Work Text:
The music blasted through the speakers, making the walls vibrate lightly, this was complemented by the vibrant lights that changed it’s color every time it pointed somewhere else, making the atmosphere agitated and exiting, Poob was hosting a party to try out their new house, since well, they moved out of the last one and it was kinda blown up, so it was important to test if this one could handle their level of partying, almost everyone was there, Pest, Gregoriah, Kasper, Wallter, Pilby, even Sab was there!, even though he spent his time making snarky comments of all the aspects of the party, ignoring that the party was going amazing, the majority guests were under the disco ball, some like Spud or Gnarpy just chatting in the crowd, others like Mark or Flesh cousin were dancing and enjoying the party the best they could, everyone was having a great time
Except for one person, Bive, who was sitting in a corner, watching everything from a distance. Fools, how can they not realize the immense danger they expose themselves to? Bive would start to scratch her head a bit to try to ease off her nerves via a small distraction, but she couldn’t help but stare at everything that was happening while trembling a bit, all the worst possibilities and outcomes fogging her mind. What if the music had a secret code that would brainwash everyone into building a new religion based on crabs? What if the lights were deadly and turned everyone blind so the cane industry could have more power? What if the mirrors carefully placed to reflect the lighting were cameras made by the little men to use the recordings as blackmail and do an uprising? What if this party was actually an undercover recruiting system for the clown government to keep more people under their control? , with each new theory and the probable outcomes Bive’s anxiety grew bigger and bigger, making her think that this party was life threatening and that she was the only one sane enough to see the truth and to warn everyone about her realizations, but like always the majority of people would brush it off or let her knowledge fall into deaf ears, they never listened and distanced themselves from her because they are too ignorant or blinded by something to face the real reality, not this time, this time she will actually do something to prevent a catastrophe, but before she could do anything a hand grabbed her shoulder out of the blue, a loud yelp would escape from her mouth as she squirmed a bit, thinking a secret agent with telepathy read her mind and was about to do something to stop her plans, she was freaking out until a familiar voice tried to calm her down
“Sheesh chill!, I just came up to check on ya! You seemed a bit zoned out, and you were literally shaking, so I couldn’t help but worry.”
Said Split in the most gentle tone she could do, knowing the other’s nature, Bive would just stay frozen in place as her muscles slowly relaxed as the realization sank in. It was just Split, probably the only person she can put a little trust in in this place, or at least she thought so since she actually took time to listen to her theories and discoveries and attempted to understand the truth, which was very appreciated, so taking advantage of her presence, Bive tried to put Split on her side.
“SPLIT, finally someone I can talk sense to! Don't you see all the potential life hazards around here?!”
“What? The only life hazard I see is someone having way too much fun!”
Bive would just stare at her blankly for a few moments before gasping loudly.
“I HAVEN’T REALIZED THAT THIS COULD BE A PLOY FOR THE PSYCOLOGY INDUSTRY TO INFLUENCE PEOPLE INTO BEING SAD, SO THEY GO INTO THOSE BRAINWASHING THERAPY SESSIONS, SEE?, YOU ALSO MAKE ME REALIZE THINGS!, WE COMPLEMENT EACHOTHER!!”
Bive didn’t mean to let that last part slide off, but it was already done and all she could do now was to shut up in embarrassment. But Split didn’t look at her serenely like always; instead her face was painted with worry.
"What? No, Bive that wasn’t what I meant.”
“HUH-, then what in the world did you meant??, a secret code?”
The fruit-taur would lightly snort and just look at the contrary softly; sometimes she was just too amusing.
“I was just trying to make a little pun because, uh…there isn’t actually any danger, y’know?”
Bive would just gasp loudly as she put a hand over her chest in an offended manner.
“WHAT?! , HOW can you say that?? "Split, you have to trust me; this isn’t a safe place!”
“Why?, This is a party; it was made specifically to relax and have fun.”
“fun? RELAX?! I am NOT putting my guard down, especially in this place where we are vulnerable to exterior attacks.”
Split would just sigh in defeat, it was hard to get Bive to actually enjoy things without the paranoia getting the best of her, making her think all kind of things, the majority being unintelligible for her because she can’t keep track of the thread the hairy girl created rapidly, but this time she wouldn’t give up that easily, she will actually get Bive to enjoy this one thing, one way or another, she started thinking in silence and after a bit she came up with an idea, it was a bit risky considering the erratic reactions of the contrary, but it was worth a shot, Split would gently hold Bive’s hand which kinda flinched at the sudden contact, Bive would glance at the hands touching each other before looking back at Split with a bit of anxiousness due to her unusual silence, but she was greeted with a gentle smile
“Say, why don’t you enlighten me with all the dangers back there on the sofa?”
The fruit-taur said as she pointed at the cozy furniture that was closer to the party and crowd, Bive would tense a bit again.
“ARE YOU CRAZY? I did an analysis on this place and I concluded that this is the safest place here!"
“But so far you are the only one who knows about these dangers, and you know I was hanging out there, so if you show me better or describe these dangers I will keep myself safe, and you would be protecting me! "Please, can you accompany me back there?”
Bive would hesitate for some moments; she did want to protect Split from exposing herself to anything, but this meant exposing herself too momentarily to help out Split, but like the other said, she knew better of the dangers than anyone, and like she said, when inspecting this place she stumbled upon multiple perfect hiding spots, so if anything happened she could drag Split alongside her to a safe place, so seeing the 90% successful pros, she decided to take the big risk.
“Fine, BUT keep in mind that once I’m done, I’m returning to my safe spot; you can never be too sure about the percentages.”
“Sounds perfect to me.”
And with that, Split helped Bive get up and started to gently guide her towards the more populated zone. Normally, the hairy girl would be a nerve wreck upon so many people, but, for some reason, Spit’s presence soothed her in some way she couldn’t quite put her finger on, and even more weirder, she didn’t have that craving to dig up all the information; instead she wanted to sink in a bit more into that warmth that Split emanated, and before she could notice they were already sitting on the couch, the fruit-taurs voice snapping the hairy girl out of her thoughts.
“So?, what kind of conspiracies will you share with me today?”
Bive was a bit startled at how quick this was happening, but honestly, she shouldn’t be surprised; the trip between the corner of the house and the furniture wasn’t THAT far as Bive wished to, but she will complain about that later. Re-adjusting her glasses she prepared herself for a rant.
“Ok, so my main worry is the food. With how everyone is making these erratic movements, they will eventually get tired and go eat. Simple right? WRONG, because it turns out making everyone tired was a ploy for the food industry to make people try their more chemically altered food to make it more addicting. This is matched up with the brainwashing music that, besides the possibility of making a new religion, alters the body chemistry to make everything with more energy. SO THE FOOD INDUSTRY IS WORKING WITH THE MUSIC INDUSTRY TO MAKE BOTH OF THEM BENEFITIED, but that doesn’t end there, no, THERE´S MORE!-“
And Bive went on her rant about all the thoughts that were overwhelming her head all night. Split just smiled softly as she silently heard the contrary´s voice. There was just something in how Bive explained her own world—the passion, the excitement she transmitted while she smiled as she slowly made the dots connect with each other—it was just endearing; that’s the only way Split could describe it, and the best part is that Bive seemed to enjoy herself while talking about her theories; she liked being heard, and Split was giving her that alongside engaging with the conversation, making small questions like ‘Really?, how is that possible?’ or ‘And what would happen if that occurs?’ and ‘Can you explain me that relation a bit further, please?’, that sure fueled Bive's motivation to keep ranting.
Bive would be mid explanation about how ice cream is deploying small spies of the snow army into our nervous system before she felt a light motion, Split started to slowly caress her hand making a soft motion with her thump, Bive would briefly stutter before trying to go back to explaining her theories, she forgot for a moment that ever since she stood up from the corner Split haven’t let go of her hand, she tried to ignore that and just look a Split so she could explain better if she saw a confusion cue on the other’s expression, but instead of that she found a relaxed smile on the fruit-taurs face as she looked at her in awe, a small spark on her eyes and god the hairy girl just noticed that the contrary was slightly leaned towards her too, Bive would slowly feel her face burning slightly upon having the other so close, upon seeing the other traits better, and it did not help at all that her face was so smooth, that her droopy eyes gave her and adorable gaze, that her smile was so charming, hor her antennas decorated her cutely, Bive had to force herself to look away to prevent herself from staring too much, but she didn’t noticed that she stopped talking, making Split look at her again with worry
“Is everything alright, Bivey?”
There it is, that little nickname that only made Bive more flustered. She forgot the moment when the other started using it, but each time she used it she felt some goosebumps in her stomach.
“Yeah… Yeah, everything's alright. It's just... that... you’re a bit... too close..."
She said her voice getting quieter and quieter, but Split heard everything, and she looked back in a bit of regret.
“Oh, I’m so sorry I made you uncomfortable Bive, I-, here, I can back up and give you some space and-“
“NO!!”
Bive interrupted with a yell, startling Split and making her slightly jump on her spot. Regret and awkwardness started to invade the atmosphere, so Bive quickly talked again.
“I…didn’t meant to push you away; I..like your company…(among other things..)”
Split’s gaze would once again light up with a bit of hope as a smile slowly crawled on her face.
“You really like my company?”
Split could barely contain her excitement as Bive could only nod, still not daring to make eye contact, but Split knew what truth to say to fix that.
“I enjoy your company too Bivey, I also like your theories.”
Bive would immediately perk up and directly stare into the contrary’s eyes as a nervous and excited smile started to form on her.
“You like them?”
“Yeah! How couldn’t I? The way you come up to them, the way you can explain them so in detail, the emotion and care you put in each and every one of them, it amazes me, truly.”
Bive felt like her face could melt off at any given moment at how hot it was getting. She never felt so complimented before, and she knew she meant it due to her actions in the past and how interested she seemed in her ever since they met. Bive’s gaze would slowly go down until it landed on Split’s hand. She would look at it for some moments before slowly guiding her own hand to hold the contrary’s free hand. Split’s hand felt soft and squishy, and it was kinda addicting to keep holding them.
Split would just slightly chuckle at how fixated Bive looked upon holding hands, even though it may seem simple to anyone else with her this felt somewhat intimate, that the hairy girl was slightly opening up to her, unlike everyone else where she would normally avoid too much contact and generally be loud and explosive about her thoughts, trying to not drift off too much she would also focus on the hand holding, Bive’s hand was a bit dry due to the mistreated hair, but she could tell she bathed recently, knowing she only cleans herself from time to time, still, it wasn’t displeasing to touch, in fact, she liked the contrast they both did with their different type of skin, like Bive said before, she felt like they complemented each other, thinking she is reading the situation right she would place one of Bive’s hand on her left hand so she could gently put her right hand on Bive’s cheek and carefully make her look at her, and even thought it wasn’t that visible she knew that the contrary was probably blushing, so without missing a beat she shot her shot, silently hoping the timing was right
“And I, uh, besides liking your company and your theories, I... like you; I like everything about you; I like your little laugh; I like your big smile; I like the motivation you have; I like how persistent you are with your objectives; you just never seem bummed out by what others say; it’s truly impressive to me; and uh, I would like to spend even more time with you, to hear more of what you have to say; I want to be with you, Bivey.”
Split from time to time, stumbled over her own words. Sure, she’s been wanting to say that for a while, but she had no idea what to actually say, so she kinda improvised on how to express her feelings and just silently pray and hope that she said the right thing as the nervousness started to take over her.
Meanwhile Bive was a silent mess, she didn’t expected such confession, she didn’t expect some simple explaining of the dangers of this party descend into something like this, and just now she realized that she forgot that she was at a party long ago, she forgot that there were other people on that place, because all that she focused on was Split, the only person she was noticing was Split, and with that love bomb she just threw it made her focus on the fruit-taur even more, and the worst part is that she didn’t knew what to do, her heart was pounding so hard against her chest that she felt it was about to jump out of there and she felt that her face was literally on fire, sure this developed a tad bit too fast for her liking but this wasn’t totally inedible, she just, didn’t knew how to exactly respond at that moment, neither her body nor mind was attributing or helping in anything so she just remained in silence as her body stiffened
Worry would start to make Split’s blood run cold as she saw no reaction from the other, for a moment she thought that maybe she was missed something or that she came too strong towards Bive so with no response she started to slowly remove her hand from Bive’s face but the other reaction was just to tense even more and rapidly lean more into the fruit-taur’s hand as one of Bive’s hand quickly grab Split’s hand to keep it in place, this small gesture got a little chuckle out of Split as she repeated the same action with the other hand, making Bive to keep both of her hands on each cheek as she just nervously smiled, still not making much action, so taking the initiative Split slowly started to get closer and closer to the contrary, slowly but steadily closing the distance between them, each moment more and more butterflies would be clogging Bive’s stomach until Split suddenly stopped all movement, she was inches away from the other’s face as they just looked at each other’s eyes, Split would open her mouth but nothing came out, like if the words got caught up in her throat, she closed her mouth in hesitation for some moments before finally speaking softly
“Can I…?”
The wait was killing Bive and she just did a quick nod as she watched the contrary expectantly, Split returned the gaze in awe as she finally cut the distance between them, joining their lips in a tender and caring kiss, Bive’s body didn’t relaxed one bit more as this was the first time she’s done this with someone else, so the best she could do was to try and mimic the fruit-taurs actions, starting first by closing her eyes alongside the contrary, for a moment she didn’t fully understood why but the more she spent in the kiss the more she was slowly melting into it, just like her hands her lips were soft and puffy, it was pleasant at the touch and the way their lips went from touching to grasping to each other made Bive yearn for more, her hands slowly and hesitantly traveled towards Split’s neck trying to pull her closer, to get more of the feeling, she felt Split smiling in the middle of the kiss as she put a bit more force into the kiss, trying to taste all she could, embracing each other’s warmth, for the first time Bive wasn’t thinking about the dangers or the chances of anything happening, all that was on her mind was Split and this tender moment they are sharing, letting her mind only concentrate on the other and nothing more.
