Chapter Text
“Ugh, I can't sleep…" Aira had to sit up straight after wasting a few minutes being splayed on the cold, hard ground. Not only was it hard to sleep on, but sleeping with no supporter pillows on might ruin his posture. He glares slightly at the redhead beside him who doesn't seem to have any problems or complaints with their current situation.
They are currently in the gym after both of them get inside due to curiosity but they accidentally end up getting locked inside. The room was too dark for Aira to actually see Hiiro but he can tell that he's comfortable, for some reason.
“I can be your pillow, Aira!” Hiiro said as he sat up with his arms wide. “It's hot, the floor is too stiff, and you'll have a hard time sleeping. Maybe I can help you relax for a bit.”
“As if I'll actually sleep if I do that…” Aira replied rather instantly, silently thanking the darkness for hiding his blush he was on his offer.
“I still can't get why you're still in a good mood even if we're trapped here until morning.”
“Umu! It's my first time sleeping with Aira! That's why I couldn't help but be glad at this opportunity.”
“Don’t make it sound as if it's a good thing!” Aira rebuked with a pout, but deep down he was just being a little stubborn on how flustered he's getting. He slowly scooted away from Hiiro, not really taking in the heat very well due to how lacking the ventilation is inside the storage room. He can even feel himself sweating inside and finding it a bit difficult for it to breathe. “It's really hot, so you stay there for now.”
Aira can feel Hiiro's pout from there even through the darkness, and feels no remorse whatsoever. That's what he gets from locking them both in!—
CRASH
Instinctively, Aira let out a frightened yelp and grabbed onto the nearest thing he could find and never let go, and that would be Hiiro.
“WhatwasthatWhatwasthatWhatwasthatWhatwasthatWhatwasthat—”
Aira be damned! He clearly thinks that it was his mean thoughts about Hiiro that the skies above them has struck them down as a warning for ever bullying, for what they call, an actual cinnamon roll.
The redhead only chuckled and even brushed his hand across Aira's hair to soothe him down. They both know that it's not working, yet Hiiro didn't stop regardless.
“You should calm down, Aira. It’s probably just a stone rolling over from a tree branch and coincidentally crashing into the roof.”
"Thank you for being specific,” Aira said sarcastically with a roll of his eyes. He still thinks it's just some bad omen.
“You're welcome!"
Aira reluctantly pulls away from the guy. Reluctantly because he kinda wanted it to stay that way but at the same time wouldn't. Reason #1 is because of his pride and will take this secret to the grave! Reason #2 is because it's basically sweltering inside the room, and it'll be much worse if Aira ends up sticking to Hiiro.
He'll.. he'll probably reconsider once they're in a room with less “unfortunate conditions" such as this. Ahem, anyway! Change of topic!
Once Aira had his distance, he grabbed Hiiro's hand, who was shocked at the sudden gesture.
"Let's just stay like this, okay? That way, I'll know where you are even if it's pitch dark in here.” Aira sighs as he couldn't deny that holding his hand really feels reassuring. Not only does it help him calm down before doing a live performance, I guess it can also make him feel somewhat safer.
And hell is he ever gonna say this out loud. He'll take this secret to the grave!
“What time is iiit, it feels like the time hasn't been moving at all…” He whined, being like one of those bratty kids on a roadtrip who frequently asks if they're there yet.
“Uh, I think it's around 2AM!"
“Whaaat? It's still too early for me. Around this time, I'd probably still be watching a live performance replay."
"Do you always stay up this late Aira? I'm usually asleep during these hours.”
“Well curse you and your normal sleep schedule…”
Aira turns back to Hiiro, huffing and pouting a bit after their short bantering, yet still not letting go of his hand.
“I still can't sleep, so tell me something interesting. What's on your mind today, Hiro-kun?"
Aira can hear Hiiro humming around for a bit as if he's thinking up a good story to tell him. Heck, even Hiiro's own singing voice would probably lull him to sleep since it's usually so mellow. Not that he'll actually request that even if he clearly wants to. He'll take this secret to the grave.
“Umu!" Hiiro suddenly exclaimed, giving Aira a mini heart attack. He immediately takes back the so-called ‘mellow’ voice that he presumably has. “There's always rumors about a strange phenomenon going around recently, that there's some kind of scary poltergeist that will haunt and eat students that are still around the gym storage room at 2AM!"
"That is not funny! If you say anything more I'll hate you forever!” Aira screeched after getting a 2nd mini heart attack, and is clinging onto Hiiro once more. Aira wondered how he's never gotten fed up with how cowardly he's being.
“I thought you said it's too hot to be staying close to me?”
"Well how can I do that when you keep giving me heart failure attempts?!"
“It's just a story!" Hiiro can tell that Aira doesn't notice that he's holding on tight to him as he feels his body warmth all over again. He holds onto Aira carefully so he doesn't hurt himself whenever he moves on impulse again. “What if I just told you a story that might help you sleep?"
“You could've just done that in the first place." Aira sighed once more as he should've just suggested that to begin with instead of asking him to say something ‘interesting.’ Clearly that's his fault to begin with, but he won't ever take accountability on that. nuh uh.
“Alright. This is the time when me and my Nii-san went out hunting for bugs when we were still children…”
With each passing second, his eyes began to feel heavy. He doesn't care at all to what Hiiro's saying because then again, his voice is what makes him so mesmerised. He slowly lowered his head against Hiiro's chest as he continued listening to his tale of his early childhood, eventually closing his eyes and falling asleep right after. Well if Hiiro complains about this, then let him whine! He's the reason why they're trapped here in the first place. This is merely considered as an act of compensation. It's not like Aira wants this to happen or anything.
“... By then, he had already caught lots! And I'm still struggling to catch even a single one of them. Nii-san surely is… hm? Ah, Aira's asleep already. If only there was light. It would've been cute to see Aira's sleeping face.”
Aira scowls at him immediately after hearing him stop. He was so close to actually sleeping, yet Hiiro just had to disrupt everything and even had the gall to tease him. “I'm not entirely asleep. Just keep going!"
"Aira you're still awake? Umu. Well after that, me and Nii-san went to climb a big tree to watch the sunset…”
Well what do you know, he actually continued. Seems like Hiiro can still listen to Aira at some times. He went and told how calm and serene their environment was back then, and described how nice the sunset looked. He even pointed out how he can still remember what it looked like until now.
Aira was a little envious, he wanted to see one too. He just doesn't have enough time to go watch a sunset properly recently and he was too much of a shut-in to watch a beautiful sunset during his early childhood. It must've been a pleasant sight. He wanted to go watch a sunset with Hiro-kun someday, but he'll never admit that. He'll take this secret to the…
“Hiro-kun… I wanna go… watch the sunset with you…” He mumbled in his sleep!! causing Hiiro to blink for a few times in plain shock before smiling warmly at him.
“Umu, I understand. Let's go watch a sunset together someday,” he mumbled to Aira with the softest voice ever so that he wouldn't abruptly wake him up again. He pulled him closer so that he would be able to kiss his forehead before going to sleep himself. It'll be alright, Aira's already asleep anyway so he wouldn't notice. What Hiiro wouldn't notice is how Aira was faintly smiling at that.
“Uuu… Tatsumi-san, I found their stuff!” Mayoi finally exclaimed after trying to find the other 2 members of Alkaloid, they're super late for practice! Not that it matters, the two upperclassmen were worried sick about them; none of their roommates don't know where they are plus they're not picking up on any of their calls. He heard Tatsumi, who was on the other end of the call, sigh in relief. It seems like he was just as worried as he was. Who wouldn't be worried about them anyway?!
“Mayoi-san, have you found where they are?"
“I know where their things are, b-but I still couldn't find them. Please forgive me for being too useless…”
What Mayoi doesn't quite understand is that how would their belongings be inside the gym, but the owners are not present at all… Since there's just 1 place this gym is connected to, Mayoi probably knows where they are now!!
…
“Mayoi-san, hello? Are you still there?”
"They're not in the vents.”
"...Pardon?”
They're not in the vents.
Mayoi awkwardly cleared his throat and safely hopped off the vents. Scratch the vents then. There's actually 1 other room this gym is connected to other than the vents, and that's the storage room! Mayoi picked a god and prayed since he is becoming desperate for finding his loving babies now. This godforsaken room is his last chance and if they're not in there… Mayoi gulped as he doesn't even want to imagine what horrors Tatsumi would do to him.
Mayoi gently opens the door and lets out an audible gasp at the sight.
“Mayoi-san?"
"T-they’re…”
"They're what, Mayoi-san? Are the kids safe?!” Tatsumi said through the phone with worry evident in his voice.
“They're so adorable!!"
“..."
Now Mayoi can feel that he's going to get brutally killed by Tatsumi later for giving him a shock, but it's going to be so worth it when he's blessed by such a wholesome sight in front of him.
Above the floor mat lies the 2 sleeping sillies. Aira rests above Hiiro who had his arms wrapped around him this entire time so that he wouldn't fall. Mayoi doesn't know why they're in here to begin with, but wouldn't even dare disrupt their peaceful slumber because why would he? He wouldn't gain anything from doing that at all. He watches them once more for a good minute before going back out to guard the door in case someone wants to get in.
“I'll give them a few more minutes. I'm sure Tatsumi-san doesn't mind at all."
