The Bradford Girls

Summary:

NGL Prompt: Just saw your “ Chenford baby” and thought of a fluff fic where Lucy dresses their baby girl in an outfit Tim picked when she was pregnant and he gets emotional. Love your writing 🫶🏻💕

Work Text:

Tim needs to make a pit stop before he heads home. He knows that Lucy is exhausted and won’t stop for anything. She is thirty two weeks pregnant. Tim is beyond excited for their little girl to make her arrival and he has done absolutely everything he can to support her. Lucy hadn’t asked for anything, but he stopped for some of her favorite snacks.

Three types of ice cream

Reese’s

Nutella

Pickles

Lavender lotion

Tim quickly grabs the items before his eye is caught by baby clothes. They’ve done most of their shopping together. Tim can’t help but smile as he looks at all the tiny clothes. Something catches his eye. It’s three bibs and two bows. Tim’s eyes get misty as he puts them in the cart. He imagines his baby girl wearing them. He’s about to leave when he sees an outfit. It’s a pink onesie that says Daddy’s Little Girl with two tiny hearts. The pants are white with pink and navy blue hearts on them. It comes with the tiniest shoes that match and he has it in the cart. Tim goes to pay, grabbing Lucy supplies for a massage because he knows she is sore and then goes to pay. Tim can’t wait to get home.

Tim walks in the house excited. “I’m home baby.” He doesn’t see Lucy, but he makes sure to put the ice cream in the freezer before going to find her. He finds her on their bed, tears streaming down her face.

“Oh baby. What’s wrong?” Lucy jumps at Tim’s voice but melts into his arms.

“I don’t even know. She’s coming so soon and I’m scared. I tried to put on one of your shirts and I can’t even get it over my belly. I’m just a hormonal mess.” Tim rubs her back.

“I told you. You are absolutely gorgeous. You’re growing our little girl every single day.” Lucy nuzzles her head into Tim’s chest. “I got your favorite snacks and you will be getting a full body massage tonight.” Lucy sees the bags on the bed and wants to cry.

“Tim. You did this for me?” Tim nods.

“Of course I did, baby. You’re doing the hard part. I also got ice cream.” Tim smiles.

“Thank you babe. I’m so damn lucky.” Tim wipes a few tears off her cheeks.

“Also, look at what I found today.” Tim says excitedly as he pulls the outfit and bibs out. “I couldn’t help myself. She’s going to look so cute in this. It’s zero to three months. I hope she can wear it soon.” Lucy kisses her husband to quiet him.

“I love it, Tim. I can’t wait to see our little girl dressed in it.” Lucy smiles as Tim runs his hands over the small items.

“She’s almost here.” Tim moves his hand to her belly and feels a kick. “I think she likes it.”

“She does. Baby girl is also hungry.” Tim kisses her.

“It’s a good thing I got you dinner.” Lucy smiles as Tim helps her up. He holds his wife close as he feels another kick from their daughter. “Guess that’s my cue.”

Just seven short weeks later, their daughter comes into this world and they fall in love immediately. Arya Rose Bradford is the light of her parents' world. Tim has six weeks of leave, but there’s an emergency at the station when Arya is two weeks old. He has to go in and hates every minute of it.

“Hi baby girl.” Lucy says as she nurses her daughter. Tim has been splitting everything between them. He wants Lucy to rest and recover. “Daddy will be home soon.” Tim’s been gone for two hours and Arya just woke up hungry. He promised he wouldn’t be gone all day and she knows he will do whatever he has to in order to get out quickly.

“Let’s give you a bath and get you dressed.” The baby screams the entire bath, she does not like the water. “It’s okay Arya. We’re almost done.” Lucy says. They finish the bath and Lucy wraps her in a towel.

Lucy places her on the changing pad, quickly getting a diaper on. They have learned their lesson on not getting a diaper put on quickly. “Let’s put some lotion on.” Lucy rubs the lotion on her daughter’s skin. She picked out an outfit, the very one Tim picked out. Thankfully it fits. Arya was born at over eight pounds and newborn clothes weren’t fitting. Lucy picks one of the pink bows and the Daddy’s Little Princess bib for her feedings.

“You are so beautiful.” Lucy says as she looks at the sleeping baby. Arya is her daddy’s mini me, except for the brown hair. “I love you Arya.” Lucy moves to the couch. An hour later, Tim comes home and runs inside.

“Hey.” Lucy says tiredly. Tim frowns.

“You’re supposed to be resting.” He crosses his arms as she finishes switching the laundry.

“I know, but we needed clothes washed and you’ve done so much.” Lucy says and Tim pulls her in once she’s done.

“I’ve got you. You have done the hard work between carrying our daughter and giving birth.” Lucy holds onto Tim. It’s much easier without her belly in the way, although she still has one, just no baby inside. “Come on.” Tim says moving her to the couch. Tim grabs Arya and cuddles her.

“God that sucked. I don’t know how I’ll ever go back to work.” Tim says as he holds his daughter close. Tim looks at her and he has tears well in his eyes. “Arya.”

Lucy stands up and wraps her arms around Tim. “It fits perfectly. I thought it would be a nice surprise.” She looks at her husband who’s crying.

“She’s just so perfect. Thank you Lucy. It does fit perfectly. You’re my little miracle. You’re a daddy’s girl aren’t you?” Lucy laughs.

“She really is. I did all the hard work and she comes out looking like you. Only wants you.” Lucy says jokingly.

“She loves her mama.” Tim says and Lucy knows she was joking.

“She is perfect. I need a picture.” Tim says, not even hiding the tears. Tim lays her on the couch, snapping a few photos. “The bow is just perfect.” He says. “The shoes!” Lucy hands them to Tim and he puts them on for the picture. “Oh there it is!” He hands Arya to her mother.

“Now I need one of the two most incredible girls in my life.” Lucy rolls her eyes and obliges.

“My turn.” She hands Arya to Tim. Lucy snaps a few pictures and the tears start. “Look.” Lucy says, handing her phone to Tim. “My new Lock Screen.” Tim smiles. He holds his daughter the rest of the day. Tim continued to buy his daughter clothes, even finding a few matching outfits for all of them.
