Chapter 1: Of Letters and Secrets

Chapter Text

"Gal? Galaxy! Galaxy!"

The young boy with the ashy brown hair all but stumbled into the house.
It looked mostly like any suburban house, maybe a bit old and worn by time, but it looked like normal humans motrals lived here.

This was far from the truth of course, if the apperance of the boy was any hint. He wore a long coat, that looked more like a robe and in his hand was a broom...it probably used to be a broom, but the end was filled with charms and pearls so it was very useless as a cleaning utensil.

The boy, a witch named Max, ran into the kitchen where he assumed his friend Galaxy was.
They were no where to be seen, admist the glasses of marmelade and the bottles of questionable potions that filled the countertops, just the back of a head with flamming red hair. The owner of said head turned around and smiled at Max.

"The little shit is upstairs jumping in circles because she also just got the same letter as you, she was almost ready to go to your place."

Core was parent to many children, so it was no surprise, that they had become so chill towards their offsprings. With Galaxy as their youngest it seemed like there was nothing that could truly shock them anymore.
It had also gotten them the habit of referring to their children as little shits or chaos gremlins.
Everyone who knew the witch was well aware of the love they felt for all of their children, even if sometimes in public they would get stares from others.

Core was barely able to finish their last sentence, was not even able to congratulate the boy, before Max had already stormed up the stairs, to a wooden door, that had been painted dark blue, different constelations and planets decorating the vast universe.
Max didn’t even take the time to knock and stormed inside where a girl roughly his size stood, her dark blue eyes wide at the sudden intrusion.

"Max? I got the Letter Gal, I will be a real witch. Can you believe it?"

The boy jumped up and down, grinning at his childhood-best friend.
The girl with long raven-black hair needed a few seconds to understand the waterfall of words that left Max´s mouth.

"Wha- Oh. No Way! Me too! We are gonna be witches! We are gonna be witches!"

The two teens grabbed each others hands and jumped in circles chanting for a few minutes. They had to take a short break, where they both looked at each other and asked, almost simultaneously.

"So when is yours?"

"So when is yours?"

Another moment of silence passed where both looked confused and had to stifle their own laughter. Max motioned to Galaxy, so she would speak first. The girl grinned, barely holding her excitement.

"The next full moon, which is in like two and a half weeks. When is yours?"

Max only handed her the letter.
Heavy old parchment, with a broken seal from where Max had ripped it open less then an hour prior. The ink was blue and shimmered in cromatic colours, when the light hit it.
But the important parts were the words, underlined in the middle of the text.

The next full moon.
Galaxy was silent and looked from the letter to Max then back to the letter and again to Max.

"B-but...does this mean?"

Max grinned and nodded slowly.

"Yeah. We are becoming witches together!"

"Omg! I cant believe it! What am I gonna wear? What are we gonna wear? What are we gonna do? Like what magic trick are we gonna perform? Oh shiiit...it is gonna have to be a big one, I mean look at my family, we are like the biggest family when it comes to witchcraft. Everyone knows us, well my siblings and Pa."

"Galaxy-"

"Is there anything I could do tat would even reach that? What if I fail what if I am not good enough?"

Max looked slightly exhausted from that and just took Galaxy´s face in his hands.

"What?"

Before the girl could start another rant he continued.

"Do you even know, what they did? Like during their performance? Why are they so special? Like don’t get me wrong, they are like everywhere and there is no way ´round it, but what makes you so special?"

Galaxy sat down and looked at Max.

"I don’t know, whenever I asked I was always told I was too young to know and that I would not understand it yet."

Max looked unbelieving at Galaxy.

"You are telling me that you don’t know, why your siblings are called the children of magic? Did they ever tell you when you are old enough?"

The girl shrugged.

"When I am a full witch...so I always assumed after the ceremony...but we can go ask them!"

Now Max was exited again.

"With Core´s crystal-sphere?"

Galaxy jumped from her bed and ran to the door, grabbing a broom that looked similar to Max´s.

"Nope….buuuut we could go and visit them...I know the way to Lia´s place…"

Max grinned and grabbed his own broom.

"Let´s go!"
