Dear Diary: I Love Regina George

Summary:

Dear Diary,
I love Regina George. I love her body, her smile, her laugh, I love everything about her. She's perfect to me. I wish I we could date and be girlfriends, but she's not gay. She likes guys, and I guess I do too, but I can't resist Regina. Jeez, I understand now why Gretchen would do anything for her, it's hard to say no to her gorgeous face. Today, she took me to see a movie and we both reached for the drink at the same time!! My heart was beating so loud I'm surprised she didn't hear it, lol. But I don't think she noticed, nor did she care. I wish I could have her. I wish I could have Regina George.

Work Text:

It was rare for Cady to invite her friends over to her house. Her mom wasn't a big fan of massive guests so it took a lot of convincing for her to even consider having a sleepover. They finally reached an agreement: Cady could only invite three friends, they had to be out of the house by 7 am, and they could not be loud past 10 pm. A bunch of hugs later, Cady found herself sitting in her living room with Regina, Janis, and Damian on the floor with her. Being able to invite Damian was a struggle in itself and Cady nearly went to war trying to tell her mom that Damian wasn't even interested in her like that. Thankfully, she won and when she told Damian, received massive messages making fun of the situation.

“So where exactly is your mom?” Janis asked and Cady glanced at the stairs.

“Upstairs, she took a bunch of snacks and water in her room so she wouldn't disturb us,” Damian laughed as Cady grabbed the TV remote and turned it on. “Not funny,” She mumbled.

“But it is,” He said, half laughing while Cady selected Netflix on the TV.

“What do you guys want to watch?” Cady asked, glancing at the clock on the wall. It was about 8:20 pm so they had time for a movie.

“Let's watch You,” Janis suggested but Cady shook her head, raising her eyebrow.

“That's a little creepy Janis,”

“She meant the show, Cady,” Regina said, rolling her eyes. Cady deflated a bit, frowning as she watched Regina.

“There's a show called You?” Cady asked timidly. She didn't mean to offend Regina or make her annoyed.

“Yup, now put it on queen,” Damian held his hand out and Cady handed him the controller. While he selected the show, Cady directed her focus on Regina. She didn't look annoyed anymore, just bored.

“That's still creepy,” Cady muttered.

“The show is creepy,” Janis grinned while she nudged Cady's arm. “Joe is like super crazy,”

“Don't spoil it, what if she likes it?” Regina said, adjusting the rings on her fingers. Cady smiled slightly as Janis huffed.

“Well my bad,” Regina rolled her eyes.

“Look, Cady, the show can get gross and pretty sexual so just let me know if it gets too much and I can turn it off, ok?” Cady turned to the blonde, locking eyes as she nodded. Regina then smiled, her eyes flickering from Cady's eyes to her lips.

“Oh, so we're just not here anymore?” Damian whispered not quietly and Janis laughed as Regina shot him a glare. She muttered something Cady couldn't hear before turning away. Damn it, Damian, Cady liked looking at her.

“Just start the show,” Regina announced, to which Damian pressed play.

Regina was right, the show was very sexual and gross. They had gotten through two episodes before Cady got up to go fix them all something to munch on. After asking the crowd, she began making cinnamon rolls because Janis and Damian had a mutual sweet tooth. Regina had given them a nasty side eye when they said that.

“Oh, hey, Regi,” Cady greeted when she saw Regina join her in the kitchen. Regina was stretching her arms as she walked in, only stopping to wave at Cady.

“How's the show?”

“It's... a lot, but enjoyable,”

“Good. Now I don't want any more cinnamon rolls, got that? It's 10 pm, that's disgusting,”

“Got it, is there anything you would want?”

“I'll figure it out, I'm not all that hungry anyway,”

“Guys shut up, we're trying to watch!” Janis hissed from the couch. Regina groaned softly, throwing her head back.

“You shut up,”

“Yeah I love you too,” Cady turned to Regina after Janis said that, watching the blonde sigh.

“Cady, can I head upstairs and grab my meds?”

“Yeah sure, it should be in the bathroom,”

“Thanks,” Regina left Cady in the kitchen, flipping Janis off as she walked past the two. She made her way upstairs, her eyes focused on Cady until she couldn't see her anymore. The upstairs was quiet and very clean she must add. Regina, not wanting to snoop, looked for any open doors that might be the bathroom. She found it but beside it was a bedroom that she guessed was Cady's. Snooping isn't too bad, right? Regina looked around and once she realized nobody was there, entered Cady's room.

The room smelt like her and Regina could not stop taking it in. The covers were made, the dresser was clean, and clothes were put away. Cady was neat. Regina approached her nightstand, picking up a picture of little Cady riding that elephant. She smiled as she blew the dust off the frame. Little Cady looked so cute, an absolute sweetheart in Regina's eyes. When she sat on the bed, she hit something hard and stood back up.

“Shit,” Did she break something? She set the picture down and lifted the mattress, brows pinching when she saw a small book underneath. Was Cady embarrassed to read? She giggled, picking up the book and dropping the mattress. Then she realized it wasn't a book.

It was a diary, and it was unlocked.

Regina brushed her finger over the open lock before looking around. Cady didn't have to know, besides, what did she have to hide? So, she opened the book, flipping through the pages and stopping when she felt like it.

Dear Diary

Today, Karen accidentally squirted her water bottle at Regina during gym. It was kinda funny watching Regina get mad at her lol. But then she had to take her shirt off to change and omg she looked so hot.

Regina's eyes widened and she sat on the bed. This was about her?

I don't like to stare because my mom says I have staring issues sometimes but sometimes it's hard. I feel bad for Janis because I know she'd be mad at me if she knew about it. A part of her still doesn't like Regina but I kinda do.

Regina flipped past more pages until she reached an empty one. She picked the most recent entry and started to read. She couldn't even feel guilty about it, she was invested. What else did Cady think of her besides hot?

Dear Diary,

I love Regina George. I love her body, her smile, her laugh, I love everything about her. She's perfect to me. I wish I could date and be girlfriends, but she's not gay.

“Have me...?” Regina murmured, gently closing the book.

“Hello?” The sudden voice made Regina jump and snap her neck. She didn't recognize the woman in the door so she assumed it was Cady's mom. “What are you doing in here?” She asked.

“I went to look for the bathroom but got distracted and started looking at her elephant picture,” Regina lied, discreetly slipping the diary into a free slot on the nightstand shelf. Ms Heron tilted her head as Regina stood away from the bed.

“I'm sorry, what's your name again?” Ms Heron didn't sound mean, but rather curious, causing Regina to relax.

“Regina,” Ms Heron's eyebrows raised.

“Oh, you're Regina,” Has Cady talked about her?

“If you don't mind me asking, what does that mean?” Regina made sure to sound polite, not wanting to sass at Cady's mom. Then Cady would find out she was in her room and who knows where it would go from there.

“Cady talks about you a lot, she says you're her best friend,” Well her diary suggests otherwise. Regina thought as she nodded to acknowledge Ms Heron.

“I see,”

“Well, the bathrooms right there, for future notice,” Regina nodded, walking out of Cady's room and going next door.

“Thank you,” Regina didn't even realize she was blushing until she caught sight of herself in the mirror. Cady liked her. Regina smiled. “Cady likes me back,”

“Oh, sweet thanks, Caddy!” Janis eagerly grabbed the tray of cinnamon rolls, hurrying over to Damian who grabbed one from the tray.

“Thank you boo!” Cady smiled, walking back to the living room.

“You're welcome, but have you guys seen Regina yet?” Damian shook his head and Janis shrugged.

“I heard your mom talking, she probably got stopped,” Janis said before taking a bite. Cady nodded, glancing at the stairs.

“Ok, I'll go check,” Before she went upstairs, Cady grabbed a cup of water in case Regina forgot it. When she got upstairs, she knocked on the bathroom door. “Regina? You ok?”

“What? Uh, yeah, sorry,” The door opened and Cady took a step back. Regina had her two pills in her hand and an awkward smile on her face. “I forgot water,” Regina was then handed the cup and Cady stood outside while Regina took her pills.

“Good thing I had some right?” Regina nodded.

“Yeah,” She whispered before brushing past Cady to go downstairs. Cady turned the bathroom light off and started to follow.

“Cady,” Cady turned to her mother, smiling as she came back up the stairs.

“Yes, Mom?” Ms Heron glanced at Cady's room.

“Come here, I need to tell you something,”

“Were you pooping?” Janis asked as soon as Regina got off the stairs. Regina's eyes widened as she scowled.

“What the- ew! I never poop at other people's houses,” Janis shrugged.

“I do,”

“That's because no one has you over,” Damian reminded and Janis cracked a smile.

“True,” Regina scoffed, stepping over the two to sit back on the floor. She tried to watch the show but couldn't, a thought nagging in her head.

“Can I get your help on something?” She finally spoke and the two turned to her.

“Hit us,” He said. Dang it, Regina forgot they were a package deal. She looked at the stairs, sighing.

“Hypothetically, if I were to read someone's diary-”

“Seriously Gina?”

“One, it's hypothetical, shush, and two, don't call me that. Anyways if I were to find out someone likes me, how do I go about that?” Janis and Damian made eye contact and grinned.

“This dumbass,” Janis said to Damian but Regina heard and crossed her arms.

“Excuse me?”

“How are you just now realizing?” Janis’s comment made Regina grit her teeth.

“God you're no help,” Damian put his hand in front of Janis and moved closer to Regina.

“She means to say, is that we have known Cady liked you. She didn't need to tell us, it was obvious,” Regina shook her head.

“It was not,”

“She runs around like Gretchen for you,”

“She does not,” The two gave Regina a look and the blonde quickly took back her words. She did notice Cady acting more obedient towards her even when she didn't ask. But she thought it was because she felt bad about her back, not that Cady freaking liked her! “Look, she thinks I'm straight but I'm not-”

“Clearly,” Janis said through a fake cough. Regina chose not to respond.

“What do I do?”

“Is this hypothetical anymore?” Damian asked and both girls shook their heads.

“It never was,” Regina admitted.

“Knew it,” Again, Regina chose not to respond.

“Look, Gina, I'll help you out. You two will be linked up by the end of the night,” Janis held her hand out as if it were a deal but all Regina did was stare at it.

“You have 2 hours Janis,” She mumbled, looking at the stairs when she heard footsteps.

“2 hours too much, I only need minutes,” Janis winked at Regina as Cady came down the stairs. She waved at the three of them before sitting beside Regina.

“Do you guys want to finish this episode first and then turn off the lights?” Cady asked, yawning while the three replied with some variation of yes.

“So Cady,” Janis started, immediately grabbing the attention of Cady and Regina. “As your fellow gays, we want you to know that Aaron was a horrible choice for a boyfriend and that you could've done better,” Cady blinked, startled and confused as to why Janis suddenly started talking about Aaron. They haven't even brought him up at all so where was this coming from?

“Um... thanks? I mean he was Regina's ex too so technically you're disrespecting her taste too,” Regina took note of Cady considering her feelings too. She would've brushed it off as something a friend would do but after reading her diary that was out the window.

“Her taste in men is ass 'cause she doesn't actually care about them,” Ok, maybe Janis didn't need two hours, Regina would admit that. Janis was smooth about it too.

“But she does,” Cady faced Regina, her eyes full of wonder and sadness. She still somewhat thought Regina was straight and it caused Regina to look away. “Do you?”

“I don't, girls are prettier anyways,” Regina shrugged and turned to look at Cady whose eyes were wide.

“Would you date one?” Regina smirked.

“Duh,”

“Oh! Cool! That's cool, yeah,” Cady was tripping over her words, too excited to focus on being coherent. “Me too, I like pretty girls, too,” Cady was blushing and the more she stared at Regina, the more she felt her heart thump.

“Good thing Regina's a pretty girl,” Damian said, whistling as Janis laughed and nudged his arm. Regina felt her cheeks grow hot as she looked away from Cady.

“Shut up, Cady wouldn't date her,” Janis said mid-laugh and Regina's brows furrowed at her. She was making her sound undateable which was not true. She dated Aaron and survived whatever was going on with her and Shane.

“No, yeah, totally not, that would be weird,” Cady laughed along with her, turning away from Regina as her blush cleared up. Regina glanced at Janis who mouthed ‘Say something flirty’ in return.

“Too bad,” Cady's neck snapped at Regina causing the blonde to giggle. Cady looked adorable when she was hopeful.

“Too bad about what?”

“You wouldn't date me,” Regina smirked as Cady averted eye contact, too flustered to look Regina in her eyes.

“Well, I mean, I guess I would. But like who wouldn't, right?” Janis raised her hand and Damian turned his head so Regina wouldn't see him laughing.

“I wouldn't,” Janis announced.

“Alright now,”

“You'd date me, Cady?”

“It's getting late, we should head to bed or something,” Cady scrambled to her feet, turning the TV and surrounding lights off. “Who wants the couch?”

“Me! Your mother would kill me if I didn't,” Damian joked but Cady was too anxious to laugh with him.

“Regina? Couch?” Cady offered while hurrying to hit the kitchen light switch.

“Can I get the bed?” Janis asked, being met with a jab to her side. She glared at the culprit and was met with Regina's glare.

“But Janis, what about my back?” Regina said through gritted teeth, flashing Janis a knowing look. Janis immediately groaned.

“I'll take the couch, Regina's more important,” Regina chuckled, holding her phone up.

“Repeat that into the mic,”

“Shut up,”

“Great, that's great, I'll be upstairs. My door will be open Regina,” Cady nearly tripped over a cord on the ground and laughed it off. Now sweating at this point, she rushed out a good night before running up the stairs. Once Cady was gone, Janis hit Regina's arm.

“If you two aren't dating after this, I will hit you with my car,” Regina mocked her while she stood. Honestly, if they didn't get together after this, Regina just might let her.

“Good night,” Regina went up the stairs, carefully stepping over a pair of slippers. She reached the top and headed straight to Cady's room. To her surprise, Cady wasn't there but that didn't stop Regina from closing the door and reaching for her bag. She grabbed her nightwear which consisted of a t-shirt and shorts. While she changed, she wondered why Cady was so scared.

Was she scared to like girls? Regina understood that feeling so she was not one to judge but Cady was out. People knew she liked girls and guys so what could be the issue? Was she scared to like Regina? Granted, Regina wasn't the most friendly girl at Northshore but she's gotten friendlier since she almost died. Maybe she was scared that Regina would ruin her life. No, she lost her power and she was out too so that wouldn't work either. Regina constantly ran questions in her head while holding her shirt in her hands. She was too lost in thought to hear the door open.

“Oh my god, I'm so sorry!” Regina turned, face relaxed as she saw Cady in the doorframe. Her hand gripped the door handle so tightly that Regina could see her hand shaking.

“Relax, it's nothing you haven't seen,” Cady hesitated. Eventually, she walked in but her head stayed lowered as she closed the door behind her. “Jeez, does the extra pounds really make me look bad?” Cady's head shot up and she shook it repeatedly.

“What?! No! I-”

“I'm messing with you, you're so gullible,” Regina walked up to Cady, purposefully not putting her shirt on. Cady's eyes darted at her chest before gazing at Regina's face. “Why are you so scared?”

“My mom said you were in my room. I know you were just looking at pictures but... but my diary was moved,” Shit. Regina could feel her smirk fading. “I don't want to assume anything but-”

“I read it. Only two entries so that's like not bad at all,”

“Which ones?”

“The time Karen spilled her water on me during gym, and the most recent one,”

“So you know?” Regina nodded. “Do you think I'm weird? Are you going to start telling people?”

“No, and no ‘cause how could you not have a crush on me,” The joke brought a small smile to Cady's face. “Cady I was literally flirting with you downstairs,”

“I thought Janis told you to, so I didn't believe it,” Regina crossed her arms, leaning on one leg.

“Why would Janis tell me?” Cady took a moment to reply, her eyes locked on Regina's chest which was made more noticeable by her crossed arms. “Eyes up, Heron,” Regina chuckled watching Cady force herself to peel her eyes away.

“Sorry, but I told Janis about you a few weeks ago and she told me she was going to help me date you,” Of course, Janis said that, Janis was everybody's wing woman.

“So you thought I was playing with your feelings?”

“...Kinda,”

“Damn,” Cady opened her mouth to protest but Regina held her hand up. “Don't apologize. I don't blame you for thinking that even though I don't do it anymore,” Cady nodded, shuffling while she waited for Regina to continue. “But, I've been hoping you'd eventually like me back since you moved here, so,” Regina shrugged, trying to sound nonchalant despite her heart beating out of her chest. She wasn't the only one scared out of her mind.

“Oh,” Cady couldn't say anything else, shock driving her emotions. Regina's liked her for that long and she never noticed?

“Is that a good or bad oh?” Regina whispered.

“Good, it's good,” Cady sighed. She looked Regina up and down before pointing at her shirt. “Are you gonna put it on?”

“I'm surprised you want me to,” Regina winked as she slid her shirt over her head. She adjusted it before lying on Cady's bed. “This is surprisingly comfy,”

“So are we dating now or am I supposed to ask you?” Regina laughed, soft and humored. Cady was too awkward for her good. “Is that a no?”

“It'd be dumb to ask if you'd want to be girlfriends so I'd say yes we're dating,” Cady nodded, patting her hands on her sweatpants. She stood idly as Regina stretched her body out on the bed.

“Cool cool... yup,” It fell silent, Cady eyeing the spot beside Regina eagerly. If she was being honest, she wanted to cuddle up beside her girlfriend. The word made her heart throb, she finally had Regina.

“I can see you staring, come lay down,” Cady instantly accepted the invite and lay next to Regina. Regina adjusted her position so Cady could wrap her arms around her and lean her head on Regina's chest. The silence was comfortable enough for Regina to pass out five minutes later. Cady reached over and turned off the small lamp on her nightstand. She returned to her previous position, a toothy grin on her face. She could already picture her next diary entry.
