop window and he could see Dan Feng from the side again, smiling at the barista.

He looked like a normal smile. He really hoped that it's a normal, polite smile.

It wasn't a normal smile. Dan Feng gave the whole company the weekend free without any explanation. Everyone in the company cheered when they heard that. Because his chances of seeing Dan Feng were even slimmer now.

But he didn't had any other choice. Saturday he went out for a walk around the new amusement park. He didn't bother to get in. Because he never likes these types of things. But he stopped when he saw a familiar person. It was Dan Feng. With his annoying brother and another two men.

Of course, happily, he went to great the beautiful Dan Feng. He didn't even notice that he was making the other man uncomfortable with his closeness. But what made his blood boil was to see one of the unknown men with white hair, grabbing Dan Feng by the waist and pulling him closer. And Dan Feng looked so comfortable.

When he was dismissed and the unknown man took Dan Feng away from him, his blood boiled more. No. He can't believe this. He can't accept the fact that someone already got what he rightfully belongs to him. Dan Feng belongs to him. And no one else. He would have to take care of that pest.

    Fortunately, there are people who would do anything for the right amount of money. And fortunately, he has enough money saved. They were for his future with Dan Feng. But he can sacrifice some for his plan. 

So after a couple of weeks of research, he managed to find out that the man who was with his Dan Feng at the amusement park was the owner of the cafe that his Dan Feng visits regularly. So the article was right. There was definitely another motive for why his Dan Feng visit that place. And definitely not the beverage.

He hired someone to take care of the owner. To kidnap him. He was really positive that his plan would work. And it did. His smile widened when the car parked at his secret location and the man he hired got out from the car and he pulled the unconscious coffee shop owner out from the car as well. Good. Now time for the next step of his plan on getting Dan Feng.

Dan Heng was in his office with Blade. The other man didn't have any work at his garage and decided to pay a visit to his lover. Who abandoned all his work immediately when he saw Blade walking in. 

And now he was pinned against the desk, by his lover, as he was kissed passionately. Lucky he has his door looked

 So no one can come in and bother them. Especially if they would get more frisky. The fun time was ruined though because as Blade was kissing and nipping at at his neck he heard a crash from the other room.

The walls are pretty thin( meaning that if they had gotten frisky, they would have had to be quiet) and you can hear the noise from other offices. And the office beside him belongs to. "Dan Feng" Dan Heng said worriedly as he pushed Blade away from him. He unlocked his office and rushed immediately into his older brother's office worriedly. Followed by Blade.

"Brother. What's wrong? Are you alright?" he asked as he burst into his brother's office to see a mug shattered on the ground. The source of the noise. And his brother looked pale and he was shaking. "Hey," he said and he immediately rushed to his side when he saw that his brother was close to falling on the ground. He grabbed his arm firmly and he sat him down on the chair. "Dan Feng. What's wrong?" he asked his older brother as he brushed his long hair gently from the face. Looking up he could see that Blade was worried as well. 

When he saw that Dan Feng wasn't saying anything, Dan Heng looked around the desk to see what made his older brother get in such shock. He spotted Dan Feng's phone and when he took it and opened it, he gasped. Paling he almost dropped the phone.

"Dan Heng?" Blade said worriedly. "Baby. What's wrong?" he asked. When Blade tried to approach his lover to see what made him so shocked. Which made Dan Heng snap from his shock and hide the phone from Blade's sight.

"I don't think that you need to see it. It's nothing important"Well. It is. But he wants to protect his lover from the sight.

"Saying that would make me want to see it more darling. Give me the phone"he demanded and Dan Heng shook his head and he backed away. His phone was pressed against his chest.

Impatiently Blade rushed at Dan Heng and he wrestled the phone out from his lover's hold. He was stronger and more muscular than Dan Heng so he didn't have any problems.

When he opened the phone and saw the sight he almost fell on the ground. 

It's was a picture. With his older brother. Tied on a chair. Unconscious. And under the picture, it was a message. 

                                               If I can't have you. No one can 

"Blade" Dan Heng said and he immediately grabbed his lover before he could hit the floor and he sat him down on the small couch in the office.

Dan Heng didn't know what he should do. He didn't know what to say. Who to comfort first? What he should do about Yingxing? The smartest solution would be to call the police. But besides the picture and the text, there's no information about where Yingxing's location is. 

At least beside his brother's lover tied to the chair and unconscious, he didn't look harmed. He hoped that it would stay the same. 

Then out of nowhere, Blade jumped from the couch and he went to Dan Feng's desk and he slammed his hands on the desk angrily. "Who the hell took my brother?" he demanded.

The angry tone and Blade slamming his hands on the desk broke Dan Feng from his shock. "No. I don't know who took him. "

"Liar" he shouted which made Dan Feng flinch.

"I swear Blade. I swear that I don't know who they are "Dan Feng said and his voice was cracking

Dan Heng decided to intervene and he walked towards Blade and he grabbed him by his arms. "Blade.'

"Don't touch me ", he shouted jerking his arm away from Blade's hold.

"Blade. Please calm down" Dan Heng said softly.

"Don't tell me what to do. Don't you dare me to tell me what the fuck to do" he screamed in Dan Heng's face. And Dan Heng can't blame him or be hurt by the tone of his voice. Because he knew that he would have acted the same if their roles had been replaced and Dan Feng would be the one kidnapped.

  Blade was starting to pace around the office, in distress, pulling at his hair. Because he didn't know what he could do. He wants Yingxing back. He wants his big brother back. 

Before Dan Heng can say something, Dan Feng's phone starts to ring. His older brother grabbed the phone. "Unknown number", he said before he answered and he put it on speaker for everyone to hear. But he made a shushing noise for Dan Heng and Blade to be quiet. "Hello. With whom am I speaking?"

"My dear Dan Feng," the voice from the other side said. And it sounded pretty familiar. "Do you receive my message?"

"You kidnapped Yingxing? Why?" He asked sharply, his hands balled into a fist.

"If I can have you. No one can " The same words that were in the text message as well.

"I swear if you hurt him. I.."

"Don't worry darling", the man purred. "Your Prince Charming is fine. Just sleeping. If you want him back you would have to do what I say "

"What do you want?"Dan Feng asked with hesitation and Dan Heng opened his mouth to protest but Dan Feng shot him a glare to be quiet. And fortunately, his little brother obeyed.

"I want you to come to me. Once you would, I will let him go"

"Fine," Dan Feng said once again without any hesitation.

"Oh. Never expected to agree so fast. Means that you love this guy so much." he said and the three people in the office could hear the venom in the man's voice. Then the call was ended and seconds later Dan Feng received a message with the location.

"Brother. You can't be serious. You can't just march there like this and expect that whoever that sick person is would let Yingxing go." Dan Heng protested worriedly

"I can. And I will."

Chapter Text

Despite his brother pleading Dan Feng refused to listen to him and his reasoning. "It's too dangerous!" He doesn't care. "You don't know if he would keep his words" Once again. He doesn't care. And he can try. If he doesn't do what the man said then he would lose Yingxing forever. And he can't live with that. 

"I will be fine Dan Heng," Dan Feng said softly as he hugged his crying little brother. Dan Heng was clinging to him and he was crying into his chest as he repeated again and again "Don't go" Dan Feng pressed a kiss on his brother's head before he looked at Blade with a serious expression that was saying "Look after him". It seems that Blade understands because he gave Dan Feng a nod.

Blade. Despite his twin older brother's life being on the line here, he looked like he doesn't want to let Dan Feng go as well. Because in his opinion this would situation was stupid. And like Dan Heng said. What guarantee is that the man would leave his brother when Dan Feng got there? But he can't do anything. His need to have his brother back was stopping him from making a move to stop Dan Feng. 

Even though he knew that he would hate himself for this. And Dan Heng and Yingxing would hate him as well probably. It seems that he was really selfish. Blade moved and he pried his lover from Dan Feng despite the tight grip Dan Heng had. And the protest. "No. No. Please. Don't go. Don't go. Please"Dan Heng cried as Dan Feng turned around and he walked out from the office. 

Blade turned Dan Heng around and he wrapped his arms around him as he pressed him against his chest. He felt his own tears falling down his face as he listened to his lover heart heart-wrenching cries.

Dan Feng took a taxi to the destination that was sent to his phone. His hands were shaking in his lap. He was a nervous wreck. Completely anxious. He hopes that Yingxing will be alright and the man will leave his lover go.

The drive there was made in complete silence and lasted 30 minutes. Dan Feng didn't know what to expect. But definitely not some rundown house. "Wait here, please," he told the driver. That was a little hesitant but he nodded. Dan Feng took a deep breath before he got out from the car and he went to the house.

He didn't even have to knock at the door because immediately he was in front of him, the door opened. "You", Dan Feng said shocked when he saw the person from the side. He was one of his employees. Now as he looked at the man he remembered what Dan Heng told him. About someone from the company being obsessed with him. How could have been so stupid!?. He should have believed his brother. Maybe then Yingxing wouldn't have been here now.

"My beloved Dan Feng"He purred as he wrapped an around around his waist and pulled him inside the house. Dan Feng was tempted to shove the man away. But he doesn't want to do anything that might risk Yingxing life.

"Where's Yingxing?' he asked as he glared at the man. That face turned dark because of the question and the arm around his waist tightened so much that Dan Feng knew that it would bruise.

The man didn't said anything as he brought Dan Feng into another room. "Yingxing," he said his eyes wide as he saw his lover, slumped on a chair. His wrists and ankles were tied. He was still unconscious. But at least he didn't look like he was harmed in any way. He wanted to go to him. But the arm around him tightened even more and held him in place.

"What do you think that you are doing?" the man hissed in his ear. 

"I want to see if he's alright. And you promised that you would let him go if I come here"He said as he looked at the man. His heart was beating fast in his chest. He hoped that his coming here wasn't for nothing and the man would let Yingxing go. "I've come here with a taxi. I will put him there and come back here."

"And why should I believe you? How could I know that you won't get inside with him and leave?"

Because you are an insane man and can come after Yingxing again. Because his life can be put in danger again. Because next time something much worse might happen to Yingxing. But he didn't said any of that. Instead. "I give you my word. I promise that I won't run away with him" he said seriously. Without any hint of lying in his voice.

The man looked at him for a few seconds and he let go of him. Dan Feng rushed to Yingxing's aide and he kneeled down. He pressed his fingers on Yingxing's neck and he sighed relieved to see that he has a pulse. It's was fast. Put it's was there. He managed to untie him before he lifted him from the chair

 With an arm draped over his shoulders, he supported Blade out of the house and put him in the taxi.

"I guess this is goodbye," Dan Feng said with years pricking at his eyes. "I love you Yingxing," he said and he pressed a small kiss on his lips before he looked at the driver. He pulled out some money and gave it to the man. "Take him to the hospital and don't say a word," he said before he closed the door. He gave the driver enough money to keep his mouth shut.

Dan Feng looked as the taxi distanced away from him with Yingxing. A few tears trailed down his face before he turned around and he walked back inside to his future hell.

Blade was still in Dan Feng's office with his lover. Speaking of Dan Heng. He stopped crying after almost an hour. Now he was lying on the couch with his head on Blade's lap, as Blade ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn't asleep. Just staying there without moving. He didn't have the strength to do anything after his brother handed himself to some obsessed crazy man.

Blade jumped when he felt his phone ringing and he took it from his pocket to see that it was unknown. He was hesitant for a couple of seconds before he answered. “Hello.”

“Good afternoon. I'm I speaking with someone called Blade?”The voice on the other side said. It's was a feminine soft voice. But still unknown to him.

“Yes. It's me. Who are you”

“I'm calling from the hospital. A man named Yingxing was brought here a few minutes ago and you are on his emergency call list” Blade's eyes widened when he heard that. The hospital. Yingxing. Yingxing.

“Yingxing. You have my brother. Is he alright? Please tell me that he's alright?” he pleaded. He could feel Dan Heng twitching a little on his lap and Blade resumed running his fingers through his hair.

“He's fine. Just unconscious. He was brought here by a taxi driver. We questioned him and he said that he only found him on the side of the road. I think it's better to talk about everything else here in person “

“Right. You are right. I will be there soon. Thank you “ Blade closed his eyes relieved when he heard that words. He closed the call and then he looked down at Dan Heng in his lap. Before he can open his mouth and say something Dan Heng beats him to it.

“Go. Go and be with your brother”, he said and his voice was cracking.

“I don't want to leave you here alone. Come with me” Blade said and Dan Heng shook his head. He does have the strength to get up from the couch. 

“I will be fine”

Blade was still hesitant to leave. But he also wants to see his brother. In the end, he pushed Dan Heng away a little to get up. “ I will be back” he won't leave Dan Heng here alone. He would return later and take him home. Dan Heng didn't said anything.

Blade arrived at the hospital in fifteen minutes because he drove like crazy without caring about the speed limit. At least he wasn't pulled over. On the way to the hospital though he remembered that he have to call his mom as well. But he would not tell her the reason why Yingxing is in the hospital. He would make something up.

“Hey. I was called a little while ago about my brother Yingxing being here. I'm Blade” He said once he arrived at the hospital at the reception. The nurse tapped on her computer for a couple of seconds.

“Yes. Your brother is in room 24 first floor. He was brought here by a taxi driver. Unconscious. He's fine though. He was injected with some strong sedative. Besides the fast pulse, there's nothing else wrong with him. We will keep him overnight after he wakes up “

“Do you know when he would wake up?”

“In around two or three hours. He would be a little confused in the beginning and he won't remember much. But it's understandable. Also, it's advised to go to the police. Because I don't your brother did that to himself. “Blade nodded. He was planning on doing that to hopefully have Dan Feng back as well. 

“Thank you, “he said patting the desk a couple of times before he rushed away to the first floor. His brother's room was the second on the left and when he opened he saw that Yingxing was really there. Pale and asleep. But he was there. Alright. Blade dropped on a bedside chair and he grabbed Yingxing's hand and squeezed it. “I’m so glad that you are alright “. He was so glad that he didn't lost his brother.

Later Blade had contacted Baiheng as well. Who she didn't hesitate to drop everything and rush to the hospital. Fortunately, he managed to spot her before any nurse or doctor and brought her to Yingxing's room where he gave her the excuse that Yingxing just fainted from exhaustion.

“I told you boys to be more careful and don't overwork yourself,” Baiheng said with a sigh as she sat down on the bed edge and ran her fingers through her oldest son. “What did the doctor said? Would he be alright?” she asked as she looked towards her youngest.

Blade nodded. “They said that he's fine. No danger and would wake up soon. They want to keep him overnight just in case”

“I'm glad”

Almost an hour later the door opened and Blade and Baiheng turned their heads, expecting a nurse or a doctor for some reason. But instead. “Dan Heng”, Blade said standing up and he walked to his lover. “I didn't expect to see you here” Blade looked at his lover

 He looked horrible. His face was flushed and he was pale. His hair was a mess. He was surprised that no nurse or doctor was suspicious of him.

  Though he can't blame Dan Heng for looking like this when his brother is still there with that monster. 

“I wanted to see how Yingxing is,” he said and his voice was small and raspy from crying.

“He's fine,” Baiheng said and she stood up and walked towards the two of them. Her face was a little worried but weary as well. “ Are you a friend of his”

 Dan Heng nodded. “You look horrible son. Are you sick?” she asked.

Blade was the one who answered for him. “He's overworked like Yingxing. He has an important job as COO and he always overwork himself and refuses to sleep” No. That's not true. Dan Heng is not like this. Not really. That's how Dan Feng is. 

“Oh. You should sleep more young man. Or you would collapse from exhaustion. I'm Baiheng by the way. Blade and Yingxing's mom”

If Dan Heng wasn't distraught he would have more of a reaction than a small smile. “Nice to meet you, ma’am.”

Blade grabbed Dan Heng by his arm and he helped him to one of the chairs and sat him down.

Yingxing woke up a little later than the nurse said. But he still woke up. It's was dark outside and Blade was almost asleep. His mom was sleeping and so was Dan Heng. 

“Yingxing” Blade said softly sitting down on the bed edge. His brother opened his eyes and he frowned a little. His vision was fuzzy and it took him a few seconds to see that Blade was in front of him.

“Blade. What..”

“You are in the hospital. Don't worry. Everything is alright” he said reassuringly and he squeezed Yingxing's hand. 

On the other hand, Yingxing was confused. His mind was fuzzy and he didn't understand why he was in the hospital. At least he knew that Blade was right because he could see that he was in a hospital room. And looking around he could see his mom and Dan Heng sleeping

 But. “Blade. Where's Dan Feng?”

Chapter Text

Blade didn't know what he was expecting. His naivety really thought that his brother would not find out about it. Or remember what happened. When Yingxing asked him when he was in the hospital Blade didn't though before opening his mouth and laying. “He left for a business trip. It was urgent and it couldn't be delayed” he answered. 

He should have known by then that his lie wouldn't be believed because Dan Heng was here and the brothers always go together on business trips. But probably Yingxing was too confused and his mind too fuzzy to question it. “What happened with me?”

“You overworked at work and you passed out from exhaustion” Another lie that somehow came out of his mouth even though he knew that Yingxing would know that it was not true when his mind would be clearer. Because he rarely overwork. And Blade is always there to make him stop before he actually passes out from exhaustion. 

But he guessed that Yingxing still recovering from the drug didn't detect any lie and he believed him before he went back to sleep.

He regretted immediately lying to his brother the next day when they were on the way to Dan Heng and Dan Feng's Penthouse. Blade was driving with Yingxing in the passenger seat and Dan Heng in the backseat. 

Speaking of Dan Heng. His lover was leaning against the door and his head was pressed on the window. His face was devoid of any emotion. But you could tell by his eyes that he was suffering a lot. And no one can blame him.

Baiheng left earlier before Yingxing was given clear to leave at her two sons that it was alright for her to go to work and Yingxing was alright. Blade had given her the address to the penthouse to visit them if she wanted in case she didn't find them at their home.

Yingxing on the other hand. Blade could tell that his twin older brother looked like he was ready to explode any second. He looked like that since he woke up this morning in the hospital. But he was holding back because he didn't want to make a scene. Either in public or in front of Dan Heng, he doesn't know. Which means that now he remembers everything and he's not pleased with the fact that Blade straight up laid in his face. 

There have been the most tense 15 minutes in Blade's life. The whole car drive had been tense and uncomfortable. Once they arrived at Dan Heng and Dan Feng's Penthouse they got out from the car with Dan Heng in front of him to unlock the door for them.

Once inside and Dan Heng went upstairs, either in his room or to shower, Yingxing turned to his brother and exploded. “Blade. What the hell” Yingxing yelled.

“What?”

“Don't get me started. You know what I mean” he yelled as he ran a hand through his white dishalved hair. “Why the hell did you lie to me last night!?”

“I did it for your own good.”

“My own good. Yeah right,” Yingxing paced around the living room, his hands running through his hair. “My own good. Or you wanted to believe that I won't remember and I won't know that Dan Feng was taken away. And you would continue to pill lie after lie on me and I will break up with him”

Blade's eyes widened when his brother accused him of this. He really didn't mean it like this. He was just concerned about how Yingxing would react if he would know about what happened when he was still confused because of the drug. “Yingxing. No. It's not true. I”

“Save it. I don't want to hear it anymore” Yingxing snapped before he turned around and he walked out from the penthouse. He ignored Blade's calls of where he was going. He would go to the police and tell them what happened and hopefully, he would get his beloved back. 

“Blade” Blade turned around as he heard Dan Heng's weak voice. His lover was on the stairs and he looked at him. His face was still flushed and tear-streaked. But there was concern in his voice. He went towards his lover and he cupped his face.

“What are you doing here Dan Heng?” he asked softly and he caressed his face with his thumbs. “You should have been in your room, sleeping.”

“It was kind of hard with Yingxing yelling. Are you alright?” He asked. And Blade sighed. He once again got proof that his lover's heart was bigger than his chest. Asking someone else if they are alright because of a dumb argument when he's distraught because of his brother being in the hands of a creeper.

He took Dan Heng into his arms and he kissed the top of his head. “I’m fine love. I'm fine” Was he really?

     Yingxing arrived at the police station where he went to the first cop he saw to tell him what happened. The woman had to stop him and brought him into an office before she questioned him again. 

“Alright. Start from the beginning. You were kidnapped”

Yingxing nodded. “A man walked into my coffee shop saying that he was my lover's driver and would take me to his company. But when I got in the car I felt something pricking my neck and was knocked out”

“Do you remember anything else after you were knocked out?”, she asked but Yingxing shook his head.

“I was out all this time. Next thing I knew I woke up in the hospital. No wait. Actually, there were times when I was awake for a few seconds before being out again”

“Do you know the reason why they kidnapped you?”

“There's a man. He's obsessed with Dan Feng. He did it to have him” He explained and the look on the woman's face became more serious and concerned.

“This person. Dan Feng. Where is he” Yingxing silence was enough answer for her. He was with that despicable man. “Do you know how the person that kidnapped you looked?”

Yingxing nodded and he began to describe him as best as he could remember as the police officer wrote everything down.

“Alright, Mr. Yingxing. We have limited information. But I promise we can do everything we can to find Dan Feng. We will try and find this person. Maybe he was hired by that one who wanted Dan Feng or works with him. Save to say that there's like 80% that if we find him we will find Dan Feng too.”

80% was a lot. But still not comforting for Yingxing. The man nodded and he thanked the officer before he stood up from the chair and left the police section hoping for a miracle.

10 days. That's how much it took for Dan Heng, Blade, and Yingxing to get information from the police. 10 days left in constant worry and stress. 

They barely ate or slept because they were fearing the worst. Also, Blade and Yingxing's relationship was still rocky because none of them talked about what happened before Yingxing left to the police. Despite Dan Heng constantly trying to push Blade to do it.

Yingxing's phone was ringing and he answered without bothering to see who was calling him. “Hello?”

“Mr. Yingxing. We found Dan Feng”

“What ?!” Yingxing said shocked and he stood up. Making Blade and Dan Heng look confused at him. The three of them were still in Dan Heng and Dan Feng Penthouse.

“Yes. He's at the central hospital now. And the criminal is arrested.”

“Thank you very much,” Yingxing said before he turned to Blade and Dan Heng. “They found Dan Feng. He's at the hospital I was “

Dan Heng's eyes widened when he heard that he didn't hesitate to stand up and dash out from the penthouse towards the garage. Blade and Yingxing were following him. 

Because Blade was the calmer one and he would not provoke a crash if he drove too recklessly, he was the one who got into the driver's seat

 Though he was still driving pretty fast. 

The short drive to the hospital was made in complete silence and anxiety. Hoping that Dan Feng wasn't alright and that creeper hadn't hurt him in any way. Though there were slim chances.

Once there they rushed to the hospital and to the reception where it's was also a doctor. “Good afternoon. I'm here for Dan Feng. He's my brother” Dan Heng said and the nurse tapped on her computer for a few seconds.

“Yes. He's on the second floor, door 40. “

“Is he alright?”

This time it was the doctor who answered. “I'm Dr Richardson and I’m your brother's doctor. Unfortunately, he's not in a very good condition. He's not in a critical one. But he's pretty sickly. Severely dehydrated and there's a lack of nutrients as well. As well as a lot of scratches, cuts, and bruises. And three of his ribs are fractured.

We are running a test to see if there are any drugs in his system”

That didn't sound good at all. But at least he was alive. And he wasn't with that person again. “Can we see him?” Dan Heng asked and the doctor nodded.

The three of them took the elevator to the second floor. Dan Feng's room was first on the right. When they walked inside they saw him. He was really there. He looked horrible. He was pale except for his face which was flushed from his fever. He has two IVs on his arm. With liquid and fluids. And an oxygen mask on his face. He was also attached to a heart monitor. He looked horrible. But at least he was safe now. Am

Chapter Text

Dan Feng gasped as he was kicked on his side as he was on the ground on his hands and knees.

 He gasped in pain and coughed. “Why don't you love!” The man yelled and he was kicked once again which made Dan Feng let out a cry of pain as his hands gave up on him and he collapsed fully on the ground.

He was panting and trembling from the pain. Breathing was hurting even more. At least his ribs didn't feel broken. The man raged more but at least he didn't hit him again. Instead, he threw some chair and a vase at the wall before he left the bedroom and locked it so Dan Feng couldn't leave.

Dan Feng coughed as he laid on the ground and a few tears started falling down his face. He was in pain and he was scared. There had been a couple of days since he went willingly to this crazy man so he could leave Yingxing alone. A couple of days of pure suffering.

On the first day, the man has tried to force himself on him. But Dan Feng had managed to kick that man between his legs which earned him a powerful slap to his face before he had fortunately left him alone. 

Then he started to kiss him. On his lips, neck, arms. Which made him feel disgusted and he tried to fight the man off which earned him more bruises. 

Then when he saw that Dan Feng would not accept his advance

 That he won't enjoy his touches and kisses he started to make him suffer thinking that he would break and that he would start loving him.

They moved to another place. Which wasn't any different from the rundown house. And he was locked in the room he was now. The room was completely empty. Only a door and window that were sealed shut. And he was forbidden food and was barely given any water. He was let out from the room only to use the bathroom.

Even there he didn't have any privacy. The man was with him and he was making lewd comments as he was running his fingers on his face and neck which made him more disgusted.

Dan Feng let out a sob which hurt him a lot because of the pain in his side as he buried his face in the floor. He wants to go home. He doesn't want to be there anymore. He wants to be back with his brother. With his lover. “Please. I want to go home” he whimpered to the empty air.

With each passing day, Dan Feng was losing hope that he would be found and that he would go home. There are more chances for him to die there. Though he wished he could see everyone else again at least once. See his lover and give him one more kiss and tell him how much he loves him. See his brother and hug him one more time and tell him that he's proud of him and loves him. See Blade one more time and hug him and thank him and say how much he appreciated that he made his brother so happy and that he loves him so much. Just one more time. But unfortunately, his wish didn't come true.

If the lack of food and water and the inappropriate touches weren't bad enough. The man started drugging the little water and food he was giving him.

Dan Feng started realizing this 5 days into this hell when after he ate the bread and drank the water he started feeling weak and sleepy. He thought maybe it was because of he was exhausted because of everything. But it happened all the time. 

And yes. It was probably the exhaustion. But after he ate and drank he felt even more sleepy and sickly too. That's when he realized that the man was drugging him. He had tried to fight against the drug. Because who knew what that man would do to his body when he was unconscious? But he was too weak to do it.  

Then when he saw that he was waking up with weird marks on his body. No matter how hungry or thirsty he was. He was hiding the breed in some cracks and pouring the water on the ground and covering it with his body. 

Unfortunately, the man managed to find out what he did. And he forced him to drink the water or shoved the food and covered his mouth so he couldn't spit it. He even injected the drug too. Much to his despair.

Ten days later and Dan Feng lost all the hope that someone would come after him. As he lay down on the dirty floor he could only hope that everyone else was alright. Then he heard some noise and muffling shouting.

And then the door burst open and he tensed expecting for the man. “He's here” he heard a voice. It was definitely not him because the voice was feminine. The person walked towards him and Dan Feng opened his eyes to see a cop.

“Hey. We have finally found you. Don't worry. You are safe now and we will help you”, she said with an assuring smile. “Your boyfriend is waiting for you,” she said rubbing his arm.

Boyfriend. “Yingxing” he whispered before he let himself be swallowed by the darkness because he knew that he was safe now. And he can go back home. Finally.

Yingxing was pacing anxiously in Dan Feng's hospital room. He was alternating between pacing and sitting down on the chair as he looked at his unconscious lover. 

It had been more than 24 hours since Yingxing was announced by the cop lady that Dan Feng was found and brought to the hospital. And Dan Feng didn't give any sign of waking up anything soon.

If anything his situation went worse and he developed a fever overnight. “It was to be expected”, a nurse on the night job said injecting antibiotics into Dan Feng's wrist. “Some of his cuts and scratches looked infected. So s fever was to be expected. Don't worry. It's not that high”

And as if the nurse's words were a jinx, his fever went higher a few hours after and they had to inject fever reducer. At least now as the morning broke, his fever started going down slowly.

“Yingxing” Yingxing was broken from his thoughts when he heard a voice behind him and he turned to see Dan Heng. His lover's brother looked a little better now that his brother was back. But he was still mostly pale and he looked like he barely slept because of the concern for his older brother.

Yingxing sighed. “Dan Heng. You were supposed to be home, resting, or at work. I promised that I would call if there were any changes in Dan Feng's situation”

“I know. But I was thinking of changing places with you. You've been here since yesterday and I doubt you slept.”He caught him there. He really hadn't had a wink of sleep all night. 

Yingxing shook his head and he rubbed his eyes. “I will be fine. I will have some coffee. Remember what we talked about. The CEO and COO already missed a lot of days going to the company and people would start speaking. If you are not resting then it's better to go there as COO, Let everyone know that the CEO will not come back until a while because he's on a business trip and you are in charge. And if I will get exhausted I will have Blade take my place until I rest”

He was still mad at Blade. For lying to him when he was in the hospital about Dan Feng. But even if he didn't talk to him about that. Yet. He can't say that he doesn't understand him. At least a little bit. He knew that Blade didn't have Ill intentions and he was just worried about Yingxing.

Actually, to be true he would have most likely done the same if the roles were reversed. Because the last thing he would have wanted is a weak and confused man trying to leave the hospital and help his lover. Which would result in hurting himself more and doing absolutely nothing. He still could have called the police. So did Dan Heng. But that's a discussion for another time.

“But..” Dan Heng started as he looked at his brother on the bed. He wants to be here with his little brother. Be here for him and when he woke up.

“Dan Heng. Trust me,” Yingxing said softly and firmly at the same time as he grabbed the younger man's shoulders. “Trust me and do as I say. You can come back here and stay a little after you return from the company. But it's better to go there and stop from rumors appearing. If they hadn't already”

Dan Heng sighed defeated and he nodded. “Call me if there would be a change in his situation. Alright?” he told Yingxing seriously and his older brother's lover nodded with a smile.

“I promise “, he said. Dan Heng couldn't detect any lie. So he believed him. With one more look at his unconscious brother, Dan Heng turned around and left.

The first thing when he woke up, Dan Feng heard some annoying incessant beeping noise. Then he could feel pretty warm and half comfortable. The bed was warm but was hard at the same time. At least the pillow and the blanket that was covering weren't that bad.

Then he could feel a weird sensation in his arm. Like he has something was inserted in his arm

 He was confused for a couple of minutes. Until everything comes back to him. Which made him panic. The beeping noise increased. He started squirming in the bed, trying to open his eyes. 

His panic grew even more when he heard some voice and movement then a hand on his head. Fingers ruining through his hair which made him tense. Then a voice. A very familiar one. “Shhh shhh. Ok. It's alright. It's ok. You're safe now. You're safe” the voice crooned softly.

Dan Feng managed to gather enough strength to open his eyes and he was met with a familiar face, smiling softly down at him. He opened his mouth. “Yingxing..”

Chapter Text

“Yingxing” Dan Feng opened his mouth and his name came out from it. His poor love voice was weak and raspy from lack of water and because of fever. And who knows because of what that bastard did to him. And muffled because of the oxygen mask.

“Yes, Darling. Yes. It's me. I'm here” Yingxing crooned as he ran his fingers through Dan Feng's hair soothingly. “You are safe now. You're safe”.

Dan Feng opened his mouth to say something again but he only coughed. He moved his hand to remove the oxygen mask but Yingxing stopped him. “Shh. Don't talk. Not yet. And don't remove that. It's help” he said and fortunately, his love listened to him. “Go back to sleep. You're safe” he repeated again.

He was surprised that his stubborn lover actually listened to him and he went back to sleep. He must be really weak still. He looked at the nurse who was in the room with them when Dan Feng woke up. She was there to change the IV. 

The nurse checked on Dan Feng's vitals before she looked at Yingxing with a soft smile.

“Don't worry. He's fine. He's situation is improving. There's a chance when he would wake up again he would be able to talk and drink some water. His fever is decreasing. The only problem would remain the fractured ribs. They would heal but it would take a while. We are giving him painkillers though “

“I have a question for you nurse.. When we have come here first the doctor said that they would make some test in case he has drugs in his body.”

“Oh,” The nurse looked surprised. “I thought the doctor told you” Yingxing shook his head. No one told him anything. Or if they did he didn't listen to them. “Well, the only drug in his system that was found was just some sort of strong sedative. Nothing is deathly or addictive. Also, a kit was run on him in case he was assaulted “ Yingxing breath hitched when he heard that. “Fortunately it's come out negative “ There was visible relief on Yingxing's face when he heard that.

“Thank you for letting me know “

“Anytime. “She said before she turned back to the check-up. Once she made sure that everything was in order she turned around and walked out from the room.

Yingxing took a seat at Dan Feng's side and he grabbed his hand with one of his. With the other one, he took out his phone and texted Dan Heng that his brother had woken up.

“He did!?. How is he?” Yingxing was a little surprised when the response had come out immediately. It was like the younger was glued to his phone waiting for an answer.

“He stayed awake only a minute or so. He went back to sleep. The nurse said that his condition is improving and next time he would wake up he would be able to stay up more and talk with us.”

“Thank you Yingxing” Come Dan Heng answer immediately again. Yingxing put his phone back away before he turned his attention back to Dan Feng.

The next time when Dan Feng woke up again he was less confused and less feverish. He was still feeling pain. But it was numbed by what could possibly be painkillers. He's not going to lie. He's a little anxious about drugs running into his system after what that man did to him. 

But unfortunately, he can't do anything. And he doesn't want to throw a tantrum in the hospital. Plus it was helping with the pain in his body. This time when he woke he saw that he didn't have the oxygen mask anymore. 

But the annoying beeping that could only belong to the heart monitor was still there. As well as the feeling of needles in his arms from the IV. He groaned as he raised himself in a sitting position. He looked around the room. He thought that he was alone. He almost missed Dan Heng who was sleeping with his head and arms on his bed. 

Dan Feng smiled a little. He was happy that he would see his precious little brother again. And that his brother was alright. He raised one hand and he ran his fingers through Dan Heng's hair. Dan Heng stirred a little before he opened his eyes. 

Dan Feng froze. He didn't want to wake his little brother up. Unfortunately, he couldn't do anything because immediately he opened his eyes, Dan Heng saw him. “Dan Feng,” he said a little loud than necessary and he jumped from the chair and hugged him. A little tighter than necessary.

“Ow. Ow. Dan Heng. Little brother. I'm happy to see you. But it hurts” Dan Feng said gently as he patted his brother's head. Dan Heng felt like he didn't want to let go. But he still did it because it was necessary. When Dan Heng pulled away, Dan Feng smiled weakly at his little brother and he raised one hand to caress the side of his face.  “I'm so glad to see you again little brother,” he said and he could feel tears pricking at his eyes. But he held them back.

“I'm glad to see you as well. I thought I lost you forever. That I won't be able to see you again.”Dan Heng said and he could feel tears trailing down his face.

“Don't cry. I'm here now. Big brother is here now” Dan Feng said before coughing. Dan Heng wiped his tears away and he sniffed before he grabbed a glass of water from the bedside table and he handed it to his brother.

“Drink slowly “Dan Feng's hands were shaking so Dan Heng helped him take small sips from the water. That feel so good on his parched throat. 

“Thank you,” Dan Feng said gratefully. Before his tone took a more serious tone. “Dan Heng. Why are not sleeping at home. But here.”

Dan Heng looked down. Was it him? Or his little brother's hair had grown these past days since he saw him. His hair was covering his eyes when he looked down. “The house is too quiet. I couldn't sleep there alone” That was a complete lie. Well not entirely. The house is probably quiet at this hour. But he wasn't alone. Blade and Yingxing are still there.

Dan Feng hummed with a small smile. “Yeah. I understand. Now why you are not telling me the truth “ Dan Heng looked at him as if he didn't know already that he could tell when he lies and when he didn't. He raised him after all.

“I wanted to be here when you woke up,” he said. “And apologize” 

“Apologize” Dan Feng looked confused at his little brother. Why would Dan Heng want to apologize? As far as he knew he hadn't done anything bad.

“Apologize for not doing anything. For letting you in that bastard's hands”

Dan Feng sighed. So that's what was about. “Dan Heng. You have nothing to apologize for. None of this is your fault. Actually. I should take responsibility for this. Only if I listened to you sooner “he rubbed his forehead. Suddenly looking more exhausted than ever. “If only I listened when you told me about that man being obsessed with me.  Instead of brushing it as a rumor people like to spread” If he wouldn't have brushed his brother's worries like this. Then Yingxing wouldn't have been kidnapped. And he wouldn't have been held captive by that man for days. He's so stupid.  

Also, he definitely doesn't hold any grudge against his brother for not doing anything. What he could do? Call the police? What chance were that that man wouldn't have done anything drastic if the police had followed him? Yeah. As much as he suffered and he's still in pain and probably would have a lot of nightmares. He was glad that Dan Heng hadn't done anything when he left.

Dan Heng continued to rub at his forehead. He didn't have a headache. But he was trying to distract himself from the tears that were pricking at his eyes and not let them fall. “Stop,” Dan Heng said after a couple of minutes of silence. He moved to sit down on the bed edge and he pulled Dan Feng's hand down. “Stop it. Don't fight them “he said reassuringly.

The fact that even now after everything his older brother tried to be strong. It was painful. Fortunately, his stubborn brother listened to him for once. And he stopped fighting. He let the tears start falling down his cheeks freely. Dan Heng wrapped his arms around his brother, this time more gentle and he pulled him closer. “Don't hold it. Let it go. It's ok. “He said reassuringly and Dan Feng wrapped his shaky arms around his brother and buried his face in his shoulder. His body was shaking with sobs and Dan Heng continued to ho him until the end.

Earlier

If it wasn't for Blade dragging Yingxing out from the door and Dan Heng pushing him away, Yingxing would have definitely spent another sleepless night in Dan Feng's room. Enough was enough. Not only Yingxing was worried. They were too. Especially Dan Heng. But he can't neglect his health like this.

So this time Dan Heng was the one who remained with Dan Feng at the hospital and Yingxing left with Blade at the Penthouse. Dan Heng handed Blade his keys. “Our penthouse is closer to the hospital than your house,” he said when he asked him why he told them to go there.  

Blade didn't protest. His work at the garage had been a terror today and Yingxing looked exhausted. He appreciates that he doesn't have to drive for too long. The drive to the penthouse was made in complete silence. And not the comfortable one. But awkward one.  Yeah. Blade was glad that Dan Heng let them in his and Dan Feng's Penthouse.

“We need to talk,” Yingxing said after the two of them arrived and entered in the penthouse. “We can't live together in the silence all the time,” he said sighing and he rubbed his eyes tiredly.

“Maybe it can wait until tomorrow. You look exhausted Yingxing. You should go to sleep” Blade said worriedly. But his twin brother shook his head stubbornly. 

“It can wait. It won't last long. Also if we wait until tomorrow, then we will find a way to avoid each again” Yeah. Blade could tell that Yingxing is unfortunately right about this.

Blade sighed. “Alright. Look. Yingxing. I'm sorry for laying you in the hospital that day. I promise that I didn't mean any harm. I..”

“I know,” Yingxing said. “I know. And I'm sorry that I accused of being glad that Dan Feng wasn't anymore. I wasn't thinking straight. You had no ill intentions. If I was in your position I would have done the same thing. I wouldn't have wanted someone that just woke up from unconsciouses to run around and get hurt”

Blade was grateful that his brother wasn't angry at him and really didn't had any ill intentions back then. “I should have still told you the truth immediately the next day”

“By that time I aleardy remembered everything. I was so distraught by Dan Feng's kidnapping that I wasn't thinking straight and took all my anger on you. “

“So. We are alright now?” Blade asked hopefully.

Yingxing smiled softly. “Yes. We are alright.”

Chapter Text

 The next time Dan Feng woke up he was met with his lover instead of his brother. “Yingxing” Dan Feng said happily when he saw the other man. Yingxing didn't hesitate to bend down over the bed and hug Dan Feng. His hug was more gentle compared with Dan Heng's first hug. On the other hand, though Dan Feng was clinging as strongly as could to the other man.

“My love. You can't understand how happy I am to see you awake and safe and alright. My precious beloved love “Yingxing said caressing Dan Feng's head and pressing kisses over his skin. He was so relieved to see that Dan Feng's fever was gone now. 

“Yingxing. Yingxing. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry” Dan Feng repeated again and again in Yingxing's shoulder as he clung to his lover.

“Hey. Hey. What are you talking about Dan Feng?” Yingxing asked confused. There was also a hint of worry in his voice as he pulled away from the hug and he cupped Dan Feng's face. He rubbed his thumbs over his lover's cheeks softly.

“What happened to you? It's my fault. You were taken about that person because of me. “

“Nope. No. Not going on there. Listen to me, love. That creeper kidnapping me. It's absolutely not your fault. Not even a little.”

Dan Feng shook his head... “No. It's my fault. My brother warned me about this man. About how people in the company talked about how someone is obsessed with me. But I choose to ignore it and brush it as nothing. Only if I didn't. Then..”

Yingxing sighed. He knew well enough that Dan Feng was one stubborn bastard. And Dan Heng is the same. These two are really brothers. And he would continue to blame himself because some person is sick in the head. “Yes. You could have listened to your brother. But at the same time you couldn't know if it's true or just rumors “He ignored the fact that he was on Dan Heng's side weeks ago when Dan Feng told him about the obsessed person in the company. “They could have been only rumors and not true. And yes. It turned out to be true. But it's still not your fault. You had every right to not believe the rumors back then. Also. You shouldn't think about this anymore. He's gone now. I'm alright. Nothing happened to me. And you are safe now too.”

Dan Feng lowered his head and he went back into Yingxing arms. On the other hand, Yingxing didn't hesitate to wrap his arms back around Dan Feng being mindful of the fractured ribs. He knew that he would probably have to repeat many times that it wasn't his fault. It was only that bastard's fault. But he found himself not minding that at all. Yingxing smiled a little and he pressed a kiss on Dan Feng's temple. “I love you so much”

“I love you too Yingxing”

    Finally after one week and a half in the hospital, Dan Feng was discharged. But he was instructed to take it easy and rest a few more days before going back to work. And prescribed medication for his ribs.

The last thing he would want is to spend more days in the bed. But he knew that Dan Heng and Yingxing would tie him to the bed if necessary. Dan Feng left the hospital and got into a taxi.

His brother was at the company working; Dan Heng working so much at the company made Dan Feng want to come back there sooner so he could take the workload from his brother's shoulders. Yingxing was at his coffee shop. It was time to open it again or else the food would get bad and he would lose money. And Blade was at his garage. So there was no one to take him home. Which means that he was stuck taking a taxi. Not that he minds.

Fifteen minutes he was back home. He was glad to be back home. As he got out of the taxi and he looked at the building he couldn't be more happy to see it again. He walked inside and took the elevator to his floor.

When he walked into the apartment he was expecting to be devoid of people and quiet. Opening the door and having three people yell into his face “WELCOME HOME” was the last thing he expected.

“What?”Dan Feng looked shocked. In front of him are his brother, lover, and Blade. The house has balloons and decorations with a big “WELCOME HOME” sign hanging from the wall. “What's going on here.”

“Well my dear” Yingxing started as he walked to his lover and he wrapped an arm around his shoulders. “We wanted to surprise. “

“Yeah. But why”

“To make your day better. To have some fun. Not so much though. It was my idea by the way” Yingxing said proudly.

Blade rolled his eyes. “Yeah. And yet me and Dan Heng were the ones who worked our asses the most while you just bossed us around “he said as he threw a balloon at his brother's head, and Dan Feng chuckled. Somehow he wasn't surprised in the least. 

“Do you like it, brother?”Dan Heng asked hopeful.

Dan Feng hummed and he smiled at the three of them. “Yes. I like it very much. Thank you all “

The four of them spent the day together. They eat some food that Blade prepared. His brother's lover was a very talented cook. “I love this,” Dan Feng said as he took a bite from his food.

“Please stop praising my brother when he cooked some stew only” Yingxing grumbled as he poked at his food.

“And tomato soup and sushi and cake,” Blade said and he smirked at his brother. “Someone is jealous”. That earned a kick on his shin which made him groan and glare at his twin. Then he turned his attention to Dan Feng. “Also I'm glad that you like it “

Dan Feng hummed. “It's very good. Also.” he turned his attention to Yingxing. “Behave”

Yingxing rolled his eyes but he decided to not kick his brother anymore. After the delicious lunch was over, Dan Heng left first and went to prepare the living room while Blade washed the dishes and Blade was making some popcorn. Dan Feng was instructed to do nothing but relax on the chair much to his annoyance.

After Dan Heng finished prepping the living room and the popcorn was over they moved into the living room. Dan Heng made it cozy. He grabbed probably all the blankets and pillows from the penthouse and put them on the floor in front of the TV. 

The 4 of them sat down on the cozy place and cuddled with each other with two bowls of popcorn and candy in front of them as they started watching movies. They were comedy ones. After everything that happened, they need some good laugh. To temporarily forget everything that happened these couple of weeks.

 Dan Feng knew that it was only a matter of time. It didn't happen when he was in the hospital because he was either sick or knocked out by the painkillers. 

  He was surprised that it didn't happen the first couple of nights when he returned back home as well. And he can't use Yingxing as an excuse because his lover sleeps beside him every day now.

Yingxing and Blade lived so much in the Penthouse that he or Dan Heng were surprised that their lovers didn't move in permanently. They told them that a couple of times. But their proposal was always met with silence. So they decide to drop it. If Blade and Yingxing would want to move permanently in the Penthouse then they would do it when they feel ready.

So yeah. Yingxing it's not an excuse that it didn't happen the first couple of nights either. They come out unexpectedly. Even though he was expecting it to happen. The Nightmares.

       His dreams started normally. Just the usual thing that you forgot once you woke up. Then it was darkness and as if someone switched the channel he was back in that dreaded room. 

“No no no,” Dan Feng said as he looked around frantically. His body was shaking violently and he was terrified. No. It wasn't possible. He can't be back there. He was supposed to be free. And safe. The door started rattling and Dan Feng lowered on the ground curling on himself. Repeating the same word again and again. His face was wet with tears.

Yingxing was sleeping peacefully and unperturbed when he felt the bed shaking. That's what woke him up. In the beginning, he decided to ignore it and go back to sleep. But when he heard whimpering he remembered where he was sleeping

 “Dan Feng”, he said worriedly as he jumped into a sitting position. He turned on the bedside lamp. His poor lover was squirming in the bed and whimpering frightened. His hair was stuck to his forehead by the sweat. Nightmare.

“Dan Feng,” he said softly and he put a hand on his lover's shoulder. “Hey. Wake up. You have a nightmare” he said shaking him. He thought that it would take a while to break his lover from the nightmare. But it didn't. Immediately Dan Feng bolted awake shaking as he looked frantically in around the room. “Hey. Hey,” Yingxing said soothingly.

“No. Stay away” Dan Feng yelped and he was about to jump from the bed. But Yingxing grabbed his wrist to stop him

 Which made his lover even more panicked. “Let go”, he cried out. 

Yingxing heard the door opening and he saw Blade and Dan Heng peeking through the door. Dan Feng's cries woke them since Dan Heng's room was down the hallway. Dan Heng looked like he wanted to go to his brother. But Yingxing shook his head. It would be bad if all of them would crowd Dan Feng. Blade seems to understand because he pulled Dan Heng away and closed the door.

“Love. Darling. Dan Feng. Listen to me. You aren't there anymore “Yingxing started soothingly. But it seems that Dan Feng didn't hear him. He was still in his panicked state. “Open your eyes, babe. You are home. Home. You are safe. You aren't there anymore” he said as he hesitantly wrapped an arm around Dan Feng's shoulders.

It seems that this time his words reached Dan Feng. Because he opened his eyes and he looked at Yingxing. “Yingxing,” he said his voice cracking. And Yingxing heart broke.

“That's right. It's me. I'm here. You're home. Safe “Dan Feng collapsed against his chest and Yingxing hugged him tightly, pressing his lips on top of his head and whispered sweet nights to his love who was shaking and crying in his arms. 

“Shh shh. It's ok. You're ok love. You're safe. I'm here” he said he rubbed his back. As he held Dan Feng into his arms to calm him down. He didn't know that the worst just started.

Chapter Text

Dan Feng's nightmares haven't stopped after one night. On the contrary. After that night his nightmares become more and more frequent. He even lashes out in his sleep. One night when he was sleeping alone because Yingxing couldn't come to the Penthouse; his coffee shop was closer to the house he shared with Blade; because he had a lot to work at his job and he was tired. He had a bad nightmare and Dan Heng didn't hesitate to rush in his room and wake him up. 

This time though instead of waking up frightened he woke up swinging and he hit his brother in the face. 

Dan Heng groaned when he was hit in the face. And it was a pretty hard hit. His jaw was sore and it would definitely leave a bruise. Fortunately, though his pain snapped Dan Feng from his distress. “Dan Heng. Oh no,” he said as he reached towards his little brother. “I swear I did…”

“I know. I know “Dan Heng said soothingly as he took his brother's hands. “I know you didn't mean it. It's alright. I'm fine. It barely hurt” Well that's a lie. It hurts pretty bad and still does. But he would definitely not tell Dan Feng that. He was a pretty foot liar. But somehow Dan Feng looked like he didn't believe him. “Are you alright?” he asked changing the subject.

“I'm fine,” he said. And his brother was a shit liar. Dan Heng gave him a Really? look and Dan Feng sighed. “I had a nightmare about my time here. “He said and his voice cracked a little

 Dan Feng wants to be strong for Dan Heng. Even though he doesn't need to. Especially not right now. 

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked sitting down on the bed edge. “It would make you feel better “, he said when Dan Feng shook his head. 

Dan Feng stayed quiet for a couple of minutes and Dan Heng waited patiently. Finally, his brother opened his mouth to talk about it. “I was back there. In that room where he kept me locked before he was arrested. The room is empty. Was always empty. There wasn't even a window and the door was always locked. The door started rattling and it was opened violently. He was coming towards me with a sick smile, and I was trying to get him away from me. That's why I probably hit you” Dan Feng said looking down. His long hair was covering his face. His hands were clenched in his blanket and he was shaking.

Dan Heng didn't carried so much hate for someone like that man who made his brother's life a hell. The prison was too light for that bastard. He wants public execution to come back. Even that was too easy of a sentence. He shook his head. He should stop thinking about that sick bastard. His brother was his priority.

“Hey,” he started softly. “It's over now. It was just a nightmare. You aren't there anymore. You are safe” Dan Heng said wrapping his arm around his brother and he pulled him close. His brother didn't protest and he wrapped his own arms around Dan Heng and buried his face in his shoulder. Dan Heng pretended that he didn't feel his shoulder getting wet.

That night wasn't the only night where Dan Feng had his violent outburst when he had a nightmare. There was one time when Yingxing was sleeping with him in the bed again when he was woken up by being kicked out of bed. Or when he was elbowed in his stomach when trying to wake him up which knocked the air out from him. 

Not even Blade escapes from this. Because Dan Feng was barely getting any rest because of the nightmares, he tends to nap sometimes in the evening. Preferably on the living room couch. Seeing that he was still stuck at home with nothing better to do. Blade promised that he would come by to the Penthouse once he had some free time at his garage and make him some quick lunch. 

And when he walked in the Penthouse Dan Feng was trapped once again in his nightmare. Poor man. Not even his naps are peaceful. And when Blade had tried to wake him up Dan Feng kicked him right where it hurt the most. Between his legs. At least he was snapped from his nightmare immediately and he apologized profundity for this. And Blade assured him that it was alright from his curled position on the ground with tears in his eyes.

Dan Feng apologized to everyone when he was hitting or kicking them. And he hates himself because he was creating pain for the people he cares about. He even suggested to lock his room so no one could get in or sleep alone until his nightmares calmed down.

Blade, Dan Heng, and Yingxing immediately protested. He shouldn't apologize for something like this. It wasn't his fault that he was reacting like this because of the nightmares with that man. And locking his room and sleeping alone was an absolutely stupid idea. Dan Heng even said that he would kick out the door if his brother would do that. Fortunately despite Dan Feng being extremely stubborn. He listened to him. 

Unfortunately, nightmares were only just the beginning. It might be because of lack of sleep or still because of the trauma he has because of that man. Because the next thing he knew. He started being paranoid.

   Dan Feng got tired of being stuck inside the house. Like all he does is sleeping or watching TV or reading. Not even cooking or cleaning around the house because of his ribs. In the end, he doesn't care if Yingxing, Dan Heng, or even Blade won't like it. He would go and do some godamn grocery shopping and no one would stop him.

He left the house with one of his less expensive car. It feels so good to finally be out from the apartment that becomes slowly more like a prison than home. And it feels good to drive again. He arrived at a small market and went inside to buy some food, snacks, and other necessary products.

Everything had gone well for a little while. Then at some point, while he was on the meet section he saw a man that was not that far away. He couldn't see his face because he was looking down. But his exhausted brain made him think that he was the man who made him go through hell. He was dressed like he had seen that man being dressed as well and his hair was shoulder length like him. His heart skipped a beat and he abandoned the meat section and he pushed the cart away. His heart was beating like crazy and his hands were shaking, pushing the cart.

What was worse is that when he moved to another section that man moved as well and he thought that he was following him. That happened in five different sections that he got so panicked he left the market abandoning his cart with groceries there. 

He was glad he didn't have an accident at how panicked he was when driving back home. Luckily when he arrived at the Penthouse, no one was home and no one knew that he got out today. Unfortunately, he didn't have anyone to comfort him now. By the time his brother, lover, and his brother's lover come back to the Penthouse, late at night, Dan Feng regained his composure and they won't know what happened today. And he didn't said anything either.

Dan Feng feel like he was going insane. Not only he can barely sleep because of the nightmares. But he misheard things or thinks that the man is after him. Even though his brain was telling him that he was behind bars now and he couldn't touch him anymore.

Besides the shopping incident, another thing happened when he was on a walk with Yingxing

 Two weeks after he was released from the hospital. He was in a park with his lover on an ice cream date. Everything was beautiful. But then he heard someone following them. He ignored it and he tried to enjoy his time with his lover in the beginning.

But the footsteps of the person that follows them didn't stop. He was that man. He was following him. To know where he lives and catch him when he's alone and vulnerable. It can't be anyone else because if it was they would have passed them by now. Not walking behind them. 

He could feel his heart beating like crazy and his hands were shaking. And at some point, Yingxing realized that something was wrong with his lover. When he looked at him he could see that he was pale as well. He was getting worried. “Baby. What's wrong?”Yingxing asked stopping walking which made Dan Feng stop as well.

Dan Feng wanted to yell at him to not stop because it was dangerous. But then the person that was supposedly following them; who turned out to be a boy with his dog; walked past them. And Dan Feng feels relieved and thinks that he was going insane at the same time. He shook his head. “It's nothing”

“Dan Feng. Your hand is trembling and you are pale. It's definitely not nothing”

“It's just a little cold that's all. And my ribs started hurting. They probably haven't healed completely yet” That was complete bullshit and he knew it. But for some reason, Yingxing believed him.

Another incident was when he finally could return to work after almost a month after being released from the hospital. Much to everyone's worry even after all this time, his nightmares are still going strong. 

Dan Feng was surprised when he saw how many people were happy to have their CEO back from his long business trip. Dan Heng told him about the lie he told the company. He feels warm. But he also returned to a lot of work too. His brother had tried as much as he could to take his work as well besides his work as COO. But he still has a lot. 

The incident was when his secretary gave him some of the paperwork he has to look through and sign. “He would come after you,” she said as she gave him the paperwork. Dan Feng's eyes winded at her unexpected words. “You can't escape. You can't hide. He would always find you. You belong to him”

“W-what?” he asked shocked and frightened.

“I said that besides these ones, there are more paperwork that awaits you, plus an important meeting. Sir. Are you alright?” she asked frowning worriedly.

Dan Feng shook his head and rubbed his eyes. “Yes. Yes. I misheard you. I thought you said something else. You can go”

With one more worried look his secretary turned around and she left. Dan Feng put his head in his hands. He was going insane.

This continued for weeks. And his family noticed all the time. And in the end, they decided that enough was enough and they needed to talk with Dan Feng about it.

“What's wrong?”Dan Feng asked sitting down on a chair, in the living room as he looked at everyone.

“You tell us, Dan Feng. What's wrong with you?”Blade asked. And Dan Feng looked confused at him.

“You started acting weird for a while. You are always tense and pale and flinch or jumpy “Yingxing said. 

“And don't say that it's nothing “Dan Heng added knowing his brother.

Dan Feng sighed. Knowing that no matter how he would try it, he can't avoid this situation. And maybe that's not a bad thing. Because he definitely needs help. He might as well start reaching for help. 

“You guys knew that I have nightmares” he started and everyone nodded. “I don't know if it's from lack of sleep. Or because of the trauma. But I started getting paranoid. If someone follows me, I think that it's that man. Someone even I misheard what people say. Instead of hearing what they say, I heard them saying that he's coming after me. That I can't escape him. And I don't know what to do. I'm so scared” Dan Feng said and his voice broke.

“Why didn't you tell us sooner?”Yingxing asked as he grabbed his lover's hand and he squeezed it. Rubbing it with his thumb.

“I didn't want to burden you with my problems. You are all busy with your work.”

“I stop you here because all you say is complete nonsense, “Dan Heng said with a glare. “No offense brother. But all your words all bullshit. You are our family. You are my big brother who raised me since I was six. You are definitely not a burden to us. And if you would have told us sooner, we will have helped you without any existence. Right?” he asked looking at Yingxing and Blade who nodded without any hesitation.

“Dan Feng. You are the love of my life. Do you really think that I will think helping you with your trauma would be a burden? No offense because if you thought that, you are pretty stupid. You are and never would be a burden. You helped me with my nightmares and when I had a flashback from my past. Do you really think that I won't do it for you as well?”

“Also” Blade started. “I'm a very straightforward guy. You can ask Dan Heng or my brother. If I thought you were a burden I would have said it immediately. But you are not. Do you really think that I will mind helping you with something? Or that I mind coming here cooking for you almost every day after what you did for my brother. Not at all”

Dan Feng looked down. He could feel tears pricking at his eyes. He feels so warm and loved. He can't believe that he thought any of these people would think that he was a burden to them.

“And. “Blade continued. “I know that you won't probably like this. But I think you need to seek professional help. We will help you. Of course. But a therapist would also be a big help as well “

Blade was right. He definitely didn't like the ideas. He definitely didn't like talking with a stranger about his problems. And it took a little convincing from everyone to seek professional help. 

In the beginning, he was hesitant to open up to the therapist. And it took several sessions before he actually started doing that. He was also prescribed medication for anxiety and sleeping pills. In the beginning, he thought that it wouldn't help. But as time passed, going to the therapist and having his family to help as well, actually started making him feel better. And little by little he started becoming the person he used to be.

Four months later

“Hurry up you snails. Or I’m going to leave without you three” Dan Feng said as he pressed on his car horn for the fourth time as he waited for his family to put the bags in the car. 

“Press that one more time and I will end you,” Dan Heng said as he glared at his brother and threw his brother back a little violently in the car.

“You know it would also be smoother if you would have helped as well,” Blade said as he put the last bags in the car before he climbed in the backseat with his lover who was still glaring at his brother.

“Nah. I prefer watching you struggle. It's entertaining” he said with an amused smile before he pressed on the horn again. “Hurry up Yingxing”

Yingxing climbed in the passenger seat. “I hate you, “he said with a fake glare.

“No you don't,” Dan Feng said as he leaned over and he pressed a kiss on his lover's lips.

“Yeah, you are right. I don't”

“I do” Dan Heng mumbled under his breath in the backseat and Dan Feng chuckled. Finally, he was back to normal. He stopped having nightmares and he wasn't paranoid anymore. And he managed to get some off time from work with Dan Heng for a while so they could go with Blade and Yingxing on a small trip to a couple of countries. 

“Are you all ready?”

he asked and received a corrus or yes before he started the car to drive towards the airport. He was finally happy once again.
