It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Shiny lights, cold weather, hot cocoa and the sound of Christmas songs playing. Kenma should be happy that it’s almost a week before Christmas, but it’s not how Kenma’s vacation week was going. There was a last-minute surprise event overseas which Kodzuken (the professional gamer) and CEO (of BB Corp), Kenma Kozume needs to attend.

“I fucking hate this.” Kenma said with a groan when he saw the email from his phone

“I know love, but please mind your language.” Tetsurou smiled and looked at their adorable son, Gin Kozume.

“Papa said a bad word.” 

“Yes, papa did. I’m sorry. Don’t say that okay? Papa is just so stressed with work.” The 4 year old understood what it meant and went to his Papa to cuddle and scent him.

Kuroo Tetsurou, no. Kozume Tetsurou’s heart swelled with so much love looking at his husband and child. They are like two peas in a pod. Tetsu can imagine how sad Kenma is knowing that he needs to go overseas for work. It was their family tradition that they don’t do or even talk about work and school stuff during the week before Christmas. Kenma was even the one who made that rule since Tetsu couldn’t just leave his work even though he is on a winter break too.

Since it was urgent, Kenma had to leave tomorrow and stay 3 days in the Philippines. So basically Kenma was staying there from December 22 to 24. Tetsu could practically smell Kenma’s disappointment and stress. Good thing Gin was already asleep. The normal apple cinnamon scent was replaced with a slightly burnt smell. The alpha knew that nothing can ease his husband’s distress.

“Sweetheart, I got you my and Gin’s scarf, so you have a little something of us to help during your trip.” Tetsu made sure to put it in his husband’s hand carry.

“Tetsuuu, I don’t want to go, but I have toooo.” The omega rarely whines, if he does, it means that he really doesn’t want to do it.

“I know darling, but I also know that you can’t just abandon your work right? If I'm a workaholic, what does it make you? A super duper working machine?” The alpha chuckled and made sure that his mate didn’t forget anything. That night, the couple spent a little more time cuddling, making sure Kenma has his husband’s scent that can last for 3 days. (Spoiler: it didn’t)

“I’m gonna miss you both.” The omega kissed his son and husband before exiting the car. Kenma waved them goodbye as he saw his mate drive away. Boy, it's going to be a long business trip.

“Okay so we have 3 days together buddy. This is not Kenma’s first business trip abroad but he’s especially sad since it’s almost Christmans. So how about he make something special before he arrives?” 

“Yes!”

There’s not a lot of work to do when it comes to decorating the house since Tetsurou is one of those people who starts decorating the house immediately after halloween ends. But he recently saw an ad on Facebook that someone can make personalized Christmas balls and they accept rush orders. Tetsu wanted to tell Kenma but it just slipped from his mind, maybe this was the reason why.

Personalized Christmas balls? Check! Tetsu picked five designs for the balls, their marriage picture, newborn Gin, their first family photoshoot, a picture of their family with Apple (their cat) and Kenma’s championship picture with Tetsu and Gin.

What’s next? Gin suggested that they should buy pokemon themed santa socks. They already had theirs hanged but Gin saw it on a commercial and it’s just logical to buy some since Kenma and Gin love pokemon.

“How about we head to the store tomorrow to buy the santa socks and maybe buy some more stuff for Kenma?”

“Let’s buy ingredients for apple pie too! Papa loves your apple pie.”

“You are a genius! So today we clean the house, tomorrow go shopping and bake the next day before we pick up Kenma from the airport?”

“U-huh, and let’s not forget to buy some Christmas treats for Apple.” 

Meanwhile….

Kenma just landed from Narita to Manila and the change of climate overwhelmed him. It was already December but it’s 29 Celsius, it was snowing when he left Japan and now he had to remove all of his layers. It was hot outside but the atmosphere was festive. There were a lot of Christmas decorations, a huge christmas tree at the airport and another christmas tree at the hotel. The music was all christmas carols, employees with santa hats and there was also a santa meet and greet! Kenma snapped a picture and sent it to his husband.

Husband <3: Aww, hang on there world famous kodzuken!!! Go to sleep soon since your day starts early tomorrow!

:I know, I’m so tired. Will wash up and sleep. Miss you two.

Fast forward on December 24. Kenma already finished his guesting at the gaming convention and attended some meetings. He was already at the airport. It was packed. It was expected since tomorrow is Christmas day, but one of Kenma’s staff told him that in the Philippines, December 24 is as important as Christmas day because they celebrate Christmas eve until Christmas day. It was cool yeah, Kenma wore his headphones and tried to get a little nap since they arrived at the airport like 3 hours prior. Yes, it was necessary. Kenma woke up when he felt Haru (his secretary/ assistant) tapping him.

“Hmm?”

“I’m so sorry for this but our flight was delayed by an hour. It seems like there was a technical problem.”

“What?” No no no. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Kenma looked at his watch, it was already 4pm which means it was already 5pm in Japan. It was a 4 hour flight but so he’ll be home like 10pm or later. The omega only nodded and pulled his phone out to inform his husband that he’ll be late, no need for them to pick him up.

Tetsurou could feel his husband’s sadness from his text. He knows that Kenma was looking forward to their Christmas eve dinner since he already ordered their favorite sushi.

“Dad, apple pie is done! What time do we pick up papa?” The alpha smiled at his son.

“Papa will be late. He told us not to pick him up. But we’ll wait for him right?”

“Will he make it today?” Gin’s voice was sad, it honestly broke Tetsu’s heart but he knew that Kenma also wanted to go home as soon as possible.

“He would. If he doesn't then let’s welcome him with a warm hug, whatcha think?”

11:34pm. 26 minutes before Christmas. Kenma was fucking tired, sad and overwhelmed. The airport was crowded, they had a hard time getting a cab. It was cold, Kenma wanted to cry as soon as he stepped inside their house.

“Tadaima.” Kenma whisphered.

“Okaeri papa!” Gin was there to meet him and his husband also followed. He was finally home.

“Welcome home sweetheart.” Gin took his handbag while Tetsu took his luggage. Kenma just wanted to collapse on the spot. His anxiety, fatigue, relief, and all other feelings came down on him.

Kenma took a quick shower and smiled when he saw matching sweaters for them.

“I hope I'm not late for Christmas?”

“Just on time. Quick, let's eat and watch some Christmas movies!”

They ate their fancy sushi and some other food that Tetsu prepared. Of course they enjoyed their apple pie for dessert. After cleaning up, Tetsu played The Grinch, the three of them bundled up together on their couch. Halfway through the movie, Gin noticed that his papa was already asleep.

“Dad, papa is already sleeping.” Gin whispered to his dad. Tetsu gave him a fond smile and whispered back. “How about we continue this movie tomorrow? Santa will also be here anytime soon, so let's head to bed, okay?” Gin nodded and kissed his parents good night while the alpha carefully scoped up his mate to transfer him to their bed.

Gin woke up to the smell of pancakes and hot cocoa. And oh! It's Christmas day! The little one ran from his room and saw the three with more presents! It's from Santa!

“Papa and dad look, Santa gave us presents. Can I please open them now?”

“After you finish eating breakfast, okay?”

“Okay!”

Gin went ahead to eat his breakfast as the couple looked at him fondly. It was Christmas day, it's a happy occasion but Kenma couldn't help but to sigh.

“Is there any problem, darling?”

“Hmm just thought that it would be so much better if I spent Christmas Eve with you guys.”

“We have a lot of Christmas Eves to celebrate together. But for now, we celebrate Christmas! And I can't wait to see you and Gin open my gifts for you.”

“Why do you always say the words that I need to hear?”

“Well that's my job as your husband.”

“Whatever. Merry Christmas Tetsurou, I love you.”

“Merry Christmas too, my love.”
