Lloyd sighed, hearing the muffled yells coming from the kitchen. Jay and Kai were at it again, blaming each other for Nya’s “death”, unreasonably arguing. He knew it was unwise to intervene, but it was early in the morning and he was sick of their relentless arguments. He got off his bed and slowly made his way to the kitchen.
“Guys, please, stop fighting. It’s literally 7Am. Besides, Nya wouldn’t want us to blame each other. There wasn’t anything we could have done to stop her,” He said warily.
Kai didn’t hesitate to round up on Lloyd, “You didn’t even try to get her to stop! You didn’t do anything at all! Aren’t you our leader Lloyd? All you did was watch… if I’d known you’d be such a useless green ninja, maybe I wouldn’t have saved you from from the volcano all those years ago!”
The blond stared blankly, mouth opening before snapping shut as tears filled his eyes. Even Jay looked worried, glancing between Kai and Lloyd.
“Wait-Lloyd I didn’t mean it…”
The green ninja backed away from him before turning around and running to his room, slamming the door behind him.

“Lloyd?” Kai knocks on the younger boy’s door.
“Leave me alone”
Kai rests his palms palms the door, “Look, bud, I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean it. I was mad…and I acted out. I-“
“I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!” Lloyd yells. Kai flinched at the loud thud against the door, metal clattering behind it. He sighed, waiting for a moment more before turning away.

“Lloyd? Where are you going?” Kai asks.
“Away.” The reply is short. It’s obvious he’s still upset.
“You aren’t leaving, are you? Ninja never qui-“
“DON’T! I’m done being a ninja. I won’t be responsible for anyone ever again. Besides, I’ve already gotten a job out in the city. I’m leaving, Kai, and there’s nothing you can do to stop me,” Lloyd heads out of the monastery towards the gates as Kai follow him, desperate.
“Lloyd, please. I’m really sorry for what I said, I was wrong, you aren’t useless. We’re family, we stick together…you can’t just leave, you’re our leader!” Kai said, short of begging.
“Don’t follow me.” Lloyd said sharply, pushing the gates open.
Kai stared blankly down at the long staircase.
Jay is next to leave, saying that he wanted to stay somewhere closer to his yang, and preferably far away from Kai. The fire ninja numbly watches again, not even bothering to stop him. He leaves soon enough too, ignoring the hurt look from Cole and Zane. Zane who had turned off his emotions, unable to cope with Nya’s absence. Kai envied him. Envied the ability to ignore everything that had happened, pretending everything was alright.

It didn’t matter anyway. Nya was gone and nothing was going to bring her back.
