Chapter 1: The deal

Chapter Text

Miguel is an omega.

Ever since he’s been presented as one, he’s been pushed around by alphas at school. Forcing him to learn how to submit.

He hates it, but there’s nothing he could do. The alphas can smell him from miles away. Especially Kyler, who had to demonstrate what a disobedient omega gets every time he had the chance.

His mom worried sick. She couldn’t afford for him to go to an all-omega school, and Miguel doesn’t want to put more burden on her. Supporting a family on her own is already hard enough.

So, maybe he’ll just do what most omegas do. Get his head down, and hope that one day an alpha would protect him… if not claim him, that’s all they ever want anyway; to claim a young, freshly presented omega.

An alpha did come. But not in the way he’d imagined.

Johnny Lawrance steps in to kick the shit out of Kyler and his small pack. Demanding them not to harass Miguel again.

He changed Miguel's perspective about alphas completely. He helps Miguel out of actual sympathy, and takes him under his wings. Teaching him how to fight, and how to strike back— no, how to strike first.

Though the senior alpha of the Cobras, John Krease, was not on board on training an omega at first, his doubts slowly fades away when he sees how well Miguel turned out.

He became the champion. Taking down every alphas in the Cobra pack in sparring sessions, and taking down every enemy who dares to taunt them.

Still a champion, Miguel helped Johnny form the Eagle pack after he’s done with Krease. Some alphas even followed him, as they respect him like he’s one of their kind.

But training like an alpha comes with side effects. Every omega must have a fertilization test once every six months. Carmen would always take Miguel to one, as she and Rosa are the only one who knows about the result.

He’s at risk of being infertile.

When he first heard it from the doctor, part of him was nonchalant. Being able to get pregnant has nothing to do with his life anyway, he’s free to do whatever he wants, alpha Lawrance taught him that. But when he saw the shocked expression on his mother’s face, even though she tries to cover it later with a soft smile and ‘it’s okay, Miggy.’ He felt a little scared… and guilty.

Yes, being in a pack is nice and all, but it doesn’t help with the financial struggles of his family. Even alpha Lawrance is struggling himself. Is he losing an opportunity to attract a nice, rich alpha that would court him, and take good care of his family as well.

They all want a perfect omega: young, obedient, and ready to carry their child.

He hates the idea. He always wanted to be more than just someone’s prize to claim. But that’s how the world works. At least for now.

But that shouldn’t bother him for now anyway. He got later to be worried about that. Now, he just wants to live the best time and go crazy with his pack.

“Oh, fuck.” Hawk groans into his ear as he releases. Collapsing boneless on the boy under him, staying still for a few minutes to regain his breath. Before finally sliding out.

Lying on the bed, covered in sweat and panting, Miguel closes his eyes, resting just a bit while Hawk discards the used condom.

He then feels the space of the bed next to him dipped again, and that ticklish feeling of a nose nuzzling on his neck, inhaling.

“No.” he weakly protested when his partner trails kisses along his shoulder. “I’m gonna smell of you tomorrow.”

“Big deal.” Hawk chuckles, but he stops. “You're always covered with me. Everyone is used to it by now.”

“We have school tomorrow, Hawk.” He said, getting up to a sitting position with a loud groan. Reaching for his thrown away t-shirt on the floor earlier and putting it back on.

“Well,” Hawk said, still fully naked, scooting over and wrapping his arms around Miguel’s waist, “guess we shouldn’t mess around on school night in the first place.” He murmurs, sniffing close to Miguel’s open neck once again, licking off the sweat like they’re the juice from the sweetest fruit.

“Hawk-” Miguel was cautious. Omega’s necks are the most sensitive part. Letting an alpha who is not his mate gets this close to it without biting depends on a lot of trust.

“Relax.” The alpha whispers, moving his chin to rest on Miguel’s shoulder instead. “Come on, one night with your best bro?”

He sighs, shaking his head as he chuckles weakly. “You always say that.”

Yes, they are best friends. But Hawk is still an alpha, and Miguel is still an omega. So they settled an agreement of, let’s say, scratching each other’s back

“And your answer is always no.” Hawk mutters, pulling his arms back slowly.

This is why he could trust Hawk. He can be violence, well, when provoked. But he eventually always does what Miguel says.

“You know how my mom and my grandma would freak out if I don’t go back home for a night.” he explains while getting dressed. But turning around to see how disappointed Hawk is makes him soft.

“Aw,” Miguel fake pouts to tease his friend and cups his cheeks. Hawk didn’t protest, or pissed at all. He’s still Eli. Once the weakest, softest, humiliated alpha in the Valley until alpha Lawrance shaped him up.

Bright blue eyes longing over Miguel’s, like a puppy asking for a snack. “Maybe someday else, okay? I’ll give you one night. Promise.”

That earns a soft smile and a short sigh. He can smell how happier Hawk’s scent shows, even not much, but happier is happier.

“Just one night?” The alpha raised an eyebrow, resulting in a push on his shoulder as Miguel got out of bed. “You’re getting greedy.” He said before leaving the room.

Maybe one day he’ll trust Hawk… Eli enough to mate with him. Eli wouldn’t judge if he can’t bear a child, right?

You smell of alpha.” That’s the first sentence he was greeted with, opening the door to his apartment.

“Good evening, yaya.” He replies back with a cheeky smile.

“Hit the shower before your mom comes home and starts screaming.” She waves him off, focusing on the reruns of soap opera on the television. And Miguel drags his feet to the bathroom, doing what he is told.

The so-called smartphone vibrates violently, distracting Johnny from late night television.

“Goddamn it.” He huffs, getting up off his comfortable position, walking over to the device on the kitchen counter. “I’m coming, I’m coming!” yelling like the person on the other end could actually hear it.

‘Larusso.’

He frowns, hitting the accept button… the green one, like Miguel taught him.

“Isn’t it a bit too late? What do you w—” But before he could finish the sentence, Daniel starts talking with a distressed voice.

“Johnny, it’s the Cobra.”

The alpha of the Bonsai pack stated, and Johnny froze.

“Wha- What happened?” He asked back with concern, “Larusso, are you okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.”

Even though the Eagle and the Bonsai are two separate packs, their leader decided to form an alliance in fighting the same enemy for the territory of the Valley: the Cobra. They came to an agreement of sharing the area fairly, if they would win this war.

“They, uh, left a message for my pack.” Daniel says, sighing.

“What do you mean?”

“They trashed my place. Once again.”

Cheap shot. Sounds like Krease.

“Holy shit.” Johnny exclaims, “then let’s go kick their asses back.”

“No, Johnny, listen.” Daniel knows damn well that he’s serious. Wouldn’t be the first time Johnny reacts immediately after he’s provoked. “It’s just a heads up from me. They’d probably plan to do this to yours next. So stay on guard. Alert your pack.”

His tone was serious. Larusso’s right. Can’t walk right into that old dog’s trap, again.

The blonde alpha sighs, “okay. I’ll stay put. Keep me updated, alright?”

“Yeah, watch out, Johnny. Krease recruited Terry Silver to the Cobras. They are now co-leader. And he’s the worst alpha I’ve ever met. Be twice as careful.”

Johnny frowns, “Wait, slow down, Larusso, who is this Silver guy?”

“Long story. For another time.” The other alpha returns, “now I gotta go check on my pack. We’ll talk.”

and with that, the Bonsai’s leader hangs up. Leaving Johnny in his own rage.

Krease will not threaten him. He won’t be scared by that piece of shit anymore.

Next thing he knows, he was stomping out of his apartment to the room across the way. Not forgetting to knock gently. A few seconds later, Carmen opens the door for him.

“Hey, Johnny.” Her expression is skeptical. “what’s going on?”

“Hey.” He smiles dryly, badly covering up his worries. “I know it’s late, but is Miguel still up?”

“He’s in his room.” Carmen replies, “uh, Miggy?” she raises her voice, calling her son. Soon later they both hear a distance “yeah?”

“Johnny’s here.” She yelled back to her son. “Come inside.”

Johnny steps in, waiting for Miguel to come out of his room in pajamas. “Uh, what’s up, alpha?”

Damn, he smells of Hawk. A strong alpha can detect scents better than anyone. But he says nothing. These boys mess around with each other all the time anyway.

“There’s something you need to know.” He gets straight to the point.

“Okay, but, why can’t you just text me?”

“What?” the alpha frowns in confusion. “Why’d I do that? You’re just across from me. Do you know how much messages cost?”

Right… Miguel shouldn’t have started about smartphone functions on his alpha.

“Uh, nevermind. What is it that I have to know?” The omega shakes his head, diverting the subject.

He notices how the alpha’s expression shifts suddenly, the usual one when he’s serious.

The blonde alpha takes side glances at Carmen and Rosa, who’s sitting on the couch, before he speaks with a lower voice. “Let’s talk outside.”

Even his tone is serious. So Miguel nods silently, letting his alpha lead him out.

“The cobras just sent Larusso a message. Trashed his place. They might come to us soon.”

“What?” the omega’s eyes widened, “Is Sam okay?”

“Don’t worry. Nobody got hurt.” Johnny said, putting a hand on his shoulder firmly. “But we have to be careful, okay? They could strike anytime.”

“Yes, alpha.” Miguel nods. “And keep our pack informed.” he felt soft taps on his shoulder, “go to sleep now, alright? Get some rest.”

“Yeah… you too.” The boy smiles softly, before they part to each other’s room.

Miguel lies on his bed, shuffling side to side. He tried shutting his eyes tight but seems like he can’t stop the train of thoughts.

Well, of course, he’s afraid of the Cobra attack. Not because they are the better fighters, cause they’re not, but how low they could go. How they’d strike in the least expected time and take them off guard.  He’s been there before. Everyone has. Even alpha Lawrance, and he barely survived.

But if they’d dare come close to his mom and yaya, Miguel swears he’d rip them apart.

The ‘face off’ was unexpected. Instead of attacking in the shadows, the Cobras set up a meeting at Coyote creek with the Eagles.

Maybe Krease is still soft on Johnny, or maybe it’s a giant trap organized by Terry Silver, and they’re walking right into it.

“I don’t like this.” Miguel whispers to Hawk, as they keep walking past the trees.

“Me too.” The young alpha replies. “No matter what happens just stay behind me, alright?”

Miguel frowns, then he scoffs. “Okay, Hawk, you know damn well I can take care of myself.”

“Yeah, well- maybe I can take care of you too. And you’ll be taken care of twice.” Hawk paints that off as a dry joke, only earning a light chuckle from the omega.

“Okay,” The omega shrugs, before turning to the alpha next to him with a playful smile, “and who’s gonna take care of you?”

“Well, I–”

“There they are!”

The boys were cut short when they finally reached the meeting spot. Miguel gulps, falling back into the line formation the Eagles had planned. Hawk stepped in front of him and placed a hand on his thigh. Guarding.

“Let’s get this over with.” Alpha Lawrance steps in front of the pack, facing Krease with a furious look. “What do you want?”

But none of the cobra’s leaders seems to respond in the same manner, they look… almost relaxed. Definitely up to something.

An alpha Miguel has never seen before steps up. He’s big and tall, with confident posture. His whole presence is intimidating, even his scent. Must be Terry Silver.

“We only come bearing peace offering.” Silver smiles, in the most not comforting way at all.

“Yeah? And what’s that?” Johnny quickly replies, his voice as demanding and angry as it could be. Because he knows no matter what deal they’ve made, the eagles are losing advantages.

“Just need you to present your champion.” Krease adds, not answering his former apprentice’s question.

Every pair of eyes stared at the subject, piercing Miguel, who can’t help but shudder a little, and Hawk growls out in a protective form.

His eyes then meet Johnny’s. The pair of blues were quite hard to read when he finally called, “Mr. Diaz.”

Hawk reluctantly steps out of the way, and Miguel gulps before strutting to meet their enemies, only to be stopped by his alpha.

Johnny puts an arm up to prevent his best student from taking any further step, so he could still be guarding Miguel. “He won’t fight with whatever dirty shot you’ll pull on him.”

“Oh, we’re not asking for a fight.” Silver says too enthusiastically, almost sinister. “We just want him to bond with our new champion.”

The Cobra’s new leader turns around to beckon with his hand at a hidden figure, who then steps out of the shadow of the woods revealing himself.

Johnny's eyes went wide with shock, staring in disbelief. “Robby?”
