Work Text:
“For clarification, you are aware?”
“That Yae and Ei are part of the reason that I’m single? Yes.” Sara answers simply. “I’m dense but not that dense.”
“Is another part that you like it?” Candace inquires.
“Like it or like them?”
“Yes.”
“Yes.”
Several beats of silence pass between them.
“I like them both.”
“We know, Sara.” The reply is chirpy, and humble with slight smugness that shows Candace that Sara isn’t even mad.
“Is that even possible?”
“I don’t know, Sara.” And that is our first lie folks! Always a pleasure to talk to Candace really.
“So, what’s the game plan for when you guys finally do it?” Keqing questions, finally chipping in on the conversation.
The woman had been so quiet this whole get-together - unless they were discussing work - Sara almost forgot she was there. Actually, she forgot everyone else was here too.
“What?” Oh, there’s Ganyu!
“What?” Sara parrots.
The question wasn’t un-Keqing but still, it’s not the question she’d expect at all. Does she look like a virgin? The thought upsets Sara. Ningguang has told her she was quite the catch, mind you. Well, Ningguang was drunk at the time, and they were fishing on Beidou’s boat and in hindsight, that may have been the alcohol talking. Well, that sucks. Sara thought Ning was being genuine. (Ning was.)
“HAHA!” Aaannd there’s Beidou. “Do you think Sara is a virgin or something?”
“It felt implied.”
“Implied?” Ganyu now parroted.
“Implied!” Beidou burst out laughing again, gripping the table not to slip off and fall on her ass.
“It is my absolute honour to let you know Sara gets around.” And there is Jean, drunk, gripping Beidou’s pants to keep her upright. How dependable. Sara wishes she’d let go and let the fucker fall actually. It’d be cute if Beidou’s face didn’t look as amused as it did.
“How would YOU know, Grandmaster?” Beidou slurs. “Sara, you’ve been out with other people?”
“I’m sorry but why would I take a woman in a committed relationship out to get laid?”
“So, you took another woman in a committed relationship?!”
“This was before Lisa and Jean became official.”
“Then Yelan took over for me,” Jean shared too happily, and Sara would throw these complimentary peanuts at her if she weren’t so cute while airing out her business.
“For your information, Ning would’ve loved to see you get laid.”
“Phrasing!” Ganyu interjected in an attempt to correct Beidou.
“Sorry. Sorry. Ning and I would’ve loved to see you get laid.”
Everyone at the table except for Sara, Keqing, and Beidou choked on their drinks. That statement was just so Beidou that Sara and Keqing didn’t even flinch. They’ve seen and heard enough.
Keqing hums, “You know now that I’m really looking at you... you are not unattractive.”
Beidou snorts. They may need to stop drinking.
“Gee, thanks Qing.”
“I’ll allow this.” Beidou motions between the two women, “IF you give Sara back when those two are ready to make it official with her.”
“Allow?” And it’s comical how high Ganyu’s eyebrows are.
“Give her back?” Keqing questioned, a devious smile on her face that should not send a thrill down her spine, but it did. Sara was only human.
“No more drinks for Keqing!” Jean cheered as if she even had the right to say that.
“I think we all should get cut off,” Sara spoke, suddenly sound of mind.
“I’ve already sent out the pickup signals.”
“Thank you, Gan.”
“Actually, I haven’t sent yours.”
“Yes, does she send it to Yae, Ei, or both?” Candace, this time.
“Oh, fuck you!” Sara curses to no one specific.
“1000 mora says both will come regardless of who I text.”
“1500 mora if you text neither of them,” Jean offers up. This might be the worst betrayal of the night.
“3000 mora if you let Sara go home with me,” Keqing offered cheekily.
“Oh-” Beidou starts.
“Shit!” Ganyu finishes and it’s so unlike her that everyone has to laugh.
The laugh Candace lets out after is downright filthy and smug. Why was Sara so attuned to her in particular now? She didn’t know but this was bad. This was a test.
Archons be good, this is not fair. Keqing she can avoid but Candace, history says no.
This had to be a test. If she went home with Candace, she would definitely end up in someone else’s threesome situation. Not that she hadn’t been in it before, not that she would have any qualms about being in it again if she had been untangled as she had been before. But she wasn't, she needed to woman up and get more tangled if you asked anyone.
The thing is, Sara is 100% sure she’s just teasing her now though and she’s also quite sure she’s the only one at the table who knows Candace as intimately as she does. Sara thinks when she’s more clear-headed she should check in on her friend’s situation with Dehya and Dunyarzad. She wonders who Ganyu decided to contact to pick her friend up. Would Dunyarzad surprise them and collect their lady this time? That would sober up the party quite well indeed.
This get-together really was the worst idea she’d ever thought up. It had been two years since they’d been together since their last year of university. Earlier in the night before everyone turned on her was great but Sara guesses this is the consequence of being the last of their friend group to get ‘it’ together. Are all her nice friends just assholes? Well-meaning, attractive assholes but still.
“5000 mora if you call Kuki instead,” she countered absentmindedly.
There is nothing rarer than a purposefully mischievous Ganyu, “5000 mora and I get first call.”
“First call?” And it’s cathartic for Sara to be the only one who understands what Ganyu means for once.
“Deal.”
“Sold.”
“WAIT.”
Beidou is more than a pretty face sometimes as in that moment Sara is sure she’s the only one who realized what Ganyu was asking of her.
Half holding up a very uncoordinated Sara, Shinobu manoeuvred her way to the building with the grace of an elephant. It didn’t help that Sara kept whispering mad-like ramblings in her ear.
“Stop mumbling in my ear you or I’m going to drop you, you stupid drunk bird.”
Tripping over her own feet, Sara ignored the little moss head’s complaints, flooding her with her hot, alcohol-leaden breath.
“I need a kiss.”
“Sara…” Shinobu grated out as she painstakingly carried the woman almost a foot taller than herself up the stairs “I am not the one… not even one of the two. So shut up and put your feet back on the floor.”
Sara giggled, sliding off Shinobu and letting most of her weight fall onto her wobbly legs as they reached Apartment 5 with its turquoise door and kitsune doorknocker. As she reached for the hook to knock, a sly idea crossed Shinobu’s mind, a get back at Sara for making the last 10 minutes of her life so unnecessarily hard. Grabbing the magatamas on the doorknocker, she yelled “DoorDash, I’ve got your meal!”
A sudden burst of rustling comes from behind the door followed by a very confused, “DoorDash? Ei, did you order food?”
Said woman opened the door not fully focusing on the peculiar scene in the hallway, “No but let’s not spit in the universe's face. If it wants us to have food…”
Before she can finish the statement, a very fluid Sara is deposited in her arms and she can only watch with confusion as Shinobu walks back down the hall, throwing a final jab over her shoulder, “Only the finest for our favourite regulars, be sure to give us 5 stars.”
Yae watches Ei quizzically hunched at their door with her back to the room, “Who was that? What is it?”
After a moment, Ei turns around with an uncharacteristically dishevelled Sara drooping sleepily in her arms, “One order of Sara, I guess.”
A sly, knowing chuckle falls from her lips and its tinkling notes carry across the room infecting Yae who lets out a low chuckle of her own, “I have been dying to try that.”
Ei only allowed herself a grunt of agreement aloud as Yae made her way to help.
Both women carry Sara tenderly into the bedroom, listening to her incoherent mumbling and smiling at their crow. Wordlessly they took care of her, stripping off her sullied clothes and cleaning off her makeup-stained face as if it were the most normal thing to them.
Unsurprisingly it wasn’t, Sara rarely went out and went all out like this for an outing. The indigo-haired woman had looked downright sinful tonight. She wasn’t clad in anything scandalous as the black form-fitting dress hiding Archons knows where in the woman’s closet. A dress mind you that hugged her so deliciously that Yae was fairly sure almost gave Ei a heart attack when they had gotten a pic from Kokomi and Yelan. It’s not every day you get to see Raiden Ei punch herself in the face to regain her bearings.
No, their workaholic had been in a simple white shirt encased by a black string corset and a short black skirt with her gifted gold chain and gold wedding band resting teasingly at her chest. If any woman had taste and glorious audacity where they had been, they’d be right to at least try to pull Sara in by the necklace. Yae wouldn’t have begrudged them, she would’ve understood but it’s knowing that Sara would pull away that satisfies her most.
Sara Kujou was a woman made to be draped in gold, Yae had thought as she removed multiple gold rings from long elegant fingers. Yae, the woman of spontaneity, on occasion, had habits and with Sara’s hand, she never missed the chance to tease holding it with a drag of her fingers. It was always gratifying to see Sara’s fingers twitch in anticipation for when she eventually held it. It’s more gratifying now to see muscle memory kick in and her hand moves to hold it immediately. Thrilling even.
It’s slight torture to rip herself from the woman’s grasp when Yae leaves the room for water and some aspirin. Ei takes over sitting by Sara, stroking her hair as the woman snuggles up to her leg, still mumbling. Ei listens carefully, intrigued by the muffled words coming from Sara. Among the subtle moans, she can hear wispy murmurs of “kiss me” and her restraint is worn down just a bit further.
“My love, I’ll be right back…” Ei murmurs, attempting to escape, her face a mask of control, but still she finds herself locked in place by strong arms. She turns to look back at Sara who is staring at her with pleading eyes.
“Don’t go… I have something I need to tell you.”
Ei cups Sara’s face in her hands with warmth creasing her eyes, “What is it?”
“I want to kiss you.” Archons, be gracious.
“You’re drunk,” Ei informed her girl, her voice tinted with amusement.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Okay, maybe a little.”
Ei could only imagine Yae suppressing her laughter at that exchange if she were in the room with them.
“I need to-”
“Need to what, love?”
“I need to kiss you.”
“Sara,” is all Ei says in reprimand, but it doesn’t hold the usual strength it should.
“I need to.”
“You do not.” And something had never sounded more than a lie to Ei’s ears.
“I want to?”
“Are you asking me if you want to?”
“No, but-” And suddenly, Ei finds herself being manhandled respectfully. Sara moves stone-cold sober to her feet so the two stand face to face and Ei registers a gentle hold on her waist. “I am asking if I may.”
Standing like how they were Ei is reminded that Sara is indeed the tallest of them, not overtly but just enough that she has to raise her chin to meet her beautiful golden eyes. The feel of Sara’s idle fingers caressing her jaw before stroking her chin with her eyes focused intently on her lips is a system shocker if you ask her. There’s a burn against her hip and Ei blinks maybe five times before realizing it's Sara’s right hand gripping her waist like it was her Archon given right.
Sara herself didn’t know why tonight was the night she decided to end her long-standing drought. Maybe it was the alcohol that brought her clarity or the dehydration that came with it. She really didn't know why she did it.
All she knew was that staring into Ei’s amused eyes before catching a glance at her lips that were curled into an affectionate smile when her head was in her lap was that she needed to kiss her. And she'd be damned if she didn't get what she wanted.
Ei was a glass of fucking water. Hers. She was intoxicating and she knew it. She had to. She was soft and pretty like this, almost plaint under her hand. Sara squeezed at the hold on a waist to gain an involuntary sound from Ei from the startled look in the woman’s eyes. Pretty purple eyes with the loveliest light blue pupils. She’d be damned indeed.
Air rushes out of Ei’s lungs when Sara kisses her. Tugged forward in the blink of an eye and with just pressure and precision their mouths slanted perfectly together at the go. Fucking marksmen, Ei mulled as she fisted the front of Sara’s shirt with untamed need. She couldn’t pretend she was against kissing Sara ever; she had waited years. Sara must think the same as she kisses her hard as soon as the chance comes, gripping and pulling Ei into herself seemingly dissatisfied with the distance between them which was very little in the first place.
There’s a blatant message of need that shoots through Ei as she tries to breathe as much as she can from the little breaks from the fervent kisses pressed into her. Had it not been mutual desire Ei might have been scared she was about to be devoured rather than loved. The kissing goes on long enough that Ei is sure to she may have to be rescued from Sara. Archons’ blessing that only a few moments passed before Sara’s kisses became softer, slower. Ei realizes that only when she finds herself with more gaps to breathe. The present need in Sara seemingly quenched. There was nothing drunk about this.
Sara still doesn’t let up when they do break apart, unconsciously chasing after Ei’s lips to graze with her own before focusing on littering kisses anywhere she could touch. Merciful to let her breathe pathetically heavy. Ei cards her fingers through indigo hair to pet and soothe but also poised to pull Sara away in case of another attack. Sara pulled away in due time, exhaling a soft laugh as they held Ei closer to them.
“You good?” she asks.
Ei nods, following up with a murmur of “Yeah. Yeah, I’m good.” Tampering a satiated grin into a small smile before hiding her face in the crook of Sara’s neck, cheeks a little more flushed than usual.
The former only hums as she does before slowly caressing one hand up and down Ei’s back.
“Oh.”
“Yea.”
A beat or two passes between them.
“Yae,” Ei remembers, inquiring but also stating that it was easily understood by Sara. She was so caught up in their kiss that she had forgotten their lover who stepped away. There was no doubt in her mind that Yae had returned to see them kissing, maybe stepping away to give them time to be. Maybe.
A grunt was all Ei got in verbal response from Sara before the woman planted one last kiss on the curve of her jaw, guiding her down to sit on the bed before stalking off to find their third.
Said third was painstakingly trapped in her thoughts about the scene she walked in on of Sara and Ei. Yae had never expected this to be how it would happen. How they’d officially come together if she and Sara would. Her legs unconsciously brought her back to their kitchen where she still had the glass of water and two aspirin clutched in her respective hands.
Would that be it? Was she going to have her turn? Will she have to beg for it? The thought made her clench at the objects in her hand more. Sara, leaning against the doorway, watched for a moment concerned that the woman may crush the glass in hand at this rate before approaching.
Yae found herself granted with a small touch to the small of her back one would assume to prevent startling her, yet she still was. Jumping into the intimate back hug where Sara hesitantly trailed kisses from Yae’s collarbone to her jaw, making the woman shiver.
Sara mumbled, "Archons, you smell fucking good."
That was it. That was all she was getting? The revelation made Yae burst out a short, surprised laugh, uncertainty, and amusement plaguing her anew. Sara Kujou was never a woman of words, so Yae doesn’t know why she was taken aback by the lack of it.
A muffled “I’m home” followed whilst Sara was pressed in the crock of Yae’s neck after she was satisfied from the nibbling done there.
“Welcome back,” Yae replied simply, trying not to overthink the announcement.
“No,” the woman followed up, voice gruff suddenly. Sara squeezed Yae like a toy, eliciting a yelp, before breaking away from her body completely. “I’m home.”
Confusion takes over Yae’s face more when she turns around to face her little bird, eyes searching for a more blatant expression of their relationship now.
Ei’s amused laughter rang out as the two women had their silent standoff, Sara giving nothing and Yae asking everything with their eyes alone.
“Yae, dear, do welcome Sara home properly.”
Yae’s brow arches in offense like Ei has betrayed her in some way and Sara grins at the confusion that wrinkles the woman’s brows further. Ei giggles and Sara slowly makes it back to Yae whilst her attention remains away. The pink-haired woman too fixated on silently arguing with Ei to be clearer.
“Properly,” Ei doubles down with a smugness that pisses Yae off.
“Now look here, you little sweet loving twat-” Yae started off cursing.
Before suddenly being silenced by the way Sara crushes her lips against hers, pushing the woman back further into the kitchen, to their sink. Yae fumbles with the glass of water as Sara refused to break the lip lock they were in now, even as she tried to question and argue with the two through her flurry of kisses. She feels a strong arm loop tightly around her waist pulling her flush against Sara’s torso, the heat of her warming her through night clothes.
Sara’s energy proved infectious and motivation surprising. The general expectation was that their coming together would be sweet and hesitant but the need, desperation, and wanting to be close to Yae was brain-racking. It was almost as if Sara wanted to be in her, her tongue pushing past her lips, her arms wrapping themselves tighter around her; Yae felt like the woman was treating this like this was her last day on earth. Like she was about to leave for a long time, and she needed one last taste to remember while she was gone but this was only the beginning.
This was only their beginning Yae thought in defiance as she futilely tried to kiss back with the same energy and insistence of need. Ei and Yae would never register how untrue theirs would be compared to Sara's at that moment, for she was a woman who waited years in the desert of them. Yae whimpers louder than she’d want Ei thinks, drawing her attention to them where she watches what may have been her in Sara’s arms earlier, a heat pooling so hotly in her stomach that she crosses her legs to quell this old feeling.
She watched as Yae’s lips became pinker than normal whilst hers were probably not fairing much in difference. She wonders how many kisses they had exchanged in such a short amount of time. Her heart beats nostalgically fast at the thought of how much they will. Thoughts of such take Ei away from the scene and in a myriad of happy thoughts of the future. This is proper their beginning.
Eventually, Archons knows when, Sara cups the back of Yae’s head, and whispers against her lips, “Home.”
The ongoing trend for the night seems to be losing track of time because Ei doesn’t know when Sara and Yae join her side, hand in hand just looking amongst themselves.
“What now?” Yae queries, strangely unbalanced by the turn of events.
“Now,” Sara replies, gaining Ei and Yae’s undivided attention, a smile on her lip, “I call Ganyu.”
