Ha look at him! This one's exotic~
Wah... pretty.
It's too bad he's got a mouth on him, omegas like that are worthless. They need to know their place. Tsk.
If only it were older, I'd like myself a piece of that!
The man's friend slapped him on the back, in jovial teasing, "Aww you know laws don't actually apply to omegas, they only apply to humans like us, the government including their kind within our civilization is just for show, they're lucky to be allowed to share the same facilities as us at all."
The man laughed nervously scratching his neck, "I know, it's just they look so much like us it's easy to forget they're not people like us."
Laughter filled the streets, carefree and light like Zoro had never been. Never could be. Shoppers and common market goers filled the bustling market square. Zoro scowled at the crowds, pulling with little strength at his restraints. His wrists were bound to a pole above his head. His stomach growled and he tried to ignore the near-constant aroma of food to be found in the square.
Zoro was trying and failing to meditate, a ridiculous attempt to ignore the constant wandering hands of way-by shoppers, his tail wriggled anxiously though he tried to reign in his anxieties, it was weak and pathetic that it still bothered him. He was an omega, disgusting hybrid scum—a freak of nature, at least that's what everyone had told him.
He flinched, his body jostling as people pulled on his moss green tail, uncaring of how uncomfortable it was for Zoro or how sensitive his tail was, the feeling of hands at the base of his spine leaving his skin crawling. The 15-year-old fought not to hiss at a particularly harsh pull, biting into his lip hard enough to draw blood, the nerves at the base of his spine tingled white hot with pain.
The townspeople were jovial, and Zoro envied them, envied their freedom and station in life, he was ashamed of these feelings. His thoughts began to grow sad and disgusted toward himself as a certain raven-haired swordwoman began to occupy his thoughts.
She would never have let such weakness show. It was unconventional apparently for a woman to try and become the best, but she had never let that stop her. And Zoro strived to be every bit as stubborn and relentless as her, to not have weak thoughts, wanting to be someone else was nothing but Zoro running from his problems, he could only blame himself if he didn't achieve his goals. Being an omega was just an excuse, sex meant nothing because at the end of the day hard work led to achievement regardless of gender.
Zoro glared up at the sun.
They could laugh now, but someday he would be the best.
~~~
Zoro had never thought he would find himself tied up and without food, though not the first time, he had definitely not expected for it to happen again since leaving Shimotsuki village. The omega felt his tail squirm uncomfortably from within the confines of his haramaki, it was searingly hot out in the sun all day and near freezing at night.
Although Zoro was no stranger to the pangs of hunger that currently wracked his body this was definitely on the more extreme spectrum of any food withholding he had experienced in his life, but Zoro's will was strong and he'd be damned if this was what brought him down after all these years.
He had a promise to keep after all.
He decided to meditate to hopefully let the time pass a little quicker, it was just a few more days...
"Luffy! Wait!"
Zoro felt a twinge of annoyance at the loud voices, what kind of idiot would get so close to the marine headquarters anyway!? From what he could tell people here were terrified of the Marines. He huffed deciding to ignore them, his tail now restless against his ribs, tracing the slight indents of his ribcage, he was sure his ribs would start protruding given a few more days. The jittery restlessness of his tail left an unpleasant crawling sensation on his skin and Zoro fought not to shiver as he tried to focus his mind again.
He felt his brow twitch as the voices got nearer, until he could feel the very obvious staring of the two aforementioned idiots. He looked up to glare menacingly at them, though he mostly ended up having to squint against the harsh glare of the sun, the sweat beading at his temple the only relief he felt at his newfound exposure to the sun's rays.
If he had much self preservation it would probably worry him how much effort it took just lifting his head up. Instead he glared more cursing his own sign of weakness, he heard the pink-haired idiot gasp before ducking.
Hmm. An idiot and a wuss.
Zoro hated him already.
Curiously enough, the other idiot, some kid in a straw hat did not even flinch at the look Zoro had now fixed on him, in fact it seemed to make him happy, having such a fearsome glare directed at him.
Zoro growled, tail flicking in annoyance.
"Hey you guys. You're an eyesore. Get lost."
Zoro felt a sense of pride at how frazzled the pink kid got and felt curious at how unphased the other one was, that didn't last long as the kid from the bar climbed down into the marine base courtyard.
Shit.
Zoro tried fruitlessly to get the little girl to scram, he cursed his bad luck, this kid could get hurt just from hanging around Zoro, fuck how could he even call himself strong if he couldn't even save one little girl from some shitty marines.
"You know... it's not nice to be a bully, you seem a little too well... Roronoa Zoro."
Zoro gritted his teeth, looking up to glare hatefully at stupid hair. The blonde was smiling arrogantly down at him. He held back a growl as the blonde beta proceeded to snatch a rice ball and spit it out complaining.
"Baka they're full of sugar, rice balls are meant to have salt!" He slapped the onigiri out of the girl's hand, complaining and shouting like a petulant child.
Helmeppo stamped on the rice balls in disgust, that little girl was trying to poison him! He'd show her, little brats needed to know their place, didn't she know who his dad was!?
Zoro tensed as the girl was thrown over the fence, he turned his head to stare disgusted at stupid hair, he was pathetic and all talk, exactly the kind of person Zoro hated. Zoro resisted the urge to bear his teeth his canines would no doubt be showing with his agitation. If nothing else he could not let any of these bastards know his secondary gender.
His fists clenched with the effort it took to endure the blonde's taunting, rage boiled within him but he held back, they had a deal. And he would honor it.
He would survive until the end of the month.
That they could count on.
