If I Never Knew You

Summary:

Shadow Milk Cookie, a beast that everybody knows to be selfish, sadistic, and heartless, is not to be trusted. He lies, kills, hurts, and manipulates everybody he can.

That’s what Pure Vanilla thought just as every cookie around him. What Pure Vanilla didn’t know was that he was going to fall in love with this monster, despite him being insane and a psycho. His love would blind him.

It wasn’t in Shadow Milk Cookie’s plans to fall for Pure Vanilla Cookie either, but besides falling in love, it would be the beast's downfall too.

Notes:

I tried my best for this fanfic, it’s my first one and sorry if it’s not perfect, please read the tags and archive warnings.

Chapter Text

The blue-dressed jester remains locked up in that tree, where he has been for thousands of years. Now, not because of the witches who had cursed the five ancient beasts, but because of White Lily Cookie and who he mocks, the 'Fool King'. All he had inside that deep, dark void was himself.

The jester felt so much thirst for revenge for getting out, but he was inside what he felt was like a jail.

He thought he had the chance to finally rise again, but he failed in the process. Not for long, though. Shadow Milk was not going to stay in that state forever, not as his heart sought freedom and destruction. He just needed time to manipulate him.

"Stupid foolish cookies—who do they think they are!? Just wait. I'll manage to get out of this stupid tree soon or later."

The jester murmured in an infuriated tone to himself. He bit his lower lip so hard that it would bleed if he didn't stop. Suddenly, his enraged face dropped and changed to a smiley and teasingly funny face.

"Silly, silly, silly pure vanilly cookie...how could I forget about him!? After all, he IS my way out of this stupid prison! I know he acts all good and wouldn't hurt a tiny little mosquito, but everybody has their limits. Even the purest nun...HA HA HA!!!"

The jester laughed like a total lunatic, as he seemed to have lost it after having a breakdown when he vanished once again. He stopped laughing, yet his lips were still curled up in a wicked smile.

"But I wonder if the other beasts truly managed to wake up from their long sleep. Hopefully, they did, because that would make it easier for me! Oh, it's so hard to be me. Always taking the initiative."

He said in a proud tone, sitting down on nothing in that deep, scary-looking void.

He looked down at his soul jam. His smile finally dropped.

Pure Vanilla resides in his kingdom, thinking about all that happened back on the Beast Yeast continent. His main thoughts were Shadow Milk Cookie, White Lily Cookie, and his soul jam. He still felt nervous and anxious for Shadow Milk's last words.

'You don't know what's coming for you!'

The simple thought of these words made him scared. He didn't want that jester hurting his friends or his dear White Lily Cookie, whom he felt attached to.

He wanted to believe in his childhood friend, whom he had not believed in the past and lost for such a long time. He wanted to make things right this time, for his people and his loved ones.

"Ugh, I can't get these thoughts out of my head. Why can't I think positively?"

The ancient cookie said this to himself while standing in the garden of his castle, watering the flowers he had cultivated for such a long time. White lilies surrounded him, as well as sunflowers. Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice calling out for him.

"Pure Vanilla Cookie?" A quiet voice called out right behind him.

The ancient cookie turned around towards the cookie's voice, not surprised to see it was his very close friend who he had strong feelings for, White Lily Cookie.

"Are you okay?" She asked him, looking at him with a worried look.

"Uh..I'm... yes I'm okay." He answered, looking down thoughtfully.

"You're thinking about what happened days ago, right?" She said because she understood him. White Lily Cookie herself is more worried about all the incidents that happened in the Faerie Kingdom.

She feels guilty for all of this, considering she has been too stubborn and consistent in finding out why cookies exist, leading her loved ones to dangerous situations and Dark Enchantress Cookie being born from White Lily Cookie's corruption.

"Pure Vanilla cookie... I know all of this is hard to take in, and it is a lot. And I'm so sorry for all of what happened."

White Lily Cookie was interrupted by her friend; she felt his warm hand on her shoulder, reassuringly and kindly.

"White Lily Cookie, there is nothing to be sorry about. Although the beasts might wake up in the future, I know we will get through this together. Just like we've always done. I will always be here for you. Just like when we were little. Remember?" He said with a kind and soft smile.

White Lily Cookie couldn't help but smile at her dear friend; she knew he wasn't feeling the best after confronting Shadow Milk. But she had always respected him.

Even though she could tell her dear childhood friend had a big crush on her, she felt bad for not being able to love him back. She has always felt a true friendship connection between the two, not romance.

"Well, if you are okay, I am too. But remember, if you are ever feeling threatened or scared, you always have someone to call." She gave him a sweet, honest smile.

They both smiled at each other with honesty, and at that moment, Pure Vanilla stopped feeling tormented. He understood he wasn't alone here and that he had his dear friends there to support him.
Although that was what he feared the most...that something could happen to them.

Pure Vanilla Cookie and White Lily Cookie went out that afternoon, with beautiful white lilies surrounding them. It was a beautiful, enchanting place they used to go to when they were just young, innocent cookies.

The scent of the flowers was addictive, and the air flowed through their soft, fine hair. Especially Pure Vanilla's straight, shiny, golden hair.

A lot of birds seemed to be attracted by the cookies, leaning towards them and even resting their little scaly toes on their soft shoulders.

The animals seemed not to be scared by the cookies but rather comforted. The cookies found the perfect place to sit; it was a small hill with a lot of flowers like sunflowers and white lilies, and in front of it was a lake with a hypnotizing view, blue, see-through water. It allowed the cookies on top of the hill to see different kinds of fish.

They both smiled at the beautiful view, and White Lily looked in the distance as if she was admiring the nature shown in front of her before she spoke up in a soft yet sentimental tone.

"You know, sometimes I feel like Elder Faerie Cookie is still with me, just not...here. If you know what I mean," She said as she touched her long, soft braid and caressed it. her eyes glued to the pleasing view.

Pure Vanilla looked at her for a moment when she spoke up, just to look away as his eyes landed on a butterfly that had landed in his small hand.

"I'm sure you meant a lot to him than you think you did, I could see in his eyes when he gave you his powers..."

She kept caressing her hair and looked down at the butterfly that he had in his hand. Her eyes lightened and softened, and she smiled as the butterfly flew away into her hand instead. She smiled at it.

"I admired him...and when I was with him, I truly felt understood. I really hope he can still see me as a possible spirit."

Pure Vanilla smiled, but deep down he felt like there was more to the relationship his dear friend and the king of the Fairy Kingdom had, which upset him a little.

Although he could never feel jealous of their relationship, those negative feelings had never crossed his heart, not even one bit. Was it because he was too "pure"? Or does he truly feel the love he thinks he has for her?

He had always thought he had a crush on White Lily Cookie since they were kids, he seemed attached to her in every way, mentally and physically. But he was used to not being more than a friend to her, although he still felt some attraction for her, he would never force it.

"I think he loved you." those words escaped from his lips, and he felt his cheeks going pink from embarrassment until she spoke up.

"He did..." she said as she looked down at the butterfly with a blush on her face and kind, happy soft eyes, in a way that he had never seen before. It broke his heart to know she had never looked at him like that but to that other cookie.

"Sometimes when I look out of the window of the Fairy Kingdom, I feel like he is looking at me through the distance with a smile on his face. I feel so comforted. Yet so sad..."

Her smile turned into a sad face. A face of pure sorrow and desolation. He put his right hand on her shoulder and smiled at his dear friend.

"Don't worry, all you have to know is that he loved you enough to die to keep you and the Fairy Kingdom safe."

She looked at him with a small grimace. But then it turned into a frown and she looked at the butterfly in her hand, flying away. That frown...it was the same look in her eyes she gave Shadow Milk Cookie when she vanished him away, a frown full of hate and dislike.

Like, she was looking for revenge for her lover...so many emotions on her face that he had never seen in her before. Not even after knowing her for almost his entire life.

"White Lily Cookie...you are thinking of him, aren't you?" He asked. You could tell he was worried for his friend, worried for her mental health.

"That little...ugh. Stupid clown," she murmured in an angry tone. He understood she was angry at the beast for killing an important person for her, but he would have never thought that she was able to truly feel hatred, since she was called "Saint" Lily for a reason.

All the animals surrounding them flew away, and the sky turned a gray-sad color out of nowhere. The view that was once colorful and fascinating just looks sad and miserable now.

"It looks like a storm is coming..." Pure Vanilla said, trying to avoid talking about Shadow Milk Cookie to not awaken more agony in his friend's heart.

Even though he had his reasons to hate the jester himself, he just couldn't bring himself to hate any cookie. It just felt wrong in his pure heart.

Maybe it was because the beast hadn't taken anyone important to him. And he couldn't feel any type of sadness, he still had his close friends, after all, unlike her.

"I made a promise to myself, I will not stop." She said, completely ignoring his words, with the same resentful tone in her voice, she stood up and looked up.

She seemed to be having a lot of emotions going through her right now, resentment, love, sadness, angriness...
"Stop? Stop what?..." he questioned, concerned for her sake. He feared that White Lily would end up making the same mistakes she did in the past, which resulted in the creation of a dangerous cookie, Dark Enchantress Cookie. But this time it wouldn’t be out of curiosity, but something worse…hatred.

“I will not stop until that little clown is dead.” She said, in the coldest tone ever, something he had never heard before. White Lily Cookie..wants someone dead!? No way.

She could never want such a thing for another cookie…would she? It’s like he didn’t know who he was talking to anymore. This couldn’t be his friend, the one who always wanted the best for everybody, the one who couldn’t hurt a fly.

“White Lily Cookie! You can’t be serious!? I mean, I know the guy is evil and everything, but- w- everything has a solution through conversation!” He said in an alarmed tone now.

His eyes were full of concern and sadness for his friend, he didn’t want her to do such a thing. He knew Shadow Milk deserved the hatred, but in Pure Vanilla’s eyes, death was just too much.

“YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!” She screamed at him, now she looked at him with teary eyes and madness; he had never seen her in such a state. He gasped and took a step back, now too shocked to say anything.

“H-he took what I loved most in my entire life…I never loved a cookie so much, just to be taken away by some type of joke like that..that thing.”

“White Lily…”

It began to drizzle.

“No one can stop me... And now that I am the queen of the Faire Kingdom, they better take the side of their queen.”

She said that as she cried, the water falling from the sky began to get their hair wet, and he pulled her in a hug.

Although he never imagined his dear friend could want such a thing, it wasn’t in his right to stop her. But…he wanted. War was not an answer in Pure Vanilla’s eyes.

They should get going before their dough begins to hurt from the rain.

Pure Vanilla was getting ready to go to sleep. He brushed his golden, shiny hair and was lost in thought.

He kept thinking about White Lily Cookie’s words. It was like they were hunting him; something about Shadow Milk dying didn’t sit right with the pure cookie. Unlike her, he hasn’t lost it….yet.

She was blinded by sadness and a desire for revenge, Pure Vanilla could tell White Lily Cookie was in love with Elder Faerie Cookie, but he didn’t know she would take things way too far for her lost love.

He walked to his bed and looked down at his nightstand, where his light lamp was. His hand reached for the turn-off button, and the light vanished in a second.

His warm hands reached for his soul jam, for a moment, but just for a moment, he closed his eyes, and there was a flashback of Shadow Milk’s last words before he vanished for some time, once again.

“Foolish cookies…You simply have no idea what’s waiting for you!!!”

He gasped, and his heart was beating fast. All these emotions, his dear friend’s words…the beast who shared the same soul jam as him…Pure Vanilla is such a mess mentally right now. He didn’t want things to be worse than they already were.

He sat down, and he kept thinking of what to do to help White Lily open her eyes. Convince her that killing the beast wasn’t the solution.

All those thoughts vanished as quickly as a blink of an eye when the shadows of his room darkened so much that he could barely see the moonlight from his window. And he heard it; he heard his voice.

“What got ya so anxious, silly vanilly?”
