Work Text:

Finally. Izuku thought. I can finally go home and rest for a bit. His mom had a day off today. Which she absolutely deserved after two months of working full time 7am to 8pm. She had continuously apologized to Izuku every evening and left a new ‘I'm sorry Izu’ note on the kitchen counter every morning. She truly hated not being there when he came home or when he left.

But today she will be home. She'd be home and she'd hug him like she always used to. She would kiss him, tell him she loves him, make his favorite food for him, watch All-Might movies with him even though she doesn't like them and they've seen them a million Times already. But the most important thing is. She will be there. Izuku won't be alone. And that's what mattered.

Izuku had had a bad day. First off getting a bad grade, again, because he ‘cheated’. Second off being made fun of by the entire class for just wanting to go to UA. third off being told to jump off a roof and pray for a quirk in his next life, honestly who tf says that to someone, and last but not least being left alone on a roof after his idol, his favorite hero, the reason he was still alive, told him that his dream was not realistic.

To Izuku it felt like the man had just said go kill yourself. Realistically he knew that wasn't true, but that's what it felt like.

Not to mention he saw the same All-Might watch as his best friend was being KILLED by the villain that escaped because of no-one other than Izuku himself. But no-one knew. And no-one will ever know as izuku walked past his friend. But not before he had made eye contact with him and made the ‘L’ sight with his hands.

Pray for a quirk in my next life? Sure… why don't YOU pray for a better personality in YOUR next life.

Izuku opened the door to his apartment as he called out “Mom! I'm home!” Excited to find his mom coming at him with a hug. But the hug never came. Honestly… neither did his mom.

Izuku looked in his bedroom, she could be making my bed maybe?, no-one, he looked in her bedroom, maybe she's making her own bed? Cleaning her room?, no-one, he looked in the kitchen, no-one, living room, no-one.

In a panic Izuku grabbed his phone and dialed his mother's number. Beep. Please pick up. Beep. Come on mom. Beep. Please! Hello! This is the voicemail of Inko Midoriya, please leave a message after the tone, I will call you back shortly. Izuku stared at his phone still going. Beep. “Mom? Are you there? I just wanted to let you know that I'm home, can you call me or text me about when you expect to be home? Love you, Bye.” He hung up.

A few hours later he still hadn't heard anything. He had been home since 4pm and his mom was supposed to be home too. But now it's 7pm, Izuku hadn't eaten anything yet and his stomach begged him to eat something. But how can he eat when his mom isn't here? It's not polite to start dinner before everyone was seated and had their food.

Ping. Izuku got a text, he went to look at it. It's from his mom.

Mom💞:
‘I love you, I didn't deserve you, and you don't deserve this. Any of this.’

you:
‘Mom? What do you mean?’
‘When are you coming home?’
‘Did something happen?’
‘Where are you? I'll pick you up. Just tell me everything's okay!’
‘Mom answer me!’ PLEASE!’

After five minutes of waiting for an answer that never came, Izuku decided to go outside and find his mother. He walked into alleys he usually would never go into. He walked all the way to the supermarket, then to the mall, then to his mom's work where no-one had seen her all day. Which was the only thing that made sense since it was her day off after all.

It must have been at least 1.5 hours before he decided to go back home. Maybe she will be back now. On his way home he once again checked every alley, he went by the supermarket again and that's when he saw it. There were cops surrounding an alley. There were detectives, rescue heroes and officers.

Maybe I can ask them if they know where my mother is, maybe she contacted them?

“Excuse me… sir?” a detective with short brown hair standing by the wall looked his way. “What's the matter kid? Isn't it a bit late for you to be alone out here? It's quite dangerous.” Izuku doesn't know what time it is. But I had to be at least 9:15pm.

“I just-” Izuku felt tears well up inside his eyes. “I-” he tried so hard not to cry, he couldn't cry, not now, he needs to tell the detective what happened, why he's here. “My mom…” he said as he wiped his eyes from the tears that he couldn't contain any longer. “She- She didn’t. come *hic* home.” He managed to get out before he broke down and officially started crying.

The detective shares a look with his colleague before he kneels down and puts a hand on the decrying teens shoulder and says “can you tell me what she looks like?” Izuku, breath shaking and the regular interruption by a sob, explains what his mom looks like.

The detective shares another look with his colleague, this one more intense and worried. But Izuku didn't notice, the only thing on his mind was his mother. “Come with me kid. I'll take you to the station where we can talk a bit more about your mother, okay?” Izuku nodded. And If the detective let out a heavy shaky breath, well screw him, the kid didn't notice anything anyway, he was way too out of it for that.

As they walked towards the car, Izuku couldn't help but look into the alley that the police had put lint in front of. His breathing stopped. His heart dropped and broke as he saw his own mother lying in a pool of blood with her severed head half a meter away from her body.

The boy let out a horrific scream, one that will haunt the detective for life as he noticed the boy had stopped following him.

“THATS MY MOM!” The boy yelled as he fell down to his knees, he couldn't look away if he wanted to. And oh boy did he want to. “THAT'S MY MOTHER!” The detective grabbed him by his arm and put him back on his feet. “Come on kid, everything will be okay.”

“NO! PLEASE!” Izuku tried to get out of the detective's grip and run towards his mother's unmoving body. “MOM!!” He yelled. “MAMA PLEASE!” He cried. But as much as he screamed, as much as he cried, she wouldn't come back. She will never come home.

She will never hug or kiss him again. She will never tell him she loves him again, or make his favorite food. She will never stay up with him watching movies she hates, or tug him cozily into bed. But worst of all, she will never be there for him again. He will never see her smile again outside of old pictures. He will never see her again.

Izuku can't handle it anymore, he snatches his wrist out of the detective's grip and runs. He runs as fast as he can, which is pretty fast considering he has to run away from katsuki everyday. He can hear people calling out to him but he keeps running.

He will forever be alone…

Inko has a day off. Finally. She’s so tired she could honestly just stay in bed the entire day and just sleep. but that wouldn't work. She was planning on making her son’s favorite dinner because it had been at least two months since he’s had it, seeing as izuku couldn't cook or bake if his life depended on it. so she made the decision to go to the supermarket.

Inko was about to go back home when she saw a small girl crying in an alley, and a man with a beak-like mask covering his face telling her to ‘’Shut up’’. Inko, being a mother of a bullied child, couldn’t let this just happen in the shadows. She had two options. One, ask anyone around to help the little girl and to not get involved with it. Two, to go fuck up that abuse cunt hurting a four year old. Option 1 would take too long to get into action, so she chose two.

‘’Hey! What in the world do you think you're doing, huh?’’ The beak freak turned his head to look at her. After that no words were spoken until mister beak cunt was sitting on top of her with a meat knife to her neck. Inko was crying. She had good reasons to cry. She would never get to see her son again, and this little girl would, knowing abusers, get the blame for her stupid actions and get in even more trouble, and even more pain than that she already was.

She could see her own son in this little girl. so many differences, but so alike. They shared the same worries, not for themselves, but for others. They shared getting hurt from a young age without having done anything wrong. they didn't deserve this. The world doesn’t deserve people like them.

‘’Any last words?’’ The beak bitch looked at her with impatience. ‘’My son, Izuku…’’ She stopped for a second to catch her breath after fighting this bird ass wannabe guy. ‘’Please, text him… tell him, I love him. He doesnt deserve this… ANY of this…’’ Beaky grabbed the woman's phone out of her pocket, ‘’49858… the password.’’ The man didn't say anything. It was quiet for a moment. Until Beaks shoved Inko’s own phone in her face showing her the texts.

You:
‘I love you, I didn't deserve you, and you don't deserve this. Any of this.’

Izu❤️:
‘typing’

Inko wished she’d get to see her son’s reply. to know that she ment enough to him that he’d be worried about her. But that never happened. one second she was looking at the phone, seeing her son typing out his response. the next she wasn't there anymore. Nothing was there anymore. Just a black void.

She will always wonder what her son's response might have been…

Notes:

I loved writig this! I love angst! So please let me know what you thought of this fic!

This was heavily inspired by a tiktok i saw about someone going though this. I kinda felt bad about mmaking it into a fanfic about fictional characters because of this, and knowing that someone had gone through this in real life made me cry even more.

Anyway so I did make it into a fanfic... I know I'm dissapointed in myself too..

PS: I don't know if you noticed but i really don't like Overhaul. :)
