quiet, heavy dreams

Summary:

you and leon had put lots of love, money, and elbow grease into the home you had bought, and by god, it was home.

home was so foreign to leon. you felt it every time you found him standing at a random spot, and he had that look on his face. the look.

Chapter 1: heading south

Chapter Text

it’s a cold and dreary morning, you could see that much from your bed. the edges of the window were icy, and you certainly felt it right on the tip of your nose. you snuggled your head further into your pillow, knowing it would be hell trying to get up and going for the day.

you sighed, pushing the covers off of yourself. it was so, so cold. as you moved to get off the bed, a hand grabbed your arm, right as your feet touched the floor.

“stay in bed,” your boyfriend’s tired, hoarse voice ordered from behind you. it was coated with sleep, making your chest flutter. you had always loved hearing him after he’d just slept.

“i can’t, i’ve got to feed the dogs, and water the plants, and—”

“it can all wait, baby,” leon breathed out, using his considerable strength to pull you back towards him, pulling the blanket on top of you. he wrapped his strong arms around you, nuzzling his face into the curve of your neck.

“leon—”

“it’s snowing, it’s cold, we haven’t got anywhere to be today,” he whispered in your ear. “just stay here . . . for at least a little while.”

you sighed again, and as much as you wanted to object, you seemed to be sinking straight into the mattress.

“okay,” you finally agreed.

no internet. no cable. that was how your life had been since you and leon had packed up and moved straight to appalachia. tennessee, to be exact. it was only sort-of a spur of the moment decision. the two of you had wanted to get away for a long time. you shared this feeling with each other. then, you did exactly what you both wanted.

now you spend your dawns in a house that was built for harsh winters and exhausting summers. you had two large dogs. a rooster wandered up out of nowhere and now screamed outside every morning. you and leon had put lots of love, money, and elbow grease into the home you had bought, and by god, it was home.

home was so foreign to leon. you felt it every time you found him standing at a random spot, and he had that look on his face. the look.

you love that look.

you stir in leon’s grasp again as you hear the slide of your dog’s nails against the hardwood floor outside your bedroom.

leon groans, pulling you tighter to his chest.

“leon, i have to feed them, they’re hungry.”

“and i’m warm.”

“you’ll still be warm when i’m gone.”

“never warm when you’re gone.”

you sigh, pushing out of his arms, and he finally lets you go. god, it is so cold in this damn house, you think to yourself as you pull a large pair of sweatpants and a random wool jacket over your pajamas. you leave the bedroom and shut the door when you do, being greeted happily by your dogs.

you had one great pyrenees, and one black labrador. goose and maverick, of course. they were polar opposites, but amazing together. you couldn’t have asked for better dogs. from the moment you and leon had rescued them, they had been perfect complements to your new life.

“good morning,” you greeted the dogs, shuffling into the kitchen in search of their food. you thanked god that you had the comfiest pair of tasman uggs, because you could only imagine how cold the tile of the kitchen would be against your bare feet.

the dogs’ food was housed in its very own cupboard, and whatever was refrigerated had its own spot in the fridge. you and leon loved to spoil your pets, so they usually ate a very high quality kibble rehydrated with bone broth. on certain days, you did like to feed them some kind of raw meat, but only the kind specially made and packaged for dogs. you remembered when you first rescued your pups, you were so anxious about choosing the right food.

you looked down at goose and maverick, who were wagging their tails and staring up at you with the biggest begging eyes you’d ever seen. you thought you made the right choice in food.

thank god for open farm.

with the dogs fed, you slipped right back into your room, shutting the door behind you and peeling off the warm layers you had just put on.

leon was right where you left him. he looked so peaceful, you honestly couldn’t tell if he was asleep or not.

your chest fluttered. seeing your beautiful boyfriend so peaceful never failed to make your heart grow heavy. if anyone on this earth had earned peace, it was him. no one had fought so hard for it.

leon had decided after one long, hard work trip, he was done. you never knew what he did. you knew it was government work, and that it was serious. you never prodded. as long as he came home, you were happy. well, one day, he came home, and never left again. that was when you moved to tennessee, and you used a sizeable chunk of saved money to buy a house and renovate. the renovations weren’t done, but you and leon both needed to find some source of income to keep going. it wasn’t like you were poor, but . . . it was sad to sit in the house all day.

leon had wanted you to stay home, not have to work. he had considered going back to the police force, considering an occupation as a sheriff’s deputy. if not, he was highly interested in being a fish and wildlife officer, maybe a game warden. and if not that, a forestry agent.

you were glad he was exploring his options.

your pondering brings you back to a worrying memory. a few weeks ago, maybe two, maybe three, you had overheard leon on the phone with someone you didn’t know.

“i told you, i’m not going back,” he said, almost snapping at the person on the other end. “i’ve moved on, i’ve left that shit behind. . . . stop calling me. i’m not coming back.”

you remember how you tensed up, how your heart seemed to sink as you overheard those words. when he was in action, him going away never really bothered you. it was always chalked up to work, in your mind. but after the two of you had lived without that fear for even just a few months. you realized how much you loved this life. you never had to worry about him leaving you for longer than a few hours. the thought of him going away again was . . . terrifying.

“are you okay, baby?” leon’s muffled voice sounded from under the covers. you didn’t realize you had been standing there idly for so long.

“yes, baby,” you answered, shaking your head as you crawled into bed with him.

“something on your mind?”

“no, no, just got lost in thought.”

“okay.”

you both had never questioned the other when it came to things like this. you knew where your communal business ended, and where your personal ones began.

“i love you,” you muttered, turning to face him. his face was half buried under the covers, and you couldn’t help but giggle. he looked like a child.

“don’t laugh, i’m freezing,” he said, muffled again by the blankets. “i know you’re freezing too. your hands are always cold. get ‘em in here.”

leon moved to grab your hands, pulling them under his shirt. he hissed when the cold touched his skin.

“why do you insist on doing this?”

“it’s the fastest way to warm them up.”

“you just want me to feel your abs.”

“no.”

you grinned as leon wrapped his arms around you, trapping your hands beneath his shirt.

“what are your plans for today?” you asked him.

he hummed. “i don’t even wanna think about anything other than right now.”

“what are your plans for right now?”

“i can think of a few things i wanna do.”

“like?”

“you.”

you couldn’t suppress your giddy smile. “you’re horny.

“duh,” he says, and he silences you with a kiss. it’s not a harsh one, but not a soft one. leon doesn’t necessarily understand soft.

the only thing that came close to the feeling of being wrapped in the arms of the man you love, was seeing beams of sunlight streaming through the windows, cascading down and warming everything it touched. you loved that. especially on a chilly, sunny day.

it wasn’t that kind of day in that moment, but leon’s hands on your body made it feel that way.

“you’re so beautiful,” leon muttered in your ear as he discarded your clothes. they were unceremoniously thrown off the bed and into the floor. you’d pick up those crumpled piles later.

“you should see yourself,” you muttered back as your boyfriend kissed down your neck, then to your chest.

the feeling of leon’s hot mouth encasing your nipple was nothing short of divine. it could unwind any amount of stress. he treated both of your tits the same, licking and sucking lavishly before his mouth trailed even farther down. his kisses on your stomach made your muscles seize, almost tickling. then he found the mound just before the bundle of nerves at the apex of your thighs.

you loved when leon took his time with this part. his tongue licked the smooth skin of your mons, before trailing down and kissing your slit right where your clit was.

you didn’t come unraveled easily, but you could feel yourself loosening up at his small touches. you knew you wouldn’t melt into a screaming mess, but you would feel pleasure beyond anything you’d ever felt.

as leon licked up your slit, you jumped, but there was no way around the sensitivity than to just dig right in. his tongue parted all of your folds, licking up and then starting right back again. when his tongue found your clit again, he opted to use a flat tongue to press against it, rolling his tongue back up into his mouth right against it.

god, leon knew how to eat. maybe it was the years you had put in together, or maybe he was genuinely just skilled. you couldn’t remember. you didn’t care.

it took heavenly minutes that melted like syrup into the fabric of time, but you finally climaxed. like you knew you would, you didn’t scream, or moan all that loudly. it was a lot of gasping, tensing, and one long, breathy moan before you were pulling leon’s slick-covered face from between your legs.

“i love you,” you breathed out, and he smiled.

“i love you more baby,” he breathed the same, laying a kiss on your lips as he handled his cock between your legs.

the fat head of leon’s cock nudged right at your entrance, but leon pulled it up to rub against your sensitive clit, just to see your legs kick.

“please,” you breathed out.

“please what?”

“just fuck me.”

he didn’t make you beg. he rarely did.

at the first stretch, the discomfort was plenty, but when leon passed that first bit of tight muscle, the slide was so much easier. your walls clamped around him, but they were so soft, velvety, so warm. leon felt like he was plunging into the very core of the earth. his earth. you.

“so good, baby,” he breathed into your ear, rolling his hips.

in and out. in and out. your breathing, his cock. they were one in the same. your breathing didn’t stay steady for long, as he picked up the pace, his force knocking the breath out of you. one of his hands found your breast, gripping for a moment before slipping down to the soft flesh below your hip.

there was nowhere else you would rather be. no one else you would rather be with.

your hands found the skin of his back, digging into the flesh and holding him close to you. you never wanted him to leave again. all those times he went away, always on business, you felt like there was a hole in your soul. a gaping cavity, missing your other half.

leon’s lips found yours, melting in a hot kiss as the head of his cock slid against your inner walls, looking for somewhere to catch. his hand slid around your back, gripping the flesh of your ass and using it to pull you up into him.

“love you,” he mumbled into the crook of your neck, his strokes stuttering for a moment as he readjusted the position and continued his quick strokes.

your breath came out of you in short huffs as his thrusting quickened, ramming into you for a short moment before leon let out a strangled moan, stilling slightly as he spilled into you. with the close angle, you could feel his dick twitch inside of you with every spurt, and it made you emit a few short, high pitched whines. his dick hit something inside you every time he came inside.

“did you—did you take . . .” he trailed off breathily, cut off by the shaking of your head. “do you want me to buy a pill—”

you shook your head again.

you both had been discussing children. you didn’t know if you really wanted to try to get pregnant, but . . . you didn’t want to try to not get pregnant.

“okay, baby,” leon breathed into your ear, laying on top of you for a few short seconds before sliding his cum-soaked cock out of you.

“i’m sorry i didn’t ask where you wanted it,” he muttered into your ear, curling up beside you.

“it’s okay, baby,” you breathed out, gooseflesh prickling upon your skin as you shuddered, pulling a blanket over the two of you.

your life would never be better than this. the promise of a future with the man you loved. the sun finally creeping in through the curtains. the morning easing into a golden afternoon. a sleepy smile crept to your face as you stared at the sheer curtains.

“what is it, baby?” leon whispered, seeing your expression.

“i . . . i’m just happy,” you whispered back. it had never been truer.

things had to stay that way. your love would not be stolen by work again. your dreams would not be taken away. he was a part of you forever. fate’s cruelty be damned.
