Work Text:

Valentine's Day had always been a special occasion for Bette and Tina, filled with memories of passion, love, and the journey they had shared. This year was no different as they planned to celebrate their enduring bond in a cozy cabin tucked away in the mountains. They felt after spending the last few Valentine's apart and the last few years of their marriage in turmoil they wanted to make this year special. The first one back together. The first one to kick off their new life together.

The cabin was secluded enough that they had privacy in the woods but not secluded enough that they couldn't make it to town by foot weather permitting or a quick few minute drive by car. They had arrived the night before after stopping for dinner at a roadside diner. They were so tired they went right to bed after settling in.

As the morning sun peeked through the curtains, Bette stirred awake, her heart already filled with anticipation for the day ahead. She glanced lovingly at Tina, who lay beside her, her peaceful expression illuminated by the soft light filtering into the room.

"Babe, wake up," Bette whispered, brushing a gentle kiss against Tina's forehead.
Tina slowly opened her eyes, greeted by Bette's adoring gaze. A smile bloomed on her lips as she stretched lazily, savoring the warmth of their embrace.

"Happy Valentine's Day, my love," Tina murmured, her voice filled with affection.
Bette returned her smile, caressing Tina's cheek tenderly. "Happy Valentine's Day, baby."
They continued to lay in bed holding each other under the warm glow of the sun. Bette’s fingers gently grazing Tina’s soft skin.

“You smell so good,” Tina breathed in Bette and nuzzled her face closer to Bette’s chest. “I missed it so much,” Tina continued. “Sometimes I’d smell you at a store or on the street and I do a double take but you were never there.” Bette caressed Tina’s head and placed a kiss on her forehead, “Well I'm here now.” Tina stirred and rolled herself over Bette. “You most definitely are now”

After a slow morning and leisurely breakfast, Bette surprised Tina with a handwritten love letter, expressing her deepest feelings and gratitude to her lover. Tina's eyes shimmered with tears as she read each heartfelt word, overwhelmed by the depth of Bette's love.

“I didn’t think you could write anything more loving than your vows and yet here you are out doing yourself once again.” Tina held the letter close to her heart. “There aren’t enough words or days in our lifetime for me to express how much I love you,” Bette circled the wooden table toward Tina. The brunette placed her hand on the blonde's chin tracing Tina’s lips with her thumb. Tina opened her mouth and swirled her tongue around the thumb. Bette put pressure on Tina’s chin directing her to stand up. Tina rose from the chair and Bette appreciated their height difference. She placed her left hand on the back of Tina’s head and pulled her in for a long and passionate kiss. Tina returned the gesture, their bodies melting together in a symphony of desire and devotion.
After cleaning up and getting dressed Bette and Tina made their way into town. It was a small little village. Something you would find in a Hallmark movie. There was a cozy diner on the corner, a bakery across the street, and little shops lining the mainstreet. The two women walked hand in hand looking into all the windows of the shops appreciating the small town atmosphere.

They came across a jewelry store on their walk that advertised forever bracelets. Tina noticed the sign first while Bette was distracted looking across the street.

“Babe, should we?” Tina said not noticing Bette wasn't paying attention and tapped her on the shoulder. “What should we do?” Bette turned around to face her wife. “Look,” Tina pointed to the sign. “We should get these forever bracelets.” Tina smiled at Bette like an excited little kid. “I can get you something nicer than a simple chain on your wrist, T” Bette explained.

Tina grabbed on to Bette’s arm and snuggled in closer to her, “I know you would get me anything I wanted in this store, but this is what I want,” Tina pulled away a little. “Just like in your card to me this morning, Even when things seem hard we can always go back to the basics of why I’d love you forever,” Bette smiled at Tina for quoting her words back to her. “The simple timeless chain is a reminder that when everything seems overwhelming and too much we can always go back to the basics.”

Bette grabbed Tina’s hand and kissed the back of it. “I love you, let's do it!”

After getting their bracelets and heading back to the cabin the rest of their day was filled with laughter, intimate conversations, and stolen kisses by the fireplace. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape, Bette and Tina found themselves wrapped in each other's arms, lost in the magic of the moment.

“Dinner was amazing babe.” Tina sipped her wine. “I’m so glad you liked it. At first I thought heart shaped lobster ravioli would be a cliche but I don’t think we’re above cliches anymore,” Bette took a sip of her wine. Tina’s hands found their way to Bette’s head, playing with the beautiful and full curls both women became entranced by the fire burning in front of them.

“I’m so happy,” Bette let out, snapping both women back to reality. “This is exactly how I imagined my life would be at this age. Nestled by a fire in a beautiful cabin with the love of my life” Bette relaxed fully into Tina.

Tina was so content the way she was she almost forgot to give Bette her present. “Hold on babe,” Tina said, disrupting the quiet moment they were sharing to get up and grab the gift for Bette. Bette nearly fell back onto the couch almost spilling her wine. “One second.” Tina yelled from the other room.

“You didn't have to get me anything,” Bette said as Tina re entered the room.

“Don’t be silly Bette. It's not much,” Tina sat kneeling on the couch with Bette turned facing her. Bette started to open the gift. “And the card isn't anything special either..” Tina trailed off as Bette open ripped the wrapping and opened her present.

“T, this isn't the type of gift you say it’s not much..It’s plane tickets to Paris!”

“Well.. It’s not like we haven't been before. I just thought it’s Valentine's Day, Paris is the city of love. What better trip to spring for you than that! I have it mostly all planned out too. Are you mad? You seem mad.. I’m sure I could..” Bette cut her off.

“T, T, T, stop stop,” Bette grabbed Tina’s hand. “I love it, it's so thoughtful. It’s a big gift but I do love it so much!” Bette reassured Tina and pulled her into her swapping their positions from just moments before.

"I love you, Bette Porter," Tina whispered, her voice a soft melody in the stillness of the night.
"And I love you, Tina Kennard," Bette replied, her heart overflowing with love.

“This has been the best Valentine’s Day” Bette purred into Tina’s ear.

“I don't think it’s over yet.” Tina turned and put her finger on Bette’s chest.

“Are you asking me to take you to the bedroom?” Bette said with a smug face.

“I am absolutely telling you to take me to the bedroom.” Tina laughed.

“I love when you get bratty.” Bette stood up and scooped Tina off the couch and carried her to the bedroom.

The end :)
