Despite what people think damian is very considerate when it comes to others.
He spent a large portion of his time around others, observing.
This has allowed him to know how to read people perfectly.
And- though some would be chocked to know- Damian isn't as much of a piece of shit as people make him out to be.
The reason why practically everyone hates him is because of the stupid reputation his brothers- AHM...timothy..and jason Ahm- made sure he had before he was even introduced to the hero community.
This made it so that people had this fabricated image that they made sure he fit.
They teased him to the point it was bullying.
Mocked him and when he tried to defend himself made him seem like the villain .
Yet when he does the same to them as revenge, he's hated further.
Damian knew this, and he tried to fix his attitude.
He really, really, REALLY did, but it's not easy changing the morals he was raised to believe. As well as the attitude he had since he was a young.
He didn't understand why killing was bad.
He didn't understand his father’s rules.
He didn't understand why jason was forgiven after nearly killing Timothy. While knowing damn well those stupid morals.
Yet he seems to get even more hated every time he tries to explain why HE did it.
How he didn't know it was wrong.
How at the time he was following the rules of the league.
The same rules he thought applied in the wayne household aswell. Not knowing that wasn't the case.
There were so many things he didn't understand, but he never asked, out of fear. The same fear he'd get beaten for having at the league.
Grayson- he refuses to call him Dick it's a disgrace to his actual character- was the only one that tried to see things from Damians point of view.
He's the only one that taught him the ways of the Wayne household.
The only one- other than alfred occasionally- that explained the things he didn't understand.
The only one in the wayne family, heck after his mother abandoned him: the only one in the world that LOVED him.
The one that calmed him down after a nightmare.
The only one that CARED for him.
That got grayson great results;
He's the only one damian acts like a child around.
Grayson- ahm Dick, is the only one he's comfortable expressing emotions around.
Grayson has seen Damian be his happiest, his weakest, and his most relaxed.
That's something the older man was very aware of.
He's experienced his little brother’s affection first hand, as well as his love.
He knows damian doesn't think words do justice when it comes to expressing honest love.
People can lie after all - the fact that his little brother genuinely thinks people are lying when they say they love him, makes him hate the league even more.- so his way of expressing love is by his actions.
If it's hugging/ giving him something he finds beautiful and interesting, / or giving presents.
These might be small for some, but when damain does them it's a clear sign he loves you.
Dick has experienced all of those things as well as others not mentioned.
He gets hugged by his baby brother every time they see each other (unless they're in front of others in that case they wait until they're alone).
Damain often gives him small things he finds/makes and likes,
flowers,
tiny drawings he's made of dick,
little oragamy he's made ,
cookies he baked to fit dick's taste,
a lighter he drew nightwing on, with all the details.
Damian even sends dick animal videos as well as funny ones.
All of these aren't even a portion of the things Damian has done for dick to show him his love.
And even after getting tiny flowers his baby brother picked up and cleaned for him, his heart still flutters and feels full ever time. It's custome at this point.
Dick has a wall full of all the flowers he's gotten.
And after Damian found out that hia big brother keeps and displays the flowers he gave him.
He started sealing them with mod podge so they last longer.
As well as giving him dried flowers more often than not.
See?
That's another thing damian does for dick.
Dick can feel his love growing every time he sees his brother.
That wall of flowers has even helped dick's mental health.
Whenever he wakes up depressed and feeling like the world hates him he sees the wall and feels better as it's proof that he will always have his little brother by his side no matter what.
That's also the reason Dick gets EXTREMELY pissed when someone is talking shit about his brother, calling him names, saying he's heartless.
Because dick knows the REAL damian.
He knows the small kid whose face brightens when he mentions getting ice cream.
The kid that has spent weeks drawing a detailed drawing of both of them smiling- he has that drawing framed and hung on a wall in his house-.
The fact that damian has dimples that appear when he smiles.
His little brothers love towards animals and plants. That's why dick will never allow anyone to slander his little brother without them getting hurt.
