Chapter Text
Ruby was alone in her room, carefully packing various articles of clothing, vials of dust, and other necessities into her luggage case in preparation for her and her sister’s trip. She still wasn’t sure about the idea of spending a week in Vale, away from the Schnee Manor, away from Atlas, but she had little choice, both her sisters Weiss and Winter agreed she should go, if only so Weiss had someone to spend the week with as she learned to navigate the city before the school year at Beacon began. “It’s still a whole month away from even starting.”
She thought to herself, “Weiss could have done this any other time, and she certainly didn’t have to drag me with her, but I guess Winter can’t go instead, she’s still dealing with the board.”
She glanced around her room attempting to find anything else that she could take with her just in case, the room was extremely clean, large, and spacious with blue walls covered with various posters and schematics. There was a large ornate window looking out to the city of Atlas below covered by white curtains, a messy king-sized bed that was covered in a massive amount of stuffed animals and had bed-curtains with white rose patterns weaved into them.
Around the room were various bookshelves filled with a vast array of books, video games, figurines, and other types of memorabilia, a small table with two chairs next to a fireplace that had a large holographic screen above it, a large wardrobe which contained all the clothes and shoes she didn’t pack away, a dressing table which was rarely used outside of when she needed to prepare for special occasions, and a large unkempt workstation in the corner.
She walked over to the workstation and picked up a set of two bracelets and a sword she based off of an ancient Vacuan weapon known as a ‘Scimitar’; her weapons ‘Glateis’ and ‘Eisblühen’, both were her pride and joy, both designed and made by herself, a sign of something she could do that could help her stand out yet still help her fit in amongst her family. She went over and put them within her luggage case, “That should be everything…I hope.” She sighed to herself.
As she closed her luggage case a knock came at her door followed by the familiar voice of Klein, the family butler. “Miss Schnee, The transport is here and your sister is waiting.”
“Coming, Just need some help.” She grunted as she tried to lift her luggage, thinking that she perhaps may have put too much into the case, it was her first trip outside Atlas after all so that was to be expected.
As soon as she said that Klein had entered the room. “Allow me to assist you then, Miss Schnee.” The rather short, somewhat heavyset balding man said before lifting her luggage case with ease “Come now Miss Schnee, Let's get you to the Bullhead, I am certain you will enjoy your trip to Vale. I’ve heard that it is quite lovely this time of year.” he said as he walked out of the room carrying Ruby’s luggage.
As Ruby followed him she quickly stopped and looked at the dressing table mirror against the wall, her silver eyes looking at her short red-tipped white hair “No matter what I do I can never get rid of you can I?” she said as she rubbed the red tips that made her stand out so much amongst her family between her fingers. She then looked over her current attire to make sure it was properly well-kept and clean before she left.
She was wearing a white thigh-length dress with sleeves that went past her elbows with floral patterned lacing at the bottom of the dress and the ends of the sleeves as well also having the Schnee family emblem emblazoned over her left breast. Alongside this she also wore a white red-laced corset that was wrapped around her waist, pale grey leggings, white block-heeled pointed pumps, a red cloak that had its hood down, and a pendant around her neck with a small silver rose emblem at the end.
Her gaze then shifted to a small photo frame that rested atop the dressing table. It contained a photograph of her when she was five, her older sister Weiss when she was seven, and their eldest sister Winter when she was twelve alongside their mother Willow and a woman in red, gold, and black with red-tipped black hair, her other mom, Summer Rose, the last photo ever taken of her before she vanished.
Suddenly Ruby heard Klein’s voice calling for her which snapped her back to reality. She quickly left her room and dashed through the large manor, using her Semblance all the while to assist her as she made her way to the manor’s private heliport. Although she despised her semblance for being different to the rest of her family’s, she could not deny that it still had its uses, even if the servants hated needing to constantly clean up the stray white rose petals left in her wake everytime she used it.
As Ruby finally reached the heliport she found her sister Weiss and Klein both standing outside waiting for her, both their luggage having already been packed away within the Bullhead. “Sorry, sorry, sorry, still just kinda nervous about all of this.” Ruby sheepishly apologised to the two.
“Your tardiness is excused Ruby, I know it's quite the change of pace for the both of us but I’m certain once this week's over you’ll be clamouring to come back to Vale, and not only to visit your big sister.” Weiss replied, warmly smiling at her sister.
The two began to board the Bullhead, both waving goodbyes to Klein as he waved back in return, wishing them both a great vacation and hoping they both take care of themselves whilst the doors closed in front of them and the Bullhead started to take flight.

Hours had passed since Ruby and Weiss boarded the Bullhead set for Vale. Originally the two had spent the early hours of the trip talking with each other about various topics, but after a while the conversations had died down and now they were both relaxing as the Bullhead continued its journey.
Weiss was on her scroll researching the locations of various stores in Vale that she believed were of key importance to her future four year stay in the city whilst she was attending Beacon, Dust shops, restaurants, libraries, clothing stores, weaponsmiths, and the such, alongside also researching potential places to take her sister to whilst they were on their vacation.
Meanwhile Ruby was also on her scroll reading, but instead she was reading the latest chapter of a comic she loved that had apparently been based on a renowned huntress of the same name, ‘The Grimm Reaper’; but unlike Weiss, she was reading to steady her nerves, to not think about spending a week in Vale, to not think about how she was going to handle being alone once Weiss started attending Beacon. Despite this the thoughts still creeped into her mind, worries about how she was going to be by herself, with Weiss in a different kingdom, Winter spending most of her time dealing with the SDC’s board, and their mother too busy getting so drunk that she couldn’t even recognize her own children; Sure she still had Klein, but her sisters meant the world to her, they were always there for her even if she frequently got frustrated at how much they managed her life for her, despite this she didn’t even know what she would do without them there for her.
Weiss looked up from her scroll and looked at Ruby, immediately knowing that she was beginning to get lost in her negative thoughts, something she was all too accustomed to seeing. Weiss rushed over to her sister. “Ruby! Are you okay?” She asked in an effort to snap her sister back to reality.
“Y-yeah… just, just nervous is all.” Ruby replied, her head still somewhat lost in her thoughts.
“Is it because of our vacation? Or is it me leaving for Beacon?” Weiss questioned as she stroked her sister’s hair, desperate to ease her worries and comfort her.
“B-both, I just… I don’t know, I don’t know what I’m going to do without you or Winter… and Vale’s so different from Atlas and, and…” Ruby answered, once more beginning to spiral and lose herself in her thoughts.
“It’ll be ok Ruby” Weiss said as she hugged her sister, all the while continuing to stroke her hair. “This is why we thought it was a good idea you come to Vale with me for the week, so that you can see for yourself that I’ll be fine, and I know you’ll be fine without me in Atlas, we can always call each other and I’m certain Winter will find a way to spend more time for you, you’re our adorable little sister after all.”
“Thanks Weiss” Ruby replied, reciprocating the hug her sister gave her.
“Anytime Ruby” Weiss responded.
“Can… Can we just stay like this for a little longer? The hug I mean…” Ruby asked, wanting to keep in her sister's comfort for just a little while longer, afraid to let go of her sister so quickly.
“Gladly.” Weiss answered, also cherishing her sister’s hug, knowing all the while that eventually Ruby would have to learn to stand on her own two feet and show the world what she was capable of, without her sisters being there to baby her all the time.

Several more hours passed until eventually the Bullhead had reached its destination, a landing pad within the city of Vale along the northern reaches of the Upper Class district.
Once the Bullhead had completed its descent its doors had begun to open, where both Ruby and Weiss were greeted by their chauffeur, a rather elderly but still somewhat well-built man who looked to be in his late sixties.
“Good evening Madames, My name is Alistair Reed, I will be serving as your chauffeur.” He greeted, “Now then, allow me to take your belongings off of your hands and please follow me.” He continued, taking both Ruby’s and Weiss’s luggage with ease as he began to walk towards a large white limousine, with both of the girls following behind.
As Ruby and Weiss stepped inside the limousine they had found it was rather spacious with a leather couch and a glass table inside it, several champagne glasses and a beverage dispenser containing sparkling water were found resting atop of the table whilst a large holographic screen sat above it. Once Ruby and Weiss sat down on the couch and each poured themselves a glass of sparkling water the limousine had begun to move, beginning its journey to the hotel.
The drive itself did not take long compared to the flight from Atlas to Vale, a mere half an hour’s drive. Once the limousine had stopped, Alistair left the vehicle, soon opening the door at the back of the limousine for Ruby and Weiss. “We have arrived madames, welcome to the ‘Refulgent Reverie Resort’, the grandest hotel in all of Vale.
As the two girls stepped out of the vehicle they found themselves standing before a towering golden structure surrounded by various garden beds containing numerous perfectly maintained flowers, bushes, and trees alongside several glistening fountains and an array of marble statues depicting huntsmen and huntresses of all kinds, with a large velvet red carpet with a golden border right in front of them leading towards the massive gilded glass entrance to the hotel.
Ruby and Weiss stood in awe at the hotel, whilst they knew that Atlas had more magnificent structures, their mansion being one of them, it was still quite impressive to see Vale had something comparable to them. Ruby and Weiss quickly came to their senses and entered the hotel, walking in front of a bellhop that was transporting their luggage.
Once the girls had entered the hotel’s lobby they once more found themselves impressed at the sight, a massive glistening golden room with a large fountain in its centre behind the reception desk, numerous abstract paintings hung up along its walls, several ornate chandeliers hanging from above, alongside various potted plants, chairs, couches, and tables all intricately organised throughout the lobby; All the while classical music was playing in the background.
As the two girls walked up to the reception desk they were both greeted by a middle aged woman whose pupils were slit, akin to a snake’s. “Greetings, you both must be Ruby and Weiss Schnee. It is a pleasure to have you both here at our lovely establishment for the week. Please, follow me, I’ll take you two to your suite.”
Weiss’s eyes narrowed at the sight of the woman. “No thank you, just tell us what floor our room is on and we’ll be on our way.” she replied, her voice having lost any sign of courtesy she would have typically shown otherwise; Meanwhile Ruby attempted to hide behind her elder sister, clearly trying to avoid the woman in front of them once she realised what she was, hands slightly trembling all the while.
“Oh… I see, your room is at the top floor of the hotel, the royal suite, take the centre elevator as it's the only one that leads there. Here are your access keys, just swipe it in front of the control pad and it will take you directly there.” the woman responded despondently as she handed them both a keycard, with Weiss snatching both of them out of her hand as she began to walk towards the elevators at the back of the hotel, with Ruby staying close behind, her eyes nervously darting back towards where the receptionist was every few seconds.
As the two entered the elevator Weiss looked and saw a control panel to the side that had various buttons on it representing each of the floors of the hotel and a scanner above, she swiped her card against the scanner and the doors began to close with the elevator starting to move soon after. “It’ll be alright Ruby, I’ll keep you safe.” She sighed as she softened her posture, turning her head to look at her younger sister still hiding behind her. “You don’t need to worry now.” She continued, giving a reassuring smile to Ruby.
“O-oh, right, S-Sorry” Ruby responded, moving herself from behind Weiss to right next to her.
“There’s no need to apologise Ruby, it’s not your fault, we'll just need to be more on-guard is all.” Weiss replied, once more attempting to reassure her sister.
At the exact moment she finished her sentence the elevator came to a halt and the doors opened, the two stepped out and found themselves in a large lounge with several sofas and chairs around a glass table with a holographic screen hanging on the right wall and a hallway along the right wall, alongside this the furthest wall from them was instead a large clear window with a sliding door in the middle that lead out to a balcony with a jacuzzi that overlooked the city below.
As the two continued to explore their suite they came across various rooms ranging from a bathroom and personal spa, a kitchen with a bar attached, and the like before finally coming across their bedrooms, both directly next to each other and both containing a king-sized bed on one end of the room with a large holographic screen and a media cabinet against the other wall next to a door leading into a walk-in wardrobe, all the while their respective luggage cases rested on the floor at the foot of their beds, both still unpacked.
“I must admit, whilst the hotel itself is rather impressive for an establishment not from Atlas, the staff themselves are somewhat lacking in the proper training on how to treat their guests however.” Weiss remarked. “Oh well, I suppose we should start unpacking, don’t you agree Ruby?” she continued, with Ruby nodding in agreement as both went into their respective rooms.
Immediately the first thing Ruby did was open her suitcase and take out a small stuffed plushie of a Beowolf, a gift her mom bought for her when she was born, the colour of its fabric had somewhat faded, it was missing an eye, and it had a small hole at the end of its snout but despite the wear and tear of time on it Ruby loved it all the same. Ruby hugged the plush whispering to it “It’ll be alright Wolfie, we’re only here for a week.” Before setting it down gently atop the bed.
Next she took out the two bracelets and the sword, setting them down atop the media cabinet before moving to unpack her clothes, books, and other belongings she brought with her.

Ruby having finished packing laid in her bed, casually watching on the large holographic screen in front of her a tournament match between the esteemed champion Pyrrha Nikos and some other opponent she didn’t care much for, the match was marketed as Pyrrha’s final one before she left to attend a huntsmen academy.
“Wonder which one she’ll go to, maybe Haven since she’s Mistrali.” Ruby thought to herself, watching the tall red headed girl break her opponent's aura, cementing her victory once more as she had done many times in the past.
Just as Ruby was about to let out a cheer in celebration, she suddenly heard a knock on the door and scrambled to turn the volume down, afraid that Weiss was going to come in and complain about the noise again.
“Ruby?” Weiss asked as she opened the door, wearing her white nightgown and seeing her sister sitting on her bed with the remote in hand. “I’m going to be heading to bed early, tomorrow will be rather busy for the both of us so it might be wise that you also attempt to get an early night’s rest.” She continued.
“Oh, uh, good idea, Goodnight Weiss.” Ruby replied, sheepishly smiling at her sister.
“Goodnight, Ruby.” Weiss responded back, returning a warm smile to her sister.
As Weiss closed the door behind her Ruby laid back down in her bed, yet despite that she was unable to find any desire to prepare for bed this early, her mind was too restless thinking about everything once again, from Weiss leaving for Beacon to Winter’s constant struggle fighting to regain control of the SDC.
Minutes continued to pass with Ruby spending them staring up at the ceiling as she laid in her bed. “Winter always said that going on quiet walks helped her when she was struggling to sleep, might as well test that myself.” She thought as she got up and walked to the door, “Oh right, almost forgot!” She said as she quickly went back and picked up her bracelets and sword from the media cabinet. “Winter always told us the importance of keeping something to protect ourselves nearby if we went out alone.” She continued saying to herself as she slipped her bracelets onto her arms and hung her sword against her hip.
As Ruby left her room and walked past Weiss’s she debated to herself over if she should ask Weiss to accompany her, she surely had a better idea of Vale’s layout afterall. “No, Weiss wanted to go to sleep early.” She thought to herself. “And I suppose it might be fun to humour her, she always kept telling me that she wouldn’t be there to care for me forever after all.” She continued thinking as she pulled herself away from the door and made her way to the elevator, selecting the ground floor on the control panel. “It’s not like anything will happen, It’s just a little walk.” She mused to herself as the elevator began its descent.
/–/
Once the elevator reached its destination and the doors opened, Ruby entered the lobby and made her way to the entrance way, donning her hood as she carefully avoided the crowds of people that were now within the lobby, not wishing to be noticed by anyone who might recognize her.
After exiting the hotel Ruby found herself amidst the streets of the upper class district, with brightly lit street lamps that illuminated the darkness of the night. Although it was said that the district was the closest place in Vale to Atlas in regards to appearance, the streets still held a different feel to the city she called home, it was more reminiscent of the little she had seen of Mantle, although much cleaner and wealthier.
She soon began to walk away from the hotel, having little care for where she was going, only intending to follow her heart until she began to tire out, where she then intended to call a taxi back and get herself ready for bed.
Eventually Ruby left the upper class district and entered Vale’s commercial district, a place which she noticed had a distinctly more archaic design compared to the upper class district that was directly next to it.
As she continued to walk through the district, taking in all the different shops and how different they were compared to the various shops and malls she was used to in Atlas, she saw one which caught her eye ‘ From Dust Till Dawn ’. “I suppose there’s nothing wrong with taking a look inside, plus not like there’s anything wrong with stocking up on some extra Dust either.” She thought as she began to enter the building.
Ruby opened the door with a bell connected to it ringing as she did so and was greeted by the old bald man at the counter. “Welcome, what can I do for you lil missy?”
“O-oh um, Nothing in particular, I just wish to have a humble look around your lovely store sir.” Ruby nervously replied, reverting to the more formal speech she took on around strangers.
“I see, well then, take all the time you need, and don’t be afraid to come to me if you need anything.” He responded back, having clearly not noticed the Schnee emblem on her dress.
Ruby continued to walk through the store, noticing that it was quite different to the Dust stores back in Atlas, and not just in terms of appearance; the glass front counter had various Dust crystals on display, various glass storage pipes containing powdered Dust were attached to the walls along the sides of the store, and there were several shelves behind the counter which held jars of Dust, Dust measuring machines, various boxes and containers meant for storing Dust, and other such things that Ruby could identify with ease due to her upbringing.
Eventually Ruby made her way to the back of the store where two magazine racks stood, she went over to them and picked up a magazine that was rather plainly named ‘Weapons Magazine’ and began to read through it, interested in what other types of weapons were used across Remnant.
The door to the store opened once again, making another ringing sound as it did so. Just as the old shopkeeper was about to greet whoever had entered he found himself against the end of a cane pointing directly at him. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?” the man at the other end of the cane remarked.
“P-Please just take my Lien and leave!” The old shopkeeper pleaded.
Ruby immediately heard the old man’s pleas and turned around, looking at the scene that was unfolding before her eyes as she hid behind one of the many shelves where she could clearly see an orange haired man in a suit and bowler hat pointing his cane at the shopkeeper as several other suited men began to enter the store behind him.
“Shh, shh, shh, shh, calm down, we’re not here for your money. Grab the Dust.” The orange haired man said as he ordered his followers who soon began to get to work, taking the crystals from the counter and filling up tubes with powdered dust.
Despite Ruby desperately wanting to flee the store she knew that she had to stop this from happening, not only because of her strong sense of justice but because of her pride as a Schnee. As she got up from behind the shelf she was hiding behind one of the several henchmen spotted her.
“HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!” He barked at her.
Ruby slowly began to raise her arms but instead quickly moved them and tapped one of her bracelets, it began to extend out into a silver coloured gauntlet which covered her entire forearm and hand with several coloured vials emerging out of it.
Before the man had a chance to react she blasted him with a powerful gravitational shockwave from the purple glowing light at the centre of her palm, sending the man flying backwards into the wall behind him, destroying several of the glass storage pipes that rested against the wall in the process.
The orange-haired man quickly turned his attention away from the shopkeeper and looked at the wall that one of his hired goons ended up flying into, quickly moving his head to look at the hooded girl at the other side.
“Okayyyy… GET HER!” He yelled as his goons began making their way towards her.
Immediately upon hearing that Ruby tapped on her other bracelet and pulled out her sword as the bracelet extended out into a matching silver gauntlet. She deftly dodged one of the goons' attempts to attack her and struck them with her sword in return.
Ruby rapidly closed and opened her free hand, the light in the centre of the gauntlet’s palm changing several times until she settled on a light blue, she then promptly slammed the hand down to the floor, causing ice to emerge from the gauntlet and completely coat part of the floor in ice. Another goon tried to attack her only for her to completely evade his attack using her semblance, causing him to slide on the slippery ice and crash directly into the wall.
/–/
Just as Ruby was about ready to fight against her next opponent she was blasted through the windows of the store. Quickly recovering her senses she saw the orange-haired man step through the shattered glass with several henchmen in tow.
She steeled herself and clicked a button on her sword, causing the blade to split apart and disconnect from each other, connected only by a thin wire. She swung the newly transformed sword’s bladed-whip form at them, with it making a cracking noise through the air as she did so. The orange-haired man jumped over the attempted strike whilst most of his goons were not as lucky, being knocked off their feet by it.
The orange-haired man looked at his young opponent, her hood having long fallen off her head exposing her white red-tipped hair to him, he then quickly noticed the emblem on her left breast. “Never thought I’d be fighting a Schnee but I guess every day’s a new experience” he joked to the girl.
“And tomorrow you’ll experience what it’s like to be behind bars!” Ruby retorted back to him, returning the whipped blade back to herself as she clicked another button, the weapon now transforming into a revolver barreled rifle.
“You know Mommy’s money ain’t gonna help you put me behind bars Snowflake, money can’t buy you everything after all.” He quipped, angering her further as she continued to fire a barrage of dust rounds from her rifle which he easily blocked with his cane as his last remaining henchman slowly advanced on her discreetly.
As she continued firing and reloading her rifle the last standing henchman managed to sneak up behind her and trap her in a bearhug, causing her to drop her weapon. She struggled to escape the man's grasp, desperately attempting to swap the current active dust on both of her gauntlets.
Eventually she found what she was looking for, a bright red light shining from her gauntlets, she quickly grabbed the man's legs and activated them, causing the goon to recoil back in pain and let her go as her gauntlets burned away at him, leaving a slight tinge of burnt flesh in the air as she did so.
Ruby then quickly picked up her weapon and pressed another button, causing it to transform back into its scimitar mode as she saw a bullhead fly over the top of the store with the orange-haired man ascending towards it. She activated her semblance and rushed towards the rooftop in pursuit, refusing to let the man escape, white petals being left behind in her wake as she scaled the building.
“Persistent…” the orange-haired man remarked at the Schnee, seeing her chase after him as he quickly boarded the bullhead just as another bullhead began to emerge onto the scene, one he identified as being piloted by a huntress.
“WE GOTTA HUNTRESS ON THE SCENE, TIME TO MOVE!” He yelled at his pilot as the bullhead began to fly away, escaping, leaving Ruby stranded atop the rooftop as the second bullhead began its descent.
Once the bullhead had landed out stepped a tall middle-aged woman with light blonde hair wearing a white long-sleeved pleated blouse, a black pencil skirt, brown stockings, black boots, and a purple cape. The woman quickly approached Ruby and began to sternly reprimand her. “I hope you understand that Schnee or not your actions tonight will not be taken lightly young lady, do you understand that you put yourself and others in danger with the stunt you pulled.”
“I…” Ruby began to speak, only to quickly grow embarrassed at herself. “You have my apologies miss.” She instead replied, voice filled with shame at the damage she caused attempting to stop the attempted robbery.
“If it were up to me I’d call your sisters and have you sent straight back to Atlas… But there is someone who’s been rather interested in meeting you ever since you and your sister arrived in Vale, Miss Schnee.” the woman continued, leaving Ruby staring at her utterly confused by what she meant.
/–/
Weiss awoke to the sound of her scroll buzzing from the nightstand she left it on, she picked it up and saw that Ruby was calling. “Ruby?” She groggily answered, still somewhat half-asleep. “What’s wrong?” She continued, attempting to wake herself up.
“Uhm… can you come to the police station in the commercial district?” Ruby asked.
“Why?” Weiss sharply responded, her mind having snapped awake as she heard Ruby’s words.
“Well, I uh… I-I was having some trouble s-sleeping and deci-decided to go for a walk like W-Winter tends to do aaaaaaand… I sort of. Got. Involved in stopping a robbery, and now I’m sort of b-being held at the police station talking with the headmaster of Beacon.” Ruby nervously replied.
“YOU WHAT!” Weiss shouted into the scroll, startling her sister on the other end.
“But Weiss Wait!” Ruby exclaimed, desperate to tell her the rest of what had transpired.
“No buts Ruby, I’m coming over right this moment.” Weiss stated, absolutely panicked and furious that this had happened.
Weiss immediately got out of bed and changed into some more appropriate wear for heading out.
As Weiss left the hotel her mind raced with various thoughts and scenarios and emotions swirling as she was filled with worry for her younger sister, fury at her going out by herself, concern for how Winter would react, and a slight confusion as to why the headmaster of Beacon was with Ruby alongside a veritable other amount of emotions.
Once Weiss reached the police station she slammed the door open, exclaiming “I am Weiss Schnee, where is my sister?!” The officers looked at her slightly stunned, eventually one nervously gulped and pointed towards a hallway replying as he did so “Y-your sister’s down the hall m-ma’am, s-second door to the l-left.” To which Weiss began to furiously stomp towards.
Weiss barged open the door to the room where her sister was being held, she gave a slight glance to the silver haired man in a green suit sitting across from her sister as she continued stomping towards her, her sister’s face staring at her in both shock and horror.
“What were you thinking, deciding to go out by yourself this late at night? Winter's a grown woman and you are fifteen years old! And do you have any idea how worried I was? What if you got hurt or worse? I couldn’t bear to see you hurt; And what will Winter think? Knowing that our idea of having you come with me to Vale resulted in you attempting to stop a robbery you had no business involving yourself with! And what if the media hears of this? We already have them constantly harassing us enough as is for things that The Board is to blame for!”
As Weiss was about to continue barraging her sister with scoldings she noticed that Ruby was beginning to tear up. “A-and, please tell me you’re alright Ruby…” Weiss worryingly asked, realising that she was being too harsh on her sister
“I-I’m alright Weiss, I-I just couldn’t let them rob the store like that.” Ruby tearfully replied, embracing her older sister in a hug
As the two continued hugging each other they suddenly heard the man on the other end of the room clear his throat, still sitting in his chair with a mug in hand. “It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Weiss, I hope you don’t mind me but there is something me and your sister have been meaning to discuss with you, If you would Miss Ruby?”
“Oh, ah, well um Professor Ozpin here has um, requested for me to attend Beacon and train to be a huntress” Ruby sheepishly responded, having been put on the spot by the man.
“What.” Weiss bluntly stated, her face going slack jawed as she tried to process what she had just heard.
“Yes, your sister here has proven herself to be quite the prodigy when it comes to fighting, and rather then letting such skill waste away in your manor, I believe it would be for the best to instead help nurture her skills and let her actualize her best possible self for the good of all humanity.” Ozpin responded, taking a sip out of his mug as he did so.
“W-what would Winter think?” Weiss asked, completely dumbstruck at what she was hearing from the man in front of her.
“Oh, We have already discussed this with her and she agreed with me, believing that it was a good idea, as it would help benefit both you and Ruby in the long and short term.” Ozpin replied, taking yet another sip out of his mug.
“R-Ruby, w-what do you think?” Weiss asked as she looked over at her sister, her mind struggling to comprehend everything happening in front of her
“Uhm, I’m not too sure about it myself, but if Winter wants me to and you want me to then I'll gladly join. It'll be fun, we can be huntress sisters, both fighting to protect people and restore the Schnee name’s honour.” Ruby responded, her voice growing more cheerful at the thought of attending Beacon with her sister.
“I suppose it would be fine, but just know that neither me nor Winter will judge you if you decide that being a huntress isn’t what you want to do.” Weiss remarked, a small tender smile growing on her face as she spoke to her sister.
“Thanks Weiss” Ruby cheered as she hugged her sister, Weiss meanwhile began to stroke her younger sister’s hair, her mind swirling with excitement at being able to attend Beacon with her younger sister but also worry for what awaited them there, and if Ruby was prepared to handle it.
