Wise men say, only fools rush in.
Sunlight filtered through the blinds, a pair of cream-colored curtains wisp in the gently morning air that was sneaking past the slightly open window. A gentle tune from the small radio on the counter echoed throughout the kitchen, filling it with a sense of peace. Satoru stood at the stove, wearing his light pink gingham apron, humming to the tune as he flips the pancakes he’s cooking. He’s so engrossed in the task he doesn’t notice the quiet shuffling of socks on hardwood approaching.
Satoru squeaks when a pair of arms wrap around his waist, warm chest pressed against his back, nose at the nape of his neck. A delighted chuckle escapes his mouth at the tickling sensation of soft kisses. His left hand moves to rest over Suguru’s, interlacing their fingers together. The gold band on his finger glints, catching his gaze and he smiles sweetly at Suguru’s matching ring.
But I can't help falling in love with you
“Suguru,” Satoru says softly, laughing when he feels a grumpy murmur against his skin. “I was going to get you when I finished.”
“I got lonely. It’s cold without you.” Suguru’s sleep laced voice vibrated against him. “What are you doing?”
“Trying to pamper you for once.”
Suguru hums in acknowledgement. The strong arms around Satoru tightened as Suguru pressed his nose further into the junction of his neck. Satoru playfully rolls his eyes as he turns off the stove, moving to take the pancakes off the heat. And to think Suguru calls him the clingy one.
Once breakfast is saved from being burnt to a crisp, Satoru spins around in Suguru’s embrace until the two are facing each other, chest to chest. His heart swells as he meets Suguru’s eyes, warm breath fans against his face as his pale arms loop around the other's neck.
Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?
Satoru takes a second to memorize the features of his sleepy husband. Disheveled raven locks, the small creases under his lids accompanied by dark circles, the dried drool on the side of his plump lips. His long slender nose that comes to a point that he will always kiss whenever he’s given the chance. And those eyes. A deep honey hue, so sweet and loving yet full with devotion and a fiery passion. Satoru loves everything that is Suguru, but right now, he thinks he loves his eyes the most.
If I can't help falling in love with you?
They stayed there for a moment, staring at each other and soaking in each other’s presence. Their days were normally hectic between missions and teaching. Any chance the two got to just be still and together was so very precious. Getting lost in each other brought a sense of peace that wasn’t easy to find.
Suguru pulls back, reaching up to Satoru’s arms, intertwining their fingers, guiding them to the center of the kitchen. He holds one hand above the other’s head, spinning Satoru around before bringing him close. The snow haired man giggles, finding the move endearing.
Suguru rests his hands on his hips as Satoru once more wraps his arms around his neck, forehead against forehead. They begin to sway to the music, shifting side to side, barely picking up their feet. This was Satoru’s favorite place to be, safe and protected in Suguru’s arms. Here he could forget all the horrors they faced, even if only for a few minutes. And there was something incredibly grounding about Suguru’s scent, home.
Like a river flows. Surely to the sea
They breathed each other’s air until it blended into one. The pair’s noses gently rubbed against each other. Satoru doesn’t know how long they stayed there, and honestly, he really didn’t care. All he wanted was to feel was the love coming from the man in front of him.
Without any hesitation, Suguru connects his lips to Satoru’s, moving one hand to cup his cheek. The kiss wasn’t hot or heavy, simply loving. It was chaste at first, lips brushing gently, slotting together like two puzzle pieces. Satoru melts, savoring the warmth as he grabs at Suguru’s hair, deepening the kiss.
Darling, so it goes. Some things are meant to be
Tingles made its way down his spine when Suguru’s tongue teases against his lips until he parts his mouth. The motions are slow but thorough, filled with intent. Satoru’s knees tremble and he swears it would have given out if not for the arms holding him. Despite being together for years, every kiss made Satoru’s heart sore, as if it was their first one all over again. Suguru reluctantly breaks the kiss, pulling away to admire the rosy blush that dusted his pale cheeks.
“Sorry, couldn’t help myself. You’re just so fucking cute in that apron.” Satoru laughs, amused at his comment. He closes his eyes, moving to rest his forehead against Suguru’s shoulder. Their breakfast grew cold, long forgotten.
Take my hand. Take my whole life, too
The sound of their steps was drowned out by the soft tune. A soft breeze carried throughout their little home. The two remained cocooned in each other's arms moving to beat in an unhurried tempo. Satoru felt so content, surrounded by the steady palpitations of Suguru’s heartbeat. A lovesick smile graced his face.
In return, Suguru rests his head atop Satoru’s, buries his nose in white starlight. His arms remained curled around Satoru’s waist, keeping him flush against his frame. There was nowhere he would rather be. A warm sensation tugged at his heart, lulling him to plant a loving kiss on the other’s head. The couple continued their peaceful dance encapsulated by a deep-seated love, so strong nothing could disrupt it.
For I can't help falling in love with you
The world continued to move, as the streets began to wake up, growing livelier by the second. However, for Suguru and Satoru, time slowed down. Right now, the two existed in a reality that allowed them to hold each other tightly.
And with a tender kiss to his forehead, “I love you, Satoru.”
“I love you too.”
For I can't help falling in love with you.
