Work Text:

` Still, she tears at my sweater . `

It was a cold autumn day. The summer had just passed, and the temperature was beginning to drop. Skies dimmed eventually as days passed, the streets becoming damp once again. Leaves would crunch beneath your feet if you took a stroll through the park, leaving nothing but crushed remains of what was once green and beautiful.

Crunch.

Sigma was doing the latter— walking through the park during the autumn. After all was said and done, things were finally over, it’d been bad. They were under house arrest for a while to ensure the terrorist would do no more harm (Dazai had protested, but nobody listened to him; when did they ever?). It was their first day allowed out of the house, and after visiting a cafe, they’d decided to roam the park.

It was their first time out in the wild of Yokohama. The scenery was stunning. The grass was still green as autumn had only just arrived, but the leaves had begun to fall from their trees, landing upon the footpath made for the people of Yokohama. They were out for a while, so the sun had begun to set, dipping carefully below the landscape. Skies changed from a dull blue to a vibrant orange, blending in with the trees standing tall.

In their awe, they hadn’t noticed the white haired boy dashing towards them in what seemed to be a hurry.

“ Sigma! “ Comes a voice. It’s upbeat and happy, quite the contrast to the calmness of their setting.

They look down from the sky, but it’s too late. Before long they end up on a heap on the ground, a thud following closely after. It seems the white haired boy (Atsushi, they think his name was. They hadn’t seen him in so long) had tackled them to the floor, clawing at their knitted sweater in a hug. At the moment they want to yell, want to be angry at him, but they can’t. Instead, they begin to laugh.

“ God, I haven’t seen you in so long- Dazai says you were on house arrest. I’m glad you’re out! “

“ Thanks. You seem to be doing great. “

The two finally stand back up, brushing themselves off. Atsushi was right about their situation, but at least he was considerate about it. There was no real reason for them to be mad about his hug; in reality, they enjoyed it. It was nice to have somebody miss them for once, to not want them just for their own selfish use.

Atsushi and Sigma could be friends, they decided.

` Not a lot, just forever . `

The time on the clock reads 12:26. Sigma’s finishing up their work now, preparing to take their break in a few minutes.

After getting a job at the agency, things had changed drastically. Admittedly, the agency paid much less than working at the Sky Casino, so things that they considered normal there were luxuries here. However, that didn’t change the fact that they’d become much better mentally. They were happier and worked well (though many were concerned they over-worked themselves), making new friends at the agency and being in a much better place overall.

Sigma snaps out of their trance when Atsushi taps them on the shoulder.

Atsushi. After joining the agency, their bond with him had grown indefinitely stronger. The pair were basically attached at the hip, always seen together. They’d help him with extra paperwork Dazai would force upon him, and he’d make sure they didn’t overwork themselves into exhaustion. An inseparable pair.

“ Do you wanna go down to the Uzumaki for our break? “ He always seemed so happy around them. It was nice to know that somebody felt safe around them.

“ Alright then. Shall we go? “

Sigma stands up with a stretch, cracking their back in the process. Being hunched over their desk scribbling down paperwork all day does affect your posture quite a bit. Getting a crack out of it felt great.

“ Mhm! “

Atsushi’s basically bouncing off the walls as he checks the clock. 12:30. Time for their lunch break.

Glancing at their desk before beginning to walk around it, they take to Atsushi’s side as they begin to leave. Their heels click on the floor with each step they take, a nice contrast to Atsushi’s beaten boots quietly grazing the ground. The two leave the door, and once out, muttering begins to spread throughout the office. They simply ignore it.

The break had been rather peaceful. Atsushi would talk on and on, never quieting down for a moment while Sigma listened, quietly laughing or responding to any questions asked. It was how things always were between them, and that was what they were happy with.

` Intertwined, sewn together . `

A peaceful night. Stars shimmer brightly in the sky, going against the darkness of the night. The light from the moon bounced off of buildings and cars, reflecting beautifully against everything. It was all so gorgeous.

Inside of a cozy restaurant sit the aforementioned pair, chuckling softly as a pinkness brushes on their cheeks. Two hot meals sit in front of them, steaming from the heat. It was a gentle night, a sweetly romantic one too. To anybody watch, they’d know well that the two were on a date.

It wasn’t their first, but yet they were still nervous. It doesn’t bring tension to the table, nor awkwardness, but rather a sense of comfort. Laughing the night away with restlessness in their voices, it was all a sight to see. They loved one another dearly, spending every moment together. Dates like this were simply for the sake of being with each other, no underlying intentions.

So how do they end up in the hallway of Sigma’s shabby apartment, pressed against a wall with their lips never leaving the others bodies? The only source of light now was the moonlight that shone through the windows, making the two glow. The awkwardness from earlier had completely left the air, replaced with affection and lust.

As I mentioned before; they were inseparable.
