September 5th, 9988 T.C. (roughly 12,478 A.D.) Imperial Capital, Alcamoth. Bedroom of both the Empress of the High Entia and her consort.
It had been another long, but fulfilling day for the former Hero of Fate. Every now and then Luke liked to reminisce on just how much his life had changed ever since he became the new Hero of Fate. From him facing the biggest trials he has ever faced, to meeting all of his friends and his wife who mean the world to him, to slaying a god, to becoming royalty, Luke was stunned at how much changed for him in such a short time, and yet, he couldn’t have been happier.
“I guess Dunban was right, with good faith brings a good life and fate.” Luke said as he ran a hand through his bushy blue hair.
He continued to lose himself in his own thoughts as he changed into his nightwear, which consisted of a dark blue tee shirt and black shorts (He already took his shower earlier, so he could just go ahead and change into more comfortable clothes). Currently he was waiting on Melia to finish her shower so they could both go to sleep for the night (Melia did tell Luke he doesn’t have to wait on her, but he insists, as he doesn’t want to go to sleep without his wife by his side). While Melia was normally quick with her shower, she was taking a bit longer than usual, which Luke didn’t mind, as he does have a high level of patience, but he couldn’t help but be a little concerned.
“I hope she’s okay.” Luke said with a hint of worry in his voice. He thought about going to check up on her himself, but he didn’t want to disturb her during her shower, not to mention, Luke doesn’t like walking in on a woman when they don’t have any clothes on, especially in the case of his wife.
Meanwhile…
As Melia was nearing the end of her shower, she couldn’t help but get lost in her own thoughts too. She was in the middle of washing her wings (which were always the last thing she washed whenever she bathed) when a sudden thought struck her. This is something she has thought about before, but it just came back to haunt her every time she wondered about it.
The fact that she was with someone who loves her and she loves.
The fact that she married someone who loves her and she loves.
“But, do I really deserve him and his love?” Melia couldn’t help to whisper to herself, with a tear almost running down her face.
Melia soon realized she was taking longer than she normally does, so she turned the water to the shower off, dried herself off, brushed her hair, and put on her grey nightgown.
“I hope he doesn’t notice my concern.” Melia thought, given Luke’s track record with how easy it is for him to tell if someone’s emotionally distressed.
Melia stepped out of the bathroom and walked to both her and her husband’s bed. Luke was happy to see his wife, but the smile didn’t last long.
“Is everything alright Honey?” Luke asked as Melia sat right next to him on the bed.
“Of course Love, nothing to worry about.” Melia told him, but she said it unconvincingly, which prompted Luke to place a hand on her chin and gently point her head up.
“Sorry if me saying this sounds a little rude, but I know that’s a lie, I can tell just from the look in your eyes.” Luke said with concern in his eyes, which made Melia a little startled, but she tried to keep herself together. “I’m not gonna force you to tell me if don’t want to Melly, but remember, I’m your husband, your partner, if anything’s ever bothering you, don’t be afraid to tell me.” Luke said with the most earnest and thoughtful sounding voice ever, which caused Meila to nearly cry from just how much her husband cared about her, even after being together for two years and being married for six months, she still found it hard to believe that she finally found happiness with someone but it was with someone who she developed feelings for because of who they are as a person, something that she hasn’t felt since she met Shulk, but she didn’t think it would ever happen again, but she was proven wrong when she met Luke, and the two of them started becoming close and from realizing how alike her and Luke were and finding his kindness and selflessness very admirable, it led to Melia developing feelings for him, which he reciprocated for the same reasons. She couldn’t hold in anymore, she immediately started crying into her husband’s chest, which subsequently caused Luke to wrap his arms around her in concern and pull her into an embrace.
“Melia?” Luke asked his wife with more concern than ever.
“How?” Melia said with teary eyes.
“Hmm?” Luke asked with concerned eyes.
“How did all of this happen to me? I fell in love with someone for who they are, a feeling I didn’t know if I would ever feel again, but this time I actually ended up with the man I fell for. I found that with you Luke, someone who understands me more than anyone, someone who I love for who they are, but sometimes, I wonder if I truly-“ Melia was about to continue before Luke placed a finger on her lips, which caused her to look up and see those gentle, yet loving light blue eyes that she loved him for, but it hurt to look at them right now.
“I know what you’re about to say, and my answer to that question, is yes, you absolutely deserve my love and affection Melly.” Luke said as he continued to hold onto his wife, with Melia’s tears still rolling down her face.
“But-“ Melia was about to counterclaim before Luke silenced her with his finger again.
“Why do you think I always want nothing more than to see you smile? Why do you think I wanted my consort suit to have the same design patterns as your dress? Why do you think I chose to take on your last name when we got married?” Luke asked Melia, which caused her eyes to widen as it suddenly hit her.
“Because you are my light.” Luke continued as he placed his forehead on Melia’s, “My everything. I always want to try my best to make you happy, even if it’s with little things like those. You genuinely have the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen, and I’d do anything to keep seeing it. Regardless of what comes between us, even if the passage of fate throws everything at us, you will always be in my heart, and will always deserve my love and affection, especially given what you’ve been through, and you will continue to deserve it until the moment we take our final breaths. I love you Melly.”
“Luke…” Melia said with a quivering voice, she long since stopped crying, but she couldn’t help but just soak in what all she just heard. Luke was truly hers and she loved him deeply for how sweet and considerate he is and his genuine affection towards her. He was everything she wanted in a husband and more.
That’s it. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. She immediately placed her lips on Luke’s and Luke was immediately caught off guard, but it didn’t take him long to savor the kiss and readjust his position. The Empress and her husband shared a soft, yet firm and loving kiss. Luke didn’t increase his pace or pressure, nor did he soften up or let loose as he continued to press his wife’s soft lips against his own. Melia hooked her arms around Luke’s neck and ran her fingers through his hair. Normally Luke didn’t like it when people messed up his hair, but with Melia he was willing to make an exception. They kissed for nearly two minutes before they had to separate their lips for air. When Luke looked at Melia, she had the biggest smile on her face, showing that she was feeling happy in that moment.
“Thank you Love. Sorry if I was worrying you too much, I guess I let my own insecurities get to my head too much.” Melia told Luke as they both caught their breath.
“It’s alright Melly,” Luke told his wife, “it happens to all of us from time to time. I mean, remember when I used to be bad about letting my insecurities get the better of me?”
Melia chuckled, very much remembering how her husband used to be two years ago in regards to his insecurities.
“Of course I do. But I do have a question to ask.” Melia said, looking up at Luke.
“And that would be?” Luke asked in return.
“Could we stay like this tonight Love?” Melia asked, referring to the position her and Luke were in, with Melia on Luke’s chest with his arms wrapped around her.
“Of course, you don’t even have to ask for that, if you want, just say so and we’ll do it.” Luke gladly told her, which made Melia smile.
“Thank you.” Melia said to her husband. After turning off the lights in their room, Luke and Melia cuddled up together on their bed, with Melia laying on top of Luke and resting her head and left hand on his pecs, fixing her wings to so she can lay on him more comfortably, and Luke wrapping both of his arms around Melia’s back, with his right arm wrapped around her waist and his left arm wrapped around her upper back.
“Is this okay?” Luke asked as Melia looked up to him with loving eyes, becoming completely entranced by his steady heartbeat.
“It is, thank you for giving me the world Luke. Good Night. I love you, so very deeply.” Melia said, which caused Luke to smile.
“I love you too Melia, and I always will, Forever and ever.” Luke said with that genuine voice his wife adored.
After a quick peck on the lips, the two lovebirds adjusted themselves a little bit more to get comfortable before they blissfully fell asleep in each other’s arms. Loving each other more and more with each passing day. They couldn’t have been more happier to have met each other, and they couldn’t imagine a future or a fate without the other.
